Chapter 18

"What?"

I exclaimed getting up from the bed. I'm sure I didn't get him right. Fake girlfriend? And me?

"Listen, I'm just doing it for my mom okay? She always wanted me to settle down with someone. Everytime I brought a girl home she'd hope it would be the same one from last time but they are always different. Not like I regret it or anything, I just saw the disappointment in her eyes and I wanna make her happy."

He said and I sat back on the bed recovering from my surprise.

"I understand but why all of the sudden? And if she wants you to settle down than why don't you just get a girlfriend or something? I mean it'll be better than lieng to her about having a girlfriend when everything is fake right?"

I try to reason with him.

"We are talking about me here Ali. I don't do this dating shit so I can't get a girlfriend whatsoever. I just need you to play this fake girlfriend part for my mom. Please you have no idea how much this means to me."

He replies softly.

"Well I'm sorry but I don't think I can do this Austin. I mean you're this arrogant, self centred person who is too full of himself. I don't think I can handle that attitude of yours."

I retorted and I could feel him getting annoyed as he snorted.

"If that's the case then you should know I can't stand your annoying voice either. You think you're always right and so if there's anyone who's full of themselves here, it's you."

He fired back and I rolled my eyes.

"Don't roll your eyes."

He added and I widened my eyes. How does he even know I rolled my eyes?

"You've just described yourself Austin. And anyways if we both can't stand each other than there's no need for us to do this."

I said laying back on my bed.

"I'm willing to tolerate you for some time so can't you atleast do that for my mom? I swear if you do this I'll be intended to you for the rest of my life."

"I'm not so sure I can do this Austin. I'll be lieng to her Austin and I hate lieng."

"Ouh c'mon Ali... Hate lieng really? You can't give me that as an excuse now. And anyways it's not like you're lieng for the wrong reason. Don't you understand how much I need to do this? I wouldn't be here begging you if it wasn't essential for my mom."

He said desperately. And for a moment I felt like there was something behind this whole charade that he wants us to pull. Why is he suddenly so keen on doing this for his mom?

"Please Ali."

He begs again.

"I'll think about it."

"Alright. Thank you."

He said surprising me again. This must really be important to him if he even said thanks to me.

"Don't thank me just yet. Perhaps I won't accept."

I said.

"Well I hope you accept Ali. I just hope that you do."

He said before ending the call. Austin Robson did not just call me and beg me to be his fake girlfriend. I told myself but the little voice inside of me kept taunting me with an 'ouh yeah, he just did' .

                                     ***

"Ahhhmmm hey, is this seat taken?"

I asked the dude sitting next to an empty chair. I don't even know why I bothered to ask since we don't own chairs over here. I bet I just didn't want to be rude by just scraping the chair and sitting down.

I took one glance at him and quickly recognized him as one of Austin's buddies. This guy and Eric are like Austin's shadows or something. Best friends so to say. I know Eric because he's the most friendly one among the three. I never talked to him but I noticed that from the way he interacts with everyone, not exactly everyone but at least better than this guy and Austin.

He didn't even mind responding and neither did he glance at me so I pulled out the chair and just sat down. That's when he glared at me.

"What? I did ask if it was taken didn't I?"

I responded to his glare.

" And since you didn't respond I decided to just sit here and make small talk with you while our so called sir is coming."

I added taunting him on purpose after noticing he was totally anti-social.

"It's okay if you don't want to talk to me now, I won't leave you much of a choice later."

He decided to just ignore me and focus his attention on the books in front of him. I knew better that he wasn't even reading whatsoever, just something that'll keep him from paying attention to me I think.

Mr Polasias walked in class for his English lesson and I turned my attention to him. He just handed us our test papers in which I scored my usual eighty percent. Not bad... I glanced at the guy sitting beside me as he covered his paper with his book.

I'm assuming he got low marks that he didn't want me to see so I ended up seeing his name on the book cover instead of his marks.

"If you'd just stop scowling at your paper, maybe then you'll look a little handsome. You're scaring me right now and I swear it's not attractive."

I tried to stiffle a laugh as I said prompting him to talk. God knows what has gotten into me today. I'm literally teasing one of the bad boys in the school, Austin's friend and I'm enjoying every bit of it.

"Do you ever shut up?"

He finally answered and I beamed at him.

"Finally we're talking. I told you I wouldn't give you much of a choice."

I answered still smiling.

"And yes I do shut up, I just don't want to right now Brandon."

I said putting emphasis on his name. And he decided to give me the silent treatment again. Well I'm not having any of it.

"Ouh c'mon I'm just trying to make a convo with you and that's a big deal to you? Live a little dude."

Okay Alice. This is definitely not you speaking. What has gotten into me today?

"I'm Alice by the way."

I added.

"I don't want to be friends."

He said harshly.

"Who said anything about being friends?"

I replied in a calmer tone and he decided not to say anything else.

"Are you leaving or should I?"

He asked coldly. I swear he's the rudest of the three. Austin is way better. I chose to ignore his tone and just shrug at his statement.

"If you want to."

I replied.

"Leaving so soon sweet cheeks."

Dylan said coming in front of me to keep me from walking further. I swear I'd do anything for this nicknames to stop ringing in my head whenever I hear them.

"You just have to tolerate me for the next five years or so. I don't think I'll leave you just so soon."

He said.

"I know."

I replied dismissively and walked away. I can't stand him or his god damn voice. The school has cleared and only a few people were inside. It's a friday and everyone obviously has something planned for today.

Dylan grabbed my wrist and turned me around to face him with my back pressing on my car.

"You can't just walk away from me."

He said.

"I just did."

I retorted.

"I want you back."

It was more of an order than just a statement.

"Lemme go."

"Why should I? Huh, tell me. Why should I let you go? Are you afraid of the effect I have on you?"

He responded brushing the back of his other hand to my neck and holding my hands with one hand above me. He moved his face so close to my neck that I could feel his breath on me.

"Are you afraid of all the great sensations I make you feel?"

He asked kissing the soft spot on my neck and I almost felt breathless for a moment.

"Please just leave me alone."

I pleaded and he moved away with a smirk plastered on his lips.

"You see. That's the effect I'm talking about. You seem to forget that I know every tiny detail about you. I know your soft spots.. I know exactly where to touch you Alice. No matter how you try to deny me, I'll always be the main guy in your life. The only one you'll ever love."

He said with self pride and I felt disgusted.

"Don't be so sure Dylan because I think that has changed over a year ago. You killed that love I thought I had for you."

I don't see it as love anymore. I just don't, I think it was just an infatuation that was too intense. Or maybe I really did love him and he taught me to unlove him just the same. Because the only feeling I feel towards him is pure hatred.

"Prove me wrong."

He challenged apparently knowing I couldn't. Little did he know I was keen on proving him wrong.

I glanced at the gate for no reason specifically just to find Austin standing there. Staring at us with a blank expression and I wondered just how long he's been there for. I walked over to him and I knew Dylan was staring at me, wondering what I'd do.

As soon as I reached Austin, I encircled my arms around his neck and placed my lips full on his.
