Why couldn't you sleep? This was the first time you've had your bed to yourself in a while and yet... You sigh turning over again to look at the clock. An hour until you had to get up for school. It would be pointless to fall asleep now. You get up and get ready before turning off your alarm clock and heading to the kitchen. You open the fridge finding all the snacks gone except for a few of your favorites.

It was like Kid was never there, but you knew his presence was missing. You grab one of the snacks and start your phone to check if you had any messages. Only the one from Law telling you to have a good night. You sigh again and message him, asking him how training was. A few moments later he calls.

"Morning Law, how's your morning so far?" You ask when you answer.

"It's fine... What are you doing up already? Something wrong?" He inquires.

"I never went to sleep, I tried but...." You frown looking around.

"Was it Kid?"

"No, I think he's staying with Killer now." You respond.

"You don't sound that relieved."

"I... Guess I got used to him being here..."

"Well I'll be over soon and then we can go to school together."

"Alright, see you later."

He shows up twenty minutes later and you both start to school. Something still nagged at you. "You want to tell me something?" Law asks with a head tilt when you glance at him again.

"Kid told me a story yesterday... It keeps coming back and it... It really bothers me." You admit looking down. Law blinks and puts his arm around your shoulders.

"Tell me the story." He says softly.

"There was once a man whom claimed to love a woman. He was always so sweet to her, holding her hand, kissing her without shame. Then one day a monster came to kill them. They fled together but when the man realized he couldn't escape, he tripped the woman and left her to be killed by the monster. Sacrificing her for his life that shouldn't have mattered without her." You recall easily. Every word had stuck, even the small part when Kid admitted to being the monster.

"That's a sad story.... No wonder it bothered you... Being betrayed by someone that had claimed to love you.... I can't imagine why someone would do that.." He frowns looking down as well before looking at you. "If she had had a best friend I think they would've beat everyone's ass." He nudges you, making you giggle.

"Yeah, I believe that." You relax hugging him. He rubs your back as you both reach the school.

"I hope you have a good day at least." He breathes.

"Right back at you..."

"Hey." Kid greets at the door to your first class. "You look exhausted, what time did you go to bed last night?" He tilts his head curious.

"I didn't..." You murmur, shoulders drooping slightly.

"Really? Why not? I thought you'd be happy to have your bed back." He comments, making you look at him. You didn't know how to respond so you brush past him, checking the overhead to see where your seat was. You pause seeing your partner's name.

"Kid, We sit together," You tell him sitting down.

"I know, that's why I was waiting for ya." He rumbles sitting beside you. He seemed to be in a better mood than when you last saw him, and you were grateful. Class soon began and you were trying to pay attention but...

Kid pauses when your head finds his shoulder. He glances over in surprise to find you fast asleep. He could feel gazes already on both of you, but doesn't do anything as you cuddle up to him. He felt a chuckle build up in his chest and smiles a bit before relaxing and paying attention.

After class Kid wasn't sure what to do with you as everyone files out. "Hey... Wake up," He breathes nudging you. No response, you were completely out. Kid sighs quietly before picking you up and carrying you out. He glances around before slipping into a closet and teleporting you home. He lays you down gathering the covers over you.

His tail fishes out your journal and he reads through it before frowning. "Its only the first day, How bad could it be if she misses it?" He mutters to himself. "I shouldn't be bothering with this human. I should just leave her and go..." He states, his ear twitches when he hears his name leave your lips as you turn over, hand absently feels for his warmth. He looks back at you and his shoulders droop.

"Fuck it." He sighs crawling into bed next to you, smiling when you instantly cuddle up to him. "Poor little human..."

You hum starting to wake before jolting upright in alarm. "I fell asleep?!" You gasp.

"Yep, I couldn't wake you up so I brought you home." Kid hums, arms folded under his head next to you. You blink and look down at him before checking the clock.

"My first day of school..." You murmur finding that it was an hour after school.

"Yep, which means you should get some sleep tonight or you'll miss tomorrow too," He says getting up. You look at him as he pauses and sits back beside you. "Oh yeah, I got a phone now so, let's exchange numbers," He hands you a new model phone."

"Wow..." You mutter putting in the numbers.

"And uh, don't worry about the missed work. I got you covered." He says nodding to the papers on your desk.

"Thanks... I thought you didn't want to be around me anymore..." You comment, a bit surprised by his thoughtfulness.

"Don't mention it... I'm going now," He says checking your contact.

"Kay, see you." You offer a small smile. He smiles back and disappears. Your shoulders slump and you look around feeling lost again. Your phone dings and you check the message from Kid.

You smile a bit and giggle. "Take a shower, you stink." You mutter texting back.

You snort a laugh, covering your mouth. "Pervert no." You shoot back. Your doorbell rings and you go to answer.

<i>Come on it'll be fun! </i>

You giggle at the text before opening the door to find Law. "Hey Law what's up?"

"Where did you go? I haven't seen you since this morning, are you okay?" He touches your cheek worried.

"I'm fine, apparently I completely passed out in first period and Kid brought me home. I just woke up actually," You tell him. He relaxes and hugs you.

"Good.... I didn't see him all day either, was he with you?" He inquires.

"Yeah I guess he was." You shrug stretching. Law frowns briefly.

"Is he still here or back at Killer's?"

"He went back to Killer's.... Are you okay?"

"Yeah... Suppose I'm a bit jealous of him." He admits.

"Uh oh... Are saints able to say such things?" You tease nudging him. He chuckles and hugs you close.

"That's our little secret." He breathes, giving you a devilish smirk.

"You're a horrible priest." You giggle.

"Shhh, I can still save your soul." He kisses your cheek.

"Hehe, I think someone already did."

Day two of school begin. You had a few classes with the trouble making demon, so you were always entertained. He would make things disappear and appear around the teachers making them occasionally double take or mutter under their breath. Or he would do it to you, chuckling all the while.

"You're the worst." You shake your head.

"As a demon, I take that as a compliment." He winks at you.

"Eustass, ____. Do you two have something to share with the class?" Mr. Spandam questions obnoxiously.

"Hm?" Kid raises an eyebrow at him before tossing you a smirk. Oh Lord... "Yeah I was just saying to my neighbor that your face reminds me of an elephant hemorrhoid." The whole class froze before laughter erupts, echoing the room and halls. Spandams face became purple with rage. You giggle looking at the demon to find him grinning proudly that his joke made a class of humans laugh. You felt some pride for him too.

"Both of you get the hell out!!" Spandam shrieks and you pause.

"Excuse me? Why am I being sent out?" You ask confused.

"Because you're with that freak!" He snaps. Kid's smile falls at that, tick mark building on his cheek, but before he can do anything you're suddenly out of your chair.

"Watch your fucking mouth you bloody pile of shit. It's not his fault you can't handle the truth. Do you still cry because your mama couldn't look at her ugly ass child?" You sneer back, lip curling. The whole class was stunned for a moment before erupting into laughter again. Spandam shakily points to the door in response so you head out with Kid following behind swiftly.

You stop half way down the hall as you return to your senses. What the hell did you just say? Kid suddenly picks you up twirling about with you as he cackles. "That was so vicious! Awesome!!" He chuckles hugging your stomach before putting you down and pulling away with a grin. "I underestimated you little human!" He pats your head.

"I'm going to in so much trouble..."

"Come on! Lunch will be starting soon!"

However, lunch didn't end as well... You sat with Luffy, Nami, Law, and Robin, eating lunch. "You and that new guy are pretty close huh?" Nami comments. You look at her confused. "I was in Spandam's class... I've never seen you get like that before. You're always so quiet and reserved." She points out. Law stops, raising an eyebrow.

"Wait... You mean you were the one that insulted Spandam?" He says in surprise. You shift and look down.

"I don't know what came over me..." You sigh.

"Wow... That really isn't like you, You never even hold up your hand to ask questions..." He murmurs, still in shock. "Who was the guy?"

"It was him right?" Luffy points and you all look to see Kid facing off with Zoro.

"Looks like Zoro's about to kick his ass." Nami comments. You pale swiftly running over as Zoro pulls back his fist. Kid smiles rather dangerously watching him. Zoro swings but you were suddenly there, pushing Kid back as Zoro's fist connects to your cheek. Your teeth cut into your cheek and you instantly taste blood.

Kid and Zoro freeze, eyes widening. "___...." Zoro breathes in shock. You spit out some blood.

"I'm okay... Don't fight please..." You manage holding your cheek, looking at Kid pleading. He shifts meeting your gaze before scoffing and walking away. You relax and your friends rush over scolding Zoro as Law looks at your mouth.

"I'm so sorry ___..," Zoro says guilty.

"It was my fault, I didn't have a plan to avoid that." You wave it off.

"Come on let's get you to the clinic." Law says pulling you along. You follow along, Law was obviously tense. Only speaking when you were both alone. "What's gotten into you? Why did you jump in like that?" He asks softly.

"Because.... There's no way Zoro could've won that fight..." You murmur. He looks at you before kissing your other cheek.

"Don't get hurt anymore like that... You're starting to scare me..."

Yeah, you and me both....
