☆ Chapter 9 ☆
The courtroom was silent when Jungkook walked in a few minutes late. Everyone in the room turned their heads to look at him, including the one he had missed the most.
Park Jimin was sat in a fancy suit that made him look so wonderful. His blonde hair was split down the middle and styled beautifully. Their eyes quickly met and Jungkook looked for a sign of sympathy, but found none. The Jimin with the kind eyes and bright smile was gone.
What made it all worse was the blonde haired man beside him, holding Jimin's hand tightly.
Min Yoongi.
Jungkook looked away and sat down next to his attorney. The man gave him a sad smile before looking back up to the judge.
The woman cleared her throat and shot a glare at both Jimin and Jungkook. They were a huge scandal in the sports world that no one really wanted to deal with anymore. Camera crews stood at the walls recording every last bit of footage they could from the second Jungkook entered the room.
"Good afternoon gentlemen. I have reviewed your case and agree with the standards that Park Jimin has set, but Mr. Jeon, out of the goodness of you my heart I'd like to hear you testify. You can come up and say your last words to Mr. Park."
Jungkook was surprised at this and his heartbeat began to pulse through his ears and make him a bit shaky, but he still found himself shuffling up to the stand to talk to Jimin. He had no idea what to say, but it was worth a shot.
"Thank you, your honor."
He looked down at his lap after sitting down and took a deep breath. When he looked up his eyes trailed over to Jimin who seemed intrigued, but still gave him a cold stare.
"This morning I could have thought of a million words to say, but after seeing you obviously moving on most of them have been taken from me. All except...maybe three, I love you. I truly don't think that will ever change. That's why I don't care if you take all of my money, reputation, and happiness. I have a lot of debts to pay starting back from the very first day I met you, when you helped me with my scraped knee after I fell off my tricycle.
You've been helping me and saving me ever since that day when we were only little kids. What I did to you was wrong, so wrong, but I want you to know that in that process I truly fell in love you. My Jiminie was back and so was my happiness—"
Jungkook's voice cracked and he let out a shaky breath. He looked up at Jimin who had tears in his eyes and was no longer holding Yoongi's hand.
"I'll give you everything Park Jimin. I always will. The only thing I ask is that someday you'll find it in you to forgive me. Even if I never see you again. Please forgive me. I'd say forget too, but maybe you've already done that. One thing is for sure though Jimin, I will never forget you. You hit the home run straight into my heart, I hope at some point in our lives I did the same to you. Thank you."
Jungkook was shaking and tears ran down his face as he stood from the platform and raced back towards his seat, but instead of sitting down he ran back through the doors and out of the building.
Outside the doors he was met with the press and he couldn't deal with that right now, so he ran instead.
He ran down the sidewalk in his dress shoes without a care in the world. He ran until his legs began to burn, but he was sad to see he was only a few blocks away from the courthouse and someone had caught up with him. He was really out of shape without baseball in his life.
"What the fuck was that?!"
He was met with a teary eyed Jimin and a slap to the face.
"We can't be within fifty feet of each other anymore."
"It doesn't matter when nobody is fucking counting Jungkook. Besides, I took that off of the contract."
Jungkook looked at him in confusion as tears somehow continued to run down his face.
"Why?"
"Because it's stupid and you are too!"
Jungkook gulped and took a deep breath.
"I know I am. That's why I agreed to the dare in the first place." His voice cracked at the end and his lips trembled. Jimin couldn't do anything but watch the man in front of him crumble.
He looked like a little kid with the disheveled hair and big doe eyes. It truly broke his heart to look at him. But what Jungkook did was just so awful. How were they supposed to move on from that?
"I'm sorry." Jungkook whispered before falling to the ground.
"Jungkook!"
Jimin practically threw himself to the ground next to him and turned the boy over onto his back. His eyes were closed and lip busted from the impact. His forehead had a cut too and Jimin didn't hesitate before taking off his jacket and pressing it to the wound.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck Jungkook wake up please."
He hovered over him and lightly patted the younger's cheeks hoping that would help stir him awake. It must have worked a bit since Jungkook let out a small groan.
"Kook please you have to help me okay. You have to help me get you up, alright?"
Jungkook groaned again and lightly grabbed Jimin's arm. The smaller man grunted as he pulled Jungkook into a sitting position. Jungkook whimpered in pain and slumped over against Jimin.
"Alright Jungkook breathe. Let's take a break, then we'll get up okay?"
He didn't hear anything so he moved away and watched Jungkook's head drop forward.
"Hey no no no, Jungkook come on." He pleaded before cupping his hands on the man's cheeks and lifting his head up. Jungkook's eyes barely cracked open, but when they did more tears from earlier pooled out. Jimin quickly wiped them away with the pads of his thumbs and for the first time that day, he smiled.
"Stay with me, Kook okay?"
"I'll never leave you." Jungkook mumbled in barely a whisper. Jimin rolled his eyes since that's not what he had meant when he asked Jungkook that, but the promise still made warmth flutter in his chest,
and love flow to his heart.
