Chapter 10
"Can Mrs Hattson really get anymore boring?"
I muttered to myself. Doesn't she have anything more to talk about? Everyday she talks about the origin of poetry and some other useless stuff.
"I heard that."
Mensia said. I asked for her name a while ago and she's really sweet.
"It's the truth after all."
I said and she laughed. I looked back at Mrs Hattson who seemed to be enjoying her lesson.
"Each one of you will have to come up with your own poem within this week and you will have to recite it in front of the class. You can make up a poem about anything at all. But no offensive stuff, okay? Your poems must be ready by Monday."
Mrs Hattson said and sounds of disapproval came from the class. Some were complaining and some were happy about it. Well I don't find it bad. I think it's actually a good idea. For the first time Mrs Hattson said something interesting. The bell rang and learners hurried out of the class.
"Bye Mensia, it was good meeting you."
I said taking my bag.
"Pleasure hun'. Hope we get together some other time."
She smiled.
"We surely will."
I said and walked out of the class. I'm looking forward to the poems really. And I think I've got an idea of what I should write about.
"Alice."
A voice from behind snapped me out of my thoughts and I looked back to see who called me. He walked up to me.
"Alan?"
I questioned surprised as to why he called me. I never really talked to him when he was going out with Carol. Practically because I never liked him. And now he dumped my friend like the asshole he is.
"Can we talk?"
He asked casually leaning on the wall.
"What about Alan?"
I asked keeping my face straight.
"Carol."
He answered simply.
"You don't really think you can dump my friend for that bitch Ashley and walk up to me like we are old friends now do you?"
I said harshly.
"It's nothing like that. Plus I didn't dump her for Ashley. Ashley was just some attractive bitch who seduced me an jeah I am a dude so you must understand."
He said and I shrugged.
"I don't really care 'bout what happened back then. Fact is that you told her you lost interest in her and she's moved on so there's nothing you and I can talk about regarding her."
I said rudely and I noticed his expression change.
"Moved on? No she hadn't."
He said.
"Yes she did. Trust me' she's all over you."
I know she isn't exactly over Alan but I wouldn't tell him that.
"I actually thought you would want to get us back together or something. I guess I was wrong then."
He said and left. Why would I even want to bring them back together if I never even liked him in the first place? I walked to the cafeteria and joined the queue. I ordered a super simple braai fillet and a mannated chuck steak. I walked to our usual table in the middle of the cafeteria where Gail and Carol have already settled.
"You won't guess who I talked to a while ago."
I said the moment I sat down.
"The bad boy."
Gail said looking at me with a smile and I glared at her.
"Nope."
I said.
"Dylan."
Carol said and I glared at her. Dylan was just another asshole.
"Nope."
I said again as I started eating my food.
"Alan."
I said staring at Carol who gave me that 'what about' look.
"He wanted to talk to me about you but I gave him a piece of my mind and emphasised that you moved on. He apparently thought I would be happy to try and get you guys back together."
I explained.
"You didn't tell him about Eric did you?"
Carol asked.
"No and why are you even concerned about that?"
I replied and Carol gave out a sigh of relief.
"Jeah, why would it even matter if she told him? I mean you two are really going out and it wouldn't make a difference if Alan knew."
Gail agreed with me.
"I don't know. Just forget it okay. He can do what ever he wants for all I care."
Carol said. Ofcourse she cared. She wouldn't admit that ofcourse.

"I'm sure we can both ride in your car. I mean what's the use of riding in different cars if we are all hearding to your house?"
Austin said. He was right, we could just go with my car then he'll get someone to come get his car.
"For the first time I think you are actually right."
I said as we both got in the car.
"I'm always right babydoll."
He said and I rolled my eyes. Then I thought about my mom. What if she was in some bad state again today? What am I even saying? She's never in a good state. But I pray she's not home. If she sees me with Austin she'll just lose her mind and I wouldn't want Austin to see that. Atleast not again.
"You sure you can drive?"
He asked jokingly and I rolled my eyes.
"Better than you."
I smiled and got all the bad thoughts from my mind. I drove out of the school yard and prayed everything will be fine when I get home.
