POV Zhan (A/N: a little glimpse into the life of Zhan).

Zhan and Cheng were sitting in the bug-proof room at their unit's secret base waiting for their boss, Captain Chu Luong. It's Monday morning and by now they should have been in training at the Keno Academy keeping an eye on their target, but their boss called them into their base of operations for an urgent meeting.

Without bothering with pleasantries, the boss came into the room, stood in front of the large monitor that was mounted on the wall and was more like a large screen, and asked, "Which of you can remember the name Lan Qiren?"

Zhan raised his arm, "Lan Qiren or more commonly known as Chameleon, worked for 40 years as a secret agent and spy for a secret special government unit. All of his missions were successful. He got his nickname because he was so changeable and was never exposed in all those years. Very few even know what he really looks like. There was no picture of him in our textbooks. There was only a question pointing to his appearance." He explained.

"That's right Agent Xiao. What else do you know about him?" The boss wanted to know.

Cheng spoke up. "Well, he retired about 10 years ago. Not much else is really known about him."

"That's right Agent Xiao 2."

"Boss? Could you please not call me Xiao 2 all the time?" Cheng wanted to know annoyed.

"No. You're the younger one. So you're Xiao 2."

"Great."

"Enough of that! We have more important things to discuss than your name."

"Yes sir."

"So, the reason I asked you is because I got a call from the high command this morning and was told that Lan Qiren is back on duty. He and his unit will be assisting you guys on the ground. They will be working as guards there."

"Wait a minute. That means we are now working not only with the Special Victims Unit and the DEA, but also with this secret organization?" Asked another agent.

"Yes."

"Why? Do they think we can't handle it?" Asked the same agent.

"No one has said that. It's probably more of a personal interest of Lan Qiren's. His nephew is going to the academy and..."

"Who is the nephew? Do we know?" Asked a female agent. She really winced as the boss looked at her angrily. "Sorry sir. I didn't mean to interrupt you."

"Then don't do it either. And yes, we know who the nephew is. I think Zhan and Cheng know him very well. The person in question is Wang Yibo. I think he went to see his uncle yesterday and asked for his help, regarding Alessia Milan. Lan Qiren is well informed about the Milan Mafia and immediately contacted his former employers and demanded that he should be reactivated in the service and that he should be deployed in the front line to protect his nephew. Agent Xiao 2, you are friends with him. Did he mention anything to you that he suspected Alessia? Or did he talk about his uncle at any point?"

"No sir. Nothing like that. He and Alessia hate each other. From the beginning, all they ever did was fight." Explained Cheng.

"And why? Do you know?"

"Well, I think because of Zhan." Said Cheng, turning all red.

"Agent Xiao? What does that mean?"

"Alessia is a very jealous person and wants unlimited attention from me. Which is why she tried to isolate me from all the other students from the beginning. She noticed that Yibo is interested in me because Cheng is friends with him. She didn't like that at all, so she started to provoke him all the time..." Explained Zhan.

"Wait a minute. He's interested in you because of Cheng? I think you mean he's more into you!"

"Sir I..."

"Agent Xiao. You'd better tell me everything."

"Could I tell you in private?"

"Alright. Everyone get out of here, I'll call you when we're done." All the agents except Zhan and the boss, left the room. When the door was closed again, the Boss sat down next to Zhan and asked, "So, what's going on between you and Wang Yibo?"

"We, we love each other. She knows he has feelings for me."

"That means you're a couple?"

"No, not really. We only saw each other secretly and only at night. I didn't want to jeopardize the mission or put Yibo in danger. Unfortunately, though, I always had to lie about it, and of course he noticed. He broke up with me yesterday morning. He doesn't even know my real age."

"Mhhh... if she knows he loves you, then he could really be in danger."

"Yeah I know."

"Why didn't you let me in on it sooner?"

"Because I was afraid you would pull me off the case. I fought against my feelings for Yibo for a long time and tried to hold back. But sir, Yibo is just so wonderful, sweet and kind, that at some point I couldn't take it anymore. And I was afraid if you found out that you would pull me off the case and then I wouldn't be able to see him and protect him. I love him and I want to protect him. I don't want to lose him."

"Zhan, I understand what you're saying. I really do. But you should have told me. You know the rules."

"I know. I'm sorry."

"I'm going to keep this to myself. I can't and won't take you off the case now. We've been working on this for so long and I don't want to have to start all over again."

"Thank you sir."

"However, I want to talk to Wang Yibo. We need to bring him in on this."

"I don't know if he'll listen to me again. Because of all the lies and secrets, he broke up with me and doesn't want to talk to me anymore. He even moved out of our room."

"Well, then we'll make sure you guys have to talk. I'm going to call the director and ask him to undo the room switch."

"I don't think that would be a good idea sir. Alessia noticed that Yibo was avoiding me. She wanted to know from me if something had happened. I told her that I had a fight with him over her and that he is mad at me because I always stand by her. She is very happy about that. She trusts me even more now than before. But now, when I talk to Yibo, then..."

"Mhhh, I understand. Then Cheng will have to take over and bring him here."

"Yibo doesn't talk to Cheng anymore either. He doesn't even talk to his other friends anymore."

"That might be what his uncle advised him to do. But somehow we have to get him here."

"How about a staged kidnapping? We induct his uncle and..."

"That's not such a bad idea. I'll get in touch with his boss and work it out."

"Good."

"All right. We'll sort out everything else when we get him here. You should go back with Cheng now before Alessia gets suspicious."

"All right sir. Oh yes, at breakfast she told me that her parents might be coming here for a week at the end of the month."

"Good to know. Well then, carry on."

"Yes sir." Replied Zhan and left the room. He made his way back to the academy with Cheng.

While they were on their way back, Cheng asked, "Why do you think Yibo contacted his uncle and asked for help?"

"Because he's smart. He probably caught on to what we were doing, but he was still missing individual pieces of the puzzle to see the whole picture. I assume that's why he asked his uncle to help him." Explained Zhan.

"It sounds like you're proud of him."

"I am."

"Okay. Um, how are you actually doing now with the breakup?"

"How do you think I'm doing? Bad."

"I'm sorry to hear that."

"Don't worry. I'll get him back. I'm not giving him up. He belongs to me, and when we finish the mission, I'll win Yibo back. Then there will finally be an end to lies and secrets. You'll see. And the boss is in on it too. He doesn't mind a relationship between Yibo and me."

"I hope for your sake that you achieve your goal."

"I hope so too." Said Zhan. When they reached the campus, Zhan went to practice. Later, when Zhan was back in his room and alone, he took the picture of Yibo out of its hiding place and looked at it lovingly. He had taken the picture that night when they had their first date. An evening he will never forget.

He became quite sad as he looked at the picture and wondered if Yibo would ever forgive him. And he could hardly believe that he would ever ask himself this question. Because for him, there was really only ever one thing. He wanted to become a secret agent and go on undercover missions to rid the world of all evil. About love, he had never thought.

Ever since the age of 12, when he learned that his biological parents were also agents and his adoptive parents are agents, Zhan had wanted to become like them. Just like Cheng. Therefore, the two did everything they could to make their dream come true. At the age of 14, the two dropped out of regular school and transferred to the military academy.

It didn't take long for Zhan and Cheng to stand out with their outstanding accomplishments. And after only two years at the military academy, an agent scout approached them and offered them agent training. Once again, the two changed schools and were trained as agents from the age of 16.

After four years of training, the two had finally made it. They were agents and were put into a unit where young agents like them, who are very young and good-looking, are deployed undercover at schools or universities. Even their first mission together had been a complete success. They uncovered a drug ring at a university in just two months.

Their second mission was also a success. They worked undercover at a school. In addition to a drug problem, they had to solve two murders of students. To be able to do that, they had to manage to get into a closed group of popular students and take them apart from the inside. It took them about 5 months to do this.

Their third mission is the current one. According to information from several intelligence agencies, the Milan Mafia is trying to expand its business into China. While two foreign agents have been infiltrated into the mafia, Zhan and Cheng are said to be attached to Alessia Milan, the daughter of the mafia boss, and trying to get information through her.

In addition, Alessia is suspected of having committed several criminal offenses. From simple thefts at the academy, to fraud and incitement to fraud. It is also questionable how she even made it into the student selection of the Keno Academy, as she did not fulfill all the criteria that are actually necessary to even be considered to be able to study in the Keno Academy. And, although her name could not and should not have actually been in the lottery box, it was there and it was drawn. So, there is the added suspicion of bribery.

The most serious suspicion is an accusation according to which Alessia selects for her father young handsome and talented students to be kidnapped and sold. Already at her last school, several students disappeared without a trace. It is already known about the Milan Mafia that they are involved in human trafficking. But so far, no one has been able to prove it to them.

For Zhan and Cheng this is an important and big mission, which they want to complete successfully. And because it is so important to finally bust the Milan Mafia, they are working with several departments.

Zhan was really excited and looking forward to the mission. He had only one goal in mind at the beginning. To complete his mission successfully. But then something unexpected happened. Because he fell in love with Yibo at first sight. He tried to suppress his feelings. Not to lose sight of his priority, the mission.

At the beginning, when he had to assume that Yibo did not like him, it was not difficult for him to keep away from him. But the more time he had to observe Yibo, the more he talked to him and the better he got to know him, the more difficult it became for him to keep his distance from Yibo. And at one point, during a brief power outage at the community center, he just couldn't take it anymore. He just had to kiss him!

And since then, it's like he opened Pandora's box. He just couldn't hold back anymore. He just had to be with Yibo. And even though he's only 22 years old and in love for the first time, he feels like Yibo is the one. The real one! Only he and no one else can be. And he wants him back. Because the thought of living a life without Yibo is just unbearable for him.

However, Zhan is aware that it will probably not be easy. Because he has had to lie to Yibo again and again. He had to keep so many things secret from him. And he knew that with every further lie and every further secret, he pushed Yibo, who already had doubts about him and his sincerity and love anyway, further and further away from him.

And finally, Zhan's greatest fears came true. Yibo broke up with him and wants nothing more to do with him. And he has no idea how to win Yibo back. He knows he wants him back. But where should he start? And can Yibo ever trust him again? Will Yibo ever speak to him again?
