*one month later*

A month after our house fire and to say me and Ellie were doing okay would be the biggest lie ever. Anja tried almost everyday to cheer us up but I was sinking under a wave of depression and Ellie was petrified about going out without someone with her. I didn't have to worry about that as I hadn't left the house since the day of the fire, there was no point. Thorin brought work home for me which was just about the only thing I could force myself to do before laying back down in bed and staring at the ceiling.

"Rebecca please you need to talk to me."

Thorin said, everyday he'd try and talk to me, and everyday I just had no energy or will to talk.

"I'm fine Thorin."

I said forcing a smile before turning back around and closing my eyes.

I should be happy, I should be grateful. I'm in a universe with Tolkien characters and Thorin Oakenshield loved me.
Which just made me feel worse because I couldn't appreciate it, you can't really appreciate anything when all you feel like is a waste of space.

The fire was my fault, this whole thing was my fault. I should have been there to protect Ellie, it should never have happened.

"Ellie please talk to her."

I heard Thorin say, desperation in his voice.

"Why are you sad, I'm out of the way now, get on with your life and don't worry about me, I'm fine."

I said rolling over to face Thorin who was standing by the door.

He just sighed and ran his hand through his beautiful black hair.

"Becca please... Just come outside with us, just this once."

Ellie said almost pleading with me.

I got up and grabbed a jacket, walking next to Thorin as Ellie, Fee and Kee walked out of the door in front of us.

"Maybe some fresh air will help."

Thorin said holding my hand lightly.

I took a deep breath in, and he was right in some sense, I had missed this. The smell of dam grass, the feel of the slight breeze in the air, and the sunlight shining down on my face.
I looked over to Ellie and Fíli who had their arms wrapped around each other and their faces millimetres apart. The sound of Ellie's laughter filled the air as Fíli turned to kiss her under an Oak tree.
I turned to Thorin and smiled.

"May I have a kiss my beautiful?"

Thorin said stopping under the Oak tree.
I didn't bother answering just leaning forward and meeting my lips to his.

"God I've missed this."

I said smiling after what felt like years worth of sadness.
I wrapped my arm around Thorin's waste and carried on walking after Ellie and the Durins.

"Hey guys, do you want to come back to mine and hang out."

A voice said from a van which had just pulled up.

"Hey Libby, sure."

I said causing everyone to look at me surprised.
Thorin smiled at me and opened the van doors.

"Hop in, it's not that far."

She said as I sat down next to Thorin and rested my head on his shoulder.
As my eyes closed in exhaustion I could feel Thorin's gentle pull on my hair as he braided it.

Ellie's POV

We finally did it, we got Becca out of the house and she already looked happier.

"Hey lion."

I said kissing Fee on his nose.

"Hey princess."

He said making me giggle, if only he knew.

"Um hey love birds sorry to interrupt but what's that??!"

Kíli said looking nervously at the floor where a white gas had started seeping through.

"I think it's sleeping..."

Fíli said before passing out.

"Fee? FEE! Wake up!!"

I said as my head started spinning.
I saw Thorin pass out against Becca, as Kíli tried to help me wake Fíli.

"Kee..."

Was all I said before the world spun around me and I fell to the floor next to Fíli, still holding his hand.
