Not the Job of an Ass

"Okay okay I get it, uncle! I am not a child anymore, you know. I was doing jobs throughout my college, I know how it works, I'm sure it's not gonna be that different here in New York", I attempted at calming my uncle down on the phone whilst putting my dress pants on, both to no avail.

A big sigh and a few more words later, I was finally able to achieve success.

Honestly, consoling an uncle who works in NYPD and putting tight dress pants on, in the morning when you're already late for an interview, both at the same time can prove to be really challenging.

I ran out of my new apartment, here; only carrying my essentials for the day.

I really hope to get a job here at Zoldyck Enterprises. It'll not only be a boost in my beginning career but also solve alot of the current problems in my life.

Catching a subway to Manhattan I walked the remaining way to the huge building I'm supposed to be interviewed in.

Watching the huge glass building got me so mesmerized I found myself hoping and wishing to be coming here every day for work. Especially since my previous work place wasn't exactly very classy. Not that I'm being ungrateful, the weekly register gave me support when I was still studying journalism back in my home town.

The nice girl at the main reception greeted me with a very professionally repeated line I'm sure she's said a thousand times. I followed her instructions and took the elevator to the 75th floor. When i said Huge, i wasn't kidding.

Okay, so everyone who goes for an interview believes they are the one for the job but when they get there, they find the scene to be entirely opposite. And believe me I'm no exception. The sheer amount of people here for the same job as me got me even more nervous.

Taking a deep breath I took a seat and waited for my turn. Fortunately I wasn't as late as I thought. Seemingly they had no proper system for the interviews; they appear to be calling anybody who was sitting closest to the main office. And it kinda looked a little chaotic here,

Waiting, I realized the women population to be way larger than the male interviewees. And most of them were blondes and very leggy.

Did I miss the memo? Did they only ask for blondes who look like friggin models, as applicants? If so, I'm in trouble because I'm neither blonde nor tall for that matter.

A few girls went in and all came out with a happy face. I heard a few of them say the interview was being conducted by Mr. Zoldyck himself, today. Apparently it's uncommon for him to even be present in this building all the time, since he has many different businesses and alot more buildings with his name on top, let alone to be taking the interviews himself.

I don't know whether to be worried about the news or be relaxed. However if the dreamy expressions or the hot blushes of every other girl coming out of that office tells me anything, it's that at least he's not a rude assh**le.

Boy was I wrong!

Third person POV:

After waiting patiently, her turn came.

"Finally!", she sighed out loud whilst standing up from her position, a few people looked at her weird for being that way but she couldn't care less about how people look at her, she brushed them off and walked off with her head held high confidently believing she got this interview in the bag, today, and towards the double set of doors that were going to change the course of her entire life; only, she was associating that to a job, right now.

Entering the office, her jaw slacked a bit. She was expecting high and might but she wasn't expecting this for sure. She thought her entire apartment could fit into his single office.

A large space was left free right before the double doors and a set of very expensive looking office couches were perched on the left side of the huge room right in front of the floor to ceiling windows showing off a beautiful corporate New York view. On the right to her in the same room, sat a small area of... arcade games? Wow that's a first she thought.

She finally looked ahead and in the center of the room three steps above the floor of the room she was standing in, on a platform area sat a huge office mahogany table with many things sitting atop but her eyes were on something else, or someone else per se.

Wow! He's...Hot! She thought. Easily the sexiest man she's ever seen who wasn't a model either, or maybe he was, who knows.

She realized she's spent a considerable amount of time just admiring around her that it would have been awkward by now, only if he had his attention on her. But he kept his head down, busy working on some documents.

She cleared her throat and walked ahead crossing the lounge kinda looking room and stepped up into the actual office part of this room.

He still hasn't looked up so she cleared her throat again. This time he lifted his head up slowly, eyes on her but before he could look all the way up to her face and say something, he looked back down.

She didn't know what to interpret by his attitude.

She tried again, this time in a sweet yet professional voice.

"Good Morning Mr. Zoldyck" Says her

But he doesn't reply and keeps working.

She clears her throat for the third time, getting agitated by his actions...or rather the lack of them.

He still doesn't look up, though this time he utters "it's your interview isn't it? Then why are you expecting me to say something? You talk I'm listening..."

So His Rudeness speaks! She thought to herself. When she comprehended what he said; what? she thought, am I here to sell him cookies or something?

Trying to begin but didn't know how as she was still fairly new at this. And his "very welcoming" attitude was helping her wonders. Note the sarcasm.

"Umm I, uh.. I'm.. well my name is..-" she tried to begin. However was rudely interrupted.

"The world didn't get any better and you didn't get any taller with all your umm uhh ee ooo's. Get to the point already"

All that may or may not have affected her, considering she took his indifferent snobby attitude fairly well till now; however, that height remark hit home for her and she wasn't the one to just stand there and be body shamed like that because well, that's what she thought it was. Also because 'inches' were a sensitive subject of discussion for her.

"Ok... well the point is apart from your clear lack of interviewing skills you seem to be stacking up pretty high on ill manners. You look them in the eye when you talk to someone, and especially when they are your guest", she's not generally a rude person, though she also doesn't believe in simply offering your other your cheek when someone slaps on it; she relies on her witty tongue and her astuteness in those state of affairs. And this is proving to be those times.

He scoffed "And pray tell, what makes you think you are my guest" he got mildly amused by her sudden change in attitude from nervous applicant to a sharp snapper.

"These are your premises aren't they? You invited us here, today and I'm not currently in your employment, so what does that make me?" she was technically right he knew that.

"A sassy bitch?" He mumbled that part clearly not wanting her to hear him, not that her cared for her feelings in the slightest but he likes to keep his image spotless and shiny so as not to attract attention towards him regarding the matters he's usually the one behind. But she heard him, alright.

"Pardon, I dint quite catch that?" she says with a hint of challenge in her voice

He maintained his callous behavior yet looked up because no matter how small, he never cowers from a challenge.

He looked up with a thought in mind, undesirable. That's how he found her to be. He likes his women tall, but she's too short; he likes them curvy, she's petite; busty, she's small chested; preferably blonde, she's a brunette. Nice taste in shoes though. That's what he thought looking at her, toe to head.

He stopped objectifying her and lastly looked her in the eye, taking in her face. Fully expecting to be unimpressed with this feature of her's too, like everything else about her. Although the unexpected happened, got him to stop for a second to wonder; has he ever seen a more beautiful face before? So perfect, so innocent? Is she even as acquitted as she looks? Her natural splendor got him to be distracted, for just a second or two. Though a second too long, he thought; as no one ever managed to incite such a reaction from him. Nonetheless, he didn't let it show.

"Oh I'm sure you've caught a lot in your life with that pretty, smart little mouth of yours-" his little smirk, that hint in his voice was a clear indication his words indeed meant to fall more on the X-Rated side. He got up from his seat to his full height and rounded his table to stand in front of her, maintaining a fair distance "-but I'm sorry to tell you, you didn't catch this job, today" in the end he had a small sympathetic smile on his face as if he was actually sorry to say that. However she was no dumb girl, she saw right through that fake empathy and could feel the smug arrogance emanating from him.

She scoffed rolling her eyes; at this point she was certain she wasn't getting a job here even before he said it. "Of course, I didn't expect many sensibly high decisions from an ass of a spoilt billionaire brat" it's was obvious now, his words earlier, pissed her off.

"Fyi, that's not really the job of an ass. The decisions are pretty much all made from the thing that's up here-" he gestured to his temple "-which I'm convinced you wouldn't know anything bout"

His tight smile showed he's beginning to 'less' enjoy their squabbling, by this time.

"Yeah? How about next time point you at your knees, that'll be right in your case" she was not about backing down.

He took a step forward in her direction; a small distance left between them yet she didn't step back even as he towered over her. His small forced smile now gone.

"You know first you made sure you wouldn't get a job here, now your only just making sure you don't get a job anywhere, in the entire city" he kept staring at her with a straight face and continued "keep talking and it'll change to the whole damn country"

"So that's how it's gonna be now? A much smaller girl compared to you, in every way; who by the way is a nobody, show the guts hand you over your unnecessary BS; and Mr. sensitive gets so offended you threaten her with cheap shots? What's gonna happen next? You gonna cry to mommy if I call you a bad word?" she made an innocent child like face with rounded eyes wiggling her right fist to the side of her eye and made a pout all to emphasize her last words but mainly to piss him off further.

"Honey, that was me being polite; trust me when I say this you don't want me threatening you".

"First the cheap shots and now the big words. Is there anything normal to say in your dictionary? Even though you're far from it"

"Yeah how about this, get the fu** out of my office!"

He yelled loudly, totally losing his years of practiced composure and forgetting about half a dozen people sitting out in the waiting lounge for their interview, his secretary, all the clients waiting for the meeting that was due in five minutes and some of his other employees. They might not have heard his little outburst if it wasn't for his bad luck that his secretary opened his office doors to remind him of his next meeting right before he let loose.

Everybody was shocked to say the least, they never saw him that way and especially not with a lady; which is extra douchey even for some habitual douche.

He realized what happened and was fuming in hot rage, blaming all that happened solely on her. Shutting his eyes and taking a deep breath he opened them, only to see her not quivering in fear of him which he wanted, instead smiling triumphantly with wide eyes catching on to the dilemma he got in, because of his own egotistical self, also somewhat because of her by extension; which only made her happier.

She smiled sweetly and said "now I will, gladly"

She turned to leave but he stopped her before she opened the door to leave; saying "Before u leave miss...I'm full of guts 'don't ever show your face in my office again. No matter how beautiful it is, next time, I won't hesitate rubbing it in shit". He warned her whilst going back and sitting in his chair with the poise of a king.

She half turned to face him for the last time, or so they both thought.

"Don't forget to pick your class when I'm gone, it's broken around your feet" rolling her eyes she left.
