Chapter 6 - I Think My Water Just Broke

"Who's Naomi?"

The boys looked dumbfounded. Mouths hanging open, eyes barely blinking, brains barely functioning.

Gabrielle leaned forward, eyebrows arched as she questioned her father.

"Who the hell is Naomi?"

Declan didn't know how to respond. They don't know about Naomi? What happened to their friendship? Did they stop being friends- Did something happen to her?

"Yo-you don't know about Naomi?" Jordan asked uneasily. He looked to the girls as they nodded their heads.

Kendall leaned over to Estelle. "Did they ever mention a Naomi to us?"

Estelle pondered for a bit but then shook her head. "No, I don't recall a Naomi,"

"Maybe, she was one of our moms' friends?"

Gabrielle answered. "No, I don't remember them ever talking about a Naomi either,"

Estelle agreed. "Plus, we would have met this so-called Naomi,"

They all nodded at this.

Estelle looked over to the boys with an unreadable gaze. "Who is she to you?" The boys cringed, not knowing how to respond.

Bennett began taking a long sip of his milkshake, Jordan scratched the back of his neck, and Declan attempted to hide the blush on his face with a forced cough.

On the other hand, the girls were waiting, arched eyebrows, crossed arms, cracking of knuckles. The boys really didn't know how to respond to this.

Then the girls broke out in laughter. It took a moment for the boys to realise the girls were just messing with them.

"Of course, we know who Naomi is!" Kendall said between a fit of laughs.

"You should have seen your faces!" Gabrielle chuckled, wiping tears from her eyes. Declan grumbled something about it not being funny, but the girls disagreed with him.

Bennett sighed in relief as Jordan told Kendall she was grounded again.

"Aunt Naomi is a big part of our lives, meaning she's still a big part of your lives," Estelle continued once all the laughter died down.

The boys sighed in relief. "Wait, Aunt?" Jordan inquired, trying to sound innocent.

"Yes, Aunt," Kendall confirmed, giving Jordan a stern look. "As in not the mother of your children."

Jordan slumped in his seat and looked at his friends. "After all our hard work- Hey! Don't throw that at me. I was only joking!"

Declan turned back to the girls. "When will we umm, when will we meet your... moms?" The girls smirked.

"All in good time, Uncle Declan, you have a few years before you are to meet them", Estelle waved off.

Gabrielle took a sip of her milkshake before muttering. "You may have already met one of them," She and Kendall giggled whilst glancing at Bennett. He looked back at them.

"What?"

"Nothing,"

The two girls giggled.

"They're just messing with you," Estelle assured, though Bennett didn't miss the quick glare she gave the girls.

"So to reiterate, the four of us are still friends with each other in the future," Jordan asked again, missing the previous interaction.

"Yeah," Kendall answered brightly. "And we're friends with Aunt Naomi's children."

"Naomi had children?!" Declan and Jordan asked incredulously.

"Shocking, isn't it,"

The boys all sat back, processing this. Kendall chuckled to herself before beginning. "You know the second time she was pregnant, you all were with her when she went into labour,"

It had been a while since it was just the four of them. Declan and Bennett had both been busy with work, and Jordan and his family had been in the process of moving. Naomi... well, Naomi had been preoccupied with doctors appointments and baby showers and whatnot.

They sat at a cafe eating their specific flavours; Naomi had a sudden craving for Neopolitan ice cream that she called up the boys and asked if they would accompany her. Her own husband was currently at work. And, of course, the boys said yes. I mean, who would deny the requests of a heavily pregnant woman?

"This is nice," Naomi said as she looked around the table at her friends. She was already overcome with emotions due to her being so close to the due date and just having her best friends for many years by her side as she goes through another milestone. It made her tear up.

"Are you crying, Naomi?" Bennett asked, looking alarmed. The others stopped short of their conversation as they looked at her.

Naomi chuckled as she wiped her tears. "No, well, yes I am, but they're happy tears. I'm just reminiscing on all the years we've been friends,"

Bennett smiled at her. "Yeah, we've had quite an adventure with a fair amount of ups and downs-,"

Jordan snorted. "Yeah, remember senior year when you-"

"Anyway, it's nice to see us all here happy, healthy and successful," Bennett said, cutting Jordan off.

"Yeah, who would have thought Jordan would make it this far?" Declan snickered to himself.

Naomi laughed as Jordan and Declan traded half-hearted insults. She admired how they were still able to bicker, just like when they were teens. She then felt another contraction. They've been happening all morning but few and far apart. Plus, she's had them before, but they weren't labour inducing. This one, however, was.

"AHHH!" Naomi screamed, clutching her stomach. The boys immediately stopped and looked at her.

Declan began rubbing her back as Naomi held the table and started breathing in and out. Eventually, it subsided, and they went back to their ice-creams.

"Have you decided on a name yet, Naomi? I'm thinking Jordan since it can also be used for a girl," Jordan insisted.

He was met with unappreciative looks.

"Now, why would she name the baby after you?"

"Why not? I'm awesome in so many different ways, plus I'll be the baby's Godfather,"

"No, you're not,"

"No, you're not,"

"No, you're not,"

"Okay, fine!"

"AHHH!" Naomi again clutched the table for support. Bennett looked at his watch. "That's less than two minutes between them,"

Naomi looked up, eyes wide. "I think my water just broke,"

"Don't worry. We can buy you another one,"

Declan slapped Jordan on the back of the head. Naomi was going into labour. She turned to Jordan. "Call my husband tell him to meet me in the hospital," as they were getting up.

She turned to Declan. "Get back to my house and pick up the baby bag we have," as she was getting into the car, she turned to Bennett. "JUST DRIVE BENNETT! DRIVE!"

"Yeah, so in the end, Aunt Naomi gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Noelle," Kendall finished the story. "The name was fitting since it rhymed with ours, though Noelle is 14 years younger than us."

"Noah, Naomi's eldest child, is a couple of years younger than us at 16," Estelle informed them.

"Yeah, we try to keep an eye out for him, making sure he's not getting himself into any trouble," Gabrielle continued.

"Though, we don't have to do much since he's pretty much like his mom," Kendall explained.

"Hmm, it's more like he's trying to keep us out of trouble," Estelle concluded thoughtfully.

They all nodded again.

"So, Naomi got married," Bennett mused, leaning back. "Do we know him yet?"

Estelle snorted. "As if we'd tell you that, you'd all scare the poor guy away if you knew too early,"

The boys all nodded, knowing this was very much true.

A thought then came into Bennett's mind. He didn't know why he hadn't asked earlier. "What about you guys? Do you have boyfriends?"

The question had caught the girls off-guard.

This time the boys leaned in with arched eyebrows, crossed arms and cracking knuckles.

Gabrielle had choked on her drink at the question and was currently hitting her chest to try to calm herself down.

Kendall looked everywhere but at the boys, suddenly becoming very interested in the cafe's specials menu.

Estelle had managed to keep her calm. Bennett should have known she wouldn't be very fazed. Other than the slight pink tint on her cheeks and the slightly widened eyes, she went back to her usual composed self.

"No, we don't have boyfriends at the moment," she said cooly.

Gabrielle coughed once more at the other end of the table, but Estelle ignored her.

Declan glanced at Gabrielle before turning his attention back to Estelle.

"Sadly, it doesn't matter though they all suck,"

They all looked at Kendall in surprise. "What? It is sad," She pouted, folding her arms.

"Kenny's sad here because she's had her heartbroken," Gabrielle informed everyone.
