【SEASON 6 EPISODE 14: PART ONE】
"This is where it all started."
Jules stood tall in the old Cobra Kai dojo, side by side with Miguel as her dad stood in front of them.
It honestly felt weird to be back. The last time she stood in this dojo as a student, the school fight hadn't happened yet, and her and Eli had just broken up.
Julianna pushed those thoughts out of her mind and breathed in the nostalgia as her dad smiled at her and Miguel.
"You two were my first students." Johnny breathed out before he raised his hand and pointed at the two teens, a small smile on his face. "And over two years ago, just like now, it was only the three of us in here. Talking about your make believe asthma and peanut allergies." The man scoffed out, pointing to Julianna and Miguel's left where he had thrown Miguel's inhaler years ago.
As Miguel chuckled at the memory, Julianna's head dipped and she sighed. "Still very much allergic to peanuts." She muttered, earning an jab in the ribs from Miguel.
Julianna's head snapped back up at the elbow to the ribs and luckily, her dad hadn't heard her words. If he had heard her, he may have made Jules eat a spoonful of peanut butter to prove it.
Instead, Johnny paced slowly in front of Jules and Miguel, his head held high. "We've been through a lot of Cobra Kai bullshit since then. But none of that matters because this is our Cobra Kai." He turned to face the two teens, both of them having the same excited smirk as him. "And tomorrow, we're gonna show the world that nobody strikes harder than us. Is that understood?"
"Yes, sensei!"
Johnny's smirk softened into a smile at his kids voices, getting a weird sense of deja vu just having the two of them in the room. He pushed down the feeling and nodded his head. "Good. Now, let's show these international assholes how we do things in the Valley." He cheered before clapping his hands and pointing down to the ground.
"Come on! Push-ups on your knuckles til you drop! Let's go!" Johnny yelled, Miguel and Jules jumping at his volume.
Jules had to hold back rolling her eyes as she got into a plank and on knuckles and started to do push-ups.
Her arms and gut immediately started to burn and she couldn't tell if Miguel was purposefully going faster than her or if she was just bad at push-ups, but every two push-ups she did, Miguel was on his fifth one. By the time she was at push-up number 95, Julianna's arms were shaking so hard, she didn't think she was gonna be able to go back down.
When the bell above the front door of the dojo rang, Julianna's push-ups came to halt and she unashamedly looked over her shoulder to see Daniel, Sam, Robby, and Tory all walk into the dojo; Daniel and Sam carrying Johnny's baseball pitcher into the dojo while Tory and Robby carried bags of baseballs.
"Hell yeah! Now we're talking!" Johnny cheered as Julianna sighed, making Miguel stop his push-ups to turn to her.
"We need to take that thing away from him." Jules muttered, starting to stand up, Miguel hot on her tail.
After setting up the pitcher, Johnny put Miguel in front of the machine first, letting Jules, Sam, and Tory all help him buy putting baseballs in the machine for Miguel to hit and dodge.
"Nice Diaz!" Johnny yelled when Miguel smacked the baseball heading toward his face out of the way.
Partially to mess with him and partially to actually train him, Jules put two baseballs in back to back. After a few seconds of whizzing in the machine, the two balls flew toward Miguel's chest.
Miguel barely flinched as he leaned out of the way and punched the two balls, hitting them away from him.
Sam let out a playful wolf whistle as Julianna's eyebrows raised in shock, not expecting Miguel to actually dodge both of the baseballs. Johnny clapped loudly from beside the two girls, nodding his head in pride toward the boy.
"There we go! Now, let's get Jules in there!"
Jules started to walk to stand in front of the machine and as she passed Miguel, he gave her a fauz-glare, shaking his head. "Dirty move, Lawrence." He warned and Jules just giggled, continuing to walk to her mark and cracking her neck once she stood in front of the pitcher.
Miguel, Sam, Tory, and Robby all lined up to pitch a baseball to Jules. Miguel stacked three balls in his hands to launch at the blonde, which she thought was unfair, but she kept her mouth shut.
She was able to block and dodge each ball that was launched her way. Julianna ignored the burning feeling in her knuckles every time she punched one of the balls and instead, but her lips to contain her pain.
"Atta girl!" Her dad cheered, Miguel and Sam whooping behind him.
Julianna's jaw clenched, her fist burning as she punched another baseball away from her head.
The bell above the dojo doors rang again and Jules made sure to side step out of the pitchers aim before she looked to see who walked in.
She retightened the ponytail in her hair and let out a small breath of air as Eli, Lexi, and Demetri waltzed into the dojo with stack of woods slacks in each of their hands, Demetri walking back against the door to keep it open for Joey as he trailed in behind them, still on his crutches.
"All right! It's time to lay some wood!" Johnny cheered, turning off the baseball pitcher as Eli, Lexi, and Demetri placed the wood in their hands onto the floor behind Jules.
Johnny and Miguel walked toward the kids, bending down to grab five slacks of wood. He quickly passed them out, handing a piece of wood to Eli, Lexi, Demetri, Sam, and Tory.
"I want my two on crutches behind me. Keep hand wood to the others!" Johnny instructed, pointing behind him for Joey and Robby to stand with the stacks of wood.
"Yes, sensei!" Robby and Joey yelled back, moving behind the man as the five kids with wood lined up for Miguel and Jules to break them.
All the kids lined up and let Jules and Miguel break the boards with their punches and kicks over and over again.
After board breaking, Johnny and Daniel had threw in students to spar with Miguel and Jules. The two went back and forth. After Jules won her spar with someone, Miguel would hop into the center with someone else and they continued to go back and forth until Miguel and Jules fought everyone three times—even after Miguel accidentally kicked Demetri in the balls during his first round.
...
After training, Julianna changed out of her gi and laid back on the stack of sparring mats, staring up the the water damaged ceiling as she fiddled with the edge of her top.
She was all alone in the dojo. Miguel was outside with her dad, Tory was with Robby, and Eli and Joey were helping the LaRussos pack up their car to head back home.
When she heard someone walk into the dojo, Jules turned her head and sat up when she saw Lexi walking toward her, a plastic bag from Mel's Drive-In and two milkshakes in hand and a small smile on her face.
"Demetri and I did a walk around the block after that hit Miguel got on him. We got you some food." Lexi said softly, handing Jules the bag of food and one the milkshakes before taking a seat next to her on the sparring mats. "I know you don't like the corner stores pizza."
Julianna took the plastic bag and looked inside, an immediate smile growing on her face as the smell of Mel's burger and fries hit her nose. She looked down at the strawberry milkshake and guiltily started to unwrap the straw.
"Thanks." She muttered, not sounding all that excited in her tone.
Lexi's eyebrows furrowed, her nose scrunching as she looked to the blonde beside her. "What's wrong? You've got pre-fight nerves or something?" She asked, starting to laugh as she knocked her shoulders into Julianna's. "Because you can totally kick that bitch's ass."
"Again." Lexi added with a teasing hum.
A humorless laugh passed through Julianna's lips. She wanted to listen to Lexi, but her mind just couldn't shake the thoughts out of her head.
"No. It's not that." Jules whispered with a small smile at the idea of fighting Zara again. Lexi's face twisted beside her and she moved to face Jules, her own food and milkshake in her lap.
"What is it?" Lexi asked, her voice softer now as she watched Julianna closely.
Jules sighed, looking down at the pink drink in her hands before she start to shake the cup to think out the milkshake. "I just don't want this to end." She admitted as she brought the milkshake up to her lips and took a sip.
"What? The Sekai Taikai?" Lexi asked and Julianna sighed, her entire body deflating when the air left her lungs. "High school. As cheesy as it sounds." She muttered under her breath, but Lexi heard her.
Jules started to spin her straw around in her cup as a small fidget, not meeting Lexi's eyes. "We only have a couple months left and..." She took a big, shaky breath before she raised her head and looked up at Lexi. "You're my best friend."
Lexi's face softened, her lips tugging to hold back frowning as Julianna looked back down–now at her hands that were starting to pick at her cuticles. "For as long as I can remember, it's been you and me no matter what. Even when Eli and Demetri were fighting, even when Eli and I broke up, even when you and Demetri weren't talking." Jules rambled and when Lexi looked down to see what the blonde was messing with, she immediately grabbed Julianna's hands and placed one into her own lap, stopping her from picking at her skin.
Jules sighed, silently relieved that Lexi stopped her because she didn't want to have sore fingers before her fight tomorrow. She looked back up at Lexi and shrugged. "You and I have been constant. And now we're gonna be in different states."
Lexi nodded, her lips pursed as she looked out in front of the two of them. "211 miles..." She breathed out.
Julianna's head snapped up to look at Lexi, her eyebrows furrowed and her lips parting. Feeling eyes on her, Lexi turned her head and when she saw Jules already looking at her with a confused look, Lexi shrugged as if it were nothing. "What? I looked it up after we both applied." She said as if it were obvious.
Jules sighed, looking down at her feet that barely touched the ground from how she sat on the stacked sparring mats. "I don't know what I'm gonna do without you." She muttered under her breath, but Lexi heard her.
Lexi gave Jules a lopsided smile that the blonde didn't see since her head was down and playfully nudged her shoulder with her own. "You're not gonna be without me." Lexi said, making Jules looked back to the brunette. When their eyes locked, Lexi shook her head, squeezing Julianna's hand that she still kept in her lap.
"I'm always gonna be there for you. Even if I'm not physically there. I can be a text, a call, a FaceTime, a flight away. Whatever you need." Lexi said before she snickered, leaning back. "And you're crazy if you think I'm not visiting all the fucking time. I'll practically be you and Eli's fourth roommate."
Jules rolled her eyes, shaking her head as it dipped. "Lex, you're gonna be in New York City. There's no way you're visiting me all the time." She giggled out, making Lexi's eyebrows raise. "Uh... yes way! You're more important than New York!" Lexi practically screamed.
Blush spread across Julianna's face, a sheepish smile tugging at her lips.
"I am gonna miss you." She whispered.
Lexi's smile softened, her shoulders relaxing hearing those words out loud.
"I'm gonna miss you too." Lexi murmured back.
Without saying a word, Jules moved her bag of food and milkshake off her lap and scooted closer to Lexi until their thighs were touching and their shoulders were clashing together. Lexi giggled, letting go of Julianna's hand to wrap a lazy arm around the blonde's shoulders.
The doors to the dojo swung open just as Jules rested her head in the crook of Lexi's neck and Eli and Demetri waltzed into the room with big smiles on their faces, each of them holding their own bag of food and a milkshake.
"Sunshine! Lexi and Demetri got us food!" Eli cheered, throwing his hands in the air and ultimately raising the bag and milkshake above his head.
Eli and Demetri's smiles fell when they got closer to their girlfriends and finally registered the tears in their eyes. The two boys steps slowed, Eli's eyebrows furrowing while Demetri's lips parted in shock.
"You two okay?" Demetri asked softly, taking slow steps toward the two girls as if they would run away if he was too loud.
Julianna looked up to her boy, pushing her lips into a line to stop herself from crying. She looked away from Demetri and to Eli, who immediately stepped forward to stand side by side with Demetri when he saw how close to tears Jules was.
"Just get over here." Jules muttered, raising her hand further from Lexi to silently invite someone to sit down beside her.
Without a word, Eli slid into the empty spot on the sparring mat beside Jules as Demetri stepped to sit on the other side of Lexi. Demetri raised his hand up to gently cradle the back of Lexi's head and the shorter girl smiled, leaning down to rest her head in the crook of Demetri's neck. Eli scooted close to Jules, his arm snaking around her waist as their sides pressed together and Jules fell into the boys chest.
As soon as Julianna was in Eli's arms, he tightened his hold on the girl and leaned down, pressing a small kiss to her hairline.
