(Ion want to mention hairstyles that much here, but you can also keep it in mind while reading this chapter ! )

Facial features say a big deal about your character, no jokes. Inuzuka Kiba has his trademark canine teeth and red paint on his cheeks. Kakashi has his closed eyed lazy smile (hhhhnggh) and that mask that covers half his face. Sakura has her trademark wide forehead. The list goes on and on.

When making the facial features for your character, particularly one in the narutoverse, think of masks, face paint, eye shape, smiles, skin tone, eye colour, scars, glasses etc. Think of things that would make your character seem like they *fit* into the narutoverse (unless your goal is to make a character who doesn't fit in, in that case, think of Lee's features).

So let's start this off with a list.

1 ) How their facial features and accessories correlate with their clan

Inuzuka generally have canine features. Uchiha have black eyes. Hyuuga have white eyes.

What clan is your oc in? And what are the trademark facial features of that clan? If they aren't in a clan, and are just in a normal shinobi family, then does that make their features plain or not ?(eg brown eyes)

2 ) your oc's personality

Naturally, someone's personality will play into how they present themselves. Kakashi is secretive, so he wears a mask over his face. Sakura was once insecure about her forehead, so she tried to distract from it with a hair tie.

Is your oc a night owl or an insomiac(cant spell it)? They might have bangs under their eyes...unless they are secretive or unable to reveal weakness, then they'll use concealer or powder. Does your oc pay attention to their looks, or do they not care either way? Is your oc someone who goes out more? They'll probably have a tan (emphasis on the probably).

3 ) the image you are trying to portray

In anime, this is important. When i say the image you want to portray, it is completely different from the character's personality. What i mean is, what is the first thing people around your oc see when your oc comes into the room? What sort of vibe does their face give off?

Sloopy eyes and lazy grins give the impression of a lackadasical character who doesnt care( kakashi ) . Glasses give off the feeling of a bookworm or a smart character, or someone who is shy. Pale faces make me think of people who love the indoors, or someone who is mean or icy. Slanted eyes can give a seductive impression or an aggressive one (depends). Lipstick give off a sultry or sexy impression (think fourth Mizukage). Scars give off a hard impression (think Ibiki).

Whatever image you are trying to portray can be in line with the character's personality, or not at all ( to show irony ).

A character like Madara has a powerful, hard to discern, image.

Karin when she takes off her glasses, becomes seductive and sultry.

And haku be a boy (irony)
