chapter six
Walking home, Bridgett was deep in thought. There was so much that she had learned, so much to take in. And so much to concern her mind. Brandon for example. He was really cute, but this was a job, not a flirt fest. He was also so talented. She'd watched him make a few drinks and it was so cool. He moved so fast and smoothly across the floor, making up to three drinks at a time. And the drinks he made were just gorgeous. They had so many colors and the different parts of the drinks seemed to flow together so perfectly. Just beautiful.
When Bridgett walked in the door of her house, there was some unexpected news waiting for her. "Hey Bridgett," her mother said with a smile. "Guess what?"
"What?" Bridgett asked. She was secretly hoping that it had something to do with Brandon. Even though that was basically impossible.
"I just got a call from one of the fellow girls on your new cheerleading team to let me know that you made the summer team! There's like a meet and greet party for all the new members and they wanted to know if you would be attending. I told them that of course you would be! And you'd scared me so much saying that you hadn't even tried. Look at you, my precious girl! I'm so proud of you!"
Ok ok I know what you guys are thinking right now. Hey Bridgett, is this the part of the story where the mother decides to live through her child and make choices for her without having a care for what her child thinks? Yes. Yes it is. And you may not like it but how do you think I feel? I'm the one who had to live through this ya know... now back to the story!
"Mom are you serious right now?" Bridgett shouted. "Who is this girl you talked to? You do know that I literally walked out of the room in the middle of tryouts right?" Bridgett's mom just stared at her, mouth agape and awestruck. "Mom. Who called you to tell you."
"I don't know honey, I didn't ask. I just assumed..."
"How could you just assume mom? That's completely ridiculous. I mean... we don't even know if this is a real person and you just listen to them!? God... are you like a ninety year old woman?"
"Ninety year old woman are perfectly capable," Bridgett's mom contradicted.
"Yeah sure but, they'll also believe anything anyone says to them over the phone. It's super dangerous. It could be literally anyone. What if they're a kidnapper trying to steal me away from you. Huh? How would you feel then mom, knowing you handed me right into the hands of a kidnapper?"
"Do you honestly think I would knowingly—"
"That's the whole POINT mom! You wouldn't know."
"I'm sorry Bridgett. I was just so excited for you." Bridgett and her mom stared at each other for a long while. Finally, her mother broke the silence. "Well, are you going to go...?"
"Just give me the fucking address."
