{Midnight's Point Of View}

After many curses and frantic movement; we managed to carry Kat back to Selina's house. It didn't really bother me until I noticed the frozen expression stuck on her face. Her eyes were shut tight and her mouth was slightly curved downward into a thin frown. Frozen tear streaks stained her cheeks. She looked just about ready to die.

Alvie, who has since been thawed out, flew to his master's side and let out a heart-wrenching cry. It's obvious the two had been close.

It's been a couple hours now since we've found Kat and we were all piled up in Selina's 'living room'. Cloud was frantically pacing back-and-forth; anxious to be off on our next mission. As kind as Selina was, we couldn't just stay here for as long as we wanted. Humans were not to be trusted.

"Is there anything you need?" Selina gave us a wary smile. Was she scared of us now because she knows our secret? Or is she truly concerned for us? I'm picking the first one; though I wished in my heart it was the latter.

"We need to get out of here as soon as possible," Cloud spoke bluntly as she continued to pace. "No offense Selina, we don't exactly have good history with humans."

Selina's mouth formed an 'o' shape and her dark eyes glittered with hurt. Did she really think we trusted her?

"It's not that we think you're a bad person!" Skittlez quickly interjected. "When we trust others it tends to put us in... bad situations." We all nodded our heads in agreement with her latest statement.

The room became death-silent and you could practically feel the tension building up.

"Mom, Leon won't let me in his room!" a girl screeched from somewhere upstairs; resulting in us to jump up and form a battle stance.

Cloud looked over at Selina and gave her a seething glare. "There are other humans in here?!" she hissed, sliding out her claws; tail lashing.

Selina's eyes grew wide at the aggressive notion and she gulped. Turning to the stairs, she yelled, "It's alright Abby, give your brother some alone time."

She turned her wary gaze back to us. Cloud still held her aggressive demeanor while Skittlez and I gave her a weak glare and crossed our arms. If she was betraying us; we weren't going down without a fight.

Midnight, tuck in your ears and tail now! a voice yelled.

I gasped from the sudden outburst and wildly looked around, but I couldn't locate the source of the voice.

Something in my gut told me to listen to the mysterious person and I complied; tucking my bushy tail back into my pants and pulling my hoodie back over my head to cover my twitchy ears. Cloud and Skittlez only stared, confusion lit their gazes.

Footsteps. The pounding noise of someone's feet racing down the stairs. I heard it loud and clear; and judging by the horrified looks on Cloud and Skittlez's faces, they heard it too.

In a flash, Cloud had thrown on her hoodie and quickly tucked her fluffy tail back into her pants. Skittlez, on the other hand, just couldn't quite tuck in her tail.

Skittlez, hurry! Cloud and I screamed through unspoken words.

Thunk thunk thunk! With each passing second, the footsteps became louder. Any second now and they'll be upon us.

Thunk thunk thunk! They were almost in the room!

Skittlez continued to fight against her tail, who stubbornly refused to go back into hiding.

Oh, for goodness sake! Cloud's icy glare seemed to speak for her as she sauntered over to the pink-haired mutant and promptly stuck Skittlez's tail into her own pants. Skittlez opened her mouth to protest but uttered no words. Her face flushed beet-red and she squeezed her eyes in discomfort. Cloud only shrugged, fully focusing her attention on the doorway where the footsteps were quickly approaching. (Skittlez X Cloud, someone write a FanFiction now! XD)

"Mom, I need some peace and quiet if I'm going to-" A voice was cut off as a male figure stepped into the doorway, noticing the three strangers in his house. The male before us had light brown hair and striking dark-brown eyes accompanied by a pair of glasses. He couldn't have been much older than us, fifteen by the looks of it. To say he was cute was an understatement, I think as I felt my tail begin to rise.

Well, I wouldn't blame him for being surprised, really. Imagine walking down the stairs and finding your mother conversing with three strange girls; two with abnormal hair and one fidgeting around uncomfortably, I'm guessing you know who.

Selina cleared her throat, drawing all four confused teens to her attention. "Leon, I'd like you to meet-"

"Hey there Leon, name's Midnight, you're hot." I chirped, freely placing my arm around his shoulder, startling him.

Oh for the love of the hunt, he smells like red berries!

I continued to keep my arm on his shoulder while an awkward silence filled the room.

About a minute later, I felt two pairs of hands prying me away from my prize.

"Sorry about her," I heard Cloud laugh awkwardly as her grip around me tightened. "She's kind of excitable. By the way, I'm Cloud."

"I'm Skittlez," my pink-haired friend softly introduced herself.

Leon only nodded, his eyes still wide with surprise. I felt guilt overtake me when I realized I only made the situation even more awkward.

"Okay... Well, nice to meet you all I guess. I'm... going to get a snack," he scratched the back of his head as he headed off towards the kitchen.

That's when it suddenly clicked; Kat was still thawing out in there! Selina seemed to realize this as well as she ran to catch up to her son and stopped him.

"Leon, don't be rude. Let's converse with our visitors," she told him gently as she led him back into the living room. Cloud, Skittlez, and I letting out sighs of relief.

"Why are they visiting anyway?" he huffed as he eyed down Skittlez and Cloud, avoiding my gaze.

Selina's eyes flashed a panicked look before she recollected herself and spoke, "Our neighbor's children. They'll be staying with us a few days while they're out of town."

Leon looked skeptical, but eventually believed the lie and relaxed. Skittlez and I sighed, relaxing as well. Cloud, on the other hand, was outraged.

"We're not staying here!" she snapped, startling us all. Her teeth bared and her icy eyes narrowed.
