Chapter 11

Cyrus glared daggers at Gabe as they drove toward the expressway, "I can't believe you left her there!"

Gabe ignored her as he reached for his phone, "I'll make it up to her tomorrow!"  He looked in the review mirror after he sent Thea another text that begged her to call him, "But I'd love to know who told her about Sarah or would suggest that I've been cheating on her."

Cyrus gave Gabe a withering look before she turned to stare out the window. "I never told her about you cancelling so you could show Sarah around your dick."  When she heard Roderick suck in his breath she smirked, "Oh my bad I meant to say Dillon.  Nor did I ever tell her you were a cheating bastard."  Cyrus closed her eyes as she tried not to remember the times she'd said things that may have made Thea doubt Gabe though.  "Fuck!"

Gabe turned to stare blank faced at Cyrus.  "So I'm assuming it's occurred to you what you may have said, dear cousin."

"A few weeks ago I told her she needed to stop revolving her life around you."

Roderick looked at Cyrus in anger through the rearview mirror, "Why would you say that?  Why would you say anything about their relationship?"

"I don't know," shouted Cyrus.  "Thea's every thought revolved round his unfaithful ass like her life depended on it and it was pathetic.  I wanted her to realize that even though Gabe considered her important, his life didn't revolve solely around her."  Cyrus turned to glare at Gabe in disgust, "No one told you to cheat on her anyway!"

"How long have you been saying things like that," asked Gabe through clenched teeth.  "I had you come here to befriend her -."

"I was being her friend!"  Cyrus yelled as she stared back out the window.   "But you didn't really want me to befriend her you wanted me to make sure she didn't stray away from you while you were busy!"

"So fucking what," snapped Gabe as he turned to snarl at her.  "I wanted you to make sure the love of my life didn't fall in love with someone else!"

"And this is how you do it," yelled Cyrus as she turned to gaze angrily at him.  "You left the love of your life on her birthday at the train station.  You cancelled dates with her for bullshit ass reasons"

"I never cheated on her," yelled Gabe.

A humorless laugh burst forth from Cyrus as she shook her head, "Do you even realize that there are degrees to cheating.  You may have not physically cheated but you sure as hell was emotionally cheating on her!"

"What the fuck is emotionally cheating," yelled Gabe as he turned to stare at both Roderick and Cyrus. "Who made that up?  And if you feel so strongly about not leaving her why didn't you stay with her?"

Cyrus sucked her teeth before she responded coldly, "She broke up with you which means she is no longer my responsibility.  Weren't I brought her to keep your girlfriend occupied and to feel less lonely?"

"When this is over," growled Gabe as he turned to stare straight ahead, "I want you back in New York."

"Back to the New York back?  Or are you banishing me," asked Cyrus.

Roderick fingers tightened on the steering wheel as he sped down up the off ramp. "Cyrus, why couldn't you do what you were told to do? Why did you have to keep butting your nose into it?"

Cyrus turned to stare angrily at Roderick, "Why you ask?  Because if left up to Gabe Thea wouldn't have been able to have a fucking thought that was her own."  She smacked the leather seat as she growled, "You made sure she didn't have any friends in Dalton Row!  You made sure she was treated like an outcast!  You -!"

"She is mine!  She is to be my mate and your Luna," yelled Gabe as he fist smashed through the passenger side window.

Cyrus gazed in fear as she watched Gabe pull his bloodied hand back. "I can fix this all I need to do is talk to her."

"You need to calm down for what’s coming," came Roderick's calm voice, as he attempted to reign in Gabe's anger.  "Your father for whatever reason wasn't able to accept the challenge.  You need to get your head together you're his proxy.  My dad is trying to keep everyone from panicking and you being like this isn't going to help"

Gabe stared stonily as they pulled up the driveway to his house.  "I will kill whoever interrupted my date with Thea."  With a sigh he watched his fist healed, "And I will tell Thea everything tomorrow."

Cyrus pressed her lips together in contempt but remained silent.  She waited until he slammed the door to turn to Roderick, "He's messed up really bad."  Exiting the car behind Roderick she grabbed his hand and pulled, "If you ever cheat on me I'll castrate you."  When Roderick nodded she smiled as they both followed behind Gabe.

As Gabe started toward the stairs his mother rushed forward, "I'm so sorry but the Johansson pack was insistent.  A number of them have already tried to cross the bridge to Dalton Row but Philip was able to stop them."

"Really," grunted Gabe as he brushed past his mom.  "And where exactly is the leader of the Johansson pack that has challenged us?"

"He's behind the house," responded Jasmine as she tried to keep up with her very angry son.  "He showed up with his pack saying they would be taking over and challenged your father."

"Uh huh," grunted Gabe as he walked out the back of their home into the wooded area behind their house.  "And where is dad?"

"He attacked your father as soon as he opened the door," cried Jasmine as she came to an abrupt halt behind Gabe.  "Simon Johansson and his girlfriend April doesn't obey pack laws!  They are two strikes from being cast out by the council."

Gabe stared around the clearing with hostile eyes. "This is my pack," he snarled as his gaze landed on a tall burly red-haired man.  As he walked toward him he snapped, "Did you consult with the White Moon Council before you decided to challenge us?"

Visible shutters ran up Simon Johansson as he stared into the stormy green eyes of the next alpha of the Midnight Pack.  In a bold and defiant move he rose, "I've spoken to the council and they denied my bid to challenge this pack but I don't care!  I have come to challenge you," shouted Simon as his chest puffed up.

"Fine," snapped Gabe as he calmly started to disrobe.  "Mother please alert the council of his disregard to their decision."  With a glance back at Simon he sneered, "Remember you requested your own death by showing up uninvited,” With a fierce growl Gabe shifted into his pure silver wolf form.  He didn't wait for a reply before he launched himself at the man's neck.

"Oh gawd" screamed April, the young red head woman that had been seated next to Simon as he laid leisurely in the grass.

Gabe ripped into Simon's neck without mercy not stopping until he heard the gurgle of death come from the man's mouth.  With a vicious shake he tossed his dead body to the ground before his jade eyes turned to look at the other trespasser.

"You didn't even let him shift," screamed April as she stared in shock at her former lover's dead body.  "How could you claim this was a fair fight?"

Gabe shifted back and stared coldly at the woman.  With a swipe of his hand he wiped the man's blood from his mouth smearing it on his face. "He disobeyed the council and came here without their approval.  Pfft, you speak as if he deserved a fair fight." Angrily Gabe pulled on his pants as he stared at her in disgust, "He came to my family's land, attacked my father and demanded to challenge me while I was on a date.  He's lucky I didn't break every bone in his body before I killed him."  With a dispassionate look he smirked, "But I may not feel so inclined to bestow a merciful death on the rest of your pack."

April gasped as she stared into the cold eyes.  "You dare to threaten those that only obey their alpha?"   With a laugh April raised her hands and the wind picked up, "We are not as weak as you think!"

Gabe raised a hand and watched as a flame started to form, "I believe in your ignorance you failed to research the Midnight Pack.  The council would never allow such an inept pack to rule this territory."

"We know of your mother and her witchery," yelled April as she waved a hand to make the wind pick up more.  "Do you think a werewolf born with mixed blood began and ended with you?"

Gabe cocked an eyebrow as the wind blew harder, "Are you challenging me?"

April gasped as the flame in his hand grew in size instead of wavering in the wind she'd summoned. "No!  I believe I will make you a great Luna!  My blood lines are strong and can be traced back to the druids!"

"Not interested," snapped Gabe as he waved the fire away and tugged on his shoes.  "I have already chosen who my Luna will be and you are not her."

"I can make you happy and bring with me the Johansson pack injecting your pack with new blood," cried April as she leapt over the Simon's dead body.

Gabe turned to stare at her in disgust, "Wasn't that your boyfriend up until a minute ago?  You and the rest your pack have 30 minutes to get off my land."

"Sarah has told everyone about your wish to mate the girl from across the creek!  Do you really think she'll understand you?  Do you honestly think mating the descend of a Navajo shaman is going to increase your pack's power?"

Gabe turned to stare at the red head with a confused look, "Why would Sarah -?"  Gabe cut himself off as he snarled, "I don't know what you're talking about but you now have 29 minutes to get off my pack's land."

April laughed maliciously as she stalked past him, "You actually chose that bitch without a thought of her ancestry.  That's cute," mocked April before she shifted and ran toward the woods.

"What is she talking about," grumbled Gabe as he put his shirt on.  "Mom," he called to Jasmine, "Do you know what she's talking about?"

Jasmine nodded slowly as she stared at him with a cryptic look, "I'm not really sure."
