Why?

I looked at Kaname and blinked in surprise and confusion,

"What?"

I asked, turning to Alek who sighed in resignation,

"It's true. I wanted to tell you, but I was afraid you wouldn't believe me since I didn't live in the mansion with you. I was supposed to be introduced to you that day, but then Rido attacked my...our family. I tried to get there but--"

"Why didn't mother and father tell me?"

I asked stoically, not quite believing his story. He responded calmly,

"They were going to, but they feared you were not ready. That day I was supposed to be introduced to you and our engagement made final. We wouldn't have been married until you were much older obviously, but you would have grown up with me and been more comfortable with marrying me."

I turned to Kaname,

"Why didn't you tell me?"

I asked, pain evident in my voice. He came closer to me and smiled comfortingly at me,

"When I found you, you were very confused. You had idea where you were and you barely knew who you were. I recognized you from the times I had visited your parents. I had heard rumors that Rido had killed your family, but I didn't believe them. I kept everyone away from you because I didn't know who was an assassin sent to kill you. I also suspected your brother had something to do with it. Had I told you that you had a brother, you would have gone running off in search of him. I knew that was dangerous, that he was dangerous. I see now that I should've told you to stay away from him."

Kaname replied, tossing a cold glare at Alek. I clenched my fists and glared at him with betrayal in my eyes,

"That wasn't something for you to decide Kaname!"

"He didn't want to lose his precious Y/N."

Alek sneered. I turned to Kaname, who couldn't meet my eyes,

"Is that true?"

I asked softly. he nodded in return and I sighed,

"I wish you would've just been honest with me."

Kaname was silent as Alek smirked,

"Well, I must be going."

He said, then was gone in an instant as if he was never there. I didn't say a word to Kaname or the others as I exited the Moon Dorm.

When I stepped outside I looked around and, to my relief, didn't see anyone around. I started walking around the grounds on the dorm when I suddenly felt like I was being watched. I turned around and saw Zero standing behind a tree. I smiled softly at him,

"Hey Zero, what're you doing here?"

I asked him curiously. I figured he would've gone back to his room in the Sun Dorm. He came over to me and gently moved a strand of hair from my face. Before I could question him, he spoke softly,

"I know you're a vampire, but I can't seem to hate you. You stir up so many emotions in my heart. Some I've never felt before and others I haven't felt in years. I think I might've fallen in love with you the moment I laid eyes on you. That's why I was so upset when I realized you were a vampire. I couldn't understand how someone so beautiful could be a monster, but now I realize you're nothing like the monster that killed my family and turned me. The only thing I don't understand is how I couldn't sense that you were a vampire when we first met."

"Because she's not a full vampire. She's a fallen angel."

An irritated voice spoke from behind us. I turned around and saw Aidou staring at us, giving Zero the evil eye at how close he was to me. He quickly walked over to me, anger replaced with concern as he looked at me,

"Y/N are you okay? Did that guy hurt you?"

I shook my head,

"No he didn't. He gave me back my memories of what happened that night and what happened after I died. But what do you mean by I'm not full vampire?"

I asked curiously. I was well aware I  was a fallen angel, but I don't see what that has to do with anything,

"When you died, you became an angel because you gave your life for another. After you were cast out, you became a vampire again but were still able to maintain your angelic aura. That's why Zero couldn't sense your vampirism until later."

Aidou replied, causing me to tilt my head in confusion,

"How do you even know this?"

"Once I regained consciousness I rushed back to the academy and overheard Cross and Kaname talking in Cross's office. I hung back and listened in. I know about your parents, how you became an angel, your brother, everything."

He explained to me, I sighed,

"So you probably know that I was born to be his wife, then."

He nodded sadly,

"Yes, but I also know that you can't help who you fall in love with."

Before I could respond, Zero cut in,

"You two should probably be heading back to your dorm. It's almost dawn."

Aidou and I nodded in agreement,

"Okay. Bye, Zero!"

I exclaimed as I waved to him. He chuckled at my actions before raising his hand and waving back. I giggled as Aidou and I turned and made our way back towards the dorm. Before we entered, Aidou stopped me,

"Before we go in, I want to do this."

He gently lifted my chin and pressed his lips to mine in a soft, loving kiss. When he pulled back, he rested his head against my forehead,

"I was so worried about you. I'm glad you're okay."

He said quietly, stepping back from me and opening the door to the Moon Dorm. I had barely stepped through the door before Takuma ran up to me and pulled me into a tight hug,

"You're back! I was worried you weren't coming back after everything earlier!"

I laughed lightly and hugged him back,

"I promise I'm alright. I'm a little tired though, so I'd like to get some rest if that's okay with you."

He pulled back and nodded'

"Of course!"

He said happily, clearly elated that I was back in one piece. I laughed to myself as I went up the stairs to my room. when I entered, I was surprised to see Senri sitting on my bed,

"Senri? You okay?"

I asked softly, his head snapping up at the sound of my voice,

"Y/N."

He said quietly as he quickly closed the distance between us and pulled me into his warm embrace. I wrapped my arms around him and held him until he let go. When he finally did, he gazed into my E/C eyes and I gazed back into his. He looked s if he'd been crying and I felt my heart clench painfully. He began speaking in a hushed tone,

"I was so scared that something had happened to you. If you were hurt I don't know what--"

I gently placed my index finger over his lips, silencing him as I spoke,

"It's okay, Senri. I'm here now and I'm not going anywhere. I'll be more careful."

I said softly, causing him to smile as he went and sat back down on the bed, pulling me with him to lay next to him,

"Senri, what're you--"

I started to ask, but he cut me off,

"Let me stay here tonight. Please."

He sounded so upset and vulnerable I found myself agreeing to his request,

"Alright. You can stay as long as you like, Senri."

I replied as I gently held his hand before drifting off to sleep.

When I woke up the next morning, I saw that Senri had left and I heard frantic whispers outside my door. I quietly got up to listen in on the conversation outside, and heard Senri and Takuma arguing,

"Senri, I'm telling you for your own good. You need to back off."

Senri sighed at Takuma's statement before responding with venom,

"Well I'm not going to and you can't stop me, Takuma. Don't even try."

Takuma sighed in irritation at his friend,

Don't do it, Senri. Besides, I doubt she'd even want you, so don't get your heart broken."

Before he argument could escalate, I opened the door,

"Hey guys, what's up? Something wrong?"

I asked casually as both vampires seemed to regain their composure. Takuma smiled at me and returned to his usual polite tone,

"Good morning, Y/N.  I was just coming to tell you that Kaname wants a word with you in his office."

I nodded in understanding and began walking towards his office. When I was about to enter, Takuma stopped me,

"Y/N, I want to tell you something before you go in."

I turned to him,

"What's up?"

I asked him. He took a step closer to me and hesitated  a moment,

"Y/N...I--"

Right as he was about to say something, the office door opened to reveal Kaname standing there. He cast a chilly glance at Takuma before smiling at me,

"Y/N, please come in."

I said goodbye to Takuma and swiftly moved into the study, not sparing a glance at Kaname. I heard the door close softly and footsteps approaching me. I didn't speak as he approached,

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I was just afraid of you being hurt or killed or just losing you in general."

He sank to his knees in front of me and bowed his head, making my heart clench in pain,

"Please forgive me."

He said with a slightly uneven voice. I smiled softly down at him and knelt down so I was at his eye level

"I forgive you, Kaname. I was just upset that you lied to me."

I explained as I gripped his shoulders and pulled him up to stand with me. He smiled at me before his lips descended on mine in a passionate kiss. I was slightly stunned, but soon melted into the kiss happily. After a few moments, Kaname pulled back and smiled lovingly at me,

"I think it's time for us to go to class, don't you?"

I smiled back and nodded as we left his office and went downstairs where the others were waiting,

"Hey, guys."

I said cheerily. They smiled back as Aidou opened the front door for me,

"Allow me."

He said, sending me a wink that made me blush slightly. As we headed to class, I noticed that all the guys seemed tense.I thought it was weird but shrugged it off as i noticed Zero staring at me. I waved at him happily and he waved back, a slight smile on his face. After our small exchange, the air seemed even more tense around the vampires as we went to class. When we finally arrived i plunked down in a random seat. I had so many thoughts flying around my head I couldn't focus, so I decided to sneak out and walk around the courtyard. I came to a fountain and sat down,

"Y/N? You okay?"

I turned to see Akatsuki sitting next to me, concern in his eyes. I smiled at him,

"I'm alright."

i said casually but he gave me a look saying he didn't believe me,

"that might fool everyone else, but I know something's wrong. What is it?"

He asked me. I sighed and decided to tell him about Kaname lying to you. His gaze hardened the more I spoke,

"He had no right to keep that from you."

Akatsuki said darkly. I shrugged,

"I know, but We're okay now."

Akatsuki turned to look at me,

"I would never lie to you, Y/N, remember that."

He said seriously before kissing me on the cheek and walking off. I sat at the fountain for a little longer before I saw Zero coming over. He was hunched over and staggering. I rushed over to him and guided him to the fountain where he sat down. He dropped a small packet containing blood tablets and I looked at him,

"Zero! Are you okay? Can you not take the tablets?"

I asked frantically, my arm around his shoulders as he leaned into me. After a few moments, he looked up at me. His eyes were filled with pain and sorrow,

"My body rejects the tablets. I'm descending into a level E and I know it."

His voice was hoarse as he pulled out the bloody rose and handed it to me,

"I want you to kill me before I turn into a monster."

He spoke weakly. I held his face in my hands and forced him to look up at me,

"Listen to me Zero, I'm not going to kill you. You're not a monster and I'll do everything I can to keep you from falling to a level E."

I thought for a moment and, against my better judgement, moved my hair from my neck and pressed his head into the crook of my neck,

"Drink, Zero. It'll help. Please."

I begged him softly. He hesitated,

"No. I can't. Not from you."

He tried to move away but I held him in place,

"Please. If you won't do it for yourself, then do it for me. I don't want to watch you die Zero!"

Zero didn't respond, instead he used his left hand to gently grasp my right shoulder. He kissed my neck sweetly before sinking his fangs into my neck. I gasped slightly as my hand moved to hold the back of his head,

"It's okay. Don't feel bad. This doesn't make you a monster."

I said comfortingly as he continued to drink from me. After several minutes, he pulled back and looked at me. His eyes held a mixture of satisfaction and regret as his fangs receded. I smiled at him,

"It's okay. You didn't hurt me."

I reassured him. He smiled slightly at me,

"Thank you, Y/N."

His tone held a deep affection for me and I smiled warmly at him,

"If you ever need blood, don't be ashamed to tell me. I know you think you're a monster, but you aren't. Being a vampire doesn't make you a monster. It's what you do as a vampire that makes you a monster. The same goes for humans. It's the choices we make that define who we are."

I told him as I reached forward to squeeze his shoulder comfortingly. He pulled me into his warm embrace and placed a small kiss on my forehead,

"You should probably head back before Kaname sends a search party."

He commented sadly. I smiled at him,

"Alright. If you ever need me, please come tell me."

I said softly before heading back to class
