Grey eyes fluttered open to look up at the familiar ceiling of her room. She had no idea who had brought her back to her apartment and when but the last thing she remembered was hearing Jason's voice so that clearly meant she wasn't in any trouble at the moment.
Though she felt a hand interlaced through hers so she turned over, switching on the night lamp as she couldn't find her crossbow beside her bed. However, she figured that there was no need of the crossbow since the person beside her right then was none other than Alex.
She could recognize those sandy brown hair anywhere and she leaned over to see that he was sitting cross legged on the floor, his head resting on the mattress. Brushing back the messy hair from his forehead, she saw that his eyes were closed as he was asleep but traces of worry still lingered on his features.
At last she sat up, retrieving her hand from his and that movement roused him.
"Helena?"
"Hey, you could have just slept beside me you know," she remarked, watching him stand up though it was no surprise that he was stiff due to the uncomfortable position he had fallen asleep in.
"I didn't want to disturb you," he remarked and then asked the question he was hoping to get a positive reply, "how are you now?"
"I'm okay," she replied and scooted over to make space for him on the bed, "here, come up."
He groaned a little as the blood that had frozen rushed down to his limbs but sat on the bed, arms wrapping around her carefully.
She could sense that he had gotten very worried for her as he didn't let go, head nestling in her neck. "Hey, when did you come here?"
"Last night," he replied.
"And how did you find out?" Her fingers gently ran through his hair and that was when he did tilt his head to look at her.
"Jason called."
She nodded, "that figures..."
"You sure you're okay?"
"Of course, Alexander, this was nothing. I've been through way worse scenarios."
He knew she would say that but just because she was the Huntress, it didn't mean she was invincible. And last night's mishap had clearly shown that.
Deep down, Helena was fuming at that sinister shadowy creature, vowing to make it pay for all the damage it had caused.
"Shall I make breakfast?"
She was shaken out of her thoughts but she hadn't heard him clearly, "what?"
"Do you want to have breakfast?" He repeated the question.
Her eyes flickered towards the clock, "it's just seven. I want you to stay here."
"Okay."
She had made him lay down with her and pulled the blanket over both of them. She leaned closer to kiss his cheek but he tilted his head, capturing her lips instead.
As they kissed, she felt him relax, his hand gently weaving through her hair as he let her deepen the moment.
It was rather evident that he had gotten a lot tensed earlier and knowing Al's habit of overthinking, she knew he would have spent the previous hours up thinking about all the worst outcomes they could get stuck in.
She did not want him to worry that much for her. No one else had done so before and she preferred it that way.
Worrying came with a price and Helena hated to even think about it.
"Don't worry too much, my sweet little squirrel," she mumbled as she pulled apart, fingers lingering on his cheek, "I'm absolutely fine and much better now that you're here with me."
He nodded though his eyes were still full to the brim with concern. "I love you, Len. And I can't bear to lose you."
She knew very well that he meant it, she could see it in his eyes. Alex genuinely cared for her and loved her but there were times when she found herself questioning their relationship.
She felt as if he gave too much and too selflessly while she put him in a lot of danger by just being with him.
Right then as his honey shaded irises were looking at her with so much concern, she found herself wondering whether she would react the same way of something happened to him or not and a shudder passed down her spine.
"Helena..."
She sighed, her hands trailing down to his chest as she snuggled closer. Her mind was a clutter of thoughts and she did not know what else to say to him. "Stop overthinking and take a rest, okay? When we wake up, we'll have breakfast together."

He had come to the kitchen to make breakfast while Helena had stepped in the bathroom to take a shower. It took him a while to find all the things needed but got to work shortly after.
He had found an apron which he tied over his shirt and rolled the sleeves up to his elbows as he fetched a pot and put it on the stove to make coffee. On the other hand, he whipped up the batter to make pancakes.
Soon enough, a delicious aroma wafted through the kitchen as he poured out the frothing coffee and flipped over the pancakes.
Helena had come to the kitchen as well, her wet hair falling down her shoulders and the bandages were gone from her face and neck, revealing the thin cuts left on her skin as a result of the attack last night.
His eyes flickered in concern again but he did not ask anything as he set the breakfast on the table and pulled out a chair for her. He had realized that she did not like being asked a lot about herself so he let it slide for the time being.
"Pancakes and coffee," he smiled and watched her nod in affirmation.
"Looks delicious."
"Will be too, I promise," he remarked, sitting down on the chair across from her.
Alex noted that Helena was very silent throughout breakfast. Her face was set into a thoughtful look and she wasn't even eating her share.
"Len, what happened?"
She looked up, "nothing."
"Is there something wrong with the food?"
She shook her head, taking a bite out of the pancakes at last, "of course not, it's delicious."
He thought perhaps she was thinking about last night again and trying to figure out who had attacked her so he didn't ask further.
"Did you tell Dora you were here?" She spoke up finally and he nodded.
"Jason said he would tell her since I had left in a hurry and forgot my phone at home too."
"Oh... You shouldn't have done that."
He was about to say that he was too worried for her to remember taking his phone or telling Dora but stopped himself in time. She already looked in a somewhat pensive mood and he didn't want to make matters worse for them.
"Alexander, I really appreciate you came here and stayed with me but I think you should go back now. Dora must be getting worried by now and I think it's time to open the shop too."
He looked at the time, "yeah, I guess."
"Family comes first, y'know."
He felt as if something was off with her but didn't ask just yet, "sure. Call me if you need me for anything."
She smiled, "I won't. I am okay."
He looked at her closely but then shrugged it off, "alright... See you then?"
"Yeah, bye Alexander."
