He Met Her
***
"Finally done with all the boring classes", a girl heaved a sigh of relief coming out of her university.
"I am hell tired with all the thesis submissions and now all I want is some good sleep and this weekend no one can wake me up from the bed", thinking longingly about her cozy Queen sized bed, the girl started walking. As her flat is just two kilo meters away, daily she walks back home in order to reduce a few calories.
"What a pleasant weather", thought the girl walking on the pavement. All of a sudden, the downpour started, and thanking her mother who always instructed her to carry an umbrella in the rainy season, she continued her walk in the protection of her umbrella. In the midst of all the people running for shelter, she found a man sitting on the pavement with his head down not bothering about his surroundings. As a car was about to splash water on him, she placed her umbrella in a way that it took all the muddy water instead of him.
"Hey you will get mud all over you if you keep sitting here", she said placing her hand on his shoulder. Looking at his attire, one could say that he is from a well-off family.
"Did I see him somewhere? His face looks familiar", thought the girl looking at his handsome face.
He stood up and with a smile that didn't reach his eyes, he thanked her and started moving ahead with the same lost expression. Looking at his state, she understood that if left alone, he either would kill himself or put someone in trouble. So she just pulled him to a nearby food truck and made him sit under the tree to save him from the drizzle though he was already drenched.
"Boss, I don't know who you are but looking at you, I feel you are distressed. If you feel that you need someone to talk to, you can speak with me", she said sitting beside him wanting to know more about him in a hope that she could remember something related to her past because his face feels so very familiar.
"Are you sure?", asked the man not wanting to bother a stranger with his miseries.
"Yes", replied the girl with the same smile.
With a sigh, the man started narrating his story.
"I am Sanskar, CEO of Karma industries", hearing which she raised her eyebrows because the company he mentioned is very renowned and the CEO is all over the news.
"If you are trying to lie, I must say you are very bad at it", said the girl suppressing her laugh.
Looking at her expression, he let out a smile.
"Just kidding, I am Sanskar Maheshwari, an aspiring producer. I lost my mom and dad when I was a kid and all I have is my twin brother Vansh. My day used to start with him and end with a movie. Though I am just a few minutes elder to him, I have loved him and taken care of him like a father but then only a few days back I understood that I was never part of his life and he was just waiting for the right time to run away from me", said Sanskar looking ahead lost in his own thoughts.
Taking his time to compose himself, Sanskar continued.
"When you trust someone and love them with all your life, you tend to ignore all the signs from the universe which was trying to warn you that this relationship doesn't last long. And in the end, when they leave us imparting scars making our life difficult to move on, we start blaming ourselves for trusting a wrong person", said Sanskar with pain evident in his voice.
"Why do his words, and his pain feel familiar. Does it has got something to do with my past?", thought the girl hearing his words. Involuntarily, she held his hand in hers and tears started rolling down her eyes looking into his eyes which were hopeless.
"Since I started working, I have saved most part of my earnings to fulfill my dream to open a production house. And as I was almost near to achieving it, my brother has taken all the money and left me. If not for the few assets left by my dad, I would have been on the roads by now", said Sanskar with a chuckle.
"Don't worry Sanskar, time heals everything", she said looking into his eyes and realizing that she was in tears, he hurriedly apologized.
"Sorry for bothering you with all my worries".
"No that's all right. Sanskar by any chance did we meet before?", asked the girl trying hard to remember the time when they met if ever they did.
"Why do you ask that question?", asked Sanskar not breaking eye contact.
"I don't know, you seem familiar", replied the girl not wanting to sound awkward.
"I wish I was the one whom your heart is trying to remind you Swara but then considering the amount of time you and Vansh spent together, I am sure it's him you are trying to see in me", thought Sanskar with a pang in his heart.
"Now the rain has stopped, let me treat you for giving me company till now and bearing with my nonsense", he said trying to divert the topic.
"What do you want to have miss?", asked Sanskar getting up.
"It's your treat so I would go and order for us. Not that we have many choices but ya I would be the one to choose. Later you can pay", saying which Swara went towards the food truck leaving Sanskar to smile at her retreating figure.
"This time, I will not let you fall for the wrong person Swara. I will write your story and make your life worth living. We will make so many beautiful memories that you wouldn't find the need to remember your past. Though I could never forgive Vansh for cheating on you and being the reason for your accident, I must thank him for your amnesia where you forgot him and his bitter memories", thought Sanskar gritting his teeth remembering his brother who left Swara for another girl after being in relationship with her for two long years.
After ten minutes Swara returned with hot momos and the smell made them realize that they were starving. They relished the dish and Sanskar paid the bill.
"So, miss...", before he continued, Swara interrupted.
"Sorry Sanskar, I didn't introduce myself. I am Swara Gadodia and I am doing my master's in literature. I was going back to my flat after my classes and I saw you sitting on the pavement. I found you familiar and my interest in knowing about my past has forced me to talk to you", said Swara with a smile.
"Why do you want to know your past?", asked Sanskar trying to sound surprised though he knew everything about her.
"Actually, I lost my memory in an accident last year. Since then I haven't remembered anything other than a few flashes whenever my parents took me to a few places which I used to visit frequently. But then today when I saw you, I felt I have seen you somewhere", replied Swara.
"If interested we can see each other more often in the near future", said Sanskar with a smile making Swara confused.
"I am planning to produce a web series. And I am looking for a scriptwriter. So, if you are interested, we can work together", said Sanskar for which Swara's face brightened.
"I would love to. Do text me the details", saying which she shared her WhatsApp number and bid bye to Sanskar continuing her walk to her flat.
Even Sanskar started walking to his car which he parked under a tree before planning his meet with Swara.
"You turned a producer into an actor Swara. I never thought that one day I will have to plan our meeting. In fact, I never dared to imagine my life with you because of your feelings for Vansh but then destiny has given me a chance, and this time, I will be the author of your story and I will make sure that happiness will be your friend for the lifetime", thought Sanskar going back to his house.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, I decided to continue this story and see where destiny takes Swara and Sanskar.
Would Vansh return?
Will Swara remember her past?
Can Sanskar be her future?
What do you guys think?
