Some comments have been getting to me about this book...please note I try my absolute best. On the other hand, I'm so happy people liked my chosen names! Please vote for the gender of the baby here:
•Male (Léo)
•Female (Ruby)
•Twins (Unlikely)
Thank you to Iadyshadow for plot inspiration!
"Is she docile yet?"
"Yes, she won't be attacking anyone for at least an hour." Thick, toxic flames were distorted amongst a painfully familiar face. Prince Eren Yeager stood callously amongst a scorching scene. My once beloved personal quarters flickered with light. Several memories began to merge, one resembling fleeing the palace; the other tied to an odd-looking wooden chair. "It's good to see you again, (Y/N)." A sharp intake for breath hinted my immediate disgust even being in the presence of such a cruel, demanding man. Eren held no regard for others- even his own guards.
"Don't waste your energy. It's pointless, little Chi warrior." Eren, although pridefully smug over the whole ordeal, did look a little guilty over the methods required in order to successfully capture me. "W-What do you want?" His soft, ocean eyes lit up like crisp waves of salt water. "I'm glad you can talk. Sacha went a little overboard with the sleeping dart." Dart? What about the palace fire? As my shattered brain began to assemble, memories fought to join together like splotches of ink on an open page. What happened to Levi? He was asleep at the time! Not to mention Sacha...was she blackmailed into this?
"L-Levi!"
"Relax. I spared him for your sake. If he were to die, I'm sure you'd kill anyone in your path regardless of emotional attachment." As much as I tried to deny his statement, it was nothing short of the truth. I would have nothing without him. I would be nothing without him. That battle for love since passing the status of 'Royal Guard' would all have been for nothing. Levi remained the light of my life, as did his unborn child. "L-Let me see him..." the room fell silent. Painfully silent. Eren averted his gaze to the corner of a newly designed room. "Are you sure that's what you want?"
His eyes fell under the wrath of a wicked storm. His irises resembled a wooden ship clinging to life amongst the open sea. "Over there," Eren pointed towards a man who sat with his head hung like a dog. A mirage of purple bruises littered his face, as did small, red burns. Presumably all from the fire. "He insisted you were rescued first. Quite the gentleman." Eren suddenly cocked his neck upwards, revealing what looked like a stab wound to the right side of his shoulder. "He put up quite the fight. He even broke my nose again. You remember the first time he did that, right?"
Eren's sinful voice did not manipulate my mind in the slightest. His torment no longer affected me. In fact, his attempts to provoke me fell upon deaf ears. The sensation could only be described as white noise. Nothing mattered but the wellbeing of Levi. It was evidently clear he was in desperate need of medical assistance. My hand, although painfully weak, longingly reached out towards him. His silver orbs glimmered with relief upon witnessing such a pathetic looking task.
Why isn't he moving? He's completely silent. His eyes appear to be talking for him. A heavy wave of drowsiness immediately washed over me, involuntary forcing my eyes to roll backwards into my head. "Don't fall asleep yet," any nearby voices were plunged into a well of rising water. The strange sensation reminded me of breath training in the lakes of Chi almost three years ago. A smooth, angered voice rang clear amongst the others: a voice I had heard countless times. In my ear, my heart, my body. Levi...I hope he's hanging in there.
"Don't touch her, she's preg--!" Levi abandoned his vow of silence in a frantic attempt to protect our unborn child.
"Shut up, your majesty. I'm not talking to you." Once a sharp, deafening ringing sound began to fade into the distance, Eren was revealed clutching onto the soft curve of my chin. A drastic look of undeniable shock flooded his features. "Oh...pregnant. I understand Levi's concerns now." His hand feverishly relaxed, seemingly at a loss of what to do. Clearly, pregnancy was not something he had factored into his plan; whatever his plan was in the first place.
"Well...that was quick," Eren mused to himself. "Nevermind. Untie her." To his guards' surprise, leniency was unexpected. "In fact, kill her instead." Vital gasps for air escaped my lungs, forcing the entirety of my body upright. My surroundings had completely changed from my previous location. Levi's quarters...our bed...another dream. For three weeks now, a variety of increasingly disturbing dreams had been tormenting my mind. From my unborn child, to potential death scenarios, my brain never once gave me a break.
Stop being ridiculous!
"Hello, (Y/N)! I'm here to check on you!" Hanji bounded into my sleeping quarters, eyeing my slightly rounded abdomen with a hopeful glimmer within her irises. "I can see a small bump forming now...it won't be long until we have little Levi feet pattering around the palace floors—!"
"I hope you're not troubling my wife, four-eyes." To my surprise, Levi entered his working area with a firm glare etched upon his masculine features. He must be feeling better after resting. His deep, sultry voice oozed authority. I couldn't help but wonder what characteristics our baby would inherit. Dark hair, most likely. Perhaps my eyes too? Although Levi has intense, beautiful grey eyes. Hanji began blurting an array of excuses, each one more terrible than the last. "I-I was just checking! You want your baby to be healthy, right? Have you thought of any names?"
Levi sighed inwardly, collapsing behind his oakwood desk and reaching for a feather quill. "Of course we have. Léo, if we have a boy...and Ruby, if we have a girl." My eyes widened upon hearing his sudden announcement. Those were not the names we originally chose...did he dislike the names after awhile? Not to mention Ruby sounds a little ironic...it's the jewel I stole from him in the very beginning. Hanji squealed in delight, delicately tracing her palm across my growing stomach. "Those are lovely names!"
"As much as I love those names, isn't Ruby a little...ironic? I stole that jewel from you, Levi." He merely began to focus on his increasing pile of paperwork, hiding a delicate smirk across his lips. "But what you're providing me is a gift." He stated bluntly, scribbling his signature across an ink-stained page. To hear him call our unborn baby "a gift" sparked a deep, crimson blush across my darkening face. He sounds so loving...I wish this moment would never fade.
"I'm so pleased for you! I can't wait to see your baby, (Y/N)!" Hanji cried, embracing me front the front and snuggling her nose into my collarbone. "Oi, don't leap on her like a dog, you idiotic woman!" Levi stood up from his desk, striding towards the frantic scene and picking up the crazed scientist by her collar. She looks like a puppy being picked up by the scruff of her neck! How amusing. "Leave us now, four-eyes." He bid her farewell outside the hallway, closing the door with a frustrated sigh. "Tsk, damn pesky woman." He muttered.
"How are you feeling, brat?" Levi focused his attention on my rounded abdomen. He appeared a mixture of content and intrigued. "W-We're fine," I carefully studied my lower-half. I wonder if we'll have a boy...I know that's what Levi wants. A delicate touch derailed my train of thought. He stood above me with an intense look on his face. "I-Is something the matter—?" His head leant forward, silencing any form of questioning. In these few moments, it was astonishingly clear: we loved each other, and our unborn baby.
My safety and protection were all he could think about. It was bad enough when we were a couple, but with a baby on the way, his insecurities had increased ten-fold. "Are you feeling better now, Levi? You should really be resting..." his loving gaze only deepened as his lips found my neck, sucking gently on a delicate patch of skin. "Tsk, that's my line, brat. I'm fine now." What a liar...he looks a little drained. A King and Queen should share work equally. I hope he manages to recover well.
"You can help me with duties once you've given birth to my other little brat." His kindness was highly expected. Levi had pretty strict rules regarding my time spent awake. Other than my mysterious dreams, fear of giving birth was also playing on my mind. Birth rates are risky nowadays...hopefully expensive palace medicines and trained doctors would boost my chances. I'm not ready to leave Levi's side yet. I wish to have a long and fruitful life with him. "You look saddened all of a sudden, (Y/N)," his fingertips grasped my chin, assessing my face by tilting my chin from side to side.
"I'm a little worried about the childbirth part...you know what can happen—"
"I'm aware," he stated blankly. "Nothing will happen, (Y/N). I won't let it." His defiance on the subject alleviated few worries on the issue. No one can prevent unseen problems of a growing baby. My raven-haired husband traced his fingers across a small, fragile bump. He appeared elated to see our baby progressing into life with each passing day. "Are you content with the names, (Y/N)?" He mused to my bump rather than my bashful expression.
"I like them a lot. What made you change your mind to Léo?" My question sparked a moment of silence. It appeared he struggled to provide justification for his chosen name. "I suppose the name being French helped me finalise my decision." He has a point...a name from Chi might be a little too hard for him to pronounce. "I see. Well, it's lovely. I think I'm warming up to Ruby now."
A faint smile adorned his lips. "I knew you would."

After discussing our baby names, Levi concluded rest would help me overcome my "troubling dreams." In the end, Hanji informed him in the vain hope he could shed some light as to why such images plagued my sleep. He implied vague notions about his parents; the behaviours in my dreams were oddly similar to the way they raised him as a child. He concluded my nerves were hindering my sleeping patterns, and suggested talking things through with him at the end of the day. A pleasant evening had begun to settle around the palace, littering an occasional star across a navy canvas of lights.
The view from outside the palace was an everlasting gift. One to be unwrapped whenever the occasion required such a magnificent view. I studied a glimmering shimmer of moonlight dance across the cold adjacent rivers. Levi's Kingdom projected the respect and care of his position as King: value and prosperity. His Kingdom had now become a place I truly felt safe in. Compared to the stark reality of Chi, no longer were there thieves and potential beatings around every corner. As much as my heart bleeds for Chi, I know my life is here now. Perhaps one day I'll visit the old apple tree Reiner used to climb.
"It's nice to see you again. Do you remember me from your wedding?" A brittle, clearly anxious voice rung clear amongst the twinkling stars. Of course, no one could successfully sneak up on me. Chi instincts run deep within a warrior. Pregnant or not. This man was no guard, nor was he related to the palace in any form. I made no attempt to turn; he would see my growing stomach. "You won't even look at me. I suppose it makes sense. Reiner died. I'm his friend."
Reiner's friend? The tall lanky boy at the trial perhaps? "It doesn't matter. I still have to abduct you regardless. I recommend that you don't fight me, it'll make things easier—" I turned slowly, revealing my curved abdomen. He swallowed thickly, lowering his curved sword for a few moments of silence. After a moment of consideration, he raised his voice. "I still have to take you."
Bertholt Hoover. I knew his face looked familiar.
"I won't fight. Just don't hurt my baby."
"That baby is a blessing. The (Y/N) I knew didn't hesitate in striking her opponents down." He commented, pulling a small piece of material over my darkening eyes. This moment seemed oddly surreal. Lack of violence simply never appeal to me. General Pixis trained all warriors under his instruction to "fight with no regrets." He most certainly did not mention how to fight while carrying an unborn baby.
"Well now I'm pregnant," I retorted. "Don't do anything rash. I won't fight." Sheer desperation leaked from my tone of voice. Keeping my grip on reality became increasingly difficult as precious time passed. He's going to abduct me...how long will it take for Levi to realise something is wrong? An hour? Less than that? "Let's go, keep quiet and you'll live." How far will we travel in an hour?

King Levi Ackerman POV
Tiresome meetings and delayed nobles were nothing out of the ordinary. My evenings were all too familiar: work, eat, sleep. My routine completely changed when (Y/N) came into my life. Her soft charm and skilled manoeuvres never failed to keep me awake at night or put me off an expensive meal. I fell for her not too long after meeting her, although she would never be notified of this. As far as she's concerned, the moment I confessed was the beginning of my romance. It took awhile for me to realise what exactly heartache was. She awoke every sleeping emotion all at once.
The gift of my unborn child alleviated all forms of stress. Our child will be nothing short of beautiful. (Y/N) is the babies' mother.
"Levi, it's (Y/N's) checkup time...have you seen her? I'm a little worried." (Y/N) isn't in our shared quarters? Strange...perhaps the bathroom? Hanji entered the neatly organised room and nervously paced near my desk. "I've asked the guards and no ones seen her..." What? The guards haven't seen her? I assign them to follow her almost everywhere...that means...she's left without anyone tracking her.
It's impossible to do so without help.
"Call the guards! She's been taken!"
