Dan didn't want to make the call. But, he was the boss of this establishment.
It was horrible, what happened. True, this restaurant chain had never had the greatest reputation, but it was still terrible.
At least there weren't many kids around when it happened, so it was easy to shoo them out of the restaurant. Praise some God that this happened before school ended.
Well, partly praise.
Dan watched the police scour around his restaurant, asking other employee's questions. He returned his gaze to the 'Hide-and-Seek' Game entrance. Pulling out his phone, he dialed in Toby's emergency contact info.
"Mr. Billings?"

Connor, upon answering his dad's call, hadn't gotten much information. And it made him a bit nervous, to be honest.
Just a little bit.
His dad sounded... odd. Like something really bad had happened. But, like with mom, he didn't say what happened. But, he did do what his dad asked.
Driving down to Freddy Fazbear's Pizzaria, his mind wandered a bit. Toby probably just did something stupid. Dad did mention that a police officer talked to Toby at the house a bit ago, so maybe he just did something stupid with the law. Broke something, shoplifted, something.
Connor tried to convince himself of this and almost did until he pulled into Freddy's parking lot.
'That's too many cops.'
Was his first thought. That was too many cops for something like shoplifting.
Parking as close as he could, Connor exited the car. A policewoman with dark brown hair glanced over at him. "Place's closed, kid." She informed matter-of-factly, hand on her hips. "No- I know, I mean." He actually hadn't known until now but managed a confident look, anyway. "I'm Connor Billings? My father should be here."
The policewoman's hard expression softened a little bit. "I see. He's inside by that new uh... game." She moved away from the entrance, letting him pass. Connor nodded, his eyebrows furrowing slightly. He didn't say anything, but as he pushed open the glass doors, he heard the woman mutter a short, "Sorry."
If he wasn't very nervous before, he sure as hell was now.

Connor saw his dad right where the cop said he would be. And upon seeing his son, he turned away from the game. "Connor, you're here." He exclaimed. He didn't sound happy about it, though. More... concerned, even though he had called him here.
"Look, Connor..." He started, glancing quickly to the entrance to the new game. "I..." His adam's apple bobbed, his father glancing away again.
Connor didn't wait for him to finish. His father was never that good at explaining. Turning to the game's entrance, he looked up at the cutesy sign. Bonnie leaned against the game's title, a big smile on his face. This was the game Toby had mentioned.
Just from peeking inside, he saw more cops, and police tape set up around something.
Connor felt a pang of anxiety in his gut. Or was that fear?
Either way, Connor shook his head and walked inside.
And there was Toby.
Toby was in the middle of the police tape, his body skewered by two large, sharp, metal poles. Blood was stained all over his shirt, half of it a dried dark crimson, some of it still bright.
Connor felt his stomach roil. He couldn't look away.
That was Toby. And he was dead.
Someone grabbed his shoulders and pulled him away. He let them. He didn't think he'd be able to move after what he saw.

Connor, upon reaching home, didn't say a word. His dad would be home soon, he stayed behind to ask more questions.
Connor didn't want to stay.
But what he saw stuck with him.
Connor couldn't get the image out of his head. His brother's pale body, soaked in blood. However, as disturbing as that part was, there were two things at the scene that shook him more.
His brother's face was one of them. Connor thought it would be distraught, afraid, even in pain, but it was none of those. It was smiling. Toby was smiling. And if that wasn't bad enough, the screen above him read something else.
'1st Place: Toby- //://'
But unlike the scores beneath, it showed no time.
Connor hadn't gotten any real explanation for why his brother was where he was now, but from everything he'd noticed about Toby before all of this, he pieced a few things together. Toby had been obsessed with beating him and mentioned this game. But Connor said he didn't care. So why was Toby there? Surely he didn't do that to himself, right? Connor could maybe understand the paleness and how he hadn't eaten much before, but what caused Toby to go this far? Winning couldn't have been that much of a priority, right?
Connor shook his head. Right. Surely.

A few days had passed. Connor still didn't feel all that great, but he had to work. So, reluctantly, he had peeled himself out of bed and got ready for work.
He absent-mindedly grabbed a banana from the counter on the way out, saying nothing. His dad was still asleep, anyway.
Connor locked the door behind him, turning to the driveway. He stopped upon seeing a head of curly red hair. The kid it belonged to turned to face him. "Oh, hey Connor."
Connor blinked. Did he know this kid? "Look, I'm not in the mood for-" Connor was going to say jokes, but was interrupted. "I was a friend of Toby's." He explained, taking a sip out of some soft drink he was holding. He didn't have a backpack on. Where was this kid headed? Was he looking for Toby? He looked a bit young, though.
Connor thought a moment. "I'm not sure if you heard, but-" "I heard. Tragedy, y'know. I didn't expect him to do that." The red-head spoke, looking off to the side. Connor furrowed his brows, frowning. "What?"
"Oh, I'm Reggie, by the way." He spoke, nonchalantly. That pissed Connor off. How could this kid just be so chill about this? "Hey, kid, if this is some joke, it's not funny-" Again Connor was cut off, this time by Reggie taking a loud slurp from his drink. Reggie looked back to Connor. Taking the straw away from his mouth, he spoke again. "I'm not joking."
Reggie took another loud slurp before speaking again. Connor remained silent. "At least he beat it, though." Reggie shook his head. "It had been shadowing-" Reggie stopped, letting out a silent 'huh', before continuing. "...him for a while, y'know?" Reggie blinked, looking to Connor for a response.
"What?" Connor was starting to get annoyed. First, this kid shows up out of the blue, claims he knows something about Toby, and then just gets all vague? What was up with this kid?
Reggie blinked again. "Oh. He did say you guys couldn't see it." Reggie shrugged, swishing his soft drink cup around in his hand. "A shadow. Bonnie, actually. A... shadow Bonnie I suppose you'd call it."
Connor was the one who blinked now. Was this kid serious? Connor was about to call him out on this when something came to mind. Toby had said something about his shadow awhile back, hadn't he? Not to mention Connor noticed he had covered his mirror in his room.
"Well, at least the shadow's gone now. He really did win." Reggie looked off again, taking another loud sip from his drink. "See ya."
With that, Reggie walked away, continuing to swish around his soft drink cup.
Connor watched him leave, his mouth dry. What was that?
He shook his head, looking to his car as he walked over to it. That kid had to be joking. There was no way a shadow bunny was following him around like that, and there was no way it could have drove Toby to... you know.
Connor opened his car door and sat inside, shutting the door behind him. He gripped the steering wheel tight, his gaze trained forward.
'1st Place: Toby- //://'
His mind echoed. Connor buckled his seatbelt. That was ridiculous. There was no way he was right.
Looking forward again, he saw his reflection in his car's front window. No way.
...Right?
(I hope you enjoyed it! This is my first time writing something like this, so take it with a grain of salt I guess. But I really do hope you enjoyed it! Have a wonderful day/night!)
