Comforting words
As I cried over my parents I heard a knock at the door. I quickly wipe my tears away and went to the door,
"Who is it?"
"Akatsuki, I'm Hanabusa's cousin. May I come in?"
"Yeah sure."
I sighed as I opened the door. He walked in and shut it behind him. He was a tall man with burnt orange hair and dark orange eyes. When he turned to look at me his gaze softened,
"Have you been crying Y/N?"
He asked seriously. My eyes widened slightly and I looked down,
"No. Why do you ask?"
He moved toward me and wiped a stray tear from my cheek,
"He shouldn't have said that. It was out of line."
He said stoically, but I could tell he was concerned. I went and sat down on the bed before turning back to look at him,
"It's fine, really. Don't worry about me, Akatsuki."
He seemed unconvinced as he went over to me and pulled me into a gentle embrace while leaning back on the bed. His hold on me was warm and comforting. I looked up at him,
"How come you stopped by? We don't really know each other."
I asked curiously. Akatsuki glanced down at me before responding,
"Hanabusa was pretty worried about you. He wanted asked me to check on you and make sure you were alright."
I smiled to myself, feeling warmth spread through my heart at the thought of Hanabusa worrying about me,
"Why'd you agree to check on me?"
I asked, causing the fiery haired male to shrug slightly,
"Hanabusa can be pretty annoying when he doesn't get his way. It was easier to just come see you. Besides, after that exchange with Ichijo, I figured you could use some company. He said some pretty nasty stuff. It's natural to be upset about it."
I nodded in agreement at his words,
"I'd be lying if I said it didn't hurt, but I don't care what he thinks of me. I just wish people would stop blaming me for my parents deaths. My Aunt and Uncle blamed me, as well. Every day my Aunt reminded me that I'm the reason her brother is dead. I used to cry about it all the time, but now I've hardened my heart against what others think. people believe what they want to believe and I've accepted that. I just wish I could remember what happened that night."
"What do you mean?"
Akatsuki asked curiously, moving me to face him. I looked up at him and responded,
"That night is...fuzzy. I remember my mother telling me to hide and I remember their deaths, but I can't remember who attacked the house or anything else that happened that night. The next thing I remember, Kaname had taken me to my Aunt and Uncle's house and explained the situation. He had been taking care of me for a few months prior, but suddenly decided to stick me with them. I hadn't seen him since that day."
Akasuki pulled me back towards him when I finished speaking,
"I'm sorry you've been through so much. If there's anything I can do, please let me know. I might be able to help you find out what happened that night."
I smiled at him,
"Thank you for your kindness, Akatsuki. I don't talk about my past typically, so I'm glad to know that you support me. I know we don't know each other very well, but I hope we can become friends."
He smiled back at me as I felt myself beginning to fall asleep,
"I'd like that, too."
Narrators POV
After she fell asleep, Akatsuki laid her down on her bed and walked out. As he did he saw Lord Kaname leaning against the wall outside her room,
"Akatsuki."
He said stoically, making the orange haired male stop,
"That girl, she's very interesting. I care for her very much. I trust that you will refrain from pursuing her?"
Akasuki bowed,
"Of course, my lord."
He said, but his heart had already chosen a different path.
YOUR POV
I woke up a few hours later to find that Akatsuki had left. I guess I shouldn't have expected him to be there, but I was happy he came by at all. I was about to go back to sleep when I heard something at my glass doors. I went to see what it was and saw a face in the reflection of the glass. It was a man with long dark brown hair and two different color eyes, one blue and one red. I gasped and turned around, only to be met with my empty room, void of anyone but myself. I looked back at the glass doors to see something written in blood:
I know who you are, Y/N
I'm coming for you, love
You're in danger
tell no one of this.
I backed up a little in surprise before opening the doors and stepping out onto the balcony. I quickly looked around,
"Hello?"
I called out, but I didn't see anyone. I shrugged and went back to bed with an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach. Before I fell asleep, I thought I saw someone by the foot of my bed, staring at me through the darkness.
