Chapter 13: Woods 12-17-16

Aragorn: 8 years old

As he ran to her room, he knelt and took a dagger that was stuck into a dead Orc on the ground. There were still Orcs everywhere, but the Elves were doing a good job fighting them off. Aragorn ran up the couple of steps to Arwen's door. He stopped and listened. He heard a scream from within and closed his eyes while taking a deep breath.

He thought back to the wolves he had seen in the forest.

Maybe I can be a fighter too.

Aragorn burst into Arwen's room and held up the already bloody dagger in his hand. There were five Orcs in the room along with Arwen who was standing on her bed. Everybody looked to the wide-open door with Aragorn in front.

"Kill him!" one Orc called out to the rest.

Aragorn felt the handle of the dagger in his hand and planted the tip of it in one of the oncoming Orcs. He jumped out of the way as the first Orc fell with a loud thud. He took the knife out of the dead Orc and looked ahead to the remaining enemies.

Four left.

One was going after Arwen. Aragorn reflected the sword of the orcs coming at him and ran for Arwen. He was so small compared to the tall, bulky Orcs in which it was easy for him to dodge the strickes of the Orcs.

The downside of the fight was that the Orcs were so strong compared to Aragorn. He took up his small knife clumsily and it clashed against another sword inches from his face.

Aragorn jumped on Arwen's bed and kicked the Orc out of the way with his right foot. Then as the Orc tumbled backward with a groan, Aragorn jumped onto it and stabbed it through the head.

Three left.

He quickly got off the fallen Orc, but one grabbed him from behind. Arwen screamed as the Orc punched him in the face hard. Aragorn's face fell trying to concentrate from after the blow.

"Stop your squirming! You're both going to be stuck and die slowly!" the Orc spat with a smile lurking on his blood dripping face.

"No!" Aragorn screamed and stabbed the orc in the face making more blood drip down.

Two left.

The dagger slipped from Aragorn's hand because of all the blood that had gushed out of the Orcs face. Orc blood and his own covered his hands. The other two Orcs pinned Aragorn to the wall. Arwen was paralyzed as she stood behind the two Orcs panicking. She didn't know what to do.

"Don't move," one Orc said, "I enjoy watching my victim suffer,"

He grabbed his own knife and put it under Aragorn's chin.

Aragorn met Arwen's eyes from behind the Orcs. His eyes pleaded for her to do something. She wanted to do something, but she was too scared to move.

The second orc turned around and grabbed Arwen by the arm. She screamed again loudly and managed to grab a book on her desk. She slapped the book against the Orcs hands that were gripping her tightly.

"Let go!" she cried.

Aragorn and Arwen made eyes contact again. Aragorn waited for the right moment, and when the Orc holding him turned his head towards Arwen, he kicked it the shines. He did it again and the Orc growled and let go. The knife fell and made a thin slit under Aragorn chin.

Aragorn reached for it and stabbed the Orc dead through the back. Arwen had started crying out of fear and dropped the book. Aragorn could tell she was scared.

"Let her go," Aragorn shouted.

"Make me!" the Orc said and grasped Arwen tighter around her arm.

The Orc took a horn from his belt and put it to his lips.

No!
Aragorn knew that if he blew the horn all would be over. All the Orcs that had come to Rivendell would come here and take him and Arwen away or kill them.

"No!!!" Aragorn leaped upon the Orc knocking the horn out of his hand.

The horn fell to the ground and so did the Orc, Aragorn, and Arwen. Aragorn got up, but tripped as the Orc on the ground grabbed his leg.

"It's over!" it said.

"No, not yet," Aragorn said seeing what Arwen was doing, "There is always hope,"

Arwen got up and grabbed her book again. The Orc pulled Aragorn closer to him and smiled with his wickedly sharp teeth. It grabbed Aragorn by his shirt and drew him in.

"One bite will make you stop," the Orc said drooling.

As quick as lightning, the Orc arched over and bite Aragorn in the shoulder. Startled, he screamed in pain and surprise. Arwen wacked the book straight across the back of the Orcs head. The Orc fell on top of Aragorn unconscious from the harsh blow.

Aragorn crawled out from underneath the Orc. His hand went up to his wounded shoulder. His own flesh was showing from the bite and the part of the clothing of his shoulder was completely gone.

"Are you okay?" Arwen crouched down next to Aragorn.

"We have to get out of here," Aragorn said ignoring her question.

He stood up and Arwen steadied him.

"But, your hurt," Arwen insisted.

"I will be fine,"

Arwen stayed by his side as she worried about him.

"Follow me," Aragorn whispered and opened Arwen's building doors.

Arwen grabbed her coat and put it on. It was brown and flowy. It looked comfortable and warm. Aragorn found her hand and Arwen blushed. Good thing it was dark out or he would have seen.

"Where are, we going?" Arwen asked.

"To the forest. We have to hide," Aragorn explained, "That's what Elrond wanted me to do,"

Aragorn and Arwen walked quickly through Rivendell and then into the woods.

"I know where we can go," Arwen said, "Follow me,"

Aragorn followed her trying to keep up. His shoulder hurt badly and so did his head. Arwen led him to a tree. A dead tree that was enormously huge. There was a small hole at the base of the trunk. It was just like the tree Aragorn had been hiding in the night he had been accused of not being wanted and being adopted.

"We can stay in here. The tree is hollow on the inside," Arwen said.

Arwen crawled through the small hole at the base of the trunk. Aragorn looked around the forest and saw nothing. He crawled in too. Inside the trunk of the tree was completely hollow just as Arwen had said. It was tall too and as Aragorn looked up he could see the grey clouds in the sky. It was getting increasing cold.

"This is a great spot. How did you find it?" Aragorn asked.

"I was playing 'hide and seek' with some of the other Elves and I found this spot,"

"Hide and seek?"

"Yes, it's where everybody hides and then somebody has to find you," Arwen explained.

Aragorn nodded. He looked down to his wounded shoulder and took a deep breath.

"Are you okay?" Arwen asked again.

There was just enough space in the hollow tree for both to hug their legs to their chests. They sat on opposite sides of each other. Aragorn nodded with a weak smile.

They were both quiet after that, taking in all of what had happened that night. It was quiet for about ten minutes. Aragorn had his head tucked into his knees. It was beginning to get truly cold and he was freezing.

"Len Hannon," (Thank you) Arwen finally whispered.

Aragorn lifted his head a little to look at her. He cocked his head and asked,

"What?"

"It means thank you," Arwen smiled.

Aragorn smiled back,

"You're welcome,"
