Azura’s POV)

“It worked!” I exclaimed as Polar walked past where the rest of us were hidden.

We had found a large enough hole in the stone wall for all of us to squeeze through, one at a time.

I looked around and noticed that this ‘hole’ didn’t look like a hole at all; it looked like a secret hideout! “Guys!” I exclaimed and caught their attention.

We all looked around the ‘hole’ we were hiding in and saw birch tables, chairs, couches, and cabinets. There were also torches on the walls around the ‘hole’ that dimly lit up the room. I walked around and looked in the cabinets to see if there would be anything of use in them.

I found a few potions and spell books, but ignored them, and continued looking around. “Guys, I found something!” Blizzy exclaimed and we all looked at her.

Blizzy was standing by a rusted metal elevator. “THAT would’ve been useful!” Crystal exclaimed from where she was sitting on a birch couch.

“We didn’t even go that far up.” Violet pointed out. “Let’s go in the elevator!” Dabi said, pulling us into it with her as she bounced around excitedly.

“You're gonna make it fall!” Zoro shrieked as the elevator shook.

Dabi immediately stopped bouncing and pressed a random button on the elevator.

The elevator made a sound like a shaky sigh as it started up and down we went, to whatever floor Dabi chose.

“Who are you,” A voice demanded as we got off the elevator, “Why are you here?”

“Sorry for the intrusion, we were just hiding from someone and--” I started but the voice cut me off, “You need to leave. NOW!” The voice yelled and the others cowered behind me, but I stood my ground.

“No,” I said, “We're not leaving.”

“You need to go now, please!” The voice said, but it sounded quieter, calmer, and more like a small child.

“Who are you?” Violet asked. “My name… is Midnight… I’ve been down here for a while now. I was kidnapped by an evil person named Ein Evile. He trapped me down here for my power.” The voice said.

“Where are you?” I asked, looking around. “I’m in a cell in the darkest corner of the room. The cell key is on the metal table under a stack of letters.” The voice said and I spotted it immediately.

I grabbed the key and peered into the shadows of each corner of the room until I saw the keyhole of a metal box with a small window at the very top.

I unlocked the cell and backed up cautiously, because, you never know what might come out of there.

A little girl, probably ten years old, walked out and I saw how thin and frail she was.

Her eyes widened as she saw how many people were here.

“Who are they?” She squeaked, “What do they want? Are they here for my power?” She asked, shaking from head to toe.

“We're not gonna hurt you; we're here to help.” Crystal said and we all nodded.

Slowly, Midnight walked over to the rest of them and turned, suddenly, looking straight into Violet’s eyes.

“Her power is to become invisible for a short period of time. She uses her power to get out of situations.” Midnight said then turned to Crystal, “Her ability is to run and jump faster and higher than any other hybrid or human. Unfortunately, her power drains her energy and makes her unable to function as well as everyone else. She can also hear things coming from half a mile away- which isn’t all that much- but is still helpful in some ways.” She said.

Midnight then turned to Zoro.”Her ability is to see other people’s auras and personalities. She can also become invisible like, that violet eyed girl, but only to one person at a time.” Midnight said with an air of all-knowing.

She turned to Blizzy next. “A neko girl with the ability to communicate with animals. If she concentrates enough she can become an animal.” Midnight said with a smile, then turned to Dabi. “A fox girl that can smell out danger, much like a dog, and can hunt better than actual foxes. Impressive.”

Everyone’s jaws dropped to the floor in amazement. “Woah! You can tell what our abilities are just by looking at us?!” Blizzy, Dabi, Zoro, Violet, and Crystal asked in shock.

Midnight nodded and smiled. “What about her?” Blizzy asked and pointed at me. “She is a cat hybrid, obviously, and has cat ears and retractable claws. She is quick to judge people but tries to know more about them before judging them too harshly. She is a skilled hacker and can easily sneak around in the shadows without getting caught. She will most likely be a secret agent as an adult or a government hacker.” Midnight said and everyone looked down at her in awe.

“What are your abilities?” Crystal asked.

“I’m glad you asked. As you know, I can tell what people’s abilities are just by looking at them. I can also read people’s minds if I wish, though I usually feel light headed afterwards, and I can shape-shift, create objects and things out of thin air. Ein kidnapped me when I accidentally read his mind while trying to read someone else’s mind- don’t ask- and accidentally saw that he was planning something sinister and evil. He was planning to eliminate ALL hybrids, that or use forever potions and make them under his command as mindless slaves forever.” She said.

All of a sudden Midnight ran towards the wall and went through it. “Get in here! Ein’s coming and he’s really mad!” Midnight whispered through the wall.

I cautiously walked up to the wall and reached my hand out to touch it but my hand went right through the wall instead.

I walked through the wall and into another room with a large painting covering most of one wall. Everyone else followed me in and went straight to the painting, inspecting the detail in it.

It was a meadow painting, with thousands upon thousands of flowers going all the way to the edge of a lake.

The sky was blue and dusted with clouds, the water rippled softly in the breeze, the grass swayed slowly.

It was an overall beautiful painting.

Midnight went to the painting and placed her hand on it.

That's when it started to move.

“Step in.” She said and walked into the painting.

She appeared in the painting and started walking through the grass as it flowed steadily around her.

“What are we waiting for?” Violet asked, “Let’s jump in!”

Violet grabbed Crystal’s arm and dragged her through.

Reluctantly, I closed my eyes and stepped through. When I opened my eyes I was surprised by the cool air drifting across my skin and the breeze gently blowing through my hair.

“Where are we?” I asked myself aloud.

“This is a secret place I found out about the last time I was captured. It is a gateway to go anywhere in the world.” Midnight explained.

“Woah, seriously?!” Violet asked. Midnight nodded and pointed at the mirrors and paintings floating around us.

“Let’s go through this one.” A voice said and Cameron was behind us, his eyes glowing red.

“What’s wrong with your eyes?!” Crystal asked.

“He’s under the control of Ein. That’s the only reasonable answer as to why his eyes are this colour.” Midnight whispered.

All of a sudden he pulled out a large black and red sword and ran at Midnight, who shrieked and ran as fast as she could.

“Cameron Mocaby, a dark Hybrid. A shadow; killer. He has the ability to take from of every dark creature there is. He has black and red wings with rigid and torn edges, a black wolf tail with a blood red tip, sharp teeth like a vampire, and long, sharp claws like a cat. He is the most monstrous of all demon Hybrids. His father is the leader of the shadow Hybrids. He eliminates everything he thinks is a threat and steals their power once their lives have drained completely.” Midnight muttered as she ran.

Cameron let out a blood curdling scream as he emitted a black aura and went towards Midnight faster than before.

This is it, I thought, He’s gonna kill Midnight and then the rest of us.

“What’d I miss?” a voice asked and I gasped when I saw Sigherra standing on a rock heroically, a smile on her face.
