Chapter 50: Aragorn v.s Lagorion 2-18-17

Aragorn: 17 years old

"Our third Trial, round one will consist of Estel vs Lagorion. Please step forward and listen to the rules," Elrond announced.

This Trial would determine who would be the last two Elves standing for the fourth, and final Trial. The four that where left where Aragorn, Lagorion, and Elf named Thokile and Greakth. The two that win this round would go against each other in the final Trial.

Aragorn couldn't believe he was going against his best friend who had taught him how to defend himself. Lagorion was feeling the same way and didn't want to hurt Aragorn. They both walked out into the middle of the circle together avoiding eye contact.

Tahl went over the rules and gave Aragorn and Lagorion their wooden weapons. Then he shouted,

"Go!"

Aragorn and Lagorion didn't move one inch from where they stood. Lagorion looked around and Aragorn shrugged as he gripped his sword tighter.

"I can't do this," Lagorion whispered and took a step closer to Aragorn.

Aragorn took a step back feeling as though Lagorion was tricking him. He shook his head and looked down, but was still aware of what Lagorion was doing in front of him.

"Who's going to start?" Aragorn asked tense.

Lagorion shrugged, so Aragorn did what he must. He ran full force at his friend and brought up his sword. Lagorion acted quick and deflected it with his own weapon. Aragorn saw Lagorion smile, so he smiled back.

"Pretend it's like in the woods," Lagorion said quietly.

Aragorn and Lagorion clashed their swords for at least ten minutes straight, Aragorn tiring fast. Lagorion sensed it and told himself to just finish him off, but he couldn't. Lagorion swung his sword horizontally, and Aragorn through up his arms and jumped back fast avoiding the impact.

Lagorion came at Aragorn again and Aragorn ducked under his legs and rolled. Lagorion knew he would do that and he stumped his foot hard on his friend's leg. Aragorn screamed out in pain and Lagorion jumped back in shock. The whole audience gasped and stood on the edges of the circle tensed up.

Glancing over at Elrond, Lagorion noticed him to be holding his breath as the battle went on. As Lagorion had been watching Elrond, Aragorn had shakily gotten up and wacked Lagorion in the back with his sword. Lagorion whirled around and brought down the handle of his sword onto Aragorn's face. As the handle hit Aragorn in the face, both heard a crack and Aragorn howled in pain.

Aragorn doubled over and Lagorion kicked him in the stomach. The impact made Aragorn fell on to his back onto the ground with a groan. Lagorion's hands immediately went to his mouth as he looked down to Aragorn and what he had done to him.

Aragorn lay on his back, his face covered in blood from the blow Lagorion had just sent to his face with the sword. Aragorn felt dazed and the sky was turning black around him, Lagorion was fading if front of him.

His free hand went up to his nose and as he touched it, he screamed again. His nose was broken. Tears formed in his eyes, not so much because of the physical pain, but the mental pain.

Lagorion did this to me... Lagorion? But he had to, it's okay... calm down...

Lagorion turned away from Aragorn feeling sick as he looked at his broken friend. His hands where on his head and he was debating what to do. He finally turned around and looked to Aragorn again who only was looking at him through half closed eye lids.

"I can't do this. I can't hurt you," Lagorion said looking straight at Aragorn.

He kneeled next to him and looked into his eyes,

"I did this to you. I don't deserve to win. I'm sorry," Lagorion whispered and closed his eyes.

Tahl walked over to Lagorion and brought him to his feet.

"You aren't allowed to touch him in any way that will help him. Now beat him, now is your chance," he said simply.

"But, I can't, he's my friend," Lagorion said in a more whinny voice than he intended.

"He is a human get over it," Tahl said and shook his head as if Aragorn were a nothing.

That broke Aragorn's heart to pieces knowing that the Elf didn't care. That he was only human. The way he said it was what hurt the most. Tahl walked back to the center of the circle and waited for Lagorion to decide what to do.

"Lag- just- do- it," Aragorn choked on the blood in his mouth and wheezed for more air.

Lagorion started pacing in front of Aragorn not knowing what to do. He looked up to see that Arwen was sobbing into Elrond's shoulder uncontrollably. Lagorion felt like the bad guy and was torn on what to do.

Elladan and Elrohir looked just as worried as Elrond did, but looked as if they would kill Lagorion if he touched Aragorn again. They had always been protective over Aragorn, but they knew they weren't allowed to cross the line into the Trial. Thier eyes were squinting and staring evilishly.

Aragorn started to hear a buzzing noise in his ear and didn't know if he were acually hearing it or not. He brought his free hand to his ear and touched something. He wrapped his fingers around the thing and brought it jerkily to his face. Then opening his fingers slightly, he looked inside his hand and saw what he needed most.

It was an insect. It was a bee. Lagorion had told Aragorn to find his opponents weakness and he knew what Lagorion's was.

He had a fear of bugs!

This was his chance to win. He still had a shot. A small opportunity to win and go to the final Trial.

Aragorn closed his fingers together gently around the bee and looked to Lagorion who was still pacing.

"L-Lag," Aragorn murmured and spat out some of the blood that had accumulated in his mouth.

Lagorion turned and walked over to Aragorn and kneeled next to him.

"What should I do?" Lagorion asked and looked worriedly down at Aragorn with tears forming in his eyes.

Aragorn saw his chance and lifted the hand with the bee in it to Lagorion.

"Open- it," Aragorn said and tried to hide a smile.

Lagorion's eyes traced back and forth between Aragorn's face and his hand. Eventually, with the hand not holding the sword, he reached down and pried open Aragorn's fingers. Aragorn watched Lagorion's face go from worry to complete terror. He saw the bee.

Lagorion jumped back so far and his sword went flying from his hand. He was too fearful to go after it and ran to stand behind Tahl. Aragorn had disarmed Lagorion. That meant he had won the third Trial!

Tahl ran to Aragorn's side just as the bee who had helped Aragorn win, flew away. Tahl took Aragorn's arm and held it to the sky in victory and shouted,

"Estel of hope!"

The crowd of Elves went crazy and started cheering. Elrond came running over to Aragorn who was still laying on the ground in pain. He started coughing as Tahl let go of his arm and continued to lay still.

"Is it gone?" Lagorion asked standing a good distance away from Aragorn and Tahl.

Aragorn nodded slightly and Lagorion rushed to his side. Elrond made it to Aragon's side a moment later and all three Elves surrounded him on the ground.

"I am so sorry, Estel," Lagorion said, "I am so sorry. So, sorry,"

"How do you feel?" Elrond asked looking frantic.

Aragorn pulled something out of his pocket. He held it out to Lagorion and said,

"Rosebottom. You- can- heal- me,"

The small vile that Kenath had given him sat in his fingers waiting for Lagorion to take it. Lagorion snatched it and took the cork out as he murmured,

"Genius!"

Lagorion pored a couple drops onto Aragorn's nose, and Aragon scrunched up his face ready for his nose to crack back into place. It did so making him flinch, but then all the pain was gone. His nose was better and he opened his eyes to see Lagorion, Elrond, and Tahl over him.

"Better?" Elrond asked.

Aragorn sat up and Lagorion immediately grabbed him and pulled him into hug.

"You won!" he shouted happily.

I won!

"I remembered what you said about the weakness strategy," Aragorn explained.

"Yah, you sure did... bees. Ick!" Lagorion said and handed Aragorn back the Rosebottom vile.

Elrond offered to carry his son, but Aragorn refused in front of all the Elves. He didn't like looking or feeling weak.

Elladan and Elrohir appeared behind Lagorion and spun him around.

"If you ever hurt Estel like that again... well," Elrohir stared.

"Your dead," Elladan said simply and pushed Lagorion out of the way.

"Yah, yah, I didn't mean to!" Lagorion tried defending, "I would never break somebodies nose, especially not Estel's,"

Arwen snuck her way into the accumulating crowd as well and gave Aragorn a big hug. He still wasn't looking too well, so Elrond pulled her away. He told the massive amounts of cheering Elves to get out of the way as Aragorn came through. He knew he didn't like the attention or the claustrophobia.

Lagorion took Aragorn by his arm and away from Elrond which angered the Elf. Both friends linked arms and went slowly through the crowd smiling.

A/N: Anyone expecting for him to win again?! :D
