【SEASON 6 EPISODE 11】
Jules has had nightmares before. Everyone got them. Julianna Lawrence has had nightmares about zombies, falling off of high ledges, the list went on.
She just never thought she'd have to relive something over and over again, but here she was, stuck watching Kwon did over and over again in her sleep.
Jules didn't sleep the night he died, just stayed awake at night with her head on Eli's chest, listening for his heartbeat so she knew his wouldn't stop too.
Even when they got back to the valley, Jules continued to dream about the boy. She could still hear his screams as if she traveled back in time to that very moment and she could still feel that stomach churning knot that formed in her belly.
Luckily—as bad as it sounds—Jules found time to sleep during her school day.
She was the teachers assistant to the librarian during her sixth period and she only ever had to actually do stuff whenever a class signed up to use the library during her period. It only happened around twice a month so all of those other days, Jules got to read any book she'd like in the room and find a nice table in the back corner to read.
But since coming home from Barcelona, Jules has used her free time to catch up on sleep.
The only time she didn't use her practically free period to sleep was the day Robby would meet with Counselor Blatt to talk about his future.
After rambling to the librarian, Mrs. Hummel, about Robby's issue, Jules was given the okay to wait outside the counselors door until she heard any news since class ended in 15 minutes anyway and Jules had no busy work to do.
Jules sat on the floor with her knees pulled to her chest. They bounced recklessly, making little rhythmic thuds as she waited for Robby to come out of the office.
She didn't know how long she waited, but as soon as Julianna heard Counselor Blatt's office door open, she shot off the ground. Julianna watched impatiently as Carmen and her dad walked out of the office, but as soon as her eyes landed on Robby, she ran toward him.
"How did it go?" She asked, making everyone turn to her.
Johnny squinted at his daughter and then the empty hallway. He turned back to Jules, shaking his head. "Shouldn't you be in class?" Johnny asked and Jules, barely turning her head to look in the direction of the library, pointed behind her with her thumb.
"I TA Mrs. Hummel in the library this period." She quickly answered before she turned back to her twin. Again, Jules raised her eyebrows, a hopeful smile on her face. "So?"
Robby sighed and Julianna's face fell. When Robby dropped his head, Jules took a small step toward him. "Not good. Dad almost jumped Counselor Blatt." He muttered.
Jules looked up to her dad and Carmen, silently asking if Robby was telling the truth and when they both nodded, Julianna sighed. Her lips pursed as she look back to Robby and she shrugged. "Yeah? Well, she deserves it."
"Julianna!" A voice behind Robby and Johnny scolded.
Jules was sure her heart speed for a good five seconds until her eyes landed on her mom standing with a man she didn't recognize. Julianna cursed to herself, completely forgetting that their mom would be at the meeting too.
She sent them both an uncomfortable smile. "Oh... Hi mom and random man." Jules greeted, nodding her head awkwardly to the man she's never met before.
The guy must've thought Jules referring to him as "random man" was an invitation to introduce himself. He took a step toward Julianna and held his hand out for her to shake.
"I'm Jace. You must be Julianna! Your mom talks about you all the time!" The man cheered as Jules shook his hand. Out of the corner of her eyes, Jules could see her dad and Robby both lower their heads, already knowing that Jace used a bad choice of words.
"She does?" Jules asked in a mock excitement, a small, as a very fake sheepish smile growing on her face. She turned back to Robby and her dad, raising her eyebrows playfully. "Well, that's the first." Julianna hummed, earning a quick elbow in the ribs from Robby.
Jules spun back around to face Robby, but before she could defend herself, the bell for the end off the school day rang throughout the building.
Johnny stepped toward the twins, putting a hand on each of their shoulders. "Let's just head home, yeah? We have to be at LaRusso's soon to help set up." Johnny quickly blurted, dragging Jules down the hallway before she got to say anything.
...
The plan was for everyone to head home, get dressed for the the LaRusso Auto event, and then head over early to help Daniel set up, but not even thirty minutes after school got out, Eli, who was going to the anniversary event as Julianna's date, called him girlfriend and told her he had an emergency and he was heading over to hers in half an hour.
So Robby, Johnny, and the Diazes all headed to the dealership to help set up and Jules waited at home for Eli to arrive.
Robby and Miguel started texting Julianna as soon as they got to the dealership, freaking out to her that Daniel was acting like a bride-zilla and she was lucky she wasn't there to get yelled at with the rest of them.
When Jules opened the door for Eli, she froze. His hair was down—no mohawk and instead, small little specks of red were peaking out behind the fallen blue.
Of course, Jules had seen Eli with his hair down before, but they would have to leave for the event soon and Eli never wore his hair down unless he was around a select group of people.
She didn't comment on it, just stepped aside to let him in.
"Whatever was so important that we had to hang out before the event—thank you. Miguel and Robby are getting chewed out by Mr. LaRusso right now, and I'm glad I'm not dealing with that." Jules said with a laugh as Eli stepped inside.
"Hi." She muttered, smiling up at him as he came toward her.
Eli stepped closer, slipped a hand around her waist, leaned down, and kissed her. "Hi." He murmured against her lips, a small smile forming before he pulled back and walked fully into the house.
Jules shut the door behind him as Eli let out a sigh, answering her unspoken question.
"Well, the Sekai Taikai is done so I figured I'd get rid of the American flag." He said casually.
Jules, still facing the door, silently cheered to herself, making a small fist with her hand in victory before turning back around and following him to her kitchen island.
"And I thought, why not have you dye my hair one last time?" Eli continued as he took a seat at the island. Jules squinted at his words.
She always dyed his hair.
Her eyes narrowed at him playfully, taking a seat beside him. "One last time? Are you firing me? I've always dyed your hair." Jules said with a fake offended hand to her chest. Eli chuckled, dropping his head.
He modded through his laughter and looked back up at Jules, his smile softening. "I know, but you won't need to anymore."
Julianna's teasing expression shifted, her eyebrows that were raised to poke fun to the boy, dropped and creased together in confusion. Eli noticed julianna's confusion and scratched the back of his neck.
"We're about to graduate, so I figured I'd dye my hair one last time. And once it grows out... I'll buzz it again—start fresh for college." His tone was casual, but when he shrugged his shoulders, Jules could see the sheepish smile he was trying to hide and the tiniest hint of pink painting his cheeks.
Jules instantly smiled, just barely holding back a little squeal. Eli watched her, amused by the way her eyes sparkled and her grin stretched across her face. She looked like she was about to bounce out of her seat in excitement.
Eli couldn't stop his smirk as he raised an eyebrow at her. "What are you all smiley about?" He asked, his voice mimicking a teasing him.
Jules licked her lips, trying to suppress her grin. "I just really liked your buzzcut." She admitted, trying her hardest to act as causal as possible as she shrugged her shoulders, but failed completely.
Eli felt a tug in his stomach at her words. His smirk quickly turned into a dopey smile. "Yeah?" Be asked, his voice picking up slightly.
Eli reached forward and hooked his fingers into the belt loops of her jeans. Jules nodded. "Yeah." She giggled out as Eli tugged her forward. She let out a small yelped as she stumbled between his legs, standing chest to chest with him as he sat at the island.
He dipped his head down, capturing her lips in another kiss, this one softer and longer than the one they shared at the door. Jules melted into it, draping her arms around his shoulders.
As the kiss deepened, Eli's hands slid from her belt loops to her waist, his thumbs brushing gentle circles over the sliver of exposed skin between her shirt and jeans before they raised to sit just under her shirt.
When they finally pulled away, Eli was still smiling, his thumb still tracing her side. "So, how about we head to the store and pick out one last color?" He murmured, his voice quieter despite them being alone.
Jules smiled, slowly nodding her head. "Sounds perfect," She whispered before leaning in for another quick kiss.
As soon as she pulled away though, her expression turned nervous—more than it had been throughout their flirty conversation.
"But..." She glanced away nervously and Eli immediately picked up on it, his eyebrows raising. He held back a smirk as she nervously glanced away.
She felt his gentle squeeze on her waist before she turned back to him. "Maybe..." Julianna's eyes moved back to Eli and her hand that was resting on her shoulder we can keep it down for the event tonight?" She asked, her shoulders raising slightly in a sheepish shrug.
Eli blinked, momentarily surprised. Then, his smirk widened and he chuckled, tugging Jules closer toward him. "Just for you, Sunshine." He murmured, one of his hands moving from Julianna's waist to cup her face and pull her into another kiss.
...
Miguel and Robby stared at Eli like he was a wild animal.
Eli Moskowitz was standing in the middle of LaRusso Auto with teal hair, but no mohawk.
Miguel and Robby have never seen Eli without his hair down since he got the mohawk besides when it got buzzed.
Robby blinked, his mouth open in shock. "This is weird..." He muttered and Miguel slowly nodded in agreement, looking just as dazed—if not, even more than Robby was.
Miguel squinted at Eli in front of him as his mouth opened and closed in shock. "I feel like I'm in an alternate timeline..." He reached forward to touch Eli's hair and Eli smacked his hand again.
"Ow!"
Eli glared at the two boys in front of him, running a hand through his hair, which only made Miguel and Robby more stunned.
"Jules asked if I have it down tonight for the celebration so... laugh all you want, take your pictures—I don't care." Eli shrugged, looking around the dojo for Jules.
He spotted her across the floor, talking with Daniel. He could hear what they were saying, but Eli thinks he saw Daniel say "Boston" and something else. He figured he was right when Julianna's face flushed and she smiled.
Miguel and Robby watched Eli stare off at the girl and Robby smiled. "Wow, you really love Jules." He breathed out. Obviously, he knew it was true. He had been around the couple all this time. Even when they were broken up, Robby could tell that Eli loved Jules, but seeing him like this... it was different.
Eli turned back to Robby and Miguel, scoffing at Robby comment.
"Dude, duh. I've been in love with her since I was like six." Eli said as if it were obvious and Robby's eyebrows raised. That he didn't know.
Miguel chuckled at Eli's words, turning to look at Jules still talking to Daniel. "Have you told her about CalTech yet?" He asked and Eli tensed up, his jaw clenching.
When Eli didn't respond, Miguel turned back to him and from beside him, Robby was looking at Eli with huge eyes. "You got into CalTech?" Robby asked and Eli quickly looked around the room to make sure Jules wasn't around.
He turned back to Robby once he realized Jules was pretty far away still and nodded.
Robby's smile doubled in size. He looked to Miguel next to him before he turned back to Eli, confused as to why neither of them were smiling. "Hawk, that's amazing." Robby cheered, trying to get the boy excited for his achievement, but Eli's frown only deepened.
"Yeah, but it's 2,969 from her." Eli muttered, his voice quiet as he turned back to Jules again. Now, Daniel was pointing across the room and to Sam, who was talking with her mom. Jules was nodding along to whatever Daniel was saying and Eli felt his chest tighten.
Staring at him again, Miguel and Robby leaned toward each other. "Oh... he's down bad. He already knows the distance." Miguel whispered to Robby before he really thought about what was happening to Eli.
If he and Sam were gonna be that far from each other, Miguel's puls definitely have the same reaction as Eli.
Miguel leaned forwardF lightly punching Eli's arm to make him look back to them. "Hey, man, Jules won't be upset with you for wanting to go to CalTech." Miguel tried to reassure, but Eli immediately shook his head.
"No, I know that." Eli interrupted, waving off Miguel's words. Miguel and Robby squinted at him, confused on what the problem was.
Eli licked his lips as he looked between the two and sighed. "It's just... when I was thinking about MIT, Jules and I were talking about living together instead of doing student housing. Now, I'm thinking about going to a school across the country?" Eli breathed out.
His gaze moved back to Jules, his eyes finding her instantly. Eli watched as Jules walked away from Daniel and toward Sam. Eli frowned, his heart feeling like it was sinking down his chest.
"I don't want to be far from her. I can't."
Miguel and Robby stared at Eli with the same look they had given him earlier in the night when they first saw his hair down—as if he was a wild animal. But now, there was a sadness in their eyes, both of them finally understanding why this acceptance into CalTech was bothering him so much.
It took second for either of them to speak, but it was Miguel who made the first move. He didn't really know what to say, maybe he didn't say the best thing, but it was the best he could come up with.
"Well, then I guess that's something you've gotta think about."
Eli turned back to Miguel, his eyes a little wider than normal as he waited to hear whatever amazing plan Miguel had to solve his issue.
The corner of Miguel's lips turned downward and he shrugged. "What's more important, CalTech or being close to Jules?"
Eli was the one to stare now. He watched Miguel—really taking in his words. What did he want more?
And then he heard her laugh.
She was standing closer to the boys now. At her own table with Sam and watching her, a small smile made its way onto Eli's face.
CalTech or Jules?
"Your dad told me he sold a car to some UCLA dude." Jules told Sam as the two of them drank the bottles of champagne their parents let them have for the night. The blondes eyebrows were raised as she took a sip of the drink and Sam scoffed.
"God, he told you too?" Sam complained and Julianna's twisted.
She put her glass of champagne down on the table and frowned at Sam words. "You're not happy about it?" Jules asked and Sam sighed, relaxing a little knowing that she was finally about to get this off her chest to somebody.
"I just... I want to be able to be on my own. Like you, and Lex, and Demetri. You're all going so far and what? I'm gonna be 20 miles away from home? It's not what I want." Sam muttered, nervously looking around the room to make sure her dad wasn't nearby to hear her.
"Well, where were you thinking?" Jules asked and just thinking about it, Sam could stop the smile growing on her face.
"There was this program in Okinawa that I got into. I haven't stopped thinking about it." Sam giggled out like an excited little kid.
Julianna's eyes widened and her jaw dropped. Slowly, that dropped jaw turned into a smile and she pulled the girl into a hug.
"Oh my God. Sam, that's amazing!" Jules sang, her words getting a little muffled by Sam's hair, but the brunette still heard her and smiled wider.
When they pulled away, Jules kept her hands on Sam's shoulders and looked dead in tot he girls eyes. "If that's where you want to go, you should go." Jules whispered.
Sam struggled to keep her eyes on Jules but she forced herself to continue looking up at the girl.
Jules gave Sam a lopsided smile and tilted her head. Her eyes moved just behind Sam for a moment, watching Amanda and Daniel talk with other party-goers and pointing to Sam excitedly.
"Your parents will understand. They'll just miss you." Jules whispered as she turned back to Sam.
Sam looked to the ground and sighed, but Jules continued to watch her. After a couple seconds, the blonde shrugged.
"I'll miss you."
Sams head snapped back up, her wide eyes locking with Julianna's.
"I would miss you even if you did stay home." Jules continued before she laughed, shaking her head. "Hell, I'm gonna miss Demetri and he's gonna be like two miles from me."
Sam laughed at Julianna's words, her head dropping to giggle. When her and Julianna's laughter died down, Jules shook her head gently.. "But if this is where you want to go, you should go."
Sam stared up at Jules, slowly starting to smile. She wanted to go to Okinawa. There was no doubt.
Before she could thank Jules for calming down her nerves, the loud clink of glass made the whole room go silent. The two girls turned their heads and saw Daniel with a glass and spoon in his hand, hoping to get everyone's attention.
Everyone moved to crowd around the man. Jules pushed her way through the small crowd to get to the front, holding Sams hand as she led her through the sea of people.
The two girls made it to the front row with Eli, Miguel, and Robby. Jules moved to stand in between Eli and Robby while Sam moved to stand with Miguel.
Feeling someone push their way between him and Robby, Eli turned his head and smiled when he realized it was Jules.
"Hey, baby." Eli whispered, wrapping his arm around Julianna's shoulder and quickly kissing her temple.
"Hey." Jules whispered, holding Eli's hand that draped across her shoulders. They turned back to Daniel just as everyone crowded around him.
"Everyone! I just want to thank you all for being here with us tonight. We are so lucky to be surrounded by friends and family." Daniel smirked, gesturing to the building they were all standing in. "And the family that we have chosen, the LaRusso Auto family."
A few people laughed around Jules, making Daniels smile grow. "You know, a family means that we love and support each other no matter what, and that we could be proud of every step forward we've taken together." Daniel said before he took a deep breath, his eyes h to hand five kids in the front tire for a spoilt second.
" And even after 18 incredible years, there's still so much ahead of us." Daniel said and Julianna smiled at his last words. Her stomach filled with butterflies at the idea of graduation coming up so fast. It was scary, but just like Daniel said, there was so much ahead of her.
"In the early days of this business, things were pretty uncertain. We knew we were taking a risk. We had no idea if we'd be well-received. But we build something on our own. We trusted each other..." Danish raised his glass and looked over ask of his guests. "We trusted that it would all work out okay because we had each other so thank you to everyone in our family, old and new! Here's to the next step forward!"
Everyone cheered to Daniel's toast and as everyone started to drink their champagne, Jules felt her phone buzz in her purse against her side.
She quickly finished the champagne and grabbed her phone. Her eyebrows furrowed and her lips parted at the text she received from Tory.
"Did your dad talk to you about the Sekai Taikai coming back?"
"What the hell?" Jules breathed out, catching Eli and her friends attention. They all turned to Jules, and Robby unashamedly leaned over his sisters shoulder to read her text.
As soon as she saw Robby's face twist, Sam's face fell. She looked back and forth between the twins nervously. "What is it?" Sam asked.
Jules looked up to answer Sam, but her focus was quickly taken by her dad and Daniel talking to each other secretly just behind Sam.
Without saying a word, Jules and Robby walked toward the two men, Jules gently pushing her phone into Eli's chest so he could read the text. It honestly freaked Eli, Sam, and Miguel how in sync Jules and Robby could be sometimes without even talking.
Eli decided to just follow Jules and Robby without reading the text, Miguel and Sam trailing behind him.
"Dad, is it true?" Jules asked as she and Robby walked up to the men. Daniel and Johnny turned to the five teens waiting expectantly.
"The tournament back on?" Robby asked and from behind the twins, Sam, Miguel, and Eli's eyes widened. Daniel and Johnny turned to each other, having a silent conversation with just a look in their eyes. After a couple moments, the two men turned back to the teens in front of them.
"It's true if that's what you all want." Daniel said, his eyes on mainly Jules and Robby—the captains.
Jules and Robby turned to each other. Julianna just barely raised her eyebrows and Robby smirked, nodding his head. Julianna turned back to her senseis, her eyes going to her dad first.
Johnny smirked at his kids, slowly nodding his head and Jules stifled a laugh. Her eyes moved back to Daniel and she smirked.
"Bring it on.
