Chapter No. 2

(3rd person’s POV)

After school Sigherra went to Polar and Dabi’s dorm to hang out and were surprised to see Violet and a few more people they didn’t know. “Hey girls! The neko over there  with the crystal blue eyes and long brown hair is Crystal. The werewolf over there with the cat hat is Blizzy and you already know Violet and Dabi. Oh! And the girl over there in the black hoodie is Zoro, she doesn’t talk much.” Polar said.

“Let’s play truth or dare!” Violet said as she suddenly appeared in front of them. “Sure!”  Polar, Azura and Sigherra exclaimed. They sat on the couch and around the living room of the dorm. “Okay, who’s first?” Dabi asked. No one moved or spoke. “I’ll go first.” Sigherra said, at last. “Great! Truth or dare?” Dabi asked. “Dare.” She said, immediately.

Dabi made a big show of thinking of a dare, tapping her chin with her index finger and looking up as though she were in deep thought. “Oh, I’ve got it! I dare you to go over to where all those ‘normal’ people are and prove to them that we're harmless hybrids and wouldn’t hurt a fly!” Dabi said with a glint in her eye.

Sigherra stood up and everyone thought that she would leave but instead she smiled and said, “Alright, I’ll do it. I’ll do the dare.” Everyone’s jaws dropped to the floor in shock. “She’s actually doing the dare?! Awesome! But what if something  happens?! What if they come after her with torches and pitchforks?!” Violet asked nervously, but Sigherra was already out the door.

Sigherra ran down the hall to the front doors of the school, and when she got outside the others caught up with her and requested to come with her to do the dare.

“Sure. Just don’t get in the way of my dare. I take these things very seriously. As Azura knows.” She gave out a dry laugh, as though recalling a memory.

“Of course we won’t get in the way! Totally not gonna try to stop you at all!” They said, totally in a inconspicuous way.

They all got a taxi to the town and put on hats or hoods or jackets to cover their ears and tails.

“Hi there! I’’m--- we’re new here and we were wondering if you could tell us why the people here hate hybrids.” Sigherra said to the first person she saw.

“My name is Cameron, and let’s go to the library so I can explain this all, shall we?” He asked and walked towards a tall building.

They all followed him to the library and sat down at a table so he could explain it all.

“It all started half a century ago when there were some hybrids that got mad at the governor of this town because of a misunderstanding. The hybrids got mad-- extremely mad, and attempted to burn down the governor's house-- with him in it, might I add. Ever since that day no one has ever trusted the hybrids again. I think they’re all afraid that those hybrids will try to do the same thing they did all those years ago. Do you want to know what the misunderstanding was? The hybrids were demanding to be a part of the town’s council so they could feel like they belonged. It's a really stupid thing in my opinion. The governor turned them down and that’s what made them so angry in the first place. I wish their whole ordeal never happened, y’know? Then all the hybrids would be treated equally instead of being cast away and hidden in the side of a mountain.” Cameron said.

“Wow. That was quite an earful. I really don’t get why people hate us--- I mean THE hybrids anyway.” Sigherra said, and shook her head.

“What do you mean when you said, ‘us’? I mean, it’s not like you're all secretly hybrids that we're playing truth or dare and one of you was dared to come here to find out the truth about why hybrids are treated as outcasts. Right?” Cameron asked, meanwhile everyone’s jaws hit the floor.

Without even trying he had gotten it spot-on and correctly guessed why they were there in the first place.

“Thank you for your help, Cameron, it’s greatly helpful.” Dabi said. “Yes, very interesting information indeed. I would love to know what people think of those hybrid monstrosities.” A person said from behind Sigherra. Sigherra shrieked and fell out of her seat and her hood almost fell off. She glared at the person as she shoved her bangs out of her face.

It was a boy, no older than 16, who had black hair with a dark blue streak in his bangs. He wore a black hoodie with the hood pushed back, and black jeans with dark blue sneakers. He had a rebellious look, and his lip was curled in disgust in the world. His eyes were black as night and he had skin pale enough to be mistaken for a vampire hybrid.

“Who are you?” Sigherra asked him, still glaring. “Name’s Ein. My dad’s the governor of this pathetic town. I’m glad my grandfather cast away all those hybrid monstrosities.” He said with a dark smile. Sigherra growled under her breath and rose from her spot, ready to attack.

Azura and Polar held her back and Ein just laughed. “Well well, look at you. Trying to scare me? Not gonna work. And what’s with that growling thing? Makes you seem like a mutt.” He said.

“That’s enough Ein.” Cameron said, as he rose from his seat. Ein scoffed. “Are you standing up for these strangers, Cameron? You can't protect everyone all the time. You actually make people think they’re weak and can't protect themselves.” Ein said with a smirk before walking off.

“C’mon girls. We need to head back to school before it gets too late.” Crystal said and Violet nodded in agreement.

(Sigherra’s POV)

We headed back to school and went back to Polar and Dabi’s dorm.

“Well that was exciting.” Violet said with a dry laugh. “Wanna order a pizza?” Crystal asked and everyone laughed. “Always with the pizza Crystal, or should we call you Crustal.” Violet teased.

“I’m gonna head home. We have school tomorrow anyway.” Azura said and waved before leaving. “Let’s get some pizza and Grey's Anatomy on before I die!” Crystal exclaimed before faceplanting onto the couch.

I sat down on the floor and grabbed the remote as Crystal ordered pizza. “So, you guys wanna watch some anime?” I asked. “Of course!” Violet, Dabi, Polar, Blizzy, and surprisingly Zoro said.

Everyone fell silent and looked at Zoro. “You… spoke?” Violet asked. Zoro nodded. “I feel like everyone here is someone I can trust. I don’t trust that Ein guy, though. He seems like a stuck-up, snobby rich kid to me. I do trust Cameron though, for some reason. Except, there’s something he’s hiding. I don’t know what it is though, but it’s definitely something he doesn’t want his town to know.”

“Really? He’s hiding something? But he seems so… normal. Obviously.” I said and everyone else nodded.

“I ordered the pizza! I hope everyone here is okay with stuffed crust and pepperoni on their pizza!” Crystal announced as she walked into the room, “Woah, the mood in here has changed a lot. What, did Zoro talk and point out something we didn’t know?”

“Yep.” Zoro said and Crystal fell backwards onto the couch. “She… spoke?” Crystal asked herself, “This is amazing! Now we need to celebrate! Zoro, what do you like watching on T.V?” Crystal asked as she shot up off of the couch.

“It’s no big deal, Crystal. I just trust you guys, that’s all. But, I do enjoy watching Assassination Classroom. It’s an awesome anime.” Zoro said with a smile.

I just watched everyone with a smile. It’s good to know that Zoro trusts us. “Hey Polar, can I talk to you for a sec?” I asked, and waved Polar over to where I was.

She nodded and we went outside into the hallway. “What’s up?” Polar asked. “Just wondering, what exactly is Zoro? I mean, she’s always wearing that hoodie so I don't really know if she has ears or a tail. What is she?” I asked.

“Oh, you see, Zoro has an ability to see people’s personality and the aura they emit. She can tell if someone’s a good person or not. On top of that she can make herself invisible to one person. She’s quite remarkable, really. I’m just happy I get to be her friend.” Polar said, smiling.

I walked back inside as Polar’s phone rang.

Zoro waved me over to where she was standing away from the others, who were fighting over what show to watch. I walked across the room to Zoro and she looked around the room quickly before looking back at me. “There's something off about Polar. It’s like she’s not who she seems to be. Like she’s got two faces and only shows us the good face. And the fact that she’s always being nice to everyone creeps me out. Even her smile looks to perfect to be real. I feel like there’s another side to her that we don’t know about. I just want you to be cautious around her, is all.” Zoro said, before going back to the others as Polar walked in.

“Hey guys! What’d I miss?” She asked in an overly enthusiastic tone. “Nothing much, we're just deciding on a movie to watch.” Dabi replied.

A few arguments later…

“I found one! I found a movie to watch! Let’s watch that popular youtube show by Joey Graceffa!” Blizzy exclaimed. “Good idea.” I replied, a smile on my face. I’d been waiting to watch the show with someone but, quite frankly, Azura hates youtube.”It weakens the mind and kills brain cells.” She’d say.

After we watched a few episodes I checked the time and decided it was time to go home. “Bye guys! Night!” I called as I left.

When I got back to my dorm and face planted onto my bed.

“Night Azura!” I mumbled, and heard her reply from her room across the dorm. I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
