eight.
"I heard Xiao and the boys are playing at Taeil hyung's pub later tonight," Donghyuck announced as he sat next to Mark at lunch. He hasn't seen Renjun or Jeno for three days and it was boring, to say the least. He doesn't want to bother Renjun since they aren't exactly "friends" and Jeno has been out of sight even when he tried looking for him.
"You mean Xiao and Jeno?" Jaemin perked up. Gaining his last coffee-acquired energy—he saw Donghyuck rolling his eyes and Mark giggling at his reaction.
"You only light up when it's Jeno, huh?" Donghyuck asked and Mark agreed.
"Now it's also Renjun," the oldest added.
"Renjun? Why Renjun?" Jaemin curiously asked.
"I don't know, you ask us" Donghyuck sarcastically replied and Jaemin made a face.
"By the way, would you wanna have some coffee with Renjun? He kinda likes you," Jaemin said, looking at the tanned male.
Donghyuck immediately smiled while the oldest' face scrunched up, "Sure! He's sooo cute, give me his number!" He jumped on his seat excitedly.
"I'll forward you his number, now tell me about the gig tonight," Jaemin signaled Donghyuck to talk and so he did. Mark then grumpily excused himself, earning a confused look from Donghyuck.
"What is wrong with him?" He asked Jaemin who is shaking his head.
"Beats me," he shrugged, laughing a bit.
He happened to catch Renjun when he went to the library to get some book reference for his paper tomorrow, the shorter male was carrying a lot of books. Jaemin smiled as he shook his head, "Hey, middle schooler, I don't think you're allowed in here," he teased.
"Shut the fuck up, Jaemin Na." He grumpily replied.
Jaemin laughed before taking the books from Renjun, "Oh, is Mr. Eric your professor? We happen to have this same topic for our paper due this Wednesday." He asked.
"Yeah, and he's being a pain in the ass." The shorter male complained and Jaemin couldn't agree more. Their professor has been making them site books that are available in the library with the citations he came up with himself. "We could do it together, I was supposed to borrow this book too," he suggested and he saw how the smaller male's eyes lit up.
Jaemin giggled, cute. Renjun's face scrunched up, "It means I have to spend time with you, right?" He asked, sounding like he doesn't like the idea at all.
"Come on, I get As on my essays. I'm a pro at this." He said, flexing his biceps even though it doesn't have anything to do with the topic.
Renjun rolled his eyes, chuckling. "Whatever," he surrendered.
"By the way, do you wanna go to the pub tonight? Jeno's playing." Jaemin informed, suddenly excited by the thought of seeing the love of his life.
Renjun's expression faltered, but it changed so fast that Jaemin wasn't able to see it, and so he smiled. "Sure! Treat me some cocktails while you're at it,"
"You're such an opportunist, Huang," Jaemin rolled his eyes.
"I learned from the best, Na." He winked.

"So this is the pub you were talking about," Renjun stated, approaching the taller male while holding a drink. Jaemin gave him a nod while smiling, he was dressed differently today, Jeno was the one who liked the leather jackets but he got used to it when they were dating.
"Yeah, Jeno played in here a few times before. He's the guitarist but I've heard him sing once and that wasn't even intentional! I don't know why he doesn't want me to hear it, he sounds so good," Jaemin giggled at the memory. He caught Jeno singing while he was waiting for him and he got so shy when he got caught. That was the first and last time he heard him sing.
"Mic test, mic test. Jeno—our guitarist will be performing for tonight's last song. I hope you enjoyed this night loves! We'll see you again soon!" His roommate, Xiaojun, said. Jaemin heard him talk but Renjun was asking him about the drinks they should order so he wasn't able comprehend what it was about.
When you were here before
Couldn't look you in the eye
You're just like an angel
Your skin makes me cry
Jaemin knew that voice. That exact song. His smile disappeared. His focus went on the small stage in front. If his eyes aren't betraying him, Jeno was looking at him. Was that for me? He wanted to ask. He couldn't breathe properly, he just—can't. The pain, the guilt and the regret are all coming back at him. The things they could've had.
Take me back. He wanted to say, but there's only lump on his throat and his lungs felt so heavy that he couldn't breathe.
The people are right, he doesn't deserve him.
He doesn't deserve Jeno, but he wants, and wants.

The song was Creep by Radiohead!
