[Chapter 66: Restoring Balance]
"That doll is NUTS!" Stu insulted rudely; him and Billy both clenching their knives threateningly towards Chucky whilst you stood in the middle of the three killers.
"Yeah, no SHIT! We need to finish this, and we need to finish this NOW!" Billy sided with his friend furiously, gripping his knife as he glared past you in the direction of the red-haired doll.
"Oh, YOU'RE one to talk." Chucky angrily retaliated, getting ready to charge past you and restart the fight again. "Speak for yourself, motherfucker."
"Can we please not do this...?" You begged with desperation, their behaviour stressing you out and causing you to feel even more worried than before. "All I wanted to do was explain why Chucky was sitting in the living room, and to explain it peacefully."
"(Y/n), it has SOUL Power in it for GOD'S Sake!" Billy snapped back; starting to sound unbelievably pissed while also beginning to twitch unstably. "And yet you STILL want to trust something of THAT nature?"
"Yeah, he's kinda got a point there, (Y/n)..." Stu uneasily trailed off, still clenching his knife and frowning. "Soul Power's never good for anybody...Whether the living thing's human...inhuman, humane or inhumane...It just doesn't matter. It goes way beyond that."
"So? Why does it matter? Freddy and Penny both use Soul Power, and that's never bothered you before." You huffed in annoyance, pointing out the obvious whilst hugging your arms as well. "I, personally, don't find that to be a problem. In fact, I think you guys should all just go and take a breather."
"Are you for real?" Billy half-laughed with disbelief, irritated rage literally dripping from his face as he debated on what to do and how to respond. "That's completely different! They're both immortal creatures! And both just as equally as dangerous as him too, might I add."
"I hardly think that you two have any room to talk when it comes to chatting about danger - or any dangerous situations for that matter." Hannibal interceded calmly; coming to your aid and attempting to defuse the conflict himself. "Although truth be told, I have to agree with (Y/n) here. I don't believe that to be a problem. Nor do I believe that you three should even be bothering her like this."
"(Y/n)'s being...bothered...!?" Within seconds, Penny materialised into the living room and pulled you into a possessive cuddle; the clown immediately shifting into his darker form and acting worried. "B-By who...!?"
"By the doll, obviously." Billy blamed instantly, narrowing his eyes and glaring straight towards Chucky at the very same time. "If you want to blame anyone, then blame the fucking doll...!"
"Billy, mate...I really don't think that this is a very good idea—"
"The FUCK did I do!?" Chucky fired back with hatred, growing agitated by how furious he'd become from the others.
"You didn't do anything. So...So don't worry about it." You quietly replied, your cheeks glowing pink from embarrassment and feeling shy. "They're just trying to place the blame on you. Nothing more, nothing less."
"Typical human behaviour." Pennywise taunted vindictively. "Ugh. I knew the psychiatrist was a dislikable life source, but for fuck's sake, this is ridiculous—"
"As I'd like to point out, I haven't even done anything here." Hannibal replied in his usual calm and collected manner, crossing his arms before sighing. "So getting me involved this morning is rather pointless, I'm afraid."
"He's right, Penny. Besides, nobody started this." You explained honestly, twirling around to face the clown and pulling away from his worried embrace. "Everyone is pushing this way out of proportion."
Praying that Pennywise would accept your words and not lose his temper, you did your utmost best to stay calm; taking a very deep breath while also wondering how to bring up his secret feeding problem. After all, exposing his...unknown difficulties in public - around the others - might be a...tad bit awkward for him. "Anyway, you got a minute, Penny...?"
"I have several minutes...But how come...? You need a minute yourself, honeybun?" He asked curiously, flashing you a puzzled look and a bewildered expression whilst his former irritation flickered.
"No, no, no..." You laughed aloud lightly, the atmosphere not being as heavy as you thought it would be after Pennywise's present comment. "I just need to talk to you in private for a moment, upstairs. Is that alright...?"
"Why can't you discuss what you need to say to him in front of the rest of us, huh?" Billy icily demanded, grasping your wrist and preventing you from leaving the living room the second you decided to talk to Penny alone. "How come you want to be by yourself, with him all of a sudden...?"
"Because I need to explain something to him and it's an important matter, Billy." You spoke to him sternly, raising your voice before responding and yanking your wrist free. "Understand? It doesn't involve anyone else, and if I recall, my freedom means that I can speak to any one of you, at any point in time."
"Very well-put, my dear." Before Billy, Stu, Michael or Chucky could cut in, Hannibal stopped anybody from arguing; shooting you another one of his sweet smiles and nodding after he'd placed one of his hands on your shoulder supportively.
"Oh, um...Thank you." You awkwardly smiled back, appreciating his soft encouragement and gentle comfort. "That's...really kind of you to say."
"Of course. I have to return to my office upstairs pretty soon anyway." He announced warmly, showing why he didn't feel the need to force you from leaving like Billy or Stu did. "It turns out that one of my assistants requires my help online. They wish for me to sort through a few more case files regarding my specific line of work."
"Specific line of work...? What type of work do you do exactly...? I thought you were just a psychiatrist." You questioned with confusion, striking up a curious conversation and simply trying to interact with him a little bit.
"Oh I am, mi amore, I am." Hannibal chuckled in amusement, finding your inquisitive inquiries to be rather...funny. "However, my occupations tend to be become moderately...mixed, from time-to-time. Mostly I'm a professional psychiatrist, other times I work with a Special Agent. To...track down certain serial killers, as it were."
"You mean track down yourself...?" You pointed out sarcastically, raising your eyebrows once you'd rolled your eyes at his explanation.
"I didn't realise you had such a sharp sense of humour, (Y/n)." He wryly stated, releasing your shoulder to wrap his arm around your waist instead.
"Yeah, well, not many people realised that much about me. At least, not until you guys came along." You playfully teased, giving him a cheeky kiss on the lips before taking hold of Penny's hand and leading him into the hallway.
"Are you sure that you'll be alright by yourself...? Upstairs and alone with him...? After all, Pennywise here hasn't really shown to be the very best at controlling his emotions, or fighting just how he feels overall. " Speaking with high amounts of concern, the smart male hid his worry and decided to just talk to you directly; following you into the hallway and leaning against the wall next to the stairs.
"Pennywise won't hurt me. He just needs to know what's going on. I'll be back before you guys know it. Right, Penny?" You confidently answered, switching your attention back to the clown and giving his hand a soft squeeze as you lead him back into your bedroom.
"M'kay...So what's going on, sweet-pea...? You made it sound majorly important." Penny asked you with a puzzled frown, not understanding why you'd left the others and wanted to discuss something this urgently.
"Well...It is important, I suppose. To you anyway." You hesitantly remarked, wondering where to start and how to respond to him. Okay...Okay. Tell him about what was messing with his...feral senses, tell him about how to...fix his feelings, and hopefully everything will go back to normal. So..."Pennywise...?"
"Mmhm...?"
"I...I..."
"Is everything okay, sugar-bear...?"
"I think that...you should...you should..."
"I should what...?"
"I think that you should go back to Derry, Maine."
