My puppies started barking, they usually don't do this unless they are playing rough or something/someone comes over to the house.

Something to add to the scare factor: we live out in the middle of nowhere soooo........

Yep, that's unsettling.

They keep barking in a certain direction, so something is close to the house.

(Most likely another dog from the neighbor's house)
