Chapter 9
"Can you just focus for once Austin?"
I said to him and he finally looked away from his phone.
"Here I am trying to help you gain something while you're there doing God knows what."
I said totally pissed.
"Hey, don't go all Hattson on me. I was just replying a text."
He said putting away his phone. We were in my room and I've been teaching him how to solve some quadratic equations.
"Okay, now do this. Exercise one and two before we move on so I know that you fully understand."
"I understand, let's just move on."
He said in a lazy tone.
"Just do it."
I insisted and he just groaned. He started doing it anyways. I watched him as he solved the equations and smiled when he got all of them right.
My phone beeped and I stood up to go get it from the table next to the wardrobe. I unlocked it and realised it was an email. It was from my aunt, a sister to my mom. It's been long since we've been in touch. I opened the email.
Came over today, took the liquor bottles and Faith's money. I placed the money in one of the kitchen drawers. I knew she wouldn't check and I needed to make sure she couldn't buy any more alcohol. Hope everything's fine. Much love.
I froze at how the email read but quickly regained myself knowing Austin was around. So aunt Bella took the stuff. She prolly didn't find mom inside. She did it with the intention of helping her sister so I can't blame her.
"Everything fine Ali?"
Austin asked.
"Jeah."
I answered simply.
I typed a quick reply.
Everything's fine aunt. Thanks for coming around. Send my regards to Mason.
Mason is her son. He used to visit sometime but it has been long now since I've seen him.
With that I walked back to the bed. I checked his work and he did everything right.
"Great now we can move on."
I said with a smile paging through the textbook.
"You're bleeding."
Austin said and I looked at him.
"I am?"
I asked him confused.
He just held my wrist and lifted my arm so I could get to see my elbow. I was truly bleeding. I must've gotten this when mom pushed me to the edge of the bed. But I didn't even notice it when I was bathing. If it wasn't hurting before it sure is now.
"I didn't notice but it's fine. I'll just get a plasta."
I said standing up. I got the first aid and went back to sit on the bed. I took the cotton but Austin took it from me.
"I'll do it."
He said and I just kept quiet. He dipped the cotton into the antiseptic container and started to clean my wound.
"Ouuuccchhh!"
I exclaimed and he removed the cotton from the wound.
"C'mon don't be such a baby."
He said and continued cleaning the wound.
"You are only saying that because you're not the one with the wound."
I glared at him.
"Just shut up will you?"
He retorted as he placed a pasta on my wound.
"Where'd you get the wound from?"
He asked staring at me.
"Why do you ask?"
I enquired paging through the textbook.
"Can't you answer my question properly without throwing another one at me?"
He hissed and I shrugged.
"I fell down in the shower."
I bluttered out and I slapped myself mentally. Is that really all I could come up with?
"Jeah I believe that hundred percent."
He said sarcastically.
"Lemme put some knowledge into you about completing the square Mr know it all."
I said mockingly with a small smile.
"How do you do this?"
He asked with a serious face.
"Do what?"
I asked still paging through.
"Stay still with my hot body around?"
He asked and I looked at him. I doubt that's really what he wanted to ask. Unbelievable.
"Simple. I ain't a bitch and you're not really as good looking as you think you are."
I said after rolling my eyes. He laughed slightly and laid down on my bed facing the ceilings.
"If you say so. I think I've learned enough today and I've prolly seen way too much then I was intended to see."
He said with a serious face and I froze. Damn he was talking about seeing me cry and he prolly saw my mom's state when she left. Did he really have to bring it up? All of the sudden, the atmosphere in the room became so tense and I didn't even know what to say.
"I mean your legs. I'm sure you didn't think I would see them like that or did you?"
He said and I looked at him to find a cornered smile plastered on his lips. I couldn't help but smile at how he lightened up the atmosphere. I'm sure that's not what he meant but he saw how uncomfortable I got.
"Well no. I didn't know I would find you sitting all so relaxed in my sofa."
I joked and we laughed.

"Hey brat."
Ashley said as I opened my locker.
"Sup bitch."
I replied taking my poetry and chemistry books.
"I see you've been spending too much time with my guy. Not good Alice."
She said and I turned to look at her. Her black wavy hair hanging down her shoulders. She was wearing a short black and white dress and when I say short, I mean very short. Her three friends were standing behind her like some sort of bodyguards.
"I don't think I heard that right."
I said closing my locker and leaning on it.
"Yes you did. You know very well what I'm talking about Alice. Austin, he's mine and no matter how hard you try, he'll never like you."
Ashley said and I shook my head in disbelief.
"Don't think just because you're a bitch, everyone else is. Ou and jeah, maybe you should tell your guy to keep his distance, not me. After all he's the one who came to my house."
I said staring at her with a smile as she fumed.
"He wants nothing from you, you're the one who's forcing yourself on him."
She said and I gave out an exasperated laugh. What did she say? I am forcing myself on him? Gimme a break.
"Maybe so but if she considered you as his girl like you call him your guy, then I'm sure he wouldn't have come to me begging me to... You know."
I said with a smirk. She gave me that look that I so wanted to see on her face. That shocked expression that just made me smirk even more. I walked away proudly to my poetry class.
I just meant he begged me to tutor him but I'm sure she'll take it the other way around.
"Such an asshole."
I mumbled shaking my head. I walked inside the class and thank goodness the annoying Mrs Hattson was not in class yet. I scanned the class for an empty seat. I saw about three of them. One was next to Austin, the other next to Eric and the other next to this other girl I don't know. I walked up to where the girl was and I sat there.
"Hello."
I greeted politely.
"Hey Alice."
She responded with a smile. How did she even know my name?
"Don't give me that look. The whole school surely knows the lucky girl right."
She said and I gave her a confused look.
"What do you mean?"
I asked.
"Austin's girlfriend. You sure are lucky to have the hottest guy in school although I wonder how Ashley is taking this."
The girl said and I looked at her. Is that what everyone thinks? That I'm Austin's girlfriend?
"You mistaken hun'. I ain't his girlfriend. Not my type."
I said smiling and she gave me a shocked expression. What now? Can't someone deny being Austin Robson's girlfriend?
