The Battle

Yeah, sappy title I know. And yes, I changed the cover. Thanks to @RainbowDash13579 for the input!! This one's for you!

I knew the room would be destroyed in the fight, that much was obvious. But I truly didn't expect the entire tower to get demolished.

The first move Slade made was to launch himself at me. Probably not the smartest move for either of us, as my instinct brought a wall of rock up in front as a shield. Great, that came up through what, five floors? He simply planted his feet on the wall and vaulted over. He landed in between me and the only door on all fours like a cat. He blocked the exit, cutting off my only escape route.

Not that I was going to run away like a coward at a time like this.

I broke apart the wall into a bunch of smaller rocks and sent them at Slade with a battle cry. He whipped out his bo staff again and began to twirl it out in front of him, decimating every rock it touched. That was the first time, back then. This is Now.

A few of the rocks flew over the range of the staff and gathered in a cluster behind his head. One by one they flew at his head.

But he's Slade. He doesn't become the Titans' biggest enemy by being oblivious. He ducked, backflipped, and disappeared from sight. Dare I follow?

I did.

It wasn't just a pay back for me, it was pay back for what he had made me do to the city. To my friends. I bunched a few rocks together to make a big one, and raised my glowing hand to light the way. Silkie had since disappeared, smart larvae, and I couldn't hear any tell-tale signs of life.

Running footsteps. I followed cautiously. Unskilled and naive as I was, I walked right into a trap.

At the end of the hallway, I was back in Main Ops. The meat on the stove was cold, lettuce leaves for tacos already wilted, and no light except for my fist.

He fell, nearly on top of me, from the ceiling. I was so surprised I let the rock drop and I fell backwards. He advanced, and I tried to back away, but he held up the remote.

I froze, pale and wide-eyed, giving him enough time to press the button. I grunted in pain as the electricity coursed through my body.

He stood over me, "Good, Terra. Now, you will help me destroy your friends." He said in the calm, rational voice that I hated.

This was it. My third chance to gain their trust and I failed. "I'm sorry Beast Boy, I had to break my promise..." I thought.

"Terra!" With that Beast Boy burst into the room, took in the scene with me and Slade, and lept at Slade with fury I've never seen him have before.

"Terra, go!" He told me before turning into a gigantic, furry beast I couldn't place.

I stood up slowly, my injuries from earlier beginning to ache again, "I won't let you face him alone!" I yelled.

My eyes began to glow. the windows and their metal coverings shattering on the floor as tons of earth broke through.

"Terra!" He yelled again. But it wasn't Beast Boy's voice.

Raven floated in the air in front of me. Her hood was down so I could see her face. All around us the rocks were swirling like the inside of a tornado.

"Terra, you can control it!" She yelled above the winds. Her face was begging me, a look I've never seen from her before nor since.

"I...I can't!" I cried. I wanted to, I truly did, but I couldn't move.

Raven saw my distress, then she looked at the suit, then she looked straight into my eyes.

"Azarath, Metrion, ZINTHOS!" She screamed. My suit was covered in black energy.

It hurt. Electricity crackled over my body again, making my hair stand on end. And then it was gone.

The suit was gone. In it's place was my Titans uniform, the clothes I wore when I fought with the Titans, before I betrayed them.

I stood up. Miraculously, my injuries seemed to be gone too. I jumped onto a larger rock as it flew by, and floated up until I was right above Slade and Beast Boy's skirmish.

Beast Boy wouldn't be able to take it much longer, "Gar!" I cried, and sent a rock to get him to safety. he had the energy to get on it and out of the way, for which I was grateful. I sent him to Raven, she would be able to help him.

I floated down to Slade.

"You know, I promised the Titans I wouldn't betray them again. More importantly, I promised myself." I stood in front of him now, arms crossed, goggles secured over my eyes.

"And a promise is something I will never break again."

"Very noble of you Terra, but do you really think you can hold that standard?" He taunted.

"I can, and I will!" I cried. The floor around him fell away, leaving him stranded. It was too far to jump to anything. The ground was crumbling- again.

"Get out of here!" I yelled to Raven She put a shield around herself and Beast Boy and disappeared.

There was an opening in the ceiling. Slade was gone already, but there was still a chance for me.

I landed on the shore facing the tower. Or at least -- what was left of the tower.

I turned to Robin, Cyborg, and Starfire, who were waiting onshore.

"I'm...Sorry about the tower guys," I apologized quietly as Raven appeared with Beast Boy. I stared at the sand, and then back at the Tower's ruins. My vision blurred with tears. They would never let me back on the team now.

I sniffed as I felt a hand on my shoulder. Maybe I could start a team of outcast heroes. We wouldn't fight, just be around others who were like us.

I looked at Robin, who gave me an easy smile, "You know Terra, it's just a house."

I couldn't help it, I laughed.

Starfire patted me on the shoulder, "We'll done friend!" Then she gave me another one of her bone-crushing hugs.

As soon as she let me go, Cyborg was hugging me too, "That's my little rock'n roller!" He cried.

I was finally able to breathe, and then Raven came up to me. She held another Titans comm in her outstretched hand.

"You've earned it." She told me once more with a smile.

I cried again, but happily. I hugged her too, and she barely let me.

"Terra," Beast Boy stood up in his torn clothes.

"Beast Boy! Are you alright?" I asked, once more nervous.

He winced as he rubbed a sore spot on the back of his head, "Never better," he promised.

"Hey, you know, we forgot something," I told him.

"Really? What?" He said with his confused face I loved so much.

"This," I whispered, and leaned forward to kiss him.

Don't worry! There's still more coming! I finally have inspiration for the rest of the story!!! Thank you @RainbowDash13579!!!!
