【SEASON 6 EPISODE 13: PART THREE】
Axel broke Robby's knee.
Jules and Tory leaned back against the cold lockers to Robby's left as they examined him and as soon as they heard the news, both of them crowded around him with Shannon and Johnny. Jules stood in between her mom and Tory by Robby's head, anxiously chewing on her thumbnail.
Tory squeezed Julianna's hand she was still holding tight and at first, Jules thought it Tory squeezing her hand was just Tory's own worry for Robby—but then Jules realized that the moment she stopped biting her nail, Tory's grip loosened.
Her grip came right back though when Daniel punched the lockers next to him, making the two of them jump.
Jules swallowed the lump in her throat and leaned down toward Robby, squeezing his arm gently and giving him the best smile she could muster up in the moment. "You killed it out there." She whispered and Robby pressed his lips together to hold back scoffing.
He looked away just in case and shook his head. "Yeah, until Axel broke my knee." He grumbled.
Julianna raised her eyebrows, giving Robby a lopsided smile. "He was just too scared he was gonna lose." She hummed, making Tory from beside her snicker. On her left, Shannon leaned down to be closer to her sons face and she gently ran her thumb across the top of his head. "Julianna's right. You were awesome and I'm so proud of you."
Robby managed to smile at that. He turned back to the four lined up beside him, his eyes on his mom. "Thanks, mom." He muttered before his eyes moved to Jules next to her. "And thanks, Juli."
Shannon and Julianna both smiled down at Robby and the boys eyes widened before started to blink rapidly, thinking he was seeing double. When Robby realized how new it was to see Jules and their mom together, he relaxed–and silently patted himself on the back for being the reason they made up. He cleared his throat and pulled his lips together to stop his bottom one from trembling. "Do you guys mind if I have a minute to myself?" He asked, his voice wavering.
Jules immediately stepped back from where Robby was laying and nodded. If she was in his position, she would've thought there was too many people around her already. She probably would've kicked everyone out way sooner than he did.
"Of course." She muttered and as Daniel and Chozen past the boy, Chozen gently grabbed Robby's shoulder and gave it an encouraging shake.
"Take all the time you need, Robby-san." Chozen said as he and Daniel walked out of the room. Johnny and Shannon started to walk out next, and Jules started to follow them, ultimately dragging Tory with her since they were still holding hands, but Julianna only made it about three steps before she realized Tory wasn't moving with her.
Jules turned to Tory, her eyebrows raised as she met her eyes. Tory let go of Julianna's hand to grab Robby's and she stepped closer to him. "I'm gonna stay back." Tory whispered. Julianna's eyes moved to Robby and her eyebrows raised, silently asking him if that's okay with him since he wanted to be alone.
Robby rolled his eyes, holding back a smile at the action. He turned back to Jules and nodded, letting her know it was okay that Tory stays with him.
Jules turned back to Tory and gave her one last smile before she started to walk out of the room.
She walked out into the hallway and saw her parents, and Daniel—Chozen went back to the main room to say Robby couldn't fight anymore.
"God, I hate that team." Julianna scoffed, crossing her arms over her chest as she moved to lean against the wall with her dad. She shook her head and glared down at the ground as the three adults eyes moved to her. "I can't wait till I get to kick their little lap dog in the face."
Johnny nodded his head at his daughter's words. He waited an arm around her shoulders and pulled her into his side, patting his hand on her shoulder with a sense of pride. "That's the spirit!" The man hummed and Daniel's head snapped to him, his eyes wide and his jaw slacked.
"Johnny!" Daniel scolded.
Johnny looked up at Daniel and shrugged cluelessly. He looked back and forth between Julianna and Daniel before he raised his hand that wasn't around Jules to gesture to her. "What? Did you see how that girl looked after Jules handled her? She had two black eyes, a bloody nose, and a busted lip!" Johnny listed, counting the injuries on his fingers with a big smile on his face.
Shannon's eyes almost popped out of her head as she looked away from Johnny and to Julianna
"What?"
Johnny ignored the woman, keeping his eyes on Daniel. He pulled Jules closer into his side and gently shook her shoulder as a form of encouragement. "If anyone's gonna kick that Iron Dragons girls ass, it's Jules." Johnny said in a matter of fact tone, his chin raised high to prove a point.
As he spoke, Tory walked out of the locker room. Her steps slowed at Johnny's words and she gulped nervously. Tory stood frozen in the doorway until everyone's eyes moved to her. She opened and closed her mouth, speechless as she thought about Johnny's words before she finally turned to the man in question and his daughter.
"He wants to talk to you guys." She mumbled, her voice wavering, but Jules figured it was because of whatever was said between her and Robby.
Johnny dropped his arm from around Julianna's shoulder and nodded his head. Without saying a word, his hand moved to Julianna's back and he gently pushed her into the room.
Jules made a beeline to Robby, Johnny hot on her trail. She leaned down a little to be closer to Robby and smiled down at him. "Hey, bro bro." She hummed softly, bringing her hand up to caress his shoulder.
Her dad was by her side in seconds, raising his eyebrows at Robby. "You all right?"
Robby looked up at the ceiling and when the light reflected into his eyes, Jules could finally see how glossy they were.
"I could've won. It sucks the world will never know that." He sighed out as Jules squeezed his shoulder. His eyes moved back to Jules and Johnny and a shaky smile slowly made its way onto his face. "But I do. I did my best. I fought with honor."
The tears in his eyes started to trail down his face and before he could wipe it away, Julianna's hand left his shoulder and she wiped it away.
Robby sniffled and nodded his head once as a silent "thank you" and he shrugged. "If that lands me in second place, there's worse places to be." Robby muttered, his voice wavering in defeat.
Johnny sighed, leaning a little closer to the two teens. He frowned at how broken Robby looked and shook his head. "You're taking this way better than I ever could." Johnny whispered and Jules scoffed out a laugh.
"You're taking the fucking knee way better than I ever could." Jules added, looking for at Robby's wrapped leg before she looked back to his eyes and raised her eyebrows. "Remember when I sprained my wrist when I was five? I lost my mind." Jules rambled and Robby snickered, quickly looking away to hide his smile.
As his laughter died down, the smile was still pretty faint in his face. He looked back up at the ceiling and his eyes squinted a little at the bright light above him. "I guess instead of focusing on the things that I lost, I just wanna focus on the things that I've won." Robby admitted.
Jules and Johnny both tilted their heads to the side, wanting to know more on what Robby meant.
He saw it out of the corner of his eyes and he smirked at them doing the same action. He turned back to his sister and dad, shaking his head with a small smile.
"Karate's given me all the best things in my life. It's given me my friends. It's given me my girlfriend. It's given me my sister back." Robby listed before his voice became a whisper when he brought up Jules.
His eyes moved to specifically Julianna and the blonde smiled, her vision blurring from the years in her own eyes. She's squeezed his shoulder again as Robby looked to Johnny.
"It's given me my dad." Robby's voice cracked.
Julianna took her hand off of Robby's shoulder to quickly wipe her eyes.
She took a deep breath—it almost came out as a wheeze as she forced a smile onto her face. "I'd say that makes you a different kind of winner, then." Jules whispered and Robby smiled at her words. He shakily reached up and wiped the stray tear going down her face just like she did for him.
"And in my opinion, I think that's a way better win." Jules finished, struggling to hold back crying.
It seemed like beside her, Johnny was struggling too because when he leaned toward Robby, his hand taking Julianna's old spot on his shoulder, Johnnys smile shook as he held his lips back from quivering.
"Jules is right. That make's you a winner in anyone's eyes." Johnny added, his own voice shaky. He squeezed Robby's shoulder and gently rubbed his thumb up and down. "Especially mine."
When she noticed Johnny starting to lean down towards Robby, Jules stayed back to give the two of them room to hug.
Johnny held onto his son tightly, going back and forth between rubbing and patting his back. He turned his head and's kissed Robby's cheek just before he pulled away.
"I love you, man." Johnny whispered and Robby chuckled.
"I love you too." He said back with his laugh. Johnny continued to smile down at Robby before his eyes moved to Julianna beside him. He wrapped an arm around her shoulders and pulled her into his side.
Johnny kissed Julianna's temple as his hand ran up and down her arm. When he pulled away, he felt a small warmth in his chest at the sight of his kids—his babies, staring up at him.
"I'll be out there." He said, pointing behind him with his thumb toward the arena. Jules and Robby both nodded their heads, Julianna muttering a small "okay" and then he walked out of the room.
When it was just the twins, Jules looked back to Robby and her shoulders dropped. "I'm really proud of you." She hummed and Robby smiled.
"Thanks, Juli." He muttered before he pursed his lips for a seconds. "Good luck out there." Robby added casually. Jules snorted at the comment, shaking her head and looking away. "You don't have to say that." She muttered, raising an eyebrow as she turned back to Robby. "I'm fighting your girlfriend tomorrow for the finals spot."
Robby rolled his eyes and pressed his lips together into a thinner smile. "I'm not picking sides, I'm just saying to give it your all." Robby said and Jules nodded her head.
"Alright." She whispered before she looked Robby up and down. "Do you need help getting back out there?" Jules asked and Robby shook his head.
"No, it's okay. You can go back out there. Mom can help me." Robby assured and Jules raised her eyebrows, silently asking him if he was sure. When Robby nodded, Jules nodded back and gently pressed her hand on the top of the boys head, smoothing out his hair.
She whispered a quiet "i love you" that made Robby smile before he mouthed it back.
When Jules walked back into the arena, Gunther's voice echoed over the speakers. "As Robby Keene cannot continue, Axel Kovacevic moves onto the finals and if Cobra Kai does not name a replacement for Kwon Jae-Sung, Axel Kovacevic will be named the boys champion following the conclusion of tomorrow's girls' semifinal round."
Jules sighed as she reached Demetri, Lexi, and Eli huddled together. She crossed her arm over her chest as Demetri's eyes moved from Gunther to the scoreboard. He frowned at the very major gap in points between Miyagi-Do and the other teams. His shoulders delayed as he sighed, his eyes staying glued on the scoreboard.
"I hate to be the bearer of math news–"
Demetri was cut off by Lexi scoffing. He turned to look at her just as she rolled her eyes and smiled up at him. "Oh, please! You love to be the bearer of math news!" Lexi interjected and Demetri pursed his lips. She did get him there.
But not when the math was telling him that there was a very high probability the team will lose.
Demetri sighed, shaking his head at Lexi's comment. "In this case, sadly, no." He quickly defended. His eyes moved back to the scoreboard and he pursed his lips to hold himself back from frowning. "That fight just set us way back. Jules would have to score multiple knockdowns and the Iron Dragons would have to stop scoring all together."
Jules shrugged at that. Yeah, it'll probably be really difficult, but Julianna truly believed she could be able to pull it off. She looked away from the scoreboard and turned to Lexi, Demetri, and Eli circled around her.
"Well, if someone can really piss me off before my fight, I think I can do it. I kicked Zara's ass pretty hard in Barcelona." She said with pursed lips and a causal shrug, her arms crossed over her chest.
Eli sighed and stepped a little closer to Jules. "As much as I love the enthusiasm, Sunshine—" He leaned down to be a little closer to Julianna's ear so only she could hear him and he couldn't help the way the corners of his lips quirked up.
"And find it really attractive." He whispered into Julianna's ear before he straightened back up and turned to conversation back to everyone. He shrugged, trying his hardest to hide the smile on his face when he saw the way Julianna's cheeks slowly started to turn pink. "The Iron Dragons have been scoring nonstop." Eli finished and Demetri shook his head, looking between Eli, Lexi, and Jules.
"We need to face the facts. We lost." Demetri muttered in a disappointed complaint.
Jules bit her lip as she looked at Demetri. Her foot tapped anxiously as her eyes moved away from him and to Lexi beside him. The girl looked almost as defeated as her boyfriend—her head was down and she wouldn't meet Julianna's eyes.
Jules turned to Eli, the only one who seemed to actually look back at her. In all honesty, Julianna honestly wished Eli wouldn't look at her because seeing the look in his eyes—the look that was almost apologetic, like he hated to break the news to her, killed her. It made her chest feel tight and it suddenly hurt to breathe.
Did they really think she couldn't do it?
She licked her lips and tore her eyes away from Eli. Her arms crossed tighter over her chest, taking her breath away from a second.
"Not until I hear it from the ref." Jules grumbled before walking away from the three, shaking her head with a tired huff.
