Burning Down All The Ships

Cynric laughed as he shoved cake into Nix's face, the other quickly eating it before doing the same to him. This resulted in cake being thrown at one another, but who cares? It's their wedding day.

"Alright, alright!" Cynric chuckled, smearing the frosting on Nix's white suit. "This is getting out of hand."

Nix smirked. "Oh? Is your highness too royal to have cake smeared on his perfect face?"

Cynric shook his head, a smile creeping up on his perfect face. "Not quite. I just wanted to spare you the embarrassment of losing to me."

Nix strolled over to Cynric and wrapped his arms around Cynric's neck. "How generous." He gave his love a sweet smile before making Cynric faceplant into a plate full of cake. "Sadly, I don't need your pity~."

Cynric came up for air, his face caked with... well, cake. "OH IT'S ON!!"

Darling gave a soft tap on the sturdy door, shuffling a little anxiously on the welcome mat. He waited a few minutes before he went to knock again, only to stop when someone opened the door.

A young, teenage skeleton paused and looked Darling up and down before he turned towards the kitchen. "Hey, your boyfriend is here!" As he spoke, Darling couldn't help but stare at his prosthetic limbs. They seemed to be working fairly well for scraps of plastic and metal.

Willow popped his head out of the kitchen doorway and smiled, waving Darling over. The smaller obliged, walking in carefully over to where the other was. "Hey."

Willow smiled at him and walked over to a cupboard, fishing out a kettle before filling it with water. "Good afternoon, Darling. How is Cynric?"

Darling leaned against the counter, relaxing in the calm, quiet atmosphere. "Well, he just got married. Working for those two is..." he dragged a tired hand down his face. "...exhaustive."

Willow chuckled quietly, setting the kettle on the stove to boil. "Oh? They finally tied the knot?"

He nodded. "During the wedding ceremony, the two started throwing cake at each other. It took some times to clean that mess up."

This time, Willow couldn't help but laugh. "They sound like a handful. I might want to invite them over soon."

Darling shook his head. "They are currently on their honeymoon. I think it would be best to leave them be for now."

Willow sighed, setting up the tea and pouring it. "Well, what brings you to my home then?"

"A break." Darling took a seat at the table, resting against the chair. He seemed tired.
Willow brought a tray of tea, sugars, and a few snacks, setting them down on the table. He took a seat across from Darling and handed him his cup, which Darling took gratefully. "So, I noticed that Finch has prosthetics now."

Willow took a sip of his drink. "Philomath visited nearly everyday with a new model for him to try. It seems that the one he has now works the best."

"Mm." Darling took a sip, closing his eye-socket for only a moment to enjoy the warmth spreading through him. "How... are the flowers I got you doing?"

Willow brightened at that. "Oh, just wonderfully! They are so beautiful and I can't even thank you enough for getting them for me!"

Darling looked to the side, his face growing warmer. "It's nothing. If it makes you happy, then I can go get some more."

"Really?" Willow smiled. "Then, could I come with you to get more this time?"

Darling shrugged. "If you... Really want to."

Willow nodded. "Then it's settled. Shall we go tomorrow?"

Darling shrugged again. "Whenever you want to."

Finch walked into the kitchen before Willow could reply, snatching up a few snacks and eating some. Willow turned to him. "Finch, do you want to go to Dr. Philomath's place tomorrow or stay here?"

Finch rose an imaginary eyebrow. "Where are you going?"

"Flower hunting."

Finch nibbled on some more snacks. "I'll stay here."

Willow turned back to Darling. "I'll see you tomorrow morning."

Darling smiled. "Sounds like a plan."
