[I MISS YOU, I'M SORRY]

1.03 || outstanding lack of patience

.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.

"I am not crazy!" Aurelia argues incredulously as she pours a cup of coffee.

"Oh, I don't know. You are a little crazy." Sebastian says as he walks in the room and she narrows her eyes at him briefly. "Why? What have you done now?" He asks.

"Nothing! Because I'm not crazy!" Aurelia says.

"You go every day to water some plants! Just bring them here!" Derek says.

"I can't." Aurelia says.

"I have no idea what you're talking about. But we can't have houseplants. She's actually right about that and it isn't crazy. Her dog might be, but in relation to the no houseplants rule, she isn't." Sebastian says.

"I have no idea if you're on my side or not." Aurelia says.

"Neither do I." Sebastian responds and she shakes her head incredulously with an impatient sigh.

"Why do you have a specific rule of no houseplants?" Derek asks.

"Because Arlo has issues." Sebastian says.

"You leave my familiar alone." Aurelia says, pointing at her brother.

"With houseplants. Was what I was saying." Sebastian says and she hums with a frown before turning around to feed Arlo and Sebastian shakes his head at Derek.

"I know what you've just done." Aurelia says.

"God, that's not fair." Sebastian says and she shrugs. "But Arlo tends to eat any houseplants he comes into contact with. And if he doesn't eat them, he pisses on them." Sebastian says.

"So, put them on a shelf." Derek says.

"Some of them have to be on window sills. And Arlo can reach all our window sills." Aurelia says.

"Why do they have to be in window sills?" Derek asks.

"Because some of them are magical houseplants and they have very specific requirements." Aurelia says.

"What are we talking about?" Sebastian asks.

"I go to Peter's apartment every day to water his plants." Aurelia says.

"You do? Oh, that is crazy. She still can't bring them here. But that is crazy." Sebastian says and Aurelia throws her hands up in frustration. "Anyway, I'm borrowing your car." Sebastian says, grabbing her keys off the counter and walking out of the room.

"No, I need my-" She trails off slightly as he walks away. "I need my car." She says before sighing and shaking her head when the front door opens and closes.

"You want a ride to work?" Derek asks.

"Yes, please." Aurelia responds with a sigh and he nods as he gets up. "Hey, so I need you to help out Scott." She says and Derek looks over before shaking his head and handing her the keys to the Camaro.

"Nope." He says before walking out the room.

"Oh, come on, Derek!" Aurelia calls after him.

"No!"

.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.

Aurelia looks up when someone skids slightly to a stop in front of her as she walks before raising a brow at Stiles impatiently. "What the hell is wrong with you?" She asks.

"You hear about the dead guy this morning or I guess, nearly dead guy? Mauled guy?" Stiles asks and she shrugs.

"No, I've been grading papers all morning. Yours wasn't even close to the correct topic, by the way." Aurelia responds and he shrugs.

"My Econ papers never are. What'd I get?" He asks.

"B." Aurelia responds and he scoffs incredulously before following her when she starts walking.

"No way! That was definitely an A!" Stiles argues.

"If we ignore the fact that it was supposed to be an Econ paper and you're lucky to get a grade full stop, you didn't finish." Aurelia says and he pauses with a frown.

"No, I didn't. I had Algebra homework that I got distracted by and I forgot to go back and finish it." He says after a moment and she hums. "Kay, B seems fair then." Stiles says and she nods a little.

"What was this about a dead guy?" She asks.

"Right, bus driver. It's why the police were here this morning." Stiles says.

"Oh, I did wonder what all that was about to be fair but I didn't care enough to question it either." Aurelia says with a shrug.

"Yeah, well, I found out who it is. Some guy called Garrison Myers." Stiles says and Aurelia pauses briefly with a slight frown. "What? You know him? Because I mean, Scott recognised his name but he apparently used to catch his bus when he'd go visit Captain Douchebag." Stiles says.

"Thought we agreed we weren't gonna call Scott's dad Captain Douchebag anymore after he overheard you that one time and ignored you for four hours." Aurelia says.

"I thought that rule just applied to when Scott was around." Stiles says and she rolls her eyes. "Anyway, do you recognise the name?" He asks.

"I don't know. I mean, I might just recognise it because I'd heard it this morning even if I wasn't paying attention." Aurelia says with a shrug.

That wasn't it. That wasn't anywhere close to the truth. She actually knew for a fact that Garrison Myers had been the insurance investigator who declared the Hale Fire an accident. And she knew that because she'd turned up at his office and tore him a new one over it. She now wasn't allowed back in the building. They had her name and picture at the front desk. Which she found out when she tried to go back three days later when he still officially declared it an accident only to be promptly escorted out.

"You sure that's it? Because that's not what it seems like." Stiles says and Aurelia shrugs a little.

"What else is going on? You're being weird." Aurelia says.

"Oh, I'm the one being weird? Says Miss 'Maybe I heard the name of the guy I didn't even know had been attacked'." Stiles retorts and she rolls her eyes. "Scott agreed to go on a double date."

"Don't understand, a, how that affects you or b, why that's a bad thing. Double dates aren't intrinsically bad." Aurelia says and Stiles looks at her with a frown.

"Did you just casually use intrinsically in a sentence?" He asks and she shrugs. "Anyway, the double date is bad because he's going with Allison, Lydia and Jackson." Stiles says.

"Oh, right. That is bad. Half of that group don't really like Scott all that much or at all." Aurelia says and Stiles nods. "Doesn't answer my first question. Why do you care?" Aurelia asks.

"Well, initially because they tried to also rope me and Delaney into going." Stiles says.

"At that point, it's not really a date scenario anymore, it's just a group of teenagers hanging out. Half of whom don't get along." Aurelia says and he shrugs. "Are you going?"

"No. It's bowling. I'd like to continue enjoying it rather than having my enjoyment be tainted by the presence of Jackson Whittemore." Stiles says and Aurelia nods.

"Wait, it's bowling?" She asks and Stiles nods. "Scott can't bowl. He's awful." Aurelia says.

"You are correct. He cannot. And worse, he said, and this is verbatim, 'I'm a great bowler'." Stiles says and Aurelia winces.

"Oh, poor Scott. He's gonna take a battering. Both at bowling and emotionally." Aurelia says and Stiles nods. "I still don't understand why the bowling affects you." Aurelia says.

"Because I'm not going bowling but I somehow might have a date with Delaney." Stiles says.

"Okay?" Aurelia says with a frown and Stiles just stares at her. "You like her. Why is this bad?"

"It's not! Except, I've never been on a date and she said we'd just stay in at mine, order a pizza and watch some movies." Stiles says.

"Okay?" Aurelia says, tilting her head a little.

"I don't know what I'm doing." He says.

"You've just told me what you're doing." Aurelia responds.

"No but like, staying home, watching a movie and ordering a pizza with Delaney is not gonna be the same as when we do that." Stiles says.

"Well, no, because I assume your dad won't be there because that'd be weird." Aurelia says.

"Lia!" He says and she rolls her eyes briefly with a slight smile.

"Just exercise a little common sense and self-restraint for once. But other than that, she's met you and had conversations with you. Just don't be any weirder than normal." Aurelia says with a shrug.

"You know, you're supposed to like help me in these scenarios. Use your worldly experiences to help me out." Stiles says.

"Yeah, but my first date wasn't pizza and movies on the sofa, my first date was a party where I got drunk and the guy stuck his hand down my pants." Aurelia says with a shrug.

"I hate you." Stiles says and she shrugs. "But like, you've had normal dates. You've dated." Stiles says and she frowns.

"I haven't been on a date since like first year of college. And my last date before that was when I was seventeen. So, I'm not really the best person to ask. Because the date in college was just me and my friend's date's brother getting dragged along for a double date against our will. Then Sonya started making out with her date, his brother and I looked at each other, got up, left, said good night in the parking lot and I never saw him again. Nice guy, I guess. We had like a single forty-five second conversation about the movie." Aurelia says with another shrug.

"Well, that's not very helpful." Stiles complains and she shrugs.

"Sorry. I didn't really date much. Especially when I was nineteen onwards." Aurelia says.

"Why not?" Stiles asks and she shrugs gently.

"I was kind of seeing someone, maybe, not officially but kinda." Aurelia says.

"Were you or weren't you?" He asks.

"Not sure. Both?" Aurelia responds.

"Oh, my God. You're useless." Stiles says.

"Tried to warn you." Aurelia says lightly before frowning and glancing around the hall and then at her watch. "Shouldn't you be in class?" She asks.

"Oh, yeah. I needed to pee and then I saw you and I couldn't find you at lunch, so I figured now was as good a time as any." Stiles says and she looks at him incredulously. "You disagree?"

"Go back to class, you maniac." Aurelia says and he shrugs.

"Bye, Lia. See you later." He says before heading back the way they'd come from as she shakes her head incredulously.

"Swear to God." Aurelia mutters under her breath.

.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.

Aurelia climbs out of her car to see Scott and Stiles standing by the Jeep and she glances at the school briefly. "Why are we here at night? I don't want to be here in the day." Aurelia says.

"Scott thinks he might have attacked that guy, so Derek told him to go to the bus and find out." Stiles explains.

"Sure, okay." Aurelia says with a slight frown.

"You disagree?" Scott asks and she shakes her head.

"No, no disagreements here." Aurelia responds but she definitely thought this would be way easier if they could just get Peter to do the claw thing. But that was kind of a non-option. And she didn't understand it enough to teach Derek safely. Considering Peter had just used her as a test subject. But she'd used him as a test subject for spells, so it was a pretty even trade off. So, this would do.

"Okay." Scott says before heading towards the fence with Stiles close behind as Aurelia leans against the Jeep. "Hey, no. Just me. Someone needs to keep watch." Scott says and Stiles gestures at Aurelia.

"I'm not keeping watch. Forget it. I don't even know why I'm here." Aurelia retorts.

"How come I'm always the guy keeping watch?" Stiles asks before starting to climb the fence and Aurelia rolls her eyes with a slightly amused smile as Scott pulls him back down by his shoulder.

"Because Lia refuses to get involved which means there's only two of us!" Scott says.

"Okay, why's it starting to feel like you're Batman and I'm Robin?" Stiles asks and Scott looks at him slightly exasperatedly which just makes Stiles scoff. "I don't want to be Robin all the time!" Stiles exclaims.

"Nobody's Batman and Robin any of the time!" Scott argues and Aurelia shakes her head a little.

"Not even some of the time?" Stiles asks.

"Just stay here." Scott says.

"Oh, my God! Fine!" Stiles groans before heading back over to where Aurelia was still standing by the Jeep as Scott climbs up and over the fence.

"So, why am I here?" Aurelia asks.

"For a second opinion on Derek's advice." Stiles says and she frowns.

"Why not just call me?" Aurelia asks and he looks over at her before shrugging. "So, you just like making my life unnecessarily difficult?" She asks.

"Sometimes, kinda." Stiles responds and she hums.

"I thought the whole dates thing was tonight." Aurelia says.

"It is. Delaney's supposed to be at mine in about half an hour but she also knows we're here now." Stiles says and Aurelia nods.

"Yeah, so, when you have more time to spare, we're having a longer talk about that decision." Aurelia says and he glances at her with a confused frown. "The whole you telling an Argent about Scott and telling her all the werewolf things you guys do."

"Okay, I guess." Stiles says and she nods.

"But if that was literally the only thing I'm here for, then I'm gonna go home. I have better and more interesting things to do." Aurelia says, patting his shoulder before walking over to her car.

"You're just leaving us here? Alone and defenceless when there's an evil werewolf trying to kill us?" Stiles calls after her.

"Yes. You'll be fine." Aurelia responds as she opens her car door.

"You're not exactly filling me with confidence!" Stiles says.

"You'll live. Hopefully." Aurelia says and he scoffs incredulously as she climbs into the car, shutting the door behind her.

.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.

Aurelia slips the bag she was holding onto her wrist as she walks out of the store and back towards her car so that she could pull her phone out when it beeps. She frowns a little as she tilts her head when she sees a message from an unknown number before pausing a little when she realises it was one of the phones she'd hidden in Derek's car. Yes, there were several in the Camaro alone. Plus several more hidden within his belongings and his room at the house. She opens the passenger side door of her car to put the bag inside as she reads the message, tilting her head slightly. They were going to have a talk about emergency texts because 'A, gas station' followed by the name of the gas station was not sufficient. She was pretty sure she knew what he meant but she'd rather be definite.

She walks around the car as she puts the phone away before tossing her bag at the floor of the passenger side as she slides into the driver's seat. She goes to start the engine before pausing as she looks at the dashboard, tilting her head in confusion as she grabs the book sitting there, flipping it open to the saved page. Okay, now she knew she'd left this on the coffee table in Peter's apartment because it was bookmarked exactly where she'd left it with her bookmark. But aside from her, Derek was the only other person with access to the apartment and he both wouldn't have and couldn't have left this here while she'd been in the store. Plus randomly leaving books in different locations than her was a very weird method of threatening or confusing her. Whichever was currently happening. She shakes her head a little before tossing the book in the driver's seat and starting the engine.

She stops the car opposite Derek's, grabbing her keys as she climbs out of the car before walking over to Derek. "You okay?" She asks and Derek nods a little.

"Just having a friendly conversation." Aurelia turns around at that with a hum.

"Oh, yeah, what about?" Aurelia asks, tilting her head a little with a slight shrug before raising a brow when she doesn't get an answer. "What? I turn up and suddenly friendly conversation stops? What are you talking about?" She asks.

"He was just talking about how he gets his protective streak from his family." Derek supplies when Aurelia glances at him and she hums with an amused smile.

"Yeah, I bet he does." She says. "I get an outstanding lack of patience from mine. You've been in town five minutes and I'm already getting annoyed. You better hope I don't get any more fed up with you." Aurelia says and Chris hesitates slightly. "What's wrong? Did you not come here anticipating any resistance? What? You thought you'd outnumber him with three hunters, likely as equally shitty as each other and intimidate him. And what? Nothing else would happen? It's a little sad really. I mean, you needed three of you. What are the other guys doing? Huh? Because they've not said a word. I really feel like this is a task you could have undertaken yourself. Don't think you need three people to fail at intimidating one person. I think you could have failed just as spectacularly on your own. So, why didn't you?" Aurelia asks.

"I think we're done here." Chris says.

"Oh, I think we are way past that." Aurelia responds with a nod and he hums before turning to walk over to his car. "Oh, and by the way," She says, stepping towards him and Derek looks at her incredulously as Chris turns back around. "I find it fascinating that you seemed to know exactly who I was when I turned up."

"Why's that?" Chris asks.

"Because we haven't met. Not officially. And I don't count you nearly shooting me in the woods last full moon meeting and I doubt you knew that was me until right now." Aurelia says and Chris pauses as he looks at her. "Yeah, right. So, you know who I am. You know I'm friends with Derek. You don't seem to know much else about me. You don't know why I'm friends with a werewolf. Which narrows down the list of people you could have gotten the information from pretty significantly. And I'd be confident guessing who. But I'm going to be relatively considerate just this once. I'm going to let you go and tell whoever told you about me not to do it again, rather than having that conversation myself. Because I'm not just going to let someone go around sharing private information about me without my knowledge or consent. And both of you should know that not only will I know if they tell you anything again, I will follow up on it and you won't like it. And I am deadly serious. Are we clear?" Aurelia asks, raising a brow.

"Yeah, I think we're clear." Chris responds after a moment and she nods.

"Good. Have a good night." Aurelia says and he stares at her for a moment before continuing to his car.

Once both the cars have pulled away, Derek turns to look at Aurelia with a frown. "What was that about?" Derek asks.

"The only person that could have told him about me and us being friends is his daughter. Because she knows about Scott being a werewolf and Stiles and Scott keep looping her in on their stupid plans. Even after I told Stiles not to. I think it'd be in his best interest to ensure his daughter doesn't continue pissing me off." Aurelia says with a shrug.

"You threatened his daughter to his face with two other armed hunters behind us?" Derek asks incredulously.

"The fact that you think they would have had any success shooting us from any angle offends me. I am genuinely hurt." Aurelia says and he rolls his eyes.

"You're insane. You must be because no sane person walks up to an armed hunter with two behind her and then mocks them, taunts them and threatens their kid." Derek says.

"Derek, I'm an obstinate little shit who would spend all of her free time with Peter, a certified asshole who also happened to be the Left Hand of the Hale Pack. I'm not crazy, I'm just an obstinate asshole with more training to be a Left Hand than the Emissary I was supposed to be by accident." Aurelia says and Derek inclines his head briefly.

"Yeah, I guess that's fair." He says and she nods. "Thanks, by the way."

"Yeah, of course. You get rid of the phone yet?" She asks.

"I'm gonna keep that one in the glovebox. At least just while there's Argents in town." He says.

"Thank God. I don't have time to go out and buy another one to hide." She says and he rolls his eyes briefly. "I'm going home. You coming?" She asks and he nods. "Cool, Freya texted while I was at the store picking a few things up for her, she's making stir fry for dinner." Aurelia says.

"I've just gotta make one stop. I'll meet you there." Derek says.

"I can come with you?" Aurelia offers and he shakes his head.

"No, it's okay. I promise not to get harassed by any more hunters between now and then. It'll be a ten minute detour." Derek says and she nods a little.

"Okay. Be careful." She says lightly, brushing her hand over his arm and he nods, gently squeezing her shoulder and trailing his hand down her arm. "See you at home."
