The Battle Lines Are Drawn - NXT Attacks Smackdown!
Time Scale: 1 Day After Crown Jewel 2019, and 23 Days Before Survivor Series 2019 - Location: WWE Friday Night Smackdown Live.
Destroyer's Personal Observation:
Let me tell you something: there are few things that are guaranteed - both in this world itself and in wrestler too - but if there is one thing that you should definitely avoid trying to do...it's attacking a certain "King of Destruction" from behind...and pissing him off! Because I promise you this: you won't like what the consequences will be for you when he gets his hands on you!
And I ALWAYS get my hands on those foolish enough to attack me from behind!
Why am I saying all of this? Well, let me begin by explaining what happened the night prior - October 31st 2019, a.k.a. Halloween - at Crown Jewel...or, more specifically, the aftermath of that show.
Needless to say, from what I heard from websites like WrestleTalk and Cultaholic - yes, shocking I know, I've been listening to a bit of YouTube lately! - and from what little I did watch of the event itself: the show was an improvement from its disastrous predecessor the year prior due to some good to decent matches, despite the stinker of matches that were the WWE Championship match between Lesnar and Velasquez, and that match between Strowman and Tyson Fury.
As I have mentioned previously, though, I was not at the event because A. I wasn't allowed into the country, and B. Because I'd already defended the Universal Championships against Shinsuke Nakamura on the Smackdown before Crown Jewel. Not that I would have gone anyway if I was asked.
Oh but that was only the beginning: because from what everyone who was going to Smackdown tonight that hadn't gone to the Saudi show - like me, Cassie and Jessica for example - had found out, nearly everyone other than Vince and some others who went to Crown Jewel wasn't able to get on the plane back to the US for the Smackdown episode that was the fucking next day!
Why? Because either Vince became greedy and was trying to get the money owed to him from shows, or other reasons that haven't yet been determined.
How the actual FUCK did Vince allow this!?! It completely baffles the mind how he was able to get away before the chaos started, yet nearly everyone else from that goddamn show is - or was - stuck in Saudi and missing out on the show!
[Author: Calm down, Destroyer...]
Don't you tell me to calm down! And why are you breaking the fourth wall now anyway?
[Author: .....well you do, so...why the f**k not?]
Touche....
Anyway, where was I again? Oh yeah, now I remember. Anyway there was some rumors going around at the time for last minute changes to Smackdown to try and help with most of Smackdown's talent and staff being stuck overseas currently. I admit, I had did slightly joke that it could be NXT being used on Smackdown to try and lighten the mood...and boy, would that come back to laugh in my face when it did actually happen.
Don't get me wrong, I wasn't at all against it, and it was pretty cool to see and to see Shayna on Smackdown among other NXT mates of mine - even if they probably only going to be on Raw and Smackdown during the build-up for Survivor Series, and at said pay-per-view as well.
As for why "The King of Destruction" is mad, even if Michael Walker isn't - yes, I said my actual name for once, don't worry, I'm not ill - well for that we go to Smackdown itself:
Backstage:
As we arrived backstage at the venue for Smackdown: the difference between last weeks Smackdown compared to this weeks was like night and day - there was very few people there, be it in terms of the wrestlers or the rest of the staff for Smackdown that had go to Saudi for Crown Jewel.
The ones that were still there explained to us the story that they knew and had heard, and even one or two had shown us some tweets and posts from other wrestlers about the annoyance that was the airport and plane situation. Not the name I gave it, by the way, just the way it was described.
I was pulled briefly aside by Bryan Danielson - or Daniel Bryan, if you prefer...and more on him later... - and he explained to me what he knew about what was going on with Smackdown tonight...all whilst strangely keeping it as vague as he possibly could on certain details for this 'surprise'...
I initially thought they were going to make the mistake of bringing in older talent that was well passed their prime again to bolster the rooster, because lord knows old man Vince would no doubt do that given a chance. Oh how wrong that guess would turn out to be.
When the show began, and the anxious and long suffering fans who - to their credit - had paid to come to the show anyway despite the chaos of the last 24 or so hours: they were greeted if you will to something at least - you decide if it's positive or not - when one of my theme songs began to play in the background not too long after the first match and the first commercial break.
https://youtu.be/p9p9bMtLYko
Both I and "The IIconics walked into the ring as one of my theme songs played in the background - the Universal Championships around my waist and shoulder as we walked towards the ring.
Once we got in the ring, I couldn't help but slightly drop my stern, serious look as I heard the fans cheering and chanting us. There was the odd person who didn't - I was not foolish enough to believe otherwise, but a part of me thought it nice to hear anyway - before returning to my serious look as Billie and Peyton handed me a microphone whilst holding one each themselves.
I twirled the wrist that held the microphone in my hand briefly as I slowly paced the center of the ring a bit, before speaking into the microphone.
"For those of you who didn't see it last week: I took Shinsuke Nakamura to the limit last week over my Universal Championships...and who comes out after the match seemingly to challenge me for my belts? Daniel Bryan!"
The crowd started to chant the "Yes!" chant at the mention of Bryan - as well people starting to chant for Daniel Bryan as well, but to be fair both outcomes were to be expected by mentioning Bryan - and I simply let them get it out of their systems for a few moments. Don't get me wrong: I like Daniel, hell I've fought him before, but I have to maintain some level of seriousness.
After 30 seconds though, I soon continued as I looked over at Billie and Peyton. "Now, Billie and Peyton...forgive me for thinking otherwise...but have we ever gotten in the way of his business since I arrived to the company?"
Both looked at each other in mock thought, which I thought was kind of funny in a way, before both said in sync at the same time ""Nope!"" I followed up with this question: "And tell me, did it seem like to you that he was eyeing up these titles last week after I made Nakamura look up at the lights?"
I did mean that last part with respect, but come on: sometimes you have to be a little bit of a jackass when trying to get a point around, as you will soon see.
"Ya know, I think he was." Billie said in mock realisation, pretty to fake a gasp in mock surprise - a hand mockingly going over the top of her head at this 'realisation' - and Peyton followed up with a mix of a scoff at this 'realisation' and something related to slight mocking annoyance as well as she spoke.
"Anyone would think you've got a target on ya back, or that they can just walk up when they feel like it to challenge ya!"
I smirked a little, briefly, before pacing a little as I glanced momentarily at times at the camera.
"Well, it certainly seems that way with Bryan...And I bet you that right now that old fossil in the back - Vincent Kennedy McMahon - is probably chomping at the bits to find someone that will take my titles away from me, even if that 'someone' is the very man that - lest we ALL forget - he himself tried to keep out of the main event picture for what? Because the fans and other wrestlers clearly see more worth in him than Vince does? Because he was - and I quote - "a B+ player"?""
The crowd was surprised that I brought that bit of recent history up - if you call over 5 and a half years as 'recent history' that is - and I think I even heard a few fans chanting 'Fuck you Vince!' here and there. That won't be getting aired no doubt...spoil sports.
"Look, I don't care if Vince likes me or not - and I sure as hell don't care who he sends after me to try and take my titles from me, or whoever wants to pick a fight with me for these belts: take what happened to Seth Rollins when he went against me at Clash of Champions and ESPECIALLY at Hell In A Cell to heart, and hell even take what happened when Roman Reigns and Nakamura when they went against me and burn all of their matches with me into your brain..."
I paused very briefly as I glanced down at nothing in particular, catching my thoughts before continuing with a sense of foreboding and caution in my voice "...because I promise you this: if you want to go toe-to-toe with me...you will be lucky if I LET you get away from the fight with your spirit intact...and without a single drop of blood leaving your body by the end of the fight!
"I have fought with Aces of companies, I have broken and bled myself and many others that were foolish enough to be in my way, or unfortunate enough to be in my line of sight! HELL...I have come close to ending careers more than once, whether we wanted it or not! And they all have one thing in common...One singular thread that binds them all...they made the mistake of of going to war with me..."
I looked dead into the camera - making sure that all that could be seen or conveyed in my features and my eyes was pure intensity, intimidation, and a lack of a cheery nature that I sometimes have (Shut up, I do) - before speaking to one person specifically.
"Daniel Bryan...make no mistake about it Danielson, I respect you! I have always respected you, and I'll give you credit...you confronted me at the best possible moment last week and made yourself known to me as my next challenger in a simple way, and respect that...but make no respect Daniel: if you go against me, you are entering a war with me that ends when I dictate it!
"Not you, not Vince McMahon, not even those you care about: I am the one who says our war is over! And you will learn quickly, if you haven't already, that I am not the same naive rookie you met 6 years ago who did Death Matches WILLINGLY to make ends meet! You are entering the war-zone with someone who will have no problem in breaking you down again to survive!"
I was about to continue with my impassioned words, when I glanced over at the titantron momentarily and saw it changing to show the night time sky outside of the arena, which caused me to raise my eyebrow as me and "The IIconics" watched in confusion...and then, we saw it...
NXT had arrived...and they were invading Smackdown!
I glanced over to Billie and Peyton, and mouthed over to them a bit 2 words - sort of - as I threw the mic in my hand away, and those 2 words were these: 'We're leaving...' And with that, we started to leave the arena through the timekeepers area.
If only everyone knew what else was going to happen tonight...
End of pov.
Destroyer and "The IIconics" managed to avoid the invading NXT forces for the most part by hiding in the shadows - something that the camera's in these segments showed briefly when a piece of Destroyer's cloak flicked through into the light spaces when he was moving whenever a few invading NXT superstars past through attacking one the few Smackdown stars that was in the building.
The camera soon showed "The King of Destruction" after a match on Smackdown had come and gone coming out into the outside parking lot of Smackdown after cautiously poking his head in a way similar to something you'd see in a movie involved armed forces or people with guns going through a dangerous, abandoned or infested area, depending on your preference of movie.
They soon reached a nearby car, and Destroyer opened up the driver and front passenger doors one-after-the-other as both Jessica and Cassie stood nervously by the front of the car.
Destroyer soon looked over at the two and threw both of his Universal Championships in the back seat before speaking to Billie and Peyton...and no doubt none of the WWE Universe or those watching were expecting what he was going to say next, especially some calmly as he was about to say it...well, maybe some but not many.
"Get in the car, and go before they come after you. Do not stop driving until you are out of harms way, and under no circumstances do you come back, got it?"
The way that Michael said his words made it difficult for people to figure out if he was either still being in character, or if he was being completely serious with what he said - managing to blur the lines between what is reality and kayfabe with such simplicity that it was, in this case, rather concerning.
"No way! We go together!" Billie tried to protest - not even 100% sure herself if she was speaking in kayfabe or not - but "The King of Destruction" held his hand up to silence the argument, placing a hand on their shoulders gently.
"Billie, Peyton, just go. I can handle myself just fine." He moved away from the doors of the car, and indicated with a hand for them to get in - glancing at the doors just in case, as he knew that they would get to their location sooner or later.
Eventually, and rather reluctantly as well, they began getting into the car, with Peyton soon saying to 'The King of Destruction': "You'd better kick ass, or your in trouble." Michael rolled his eyes a bit, but smirked a bit at Peyton's version of saying 'Be safe' to him - Peyton's, not Cassie's, there is a difference.
When they both got in the car, they began to drive off and out of sight of the venue...and then, The Undisputed Era burst outside at the point and jumped Destroyer from behind!
It was essentially a sneak attack, and 4-on-1 advantages for The Undisputed Era as the camera fell to the ground like something from a horror movie...and the last thing the fans saw of anyone after the camera fell was Undisputed Era walking away like they'd just committed a mugging or a murder...and "The King of Destruction" was nowhere in sight....
Later In The Show:
NXT pretty much ransacked and put Smackdown on notice with their invasion: from the attack on Destroyer after Billie and Petyon had left in his surprising show of care over his allies - something that even his New Japan or Ring of Honor fans didn't get to see much during his partnerships with L.I.J. or The Briscoe Brothers...well, not much in the case of the former of the two - to Shayna Bazler attacking new Smackdown Women's Champion, Bayley, and both Daniel Bryan and Adam Cole facing each other for the NXT Championship.
Not sure what was the actual reason was for Cole and Bryan facing each other for the NXT Championship, but the fans weren't against it. Hell, it's Daniel Bryan vs. Adam Cole: most people would probably sell their house to see that match once in their lifetime - let alone for a title - and Smackdown had pretty much given the title match away for free!
As Triple H and NXT made their declaration of war after Adam Cole's NXT Championship title defence in the main event of Smackdown in a pretty damn good match: the lights suddenly went out - much to the confusion of some in the ring, but also much to the concern of others like Hunter and The Undisputed Era!
And then...
https://youtu.be/vbUJ6_JTA4E
The fog immediately rolled in as Undisputed Era's Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish ran out of the ring up the ramp as a very pissed off "King of Destruction" came out to the arena - his forehead busted open with a trail of blood down it, which only added to how pissed off "The King of Destruction" was.
As O'Reilly and Fish made their way up to attack "The King of Destruction": Destroyer went chair crazy as he rammed the chair into the stomachs the NXT Tag Team Champions, and then smacked them over the backs with the chair - the force of chair shot being so fierce that the smack sounded almost like a gunshot going off - before making his way straight to the ring as Cole and Roderick Strong tried to bait him in!
Once he got in the ring: Cole and Strong immediately begin to gang up on Destroyer...only for him to shove them off immediately before taking them both down with a 'Double Spear' before attempting to lay into them with with punches...before, of all people, Destroyer was dragged off of them and put into a certain submission finisher of Shayna Baszler: the "Kirifuda Clutch"!
Now, Baszler knew that Destroyer would probably be able to fight out of it at somehow given time, but fortunately for NXT he wasn't given that chance as she immediately threw he up to be met by a "Superkick" by Adam Cole, who had gotten back up alongside Roderick Strong!
Cole then attempted to go for the "Last Shot"...only to be caught by Destroyer as he lifted him over his shoulders and attempted to go for the "Death-5", which Cole was able to get out of with help from the rest of the Undisputed Era before all 4 left the ring immediately before "The King of Destruction" could go after them - all giving cocky smirks whilst tapping the top of their heads in an equally cocky way, whilst a pissed off and bloodied "King of Destruction" threw a Steel Chair across the ring as he glared the biggest death glare he could muster at Undisputed Era!
NXT had not only started a war with Smackdown and, by extension, Raw: but they had also just made the mistake of bloodying and pissing off a very dangerous Universal Champion....
What could happen next? Only time will tell....
Author's Side-Note: This isn't the best chapter I've done, I know that, and I realise that it might not completely do Destroyer's character much good - you might think differently, but I'm just concerned that I've done him a disservice here - but hopefully the the future chapters do a better job, and hopefully you enjoyed the chapter in some way.
Anyway, I hope you are all doing well, are all staying safe, and all have an amazing day!
