[I MISS YOU, I'M SORRY]

Aurelia pauses on her way to the lacrosse field and tilts her head a little when she sees Derek standing in the treeline. She glances back towards where Coach was waiting by the field before sighing and walking over to Derek. "Why are you creeping in the woods by the high school? You're as bad as Peter. What is it? Huh? A werewolf thing? What you reach your twenties as a werewolf and suddenly you have to start creeping around the high school?" Aurelia asks and Derek rolls his eyes at her.
"No, Aurelia, it's not a werewolf thing and you know that. I'm keeping an eye on Scott. You know, the new werewolf with no control." Derek responds and she sighs impatiently.
"I can keep an eye on Scott. I can handle out of control teenage werewolves. Or are you forgetting how many times I had to prevent you from tearing out my throat when you lost control and you thought a tiny disk from some factory in China would magically fix the problem because Peter, of all people, said so." Aurelia says
"You finished?" He asks and she shrugs.
"Eh, for now." She responds.
"I'm just keeping an eye. And I'd like to counter with, every time you stopped me, you used magic. I don't know about you, but if he starts shifting in the middle of the field, I don't think magic is going to be the way to go." Derek says.
"Well, that's when you'd do it subtle and without it being visible. Which I can do." Aurelia counters.
"Since when?" Derek asks.
"Four months ago when I figured it out." She responds with a shrug.
"Look at you. Actually succeeding at being a witch." Derek says and she narrows her eyes at him.
"Says the born wolf who couldn't control himself on a full moon until he was seventeen." Aurelia retorts and he hums.
"Yeah, okay, you win." Derek says and she smiles briefly as she pats his arm before letting her hand slide down his arm briefly.
"I always do. You'd think you'd have learned by now." Aurelia says and he nods.
"You'd think." He responds before glancing at her hand briefly. "You know, if I can't scent you, you can't scent me." He says.
"I never said you couldn't scent me. I told you to stop being your version of a clingy bastard." Aurelia counters and he hums. "I've gotta go. Try to be less obvious while you stare at teenagers, would you? Don't wanna have to talk to Noah because you went and got yourself arrested like a dumbass." Aurelia says and Derek nods. "Don't mentally roll your eyes at me, asshole. I'll put you on your ass." Aurelia threatens, whacking his arm briefly before heading back over to the field.
"Where are you coming from?" Stiles asks as she reaches the bench.
"What took you two so long? Go, he's starting." Aurelia says, lightly pushing Stiles towards the field.
"Yeah, avoid the question. Mature." Stiles retorts.
"Go, you little shit." She says, lightly clipping him up the back of the head.
"Ow!"
"Oh, don't be such a baby." She says and he huffs as he follows Scott.
Aurelia stuffs her hands in the pockets of her coat as she stands at the side of the field as Coach blows his whistle. "That's how you do it, Jackson! That's how you do it!" He calls and Aurelia tilts her head a little when Jackson rams the end of his stick into another player's back. Definitely harder than he needed to considering it was practice. "Greenberg, take a lap!" Coach calls before getting the rest of the players to line up in the middle of the field as the boy starts running. "Let's go! Faster, Greenberg! Let's go." Coach calls and Aurelia frowns a little as she watches Scott at the front of the line. "McCall, what are you waiting for? Let's go!"
Aurelia glances at Jackson briefly when Coach gestures at him before looking back at Scott when he starts running. Only to be tackled and thrown flat on his back by Jackson and Aurelia winces slightly. "Hey, McCall!" Aurelia's gaze shifts to Coach when he starts moving towards Scott before looking back at the teen. "Hey, McCall!" Jackson steps over to Scott and she knows he says something because she feels Scott's frustration rise a little as he walks away. "My-my grandmother can move faster than that. And she's dead! You think you can move faster than the lifeless corpse of my dead grandmother?" Coach taunts and Aurelia sighs.
"Shit." Aurelia mutters under her breath when Scott's anger rises suddenly to match his frustration as he answers Coach.
"I can't hear you!" Coach taunts and Aurelia shakes her head as she glances down.
"Yes, Coach." Scott says, his voice adopting an irritated edge.
"Then do it again!" Coach demands as Scott runs back to the beginning of the line. "McCall's gonna do it again! McCall's gonna do it again!"
"Christ, he's gonna kill him." Aurelia mutters under her breath.
"Let's go!" Coach shouts after blowing his whistle and Aurelia winces in anticipation when Scott runs at Jackson again before he slams into the other boy with his shoulder, knocking him flat on his back, gripping his shoulder in pain.
Yes, she thought he needed knocking down a few pegs. But not by an angry werewolf.
Everyone but Stiles rushes over to Jackson and Aurelia heads over to where Scott was crouching with the boy. "Scott? Scott, you okay?" Stiles asks.
"Get him out of here before he turns." Aurelia whispers and Stiles glances at her. "Now. I'll meet you inside." Aurelia says.
"I can't control it! It's happening!" Scott says.
"Shit, right, okay, yep." Stiles says rapidly and Aurelia helps him pull Scott up to his feet so Stiles could drag him away from the field before anyone noticed.
Aurelia watches the two of them walk away before glancing past the bleachers to where Derek was still standing near the treeline. Derek looks away from the two boys at her before shrugging a little as if to say 'I told you so' and she narrows her eyes at him in response.
"You know, he should probably go to the nurse. Lying in a field probably isn't helping." Aurelia says to Coach and he nods.
"Go find McCall." He says.
"Okay." Aurelia says before heading back over to where she'd been standing to grab her bag before heading up to the school.
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
She pauses slightly, tilting her head a little when she walks through the door to see Stiles leaning against the wall, hugging a fire extinguisher to his chest. "What you doing, Stiles?" She asks and he yelps slightly as he looks over at her, making her raise a brow in response before glancing at the fire extinguisher pointedly.
"Used it on Scott." He responds and she nods, shrugging a little.
"Not a bad idea, actually. Why are you hugging it?" She asks.
"Not sure." Stiles responds and she hums softly.
"Okay, give it here." She says, reaching out to take it off him before putting it to the side. "You're okay? He didn't hurt you?" She asks and he shakes his head a little.
"Stiles?"
Both of them glance at the locker room doors at Scott's voice before Stiles moves towards them, slowly looking around the door frame. "What happened?" Aurelia moves into the doorway, leaning against it when Stiles steps further into the room, pulling off his gloves and tossing them to the floor.
"You tried to kill me." Stiles announces, moving over to him. "It's like I told you before. It's the anger, it's your pulse rising. It's a trigger." Stiles explains.
"But that's lacrosse. It's a pretty violent game, if you hadn't noticed." Scott says lightly and Aurelia sighs softly.
"Well, it's gonna be a lot more violent if you end up killing someone on the field." Stiles counters. "You can't play Saturday. You're gonna have to get out of the game." Stiles says.
"I'm first line-"
"Not anymore." Stiles cuts in.
"Wh- Lia?" Scott asks, looking over at her and she sighs.
"He's right. I know that Jackson and Coach riled you up today, okay? But there's no saying they wouldn't do that during the game on Saturday. Even if they don't, another player could. It's not safe. For you or for them. You could hurt someone. Or a hunter could see you and they'd hurt you." Aurelia says and he looks down. "It wouldn't have to be permanent. Just until you have enough control not to pull something like that. And you will get there, I promise." Aurelia says.
"When?"
"I don't know. In part, that's up to you. But you also need to be willing to learn." Aurelia responds.
"How?" Scott asks.
"I'll have a word with Derek." Aurelia says.
"Are you kidding me? You want that guy to teach him?" Stiles asks incredulously.
"Yes, Stiles. That guy. Unless you have another werewolf to teach Scott control that I'm not aware of. If you do, please, I am all ears." Aurelia says shortly and he rolls his eyes. "As much as I know about werewolves, as much as you think you've learned, he needs help from someone who's been through it. Whose dealt with controlling your anger when your anger is amplified. Derek has. I don't care if you don't like it. I trust him and that should, quite frankly, be enough for you to listen to me." Aurelia says.
"He dragged him out to the middle of the woods and got him attacked by hunters." Stiles argues.
"The alternative was letting him stay in his room or continue running around town with the risk that he kills you or Melissa or some random homeless guy in an alley." Aurelia says. "Now, I have to go. I'll have a word with Derek and I'll let you know, okay?" Aurelia says, looking at Scott and he nods a little. "Okay, be careful. Maybe stay away from Jackson and Coach for the rest of the day." Aurelia suggests before walking out of the room.
"Lia, hang on!" Stiles says before following her and she turns to look at him. "You've got that friend that works at the hospital, right?" He asks.
"Kat? Yeah, why?" Aurelia asks with a slight frown.
"You think she'd tell you what happened with Jackson?" He asks.
"Uh, yeah, I can probably get it out of her. I'll text you later." She says and he nods. "Look, I get you don't trust Derek. I'm not totally sure why, but I get it. But, you can trust me. And I trust him." Aurelia says.
"Okay." Stiles says and she nods a little before turning and walking down the hall.
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
She walks over to her car, rolling her eyes a little when she sees Derek standing next to it. "Seriously, creeping around the high school is not a good look." Aurelia says and he rolls his eyes at her.
"Can I get a ride?" He asks.
"Sure but I'm not going home yet. So, you'll have to come with me." Aurelia says and he nods as she unlocks the car before climbing into the passenger seat.
"Where are you going?" Derek asks as she climbs into the car and she glances over at him.
"Uh, the hospital to get information out of Kat and then I need to stop by Peter's apartment." Aurelia says.
"Okay." Derek says and she nods a little. "I thought you said you went to sit with him on Mondays?" He says after a moment.
"Yeah, I went this morning before work instead. Had this feeling it might be a good idea to be at practice." Aurelia says and Derek hums briefly. "What?" She asks slightly impatiently as she glances at him before looking back at the road.
"Didn't say anything." Derek responds.
"Derek."
"Just- It's been six years, Aura. Don't you think at some point this starts being a little unhealthy?" He asks and she drums her thumb against the steering wheel.
"I don't know how to do the alternative." She says after a moment. "I don't think I can."
"I get that. But I think maybe at some point you have to try. I mean, I know you were both always a little co-dependent,"
"We were not." Aurelia cuts in and Derek hums.
"But, you can't just spend the rest of your life visiting him three or four times a week and watering his plants." Derek says.
"Why not?" Aurelia asks.
"Because, frankly, it's a little insane." Derek says and she rolls her eyes. "And not to mention horrifically unhealthy. Which I'm sure any sane therapist would tell you. Which you should probably look into getting." Derek suggests.
"I'll go to therapy when you go to therapy." Aurelia says and he sighs.
"Aurelia, if it would get you to go and sort through some of this, I would." Derek says.
"I don't need therapy." Aurelia says.
"Yeah, you know you do. You just don't want to go." He retorts.
"Whatever. Besides, it'd need to be a supernatural therapist and the closest one is in Sacramento. She also costs a fucking fortune." Aurelia says.
"So, you've looked into it?" Derek asks.
"No. Freya did after my Mom died." Aurelia says.
"Right, so you're partially using ten-year-old information as your justification of your decision not to seek professional help?" Derek asks.
"Yes." Aurelia responds and he nods.
"Yeah, sounds about right." Derek mutters.
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
"Hey, Kat. Remember how you owe me one?" Aurelia asks as she walks up to the front desk.
"Oh, god." The redhead says and Aurelia rolls her eyes. "What do you want?"
"Just need to know what happened with Jackson Whittemore." Aurelia says.
"You're gonna get me fired." Katarina says.
"I won't tell if you don't." Aurelia responds, leaning forward slightly and she sighs, shaking her head a little.
"You ever heard of patient confidentiality?" She asks.
"Yes, I have. Could you just break it instead of explaining it to me?" Aurelia retorts and Katarina pinches the bridge of her nose.
"Which patient?" She asks.
"Whittemore. Jackson Whittemore." Aurelia says, leaning on the desk and the redhead sighs as she looks at her computer. "I love you. Have I told you that recently?" Aurelia asks.
"You've never told me that." She responds without looking up.
"Yeah, but I do." Aurelia says and Katarina hums.
"Just an fyi, I got a job back home and I'm moving there to help take care of my dad. So, you'll have to find someone else to bully for confidential patient data." Katarina says.
"You're so cruel to me, Kat." Aurelia responds and the other woman rolls her eyes.
"Whittemore. Came in after a sports injury at the school. Has a separated shoulder." She says, looking back up at Aurelia.
"Cool, thank you." Aurelia says, patting the desk. "Your dad okay?"
"Yeah, he's just got that knee surgery in a couple months and he's been begging me to move back home for a while now. Figured I'd just help save money on the nurse and do it myself." Katarina responds and Aurelia nods a little. "Thank you for asking."
"Yeah, well, I'm not entirely narcissistic. Just mostly." Aurelia responds and the redhead chuckles softly in amusement. "See you." She says.
"Yeah, see you." She responds before Aurelia heads back down the hall.
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
Aurelia types out a message to Stiles with one hand as she unlocks and pushes open the door of Peter's apartment, waiting for Derek to walk in after her before letting go of it, dropping her keys on the table next to her. "Gonna go look for a book in the study." Derek says.
"Yeah, okay." Aurelia responds, without looking at her phone. "Oh, uh, can't take it out of the apartment. That's the rule." Aurelia says.
"Yeah, Peter's in a coma. He's not exactly gonna know." Derek retorts and she pauses.
"Right, fair point." Aurelia says and he shakes his head a little as he continues down the hall.
She waters the few plants around the living room before sitting on the sofa to wait for Derek to find whatever book he'd needed. "Hey, Aura?" Derek calls.
"Yeah, what's up?" She responds, glancing over the back of the sofa.
"Where's the book on werewolf rituals?" He asks and she frowns a little.
"Uh, which one?" She asks, getting up from the sofa to walk down the hall.
"The one he gave me to read when I asked about them." Derek says.
"Oh, that one. That's at mine. That was from the library at the house, not his books. I was reading it when," She trails off a little and he nods.
"Right. Okay, well, that's what I needed. So, we can go." Derek says and she nods.
"Yeah, okay. Let's go then." She responds as Derek walks past her and she hesitates slightly with a frown as she looks at the book on the table next to her.
"What?" Derek asks and she glances at him.
"Nothing. I just haven't noticed this book sitting here before now." She says, tapping on it briefly.
"Well, you're not exactly the most observant person in the world. So, you probably just missed it." Derek says before continuing down the hall when she just rolls her eyes at him.
She stares at the book for a moment longer before picking it up and shoving it in her bag as she follows Derek, grabbing her keys from the table as he opens the door. "God, you're impatient." She remarks as she steps out of the apartment.
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
Aurelia parks her car outside the Sheriff's Station before shoving the door open, pushing it shut behind her with a little bit more force than was strictly necessary. But she was annoyed and a little angry that Stiles and Scott had gone out of their way to get Derek arrested and she didn't want to take it out on Noah. She glances up briefly as she closes her eyes, taking a deep breath in an attempt to calm herself down before walking up to the building. "Aurelia, hey." Tara says.
"Is Noah in his office?" She asks.
"Yeah, you should be good to go through." She responds and Aurelia nods.
"Thanks." She responds before walking past the desk and down the hall.
She stops outside the office before lightly tapping her knuckles against the open door and Noah looks up from his desk. "Hey, kid. What's up?" He asks and she steps into the room.
"You arrested Derek." She responds and he sighs.
"You heard about that." He says.
"I was his phone call." Aurelia responds.
"Right, he does know those are typically to a lawyer, right?" Noah asks as she nudges the door shut.
"His lawyer is currently in a coma, so I was the next best option." Aurelia explains.
"Right. Of course he is." Noah says and she nods. "Look, I know you guys are friends but he had half that girl's body buried outside the Hale House. You get how that looks." He says.
"The girl is Laura." Aurelia says and he frowns. "Laura Hale. His sister."
"Ah, shit." He says, rubbing his face. "Look, still gotta hold him until we have proof he didn't do it."
"What you think his sister came back to town, he followed her, took her out to the woods and what? Tore her in half with his bare hands?" Aurelia asks, slightly incredulously.
"No, but you know how it works. It has to go through the proper channels. I can't just let him leave because you walked in here and said he didn't do it." Noah says.
"He didn't kill his sister, Noah. She was- She was all he had left. Now the only family he's got is lying comatose in a hospital bed. Why would he do that to her or himself?" Aurelia asks.
"Kid, I believe you. But I can't just go skipping steps of the correct procedures because you asked me to." Noah says.
"What if I can provide him with an alibi?" Aurelia asks.
"Yeah, that'd work. If Stiles hadn't told me you were out there with him and Scott the other night." He responds.
"He wasn't in town that night. He got in the morning after." Aurelia says.
"Which I assume he told you. Which I know you know isn't a solid alibi." Noah says.
"No, but-"
"Aurelia, it's just until the medical examiner can look at the body. Which he should be doing today. Okay?" Noah says.
"I mean, I'm not gonna say 'yeah, okay, cool' because I don't mean it. But I will acknowledge I don't have a say in the matter." Aurelia responds and he nods.
"Yeah, I'll take it." Noah says and she lets out a slightly frustrated hum.
.·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·. .·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·.
Aurelia folds her arms across her chest as she waits by the side of the field for Scott and Stiles to turn up, idly drumming her fingers against her arm. "Hey, Lia!" Stiles says brightly and she turns to look at him before immediately hitting his arm. "Ow! Okay, my Dad said you might do something like that."
"You got my best friend arrested for murder? Are you insane?" Aurelia hisses.
"He buried the dead girl outside the old Hale House!" Stiles exclaims defensively.
"You're an idiot!" Aurelia retorts.
"I know that!" Stiles responds and she huffs, narrowing her eyes at him briefly. "I'm sorry?" He hesitates slightly when she continues glaring at him. "I don't know what you want from me. What's going to make you stop glaring at me?" He asks.
"Derek being exonerated." Aurelia responds.
"Well, I can't do that." Stiles says.
"I'm aware. But it's your fault he's in jail, so, until that is undone, I'm gonna be angry with you." Aurelia responds.
"Great. That's just great." Stiles says and she shrugs before moving to sit down on the bench and Stiles hesitates a little before moving to sit next to her.
"Hey!"
Both of them glance over their shoulders to see Delaney walking over to them and Aurelia raises a brow at Stiles briefly. "Hey, Del." Stiles says.
"Scott's still playing?" She asks and Aurelia frowns a little in confusion as she glances at Stiles.
"Yeah, against everyone's best interest." Stiles responds and Aurelia pauses slightly, glancing forwards.
No, there was no way they'd told her. There was no chance Stiles or Scott had told an Argent that Scott was a werewolf. No chance.
"I thought you were gonna explain the whole 'anger makes him lose control' thing." Delaney says.
Oh, my God. They had. They'd told an Argent that Scott was a werewolf. They were idiots. Complete and total idiots.
"I tried. He chose not to listen." Stiles responds.
"Great, uh, my dad is here. So, if he turns, he's screwed." Delaney says.
"Great, wonderful." Stiles responds and Aurelia just stares across the field mostly just in complete shock.
"I've gotta go." She says.
"Yeah, okay." Stiles responds before she heads back up the bleachers.
"Did-"
"Hey, kid." Noah says, cutting Aurelia off as he appears behind them.
"Hey." Stiles responds.
"So, you think you'll see any action tonight?" Noah asks.
"Action? Maybe." Stiles responds idly and Aurelia hums softly.
She waits until Noah heads to sit down with Melissa before turning to look at Stiles. "Did you tell Delaney about Scott?" She asks and he looks over at her.
"I mean, she kinda figured it out. But, yeah." Stiles responds and Aurelia just stares at him as she tries to figure out how to respond. "What?"
"You're a fucking idiot." Aurelia says and he turns to look at her, slightly startled.
"What did I do now?" He asks.
"She's an Argent." Aurelia says.
"Yeah, I'm aware." Stiles responds with a frown.
"Stiles, her dad is a hunter. But more importantly that entire family are hunters. The Argent family is one of the most prolific hunting families in the United States." Aurelia says and he pauses a little.
"Okay, I mean, that's not good. But she's not a hunter. She's just aware of the supernatural." Stiles says.
"As far as you're aware." Aurelia counters.
"What? You think she lied to me?" Stiles asks.
"Telling a little white lie is far from the craziest thing an Argent has ever done for information. What the hell were you thinking?" Aurelia asks.
"I don't know. She seemed trustworthy!" Stiles defends and she scoffs slightly incredulously. "Her dad hasn't come to kill Scott yet!" Stiles argues.
"Yet." Aurelia counters and he pauses a little.
"Scott's sixteen, would they really kill him?" Stiles asks.
"Stiles, all hunters hear 'supernatural' they shoot first, ask questions later. It's never mattered before how old or how innocent they are. What makes you think it would now? Who do you think caused the Hale Fire?" Aurelia whispers harshly.
"What? Delaney and Allison's dad?" Stiles asks.
"No, not their dad. But Argent hunters, yes." Aurelia says and he hesitates a little, looking back at the field. "They don't need a reason, Stiles. Being supernatural is their reason. They don't care who or what you are. They don't care what you have and haven't done. If you are supernatural anything, you're on their hit list." Aurelia says.
"We didn't know that." Stiles says.
"You should have asked. This is what I mean. You can't find everything out by googling shit, Stiles. There's stuff you'll never find. And the missing information could be what gets someone hurt or killed." Aurelia says.
"And you know all this because your friends with Derek? If things are that dangerous, I don't see how that would be enough for them to tell you about werewolves." Stiles says and she sighs.
"It's not." Aurelia responds.
Okay, they were doing this now then. Great. Exactly how she wanted it to go.
"Then what? You being so close with the Hales never made any sense. They were always really withdrawn. And now I know it's because of the werewolf thing, it makes even less sense." Stiles says and she sighs, looking at the field briefly.
"My entire family were close with the Hales. I spent more time there than I did at home at one point. Which is why they were at my graduation." Aurelia says. "Because my family aren't exactly human."
"You're what?" Stiles exclaims and she shushes him when several people turn to look at them. "What?"
"Look, I kept it a secret to keep you safe. To keep you out of the supernatural. And that is the only reason. And honestly, if you'd never ended up involved in this, I never would have told you. Because this shit is dangerous, Stiles. And I need you to understand that. The Hales were killed because they were werewolves. My mom died because of our name." Aurelia says.
"So, what? You guys are werewolves too?" Stiles asks and she huffs out a soft laugh.
"No. Not werewolves. I know a lot about them and I may adopt slightly werewolf-ish behaviours sometimes but that's because I grew up surrounded by the fuckers. No, I'm a witch." She says.
"Oh, my God, that's so cool." Stiles says and she rolls her eyes briefly with an amused smile. "So, you like, do spells and shit?" He asks and she looks at him dryly.
"Spells and shit?" She asks, raising a brow.
"You know what I mean." He responds and she sighs.
"Looks wise, think Scarlet Witch, kinda." She says and he nods a little. "We don't really use spells for normal stuff. More for complex magic like rituals and stuff. Kinda like Charmed, I guess. Don't make potions, not what you'd think of as potions anyway. They're more like tonics and remedies. Each witch has a specialty. Freya's is a little hard to explain. It's like protection magic, but she also has a proficiency for 'potion work'. Uh, Bash's specialty essentially presents as umbrakinesis, I guess." Aurelia says.
"Cool. This is so much cooler than werewolves. What about you?" He asks.
"I'm getting to it. My mom was a nature witch. She was good at finding the natural resources for rituals and 'potions', Freya was good at performing the rituals and making the 'potions'. My grandfather was a time witch. So, he'd have premonitions. Think Phoebe but ramped up to about ten. He knew everyone's future as soon as he met them. And I mean everything. My grandma's was protective magic, same as Freya. So, like warding, runic work. David's human. Richard human. Uh, mine is anything to do with the mind. So, I have telepathy and empathy." Aurelia says.
"That's awesome."
"It's not that great. You know the episode where Prue gets empathy? It's like that all the time. I've just gotten used to it. Took me a hot minute too. Uh, but yes, literally everything you've ever thought or felt, I've heard. Every time you thought you got away with lying to me, I was fully aware, I just let you feel better about it." She says and he frowns a little as he looks past her. "Well, everything since I was thirteen anyway." She adds and he nods a little. "You okay?"
"Just regretting the past three years." He responds and she smiles a little in amusement with a small nod.
"Another reason I didn't want to tell you. Save us both the embarrassment of realising that yes, I heard that. And I don't need to hear it again. Stop it." Aurelia says and he flushes bright red.
"Oh, God." He mutters, burying his face in his hands and she huffs before glancing at the field, tilting her head a little when one of their players intentionally avoids passing to Scott.
"Not to ruin your little pit of self-loathing you're sinking into but why aren't they passing to Scott?" Aurelia asks.
"No idea but I assume Jackson." Stiles responds and she nods a little. "So, literally everything?" He asks.
"Which part of everything are you having trouble with?" She asks.
"The everything part." Stiles responds and she rolls her eyes.
"Yes, literally everything." Aurelia says.
"God, I've thought so many things nobody was ever supposed to know about. For a variety of reasons." Stiles says.
"I'm unfortunately well aware." Aurelia responds and he groans.
"Wait, does that mean you always know what gifts you're getting?" He asks.
"You have odd priorities but yes?" Aurelia responds.
"So, all that work to keep your birthday and Christmas gifts secret was completely futile the entire time?" He asks and she shrugs a little. "Oh, man."
"Yeah, weird priorities, like I said. But if that's really your biggest concern, I think I'll ignore it." Aurelia responds.
"You didn't think I'd be-"
"No. Like I said, it had nothing to do with you aside from wanting to keep you out of the supernatural. It's a once you're in there's no way out kinda situation. You see it everywhere even if you try not to." Aurelia says and he nods.
"At least you answering questions before people can ask them makes more sense now." Stiles remarks and she shrugs.
"It's hard not to. I have to hear most things twice. If I can prevent that, I just do it instinctively." Aurelia explains.
"That makes sense." Stiles says, looking at the field. "Oh, he does not look good." He says and Aurelia looks back at the field, immediately looking for Scott.
"Oh, he's getting angry. Very angry." Aurelia says.
"Yeah, well, they're all going out of their way to stop him from doing anything." Stiles says before both of them wince when Jackson rams into Scott just as the latter nearly reaches the ball, sending him to the ground hard.
"Shit." Aurelia mutters before Jackson scores and everyone stands to cheer behind them.
"That's it, Jackson! Get fired up! Fired up!" Coach shouts and Aurelia sighs.
"That's not helping." She mutters and Stiles shakes his head.
"No, it is not." Stiles responds.
"God, he's gonna kill someone. He's gonna kill Jackson. Which wouldn't be that bad of a loss for everyone but it's gonna get Scott killed too." Aurelia says.
"You know, your ability to hold a grudge against a teenager for pretty much no reason amazes me." Stiles says.
"It's not 'no reason'. I hate his father. For justified reasons. And he's a dick. And I don't like bullies. I was friends with bullies. But I gave them even more shit than I give Jackson. And that was to their faces rather than behind their backs." Aurelia says.
"How did you have friends?" Stiles asks and she shrugs a little.
"Pretty privilege. Accounts for a lot of things that don't make sense." She says before frowning a little at Scott as Stiles looks at her with a slight frown and glancing over her shoulder. "Ouch." She says and Stiles hums before turning to where she'd looked.
"Oh, brutal." Stiles says when he sees Allison and Lydia holding up a sign that says 'WE LUV U JACKSON'. "Oh, this is not gonna be good." Stiles says as he looks back at Scott.
"God, I do not miss being a teenager." Aurelia says, shaking her head a little before looking forward again. "Well, I do a little. Not for the high school part of it. I miss when I was a teenager." Aurelia says.
"Yeah, the high school part sucks." Stiles says and she hums.
"Why do I work here?" She asks, looking over at him.
"I have no idea. I'm also not clear on your job." Stiles says.
"Yeah, neither am I. It makes doing it kinda difficult. All I know is I make Coach's lesson plans for him and I sit here during games and practice." Aurelia responds.
"Yeah, it's a weird job. Because you're not exactly qualified to be a TA." Stiles says.
"I'm not qualified to do anything I do." Aurelia retorts. "I took a safeguarding course when I started. That's as far as my related qualifications go. I mean, my degree is in Classical History, so, I have no idea."
"You have a degree?" Stiles asks.
"Yeah, I went to college. It's where I met Nancy." Aurelia says.
"You went to college?" He asks.
"Yes, I went to college! How do you not know that?" Aurelia asks with a confused frown.
"I don't know. How didn't I know that?" Stiles responds and she shakes her head.
"You worry me." She says before looking back out at the field, tilting her head a little when the player closest to Scott slowly backs away from him.
"Why is he moving away?" Stiles asks.
"Uh, I think Scott is growling quietly." Aurelia responds and he nods.
"Fantastic." Stiles responds and she hums softly.
Aurelia drums her fingers against her leg as she watches the game before raising her hand to bite at her nails when Scott jumps in the air to catch the ball. "Oh, God. He really needs to be taught the art of subtlety." Aurelia mutters under her breath as he dodges three other players with ease. "As soon as control is down, subtlety is next. We clear." She says to Stiles and he nods.
"Yeah, sounds good." He responds, frowning a little at the field as they watch Scott make his way towards goal.
Aurelia's eyes widen slightly when Stiles suddenly shoots up to his feet, pumping his arms excitedly as he shouts when Scott scores. She glances up at him briefly before ducking when he flails his arms and nearly hits her in the face. "Jesus Christ." She says.
"Yes! That's what I-" Aurelia raises a brow when he turns to the other player beside him for a high-five that gets completely ignored. "What? What?!" Stiles shouts.
"Alright, sit down before someone gets hurt." Aurelia says to him when he flails again slightly.
"McCall! Pass. To. McCall!" Coach shouts.
Aurelia frowns a little as she watches the field as everyone gets into place for the next play, bouncing her knee a little when a player from the other team turns to Scott and reaching out to blindly push Stiles' glove away from his face as the player throws the ball straight to Scott. Both of them briefly register Scott sitting down beside Stiles but neither of them actually look away from Scott. "Did the opposing team just deliberately pass us the ball?" Coach asks and Aurelia notices Stiles nodding in her peripheral vision.
"Yes, I believe so, Coach." Stiles responds as they watch Scott rush down the field.
"Interesting." Coach responds and Aurelia hums briefly before glancing away from Scott and towards the stands briefly to make sure Chris wasn't clocking the clearly suspicious behaviour from Scott. And honestly, she was also concerned about the fact that he didn't seem concerned by Scott's behaviour because Scott was being about as obvious as a brick through a window.
Either he was just super obtuse about it and potentially a kinda shitty hunter or he already knew. She just really hoped it was the former. She kind of had a feeling it was the former.
She looks back at the field just in time to see Scott throw a ball that tears straight through the goalie's net. Oh, God, they were so going to die.
"Goal! Yes! Yes! There you go!" Coach shouts loudly as he walks up and down in front of the bench.
"There you go, McCall!" Coach cheers before the opposing team's Coach walks over to get his attention and argue about the validity of the goal. Aurelia shakes her head in exasperation as she buries her face in her hands. "What? The ball's in the net!" Coach argues and she sighs.
"Ball's in the net!" Stiles echoes and Aurelia turns to look up at him incredulously.
"That's the goal of the game! Is get the goal in the net!" Coach argues.
"We got it!" Stiles announces excitedly.
"We got it!" Coach repeats before blowing his whistle to punctuate his point and Aurelia flinches slightly because of the noise before resting her forehead against her hand as she shakes her head.
She wasn't surprised, she just also refused to get involved because she knew if it had been the other way around, he'd be fighting tooth and nail to get the goal disallowed.
"What?" Stiles asks when she looks at him impatiently as he sits back down.
"Why do you make my life harder? Don't encourage him." Aurelia says and he shrugs.
"Goal was in the net." Stiles says.
"Say that again and I will push you off this bench." Aurelia says.
"Pretty sure staff aren't allowed to go around pushing students off benches." Stiles says and she hums.
"So, I'll get fired." Aurelia responds with a smile.
"You're evil." He says.
"Yes. You're aware of this." Aurelia says and he nods, shrugging a little.
"Yeah, fair point." Stiles says before looking back at the field.
Aurelia watches as Scott suddenly stops mid-run after picking up the ball before sitting up straight when she realises he was losing control. "No, no, Scott, no, no." Stiles mutters under his breath beside her and Aurelia raises her hand to bite at her thumbnail anxiously.
And then, with seven seconds remaining on the clock, Scott seems to suddenly jolt back to attention and Aurelia glances behind her briefly at Allison with an eye roll. Great, a girl he'd known for less than a week, an Argent no less, being his anchor was definitely going to end well. She looks back at the field to see the ball land in the back of the net as the goalie dives out of the way, just as the buzzer sounds and the referee blows his whistle.
"Yes! Ha!" Stiles exclaims as he jumps up to his feet and Aurelia leans to the side slightly to avoid his being hit by him again. "Oh, my God!" He says, glancing at Aurelia and she nods a little. "You don't seem excited. Why don't you seem excited?" Stiles asks.
"No, I am. I'm just also a little concerned. He came very close to fully losing control there. Very close." Aurelia says.
"But he didn't though." Stiles says, gesturing at her briefly.
"No, I know. I'm just looking at this practically. And I'm a little worried. I've got a feeling learning control is not going to come to him naturally." Aurelia says.
"Well, we'll help him." Stiles says.
"I know. But, I don't know how Allison and Delaney's dad didn't register this tonight. The more he does this, the more obvious it's gonna become to him and any other hunters that turn up." Aurelia says. "And I can't help him alone."
"He's got me too." Stiles says.
"Yeah, which will help. But I mean, he needs a werewolf to help him." Aurelia says.
"You mean Derek?" Stiles asks.
"Unless you've got another one on hand, then yeah." Aurelia says before turning around with a slight frown and looking at Noah where he was standing on the phone.
"What?" Stiles asks before turning around to see the slight frown on Noah's face. "Dad, what's wrong?" Stiles calls and Noah just holds up a finger at the two of them. "What's going on?" Stiles asks, looking at Aurelia.
"He's talking to the medical examiner." Aurelia says.
"Dad?" Stiles asks when Noah hangs up before walking over to them.
"Medical examiner determined it was an animal. Derek's free to go, if you want to go pick him up, they're letting him go now." Noah says.
"Is he sure? Because Derek buried the body." Stiles says and Aurelia looks at him pointedly.
"You didn't tell him?" Noah asks, looking at Aurelia and she shakes her head.
"Didn't tell me what?" Stiles asks, looking between them.
"It was Laura Hale. Derek's older sister." Noah says, looking back at his son.
"Cool, so, I'm gonna go pick Derek up." Aurelia says, gesturing over her shoulder and Noah nods. "Great, thanks." Aurelia says, whacking Stiles' arm briefly before walking away.
"Okay, that hurt!" Stiles calls after her.
"Yeah, it was supposed to!" Aurelia calls back and Noah shakes his head with a hint of an amused smile.

"Hey."
"You ever gonna let me live this down?" Derek asks as he walks over to Aurelia's car.
"Yes but only this once because it was Stiles and Scott. This happens again and you'll be hearing about it for the rest of our lives." Aurelia says and he nods.
"I'll take it." He says, walking around the car to open the passenger side door.
"I did try to come and get you out after you called but apparently me promising really hard doesn't equate to an alibi. And the law doesn't work like that or something." Aurelia says.
"Yeah, didn't think it would. Just figured I may as well use my one call to tell you in case nobody else did." Derek responds and she nods with a hum.
"Noah asked if you were aware you were supposed to use that call to call your lawyer." Aurelia says as she climbs into the car.
"Well, I would but I don't think he'd pick up. Unless comas don't work how I think they do." Derek says.
"You didn't know coma patients could still take work calls?" Aurelia asks.
"No, wish someone had told me that. I definitely would have called my lawyer if I'd known." Derek responds dryly.
"Ah, well, you know for next time." Aurelia responds, gently patting his arm before starting the car.
"How close did Scott come to killing someone at the game tonight?" Derek asks.
"Oh, extremely. Luckily, even though he was there, Chris Argent didn't seem to realise he was losing control and shifting." Aurelia says.
"How obvious was he being?" Derek asks.
"Well, he was growling at other players, one player from the other team directly threw the ball to Scott and he scored a goal that he threw so hard it tore through the goalie's net." Aurelia says and Derek looks over at her with a frown as she pulls out of the parking space.
"Is he a really shit hunter?" Derek asks and she shrugs.
"It's the conclusion I came to. That or he already knows and he didn't seem to know." Aurelia says and Derek hums, tilting her head.
"Wouldn't mind him being in town if he's just shit at hunting." Derek says with a shrug.
"Yeah, I still don't want him in town. A shitty hunter can be just as dangerous as a good hunter." Aurelia says.
"Yeah, but it's less likely to be us." Derek says with a shrug and she frowns at him briefly before humming. "What?"
"I was going to ask how the hell you have any friends but then I realised I'm your only friend. So, that answers my question." Aurelia says.
"Nice."
