Chapter 13 - They're becoming senile

"Yeah, Naomi, they are our daughters, isn't it crazy? We have wives and children in the future! We become adults," Jordan exclaimed over the phone to Naomi.

Unfortunately, Naomi was out of town this weekend visiting her aunt and couldn't physically meet the girls.

They were making their way back to the car. Bennett decided he did want to smell the flowers and parked quite a bit away from the cafe. It took a while to convince Naomi the girls were from the future.

she questioned the girls about time travel and how it became possible, and what sort of world they were living in, in the future. The girls did their best to answer as many questions as possible for aunt Naomi.

Kendall let it slip that some sort of deadly virus outbreak will happen soon before Gabrielle elbowed her in the stomach. Poor Kendall.

"Wow, this is amazing," Naomi said over the speakerphone. "Though, I always thought Jordan and Declan would end up together,"

"Naomi!"

The girls did nothing but giggle.

"Their fathers may not have ended up together," Estelle began smirking. "But their daughters might."

In the end, Estelle had to hide behind Bennett as Gabrielle and Kendall were held back by Declan and Jordan. Naomi commented how these girls really were their fathers' daughters.

"What are the boys like as fathers? How strict are they?" Naomi enquired over the phone.

"Well..."

It was the night of the big party. Usually, they'd be allowed to go, but since the last incident involving drunken fights, drunken driving and drunken boys, they'd been told no until they could act responsibly. Was that going to be stopping the girls from going? Of course not.

"Thank you for the snacks Uncle Jordy," Estelle smiled sweetly. She took the many bags of popcorn and other treats and set them down on Kendall's bed.

The girls were having a sleepover at Kendall's house, or that's what the parents thought.

"Anytime, girls," Jordan smiled back. "Now, are you sure you have everything?"

Kendall looked around the room. "Snacks, movies, phone chargers, pillows. Yeah, we have everything, thanks dad,"

"Oooh, what movie are you watching?"

"It's this old one, called Mean Girls," Gabrielle answered, getting comfy on the bed.

"Mean girls, good choice. You know, I knew a few means girls back in my high school days," Jordan began, though Kendall cut him off.

"No one wants to hear about the middle ages, dad,"

"Okay fine," Jordan said but perked up again.

"Hey, maybe I could watch-"

"Dad!"

"Okay, okay ladies, I'll leave you to it, have fun and goodnight." The girls each kissed his cheek goodnight, and with that, he shut the door and left. Kendall's smile dropped. "Ugh, I thought he'd never leave,"

The girls laughed before changing out of their pyjama's into going out clothes. Gabrielle wondered out loud. "You'd think they'd know us by now,"

Estelle was putting on her other boot. "C'mon, he's coming to collect us soon. We should be heading out now,"

They made their way to the window, which was above the garage. They'd climbed out of the window onto the garage roof to sneak out the house many times before. This time was no different.

"I mean, this is too easy. You'd think they were never teenagers before," Gabrielle continued.

Kendall finally got her stuff together before opening the window. The three girls climbed onto the roof before making their way to the end to jump off.

"It's because they're getting old. They're becoming senile," Kendall answered once the girls made the jump.

That's when they heard someone clear their throat behind them. The girls froze.

"Who's becoming senile?"

The girls cursed under their breath. They were all here. Slowly, all three girls turned around to come face to face with their fathers. Jordan walked up to them, smiling at the boys win.

"I believe these three thought they were heading out somewhere,"

Declan crossed his arms, smirking. "But I thought we banned them from that party?"

Bennett locked his car with his keys. "I think they thought they were going to sneak out,"

"I guess we outsmarted them,"

"And they thought we weren't teenagers once,"

"Oh girls, you have a lot to learn,"

Kendall looked up meekly, smiling. "So I take it, we're grounded?"

"Until you're 80,"

The boys all fist bumped one another after hearing that story. The girls just rolled their eyes. This was something pretty familiar in their timeline.

"Hmm, sounds about right," Naomi laughed over the phone.

"But it's not like the guys have stopped getting into trouble," Kendall piped up. The girls laughed upon seeing their fathers dumbfounded looks. Naomi was no help egging the girls on to tell their story.

"A little to the left," Bennett called out from his deck chair. Gabrielle grumbled something under her breath and moved the water hose down the left side of the tiled garden.

The Frazier family had thrown a garden party the night before, and now they were left cleaning up. However, she didn't know why they were the ones doing it since Uncle Bennett could very easily hire a clean-up crew.

"It's to build character, Brie," he answered when she asked. She worked all morning, but Gabrielle knows she got the better end of the deal since Kendall was on trash duty and Estelle got given bathroom duty.

"Now a little to the right,"

Gabrielle was running out of patience since all Uncle Bennett did, was sit in his deck chair with his car magazine and lounge in the sun. A smile graced her face. Maybe she could have some fun with this water hose.

"Uncle Bennett, could you get the rake out of the shed? I'd need it for the leaves,"

"Sure, Brie,"

Bennett went into the shed to pick up the rake, giving Gabrielle time to turn the water hose to face him.

"Here, I found the-" He wasn't able to finish his sentence since he was hit with a jet of ice-cold water. He was left in shock from both the unexpected cold shower and the fact Gabrielle was nearly crying from laughing so hard.

"I thought you could do with a little wake-up call, Uncle Benny. I know how hard it must be getting up at your age,"

Bennett clenched his jaw, shaking the droplets off his hair, he started laughing, but his eyes narrowed onto Gabrielle, more specifically onto the water hose. "Give me that!"

Gabrielle hit the ground running, shrieking as Bennett caught up to her, she continued using the water hose to soak him, but Bennett managed to wrestle the hose off her. Water was going everywhere, mixing with the leaves and mud, erasing all of Gabrielle's hard work at cleaning.

Someone cleared their throat. Bennett immediately dropped the hose, and both he and Gabrielle looked up guiltily at the sight of Estelle and her mother.

"It was him!"

"It was her!"

Jordan and Declan hunched over, clutching their stomachs from laughing at the idea of Bennett getting told off. Bennett barely blinked the whole time, muttering words to himself.

Gabrielle turned back to her dad. "I don't know why you're laughing. You're still getting into high school fights at your big age,"

Kendall was sat in her chair outside the principles office. Not a chair, not the chair but her chair. She's there so often she has her own seat. But Kendall wasn't feeling like her usual suave self. She was fuming.

One thing her parents always taught her was to always stand up to bullies. Which is precisely what she did, Riley Thompsons was relentlessly picking on a freshman. Kendall had the unfortunate luck to be of hearing distance. She gritted her teeth, hearing all the names Riley was spewing from her disgusting little mouth. The freshman was on the verge of tears.

"You useless little piece of sh-"

There was no time for words, only action. Safe to say Riley won't be saying anything for a while.

Riley sat opposite Kendall, glaring at her past the ice-pack on her face. Kendall would have been satisfied with her work if the principal hadn't gone and called her parents.

The door opened, and in came- "Uncle Declan?" she asked surprised. She wandered around to see if either Gabrielle or Mason had gotten into trouble, yet no one else was there.

"Hey, Kenny, both your parents are busy with work, so they asked me to come instead,"

Kendall didn't know what to say, but maybe having Uncle Declan here would be better than her parents. "Oh okay, that's cool,"

The door opened again, and in came another man. One could only assume it was Riley's father. He looked livid. He took one look at his daughter and turned to Kendall and Declan. "How dare you lay your hands on my daughter- " he began.

Declan stepped in front of Kendall, glaring down at the man.

He wavered a little before continuing. "What kind of brute are you?"

"Hey! Don't talk to my niece like that!"

Riley took the ice-pack off her face. "Of course you're Declan Lynch, your Gabrielle's dad, huh? Well, now I see where she gets her anger issues from,"

"Hey! Don't talk to my uncle like that!"

Safe to say, Gabrielle's mom was quite surprised when she came to find both her niece and her husband at the principal's office.

Jordan was practically crying at this point. "So you're still getting sent to the principal's office?" he taunted Declan, who defended himself, saying the guy probably deserved it. He did.

Kendall turned to her father. "Oh please, you and Estelle here are the ones getting into the most trouble,"

She and Gabrielle laughed.

Estelle looked annoyed. "Please not in front of my dad,"

Jordan was intrigued. He looked at Estelle, smirking. "What could we possibly have gotten up to,"

Estelle looked at him for what seemed forever, then she broke out into a smirk. "If I tell you now, my dad will ground me for life,"

"But you are moving out soon, so it wouldn't hurt to say it now," Gabrielle reasoned. "That's true,"

Estelle felt calm at last. After a long day, she really needed the break. She felt awful for going against her parents like this, but all the nerves dissipated as she took another drag. She didn't hear the footsteps until it was too late. She threw the blunt out the window, barely stuffing it out. She started frantically waving her arms about, trying to get rid of the smell. The door burst open.

"Hey, Elle- what is that smell?"

"Uncle Jordan?"

"Was that weed?"
