Why Were You Never Around?

(N/N)=Nickname

We walked out to the jail yard and I went to the benches.

The jail yard was a large cement platform with nothing but dirt and benches. It was surrounded by metal fences, lined with barbed wire. There was a fence in the middle, dividing the males and the females.

The benches I sat at were against the fence that separated us. I watched the door that the men came out of.

"Hey Queen." Shallow greeted. Don't ask about her nickname-I honestly don't know, nor care.

My nickname, on the other hand, went from "Princess" to "Queen."

I looked at her, "Hm?"

"You waitin' for ya boys?"

I looked back at the door, "Yeah, this'll probably be the only time I get to talk to them."

She shrugged and sat down, "What's there to really talk about? I mean, you live with them."

I leaned against the fence, "I wasn't really around much."

She looked at me, "Wha-"

We heard the doors open. Everyone's attention went to the men walking out.

I saw Craig first. He had orange pants on, but he wasn't wearing an orange shirt. Instead he was wearing a white shirt, but it looks like someone ripped on the sleeves. He looked pretty dirty, but some of the women thought he looked sexy.

Marcel was second. He had the jumpsuit on completely, but the front wasn't buttoned and he wasn't wearing another shirt under it like everybody else. More women went nuts.

Tyler was the last one to come out of the building. Of course, he didn't have a shirt, and all the girls went crazy, but he looked like a douche.

I laughed as they looked at me and walked over to me.

"What?" Craig laughed.

"You guys look like you're having to much fun."

They laughed a bit, gave some stupid explanation, and sat down.

"What about you not being around?" Shallow asked.

I crossed my arms and thought about B.R.I.A.N.

After updating our security, we started building up our combat. However, we seemed to lack something that I didn't realize we needed until we almost got caught: Backup.

What happened was that we tried to rob one of the most popular gas stations in Los Santos. We were about to get away, but they got in the way.

That's when I first met "Them."

We sneaked down the road and turned down the alley we parked the truck. I jumped into the back and held out my hands, signifying that they could start handing me the cash.

The car bounced like someone just jumped on it. I grabbed the side of the truck so I could keep my balance. I turned around, and met a monkey.

It was a shirtless white man with baggy black pants. He wore a monkey mask with a cigar in his mouth. The part that really freaked me out though, was that fact that it was so dark, it looked like he didn't have eyes.

"You got a new partner?" He said in a child-like voice.

I suddenly felt less intimidated by him.

"(N/n), get off the truck." Wildcat said. I turned to him because he sounded pressured, like he's meant to say it before, but it didn't come out until now.

"Oh come on!" The monkey man said, "I'm not going to hurt him."

I turned around and put my hand on my hip, "Him?"

He breathed in really fast and covered his mouth with his hand.

He moved it for a second, "I am so sorry."

"Really Mega Monkey," Another male voice said, but he sounded insane. I turned around and saw three figures drop down behind Wildcat, Mini, and Basically, "I was on the roof, and I could tell that she was a girl!"

The three men walked out of the shadows as the guys turned around. The first one I saw was the one behind Wildcat; An owl. He wore all black and his owl mask had huge, white bags under his bright yellow eyes.

Another one was a raccoon. He stood behind Basically and he wore all black too. His mask looked stupid though; The raccoon's tongue was sticking out and the eyes were wide open.

The last one was behind Mini. He wore bright blue pants and jacket with a sun rise shirt. He had an eagle mask that looked way too big for his head. He basically looked really lazy.

"Who the..." I whispered, but my voice faded to nothing.

"I am Bat Owl." The owl man said, putting his hands on his hips.

"I'm Mega Monkey!" The monkey squeaked.

"I am Batcoon." The insane raccoon said.

"And I am Early Bird." The eagle said.

Ironically, I noticed him last.

"And we're going to kick your ass!" Wildcat and Bat Owl said at the same time.

They both lunged at each other. Mini and Basically did the same with the other two. I didn't turn around, but I knew Mega monkey was about to do the same to me.

I roundhouse kicked him in the chest before he even realize what was going on. He was on the truck's bed, but the car started up and distracted me. He kicked the back of my knee and I almost hit my head on the side of the truck as I fell. He got up and hovered over me and put his foot out, like he was going to step on me.

Luckily for me, the training payed off.

I put my foot to his and pushed with all my might. Not only did I throw him off guard, but I kicked him right off the truck. I was going to get up and say a cool and funny wit, but the duffel bag full of money landed on my chest.

Without warning, the truck jerked me back. My bandanna almost flew off as I sat up to see what was going on.

I looked through the small window that separated the back seat from the trunk. Wildcat floored the gas petal as Mini and Basically looked at me.

"You okay?" Mini asked.

"Fine," I huffed out, "you?"

He had some dirt on him, but he didn't look hurt.

"Could be better."

I nodded and turned back around to see if they were following us. Sure enough: They were. They were running and they didn't look like they had weapons, but then again, it was dark and they were running way faster than a normal human.

I was going to yell something like: 'They're following us!' but Bat Owl and Early Bird stopped running and just stood where they were. My attention went to Mega Monkey and Batcoon, but two black figures flew straight up into the sky.

They were both slightly diagonal with their faces turned so they could look cool in front of the moon. But at the time, the only thing that surprised me was the fact that these men had wings!

"They can fly?" I hollered.

"(N/n), get down!" Wildcat screamed.

I was going to turn around and ask why, but the bird men gradually fellow forward until they were pointing at the truck. I was unbelievably terrified when they came zooming at me in the speed of light.

I felt something next to me, so I grabbed it without even noticing what it was. Bat Owl was two feet away from me, and I swung whatever it was.

He flew to the side and hit Early Bird. They both fell back and they got tangled in their wings.

I looked at what I was holding: a baseball bat. I looked through the window again and Basically and Mini were smiling like they just saw a baby walk for the first time.

I got down and waited at least an hour until we got to our destination.

We have this barn that we go to so the cops won't follow us back to our house. It's not in the middle of nowhere, nor is it very far from the main parts of Los Santos. We also have a spare van there in case there's a mark on the truck and the cops remember it.

When we got there, one of the guys patted the truck to tell me I could get out. I got up with the money bag and jumped over the side.

While Marcel and Craig were basically praising me for what I did, Tyler looked disappointed.

I gave the bag to Marcel, walked over to Tyler, and pulled my bandanna down, "Look, I'm sorry I didn't listen to you, but I didn't kn-"

"I'm not mad at you." He stated, "I just..."

"What?" Craig asked.

"I can't believe I'm going to say this," He mumbled, "but we need backup."

"What'd you mean?" Craig asked.

Tyler stood up straight, "(Y/n) found that baseball bat with nothing but pure luck! If it weren't for her, we'd be on our way to jail right now!"

"Okay, and?" Craig said raising an eyebrow.

"What if that baseball bat wasn't there?" Tyler said.

Craig didn't ask anymore questions after that.

"Well, what's your plan?" Marcel asked.

Tyler sighed, "I honestly don't have one. It's not like we can go put out 'Help Wanted' signs."

I suddenly got the idea, "What are you looking for in a partner?"

Tyler shrugged, "Someone like us pretty much."

I smiled, "I can do that."

Form that point on, I started to build B.R.I.A.N. I had a notebook full of the features, upgrades, and personality traits. He was everything the team lacked and it was awesome.

I stayed away for the boy for almost a year because I wanted this to be a surprise, but they started looking through my stuff because they wanted to know what was going on. I didn't tell them until I randomly told them all to get into the truck one day.

I drove them out to the barn where I've kept him and everything about him. I got out of the car before they even unbuckled.

Craig got out of the car first, "(Y/n), what's going on?"

My smile grew bigger and I sang, "It's a surprise!"

He rolled his eyes and giggled. They all got out of the car and stood in front of me.

"I know I've been neglecting you guys for a while now," I said and they nodded, crossing their arms, "but I'd like you to meet our new partner in crime."

"What?" They all screamed. Marcel seemed happy, Craig seemed surprised, but Tyler seemed mad.

"Are they inside?" Marcel asked.

I smiled again, "Yeah, he just has to fin-"

"What were you thinking?" Tyler shouted.

My smile went away, "What?"

"You told someone about us?" He voice began to rise, "You let someone in the barn?"

"Can you at least meet him first before you start yelling at me?"

He rolled his eyes, "Fine, but I've killed people before. I want both of you to know that."

I shook my head and smiled, "Anyway, you guys ready to meet him?"

They all nodded and I opened the barn doors. They didn't say anything because no one was in there line of view. All they saw were papers on the ground, trash bins filled to the rims, and something underneath a white sheet.

"(Y/N)," Tyler said and I turned to look at him, "does our 'new partner' trash places like you?"

I laughed, "No. Actually, this mess is mine."

"Then where is he at?"

I smiled a signaled for them to follow me. We walked to the thing under the sheet.

"Meet," I said and removed the sheet, "our new partner."

They stared at him in awe as I turned him on. I looked at him myself. He had slick, dark brown hair that oddly matched his pale, blue eyes. He was very well built and average height. He wore our signature white, button up shirt with a black tie and the black pants. My only regret was the fact that his skin was super pale.

"Hello." He said in a Irish accent.

"Why is he Irish?" Craig laughed as he continued to study him.

"It was glitch, and it was really easy to fix, but I kind of like it." I explained, "Plus, it matches his skin."

"What can he do?" Marcel asked.

"Well," I laughed, "I'm glad you asked. He comes with a Google chip that requires him to answer any question as fast as possible. He knows every combat move known to mankind, and he can develop any weapon right at his fingertips. He is waterproof, fireproof, and acid proof. He can feel any emotions, but we can just restart him if he doesn't listen-which is very unlikely."

"Do we have to charge him?" Tyler asked.

"Yes. It takes him eight hours to charge, but that energy will last for three days. Plus, he has a battery saver chip, so if he's not doing anything, he won't use up battery fuel." I explained.

"What's his name?" Marcel asked.

My eyes widened and I looked at him, "I didn't give him a name."

"Well," Tyler said, "what do you want to call him?"

"I don't know. Do you have any ideas?"

"Oh no." He said, "I'm not naming him! You were the one who built him!"

"Brian!" Craig shouted.

"Why Brian?" We all said at the same time.

"Brilliant, Robotic, Irish, Animatronic, Noob!"

I thought about it for a second, and shrugged, "Okay, let's call him B.R.I.A.N."

I quickly added a few adjustments, so he would answer to "Brian" and understand who we are, what we do it, and how thing are going to be.

It was so easy for all of us to get used to each other. The only difference between all of us is the fact that he can't make a mistake. He can work out all the details, advantages, and flaws in out plans in a heartbeat.

Thank you B.R.I.A.N.

"Where is he doing right now?" Shallow asked.

I shrugged, "The barn."

She nodded and got up.

Tyler raised an eyebrow, "What's he doing at the barn?"

I smirked, "All you need to know is that he can't make a mistake."
