❦Chapter 32: Conflicting Chaos❦

You slept for a while, relieved that the Hypnocil had once again stopped you from seeing the stalkerish serial killer. But your common sense told you that he wouldn't just leave you alone like this - he had to be plotting something...something psychotic. A noise outside your door woke you up though; your paranoia alerting you and giving you a heads up.

Why was someone trying to get into your room? You pretended to be asleep, but beads of sweat rolled down your forehead and your breathing grew heavier, the situation becoming stressed. Someone broke the lock on your door, muttering a swear under their breath as they realised how loud they were being.

Your anxiety went into overdrive when they entered the room and approached your bedside, your body subtly stiffening up. Should you fight them or take flight and seek help? The unknown person sighed, the sigh giving away who they were. It was Ashley. But why had she snuck into your room? She began to cry, her soft sounds of misery echoing around the bedroom as she tried to compose herself.

"I...I'm sorry (Y/n)...All I want is for us to stay together..." The dark angel mumbled hoarsely, raising her knife into the air. You opened your eyes and saw hers closed - meaning you could still stop her.

"Stop!" You shouted out and grabbed her hands when she attempted to stab you.

"Let go!" She demanded nervously.

"No! Not until you get that knife away from me!" You snapped as you pushed the weapon further back.

"I'm trying to protect you!" Ashley growled unstably; her wings fading to black. After the sudden colour change she became stronger, pushing the knife closer and closer with two hands grasping the handle.

"You're trying to kill me!" You retorted in panic - afraid when the knife reached your neck.

This was it...you were actually going to die. The blade sliced your skin a little, small drops of blood splashing onto the metal and your collarbone as Ashley's strength overpowered yours. What were you meant to do now? Tears trickled out of your eyelids whilst you did your best to fight back, closing your eyes and realising you were fucked.

Yet something-no...someone pulled Ash away from you, throwing the angered angel to the floor. Another angel. She had flowing brown hair and piercing dark eyes; her black gown swirling around her feet as she stood in front of you.

"And you wonder why I never liked you. You let your heart make stupid decisions." The angel silkily sneered, her face set into an annoyed one.

"Stay out of this Lailah. You're the angel of the night, so go do your fucking job!" Ashley snarled in defence and climbed to her feet swiftly.

"My job is to watch over the skies when the sun rests, Ashley - not to kill a human in their sleep like a selfish succubus." Lailah threw back sharply.

"If I transform her into an angel then that fucking demon won't get to her! She'll be safe for the rest of her life!" Ash yelled in frustration - snatching the jewelled knife up off the ground.

"That's not the whole reason you're doing this though, now is it? You're acting on your emotions and that never gets us anywhere. You want your best friend back." Lailah cleverly deduced and gave you a hand to stand up with her.

"Thanks." You whispered gratefully; the night angel only replying with a graceful nod.

"No! That's not-I'm just-ugh, you don't understand!" Ashley exploded as she leapt at Lailah - intent on silencing her.

"Go human. Get out of here! Go find Sister Helena!" Lailah commanded and got tackled by your furious friend.

"O-Okay!" You anxiously stammered, running to the door.

"No! (Y/n) don't!" Ash screeched desperately. She tried to go after you but Lailah tackled her back - giving you time. You ignored Ashley's begs and raced out of the room, tears still flowing down your cheeks like mini waterfalls.

Where were you meant to go? Sister Helena was Amanda Krueger, right? So where would she be? Maybe the room you met her in? You hurried towards the office, but she wasn't there. Growing more and more stressed, you tried looking for Althea instead. Some people work late...don't they? She wasn't there either.

"(Y/NNNNN!)" You jumped at Ashley's howling voice; Lailah must've not been able to hold her. Crap.

"Don't do what Lailah says! Amanda won't understand! Don't you want to escape Freddy?!" She shrieked down the hall and you shivered.

You had to hide somewhere...but where? Not knowing what else to do, you hid in an alcove window and pulled the curtain across - placing your hand over your mouth whilst you squeezed your eyes shut. Ash stormed past, letting loose an unladylike growl as she searched for you.

Running the opposite way she went, you stopped in your tracks when you heard something. Someone was...singing...? A mesmerising melody wafted down the halls - the trancing tune forcing you to follow it. So you did. Your thoughts drizzled into nothingness, your mind numbing as everything else became only background noise.

You had to follow this riveting music, wherever it was coming from. You passed the palace's entrance and descended down the dungeon's stone steps; becoming hypnotised once more. The singing was so stirring...so seductive...so soothing. Stopping in front of a cell, you saw Azereth lying on his bed - singing softly under his breath. His magic must carry the captivating song further than his voice.

He smirked at you in amusement, sitting up jauntily and finishing his song with his seducing tone. "Welcome back, little robin."

"Hi." You breathlessly greeted; grasping the prison bars with both hands.

"Now usually I sing to get the angels' attention, but I seem to have caught you instead. Humans do fall prey quicker than angels though, innocent mistake." Azereth mused casually, walking up to the bars and placing his hands over yours.

"I love your singing...it was beautiful." You praised faintly.

"Not nearly as beautiful as you~" He purred into your ear as he leaned closer. You giggled, giving a masochistic shiver when his lips brushed over your earlobe.

"Would you mind doing me a favour, sweet-face?" Azereth sweetly asked, his magenta eyes glowing into yours slyly.

"Whatever you need." You murmured.

"Unlock the door for me, will you sugar? I prefer to be out and about, not locked up like a mangy mutt." He sighed in dissatisfaction as he placed a hand over his forehead.

"But I don't have the key." You pointed out sadly, feeling bad.

"You have your power though - don't think I can't sense that. C'mon cutie, just break open the door. I would but it's cursed with purity, so pretty please~?"Azereth lightly cooed and you nodded.

You held your hand a few inches away from the lock and focused your power on making the metal explode; proud when the door drifted open. The Incubus King nonchalantly stepped out, a huge grin stretched across his lavender-coloured face. He then pinned you loosely against the wall - one hand around your waist and the other one on the wall, right next to your head.

"Thanks sweetheart. I owe you one." Azereth chuckled and moved his hand off of the wall, now holding the tip of your chin.

"Anytime." You softly responded.

"Come now, let's return to my home. I can please you more thoroughly there than I can here." He remarked smugly, going in for a quick kiss before taking you with him.

Just as his lips touched yours a knife sliced his cheek, shock flittering across his features for a split moment. You snapped out of your hypnotised state to see Ashley standing there with an enraged expression, her eyes narrowed.

"Let go of her you scum!" She ordered angrily, making the knife appear back in her hand.

"Oh my, what happened to your wings? They look a little...darkened." Azereth drawled as his grin widened.

"It's none of your business." Ash bitterly replied and looked livid at his words.

"Ah, you've become a fallen angel...what a shame." He gloated.

"Shut up and step away from her." Ashley spat aggressively, moving towards him with force.

"Come at me then angel, let's see how well you fight."

"I'll make you regret ever coming here."

They began to battle and you watched in fear, taking several steps back whilst you debated on what to do. Should you help Ash? Or should you stay out of it? Your questioned was answered for you as you got grabbed from behind, a set of very familiar claws dancing along your neck.

"Hey there, kitten~"
