Imagine person A of your OTP has committed a horrible murder, but they play innocent. Person B is convinced A would never hurt another soul, and does everything they can to protect A. B is successful, and the two are free to enjoy their life. Person A is guilt-stricken years later, and decides to tell B the truth.
