"Are you a mad girl?" Tomiwa leaned into her swivel chair, throwing her head back in laughter. "So this is how you've been disgracing me?"

Another Monday to be busy with work. But Tife wouldn't let her be. When she attempted to end the call just like she had been doing, she found Tife at the reception of her office thirty minutes later. And Tife wouldn't stop talking about her encounter with a certain Femi within the just concluded weekend.

"It's not disgrace now. I was just trying to get his attention."

Tomiwa tried so hard to suppress the laughter but it came out with an explosive sound with each attempt.

Is your name Femi cos you've given me the Femi syndrome?

"Ire, you're not helping."

What the fuck?!

"Tife, you're a clown, you could have thought of something better."

"I just wanted to copy one of those cheesy lines of yours. You always use them and they work for you every time."

"At least mine are cheesy. Yours are traumatising. Jeez! I can't believe what the poor guy must be going through."

A knock was heard on her office door and her secretary popped in after the second knock.

"Sorry ma'am. The meeting with your father is in five minutes."

Tomiwa sighed. Deep down, she wished she could run away from her reality just for a moment. After the meeting today, she would probably be getting married to the disaster of her life. "It's okay. Please gather the contract files. I'll pick them up on my way out."

"Okay ma'am." She pulled the door open and stepped back out.

Tomiwa stood up and adjusted the blue bodycon designer's gown she was putting on. "Make yourself comfortable, bestie," She said before turning to leave.

"As you're signing that marriage contract, have it at the back of your mind that I am the ONLY candidate for the position of your maid of honour."

She turned to look at Tife like she had grown two heads. "Sorry I don't accept girls with Femi syndrome on my train." She concluded and banged the door. Tife laughed at her childishness.

"Stupid girl."

When Tomiwa got to her father's office, he had a visitor so she had to wait in the reception. She made herself comfortable on one of the chairs, going through hilarious WhatsApp status memes and videos.

She suddenly felt conscious of herself. A pair of eyes had been staring at her all the while she had been seated there. She raised her head and their eyes met.

He smiled.

Tomiwa almost smiled back. She had never thought a guy without beards would be this- she wouldn't use the word handsome on beardless guys- fine. But she wasn't so interested so she returned her attention back to her phone.

"It seems you have a lot of interesting things on your phone." She was quite startled. She didn't even notice he had switched seats to the one beside her. She hated guys that were too forward. And most of them she had encountered were beardless or had scanty beards with tiny legs. Courtesy demands that he takes permission before sitting beside her. And his voice was... normal. Nothing sexy.

He wasn't worth her reply.

"You're beautiful, Iretomiwa. Very beautiful, I must confess."

"And you're a joker." She snapped. She paused, trying to calm herself down. "Can you just leave me alone, please?"

He made to leave but whimpered abruptly with his hands on his knees. "Ouch!" Tomiwa cocked her eyebrows towards him.

"You dropped some powerful words just now, and I tripped on them and fell hard for you," he said, tilting his head to the side.

Tomiwa rolled her eyes and he responded with a cheeky grin. That was the moment he saw it. The smile that always made his knees weak.

Damn!

It was pristine. He found himself getting attracted to her all over again. His trance came to an end when he noticed he was not the reason she was smiling. He turned to look at who managed to get the lady's attention.

Tobenna Chukwudozie.

Who wouldn't recognize the most respected Executive director in the cosmetic industry?

"Hi," she waved in excitement but the look of disapprobation on his face was enough to wipe off the smile from her face.

"I think you should be in the office right now and not sitting there wasting your fucking life away!" She frowned. How could he speak to her that way after fucking her brains off some weeks ago?

He turned to the beardless dude sitting beside her. "I think you should go get your father. We should get this meeting over with or don't you think so Femi Coker?"

Tomiwa was puzzled. Why was the guy she met at the club talking about the merger meeting? And the guy beside her was her supposed husband? How come she didn't recognize him?

She whipped her head to face him, "You are Femi Coker?"

He really didn't want to reply to her because he was presently vexed by Tobenna's statement but he just couldn't bear ignoring her. He stood up before muttering an answer, "I think you know the answer to that."

Tomiwa now understood why she hated him. He was rude. Okay, Tobe was worse but it didn't matter. She hated him.

With a heavy heat, She stepped into her father's office after two successive knocks. The tension in the air was palpable and her jelly legs almost carried her back to where she was coming from.

She was scared for her life and her future.

There was another man seated beside Tobe on one of the sofas. The striking resemblance in height and facial appearance between them couldn't be missed. The man was obviously Tobe's father. And the energy both of them exuded was deadly.

What the hell is going on?

She took a seat on the armchair opposite her father. Femi and his dad came in straightaway. The smile on Mr. Coker's face turned into a frown immediately his eyes met Tobe's father's deadly ones.

"Williams, what's going on here?" He hollered, refusing to take a seat on the sofa opposite the father and son duo. Femi already made himself comfortable in it.

Talk about loyalty.

"Mr. Coker, please have a seat and stop raising your voice here. This is an office!" Tobe's father retorted.

Mr. Coker opened his mouth to reply to him but Mr Williams was quick to intervene. "Mr Coker, please have a seat. You'll know everything once we get the meeting rolling."

Mr Coker gave Tobe and his father one last look before taking a seat beside his son.

Mr Williams' secretary stood behind him with a jotter and pen ready to take the minutes of the meeting.

"I assume we all know why we're here. And if you still feel you don't, I'll do the honours of telling you." Mr Williams started. "We are here to discuss the merger that both CAM Cosmetics and DEL Beauty and Spa are plodding to form with us here at Glow cosmetics."

Iretomiwa's eyes widened.

What?

"What?" Femi voiced out her exact thoughts.

"Williams, is this a joke or what?" Mr. Coker lifted himself from his seat with a red face. He turned with a pointed finger towards Tobe's father, "Dozie so this was your plan all along? Just when I thought about forming the long awaited merger, you decided to use your wicked heart to mock me...."

"Coker," Mr Williams cautioned

"....We asked for the merger first. Their proposal should have been discarded right away."

"It's enough! Mr Coker, if you don't respect anyone here, you should respect yourself."

She saw Femi tug on his father's agbada, compelling him to sit down.

"Good. As I was saying, it's a struggle and since it's difficult for me to pick who we'll be forming the merger with, I'll leave the decision to my daughter." He directed his next words to the two supposed suitors. "Anyone of you my daughter chooses to marry would be the one we'll form the merger with. So it's up to you two to win her heart over."

A triumphant smile appeared on Tomiwa's lips.

I choose Tobe.

She wanted to voice out her thoughts but that might cause some more drama from Mr. Coker. She would take her sweet time to play their kidneys off.

"Any objection or contribution?" Her father asked and the men shook their heads.

"Well, it's a welcomed development for me but I'm not sure Dozie here would be in support." Mr. Coker sassed with a smirk, his mischievous eyes hooked with the plain ones of Mr. Dozie.

Mr. Williams turned to Mr. Dozie with a questioning look and he shrugged, "I have no problem with it but I think we should limit the selection to a time frame."

Mr Williams nodded in understanding, "Coker, what do you suggest?"

"Ehh... I think we can work with the suggested two months."

"Okay.... Two months is perfect. Tomiwa I'm sure you're following."

"Yes sir."

"Good. Any other thing?" He glanced at everyone in the office and when no one said anything, he concluded, "That would be all for this meeting."

********

Tomiwa landed in her swivel chair with a thud. The wide smile on her face made her excitement obvious.

She turned to look at Tife who would rather be on her phone than ask her what the good news was. On a second thought, she sat up in her chair.

"Tife...."

No reply.

She frowned, "Tife!"

"What?" She noticed the edge Tife had to her voice.

Something was definitely wrong.

"Why are you sulking like a child? If something is wrong, speak up!"

She heard Tife mumble some inaudible words to herself and she scoffed in annoyance.

"If you're not going to talk, please come and be going. Don't come and spoil my already made day."

"You're getting married to my Femi," Tife mumbled. Tomiwa who only heard the word 'Femi' found herself yelling even though she tried so hard not to.

"What the fuck, Tife speak up!"

"You're getting married to my Femi!" Tife yelled back. Silence took over the atmosphere as Tomiwa tried to process the words Tife spewed from her lips.

She blinked severally, biting the insides of her mouth. Her eyes widened in realisation, "Wait, is Femi Coker your Femi?"

Tife nodded, "Apparently."

Tife's hand flew to her open mouth, "What? Are you kidding me?" Tife shrugged.

"So it's because of that beardless toothpick you're shouting at me, ehhh Tife?"

Tife found herself laughing at the unworthy description of her obsession. "Ire you're crazy. It's my Femi you're calling a beardless toothpick?"

"Well I was just simply stating the facts."

"But are you guys getting married." Tife's voice broke. She stared down at her toenails. The nail polish was already peeling off. She needed to get a pedicure soon.

"Nope. I have a better option."

"You're whyning me." When Tomiwa didn't reply, her eyes widened in excitement, "Are you serious?"

Tomiwa rolled her eyes, "No, I'm not." Tife panicked. "Mumu! See how your mind don fly. Femi syndrome in action."

"Ire you're a useless girl!"
