Five Year Skip

It's been five years since that summer, and a lot has changed with Emily.

For instance, she's graduated and is working full time at Google with her friends. She's written about a thousand more love songs that have blown up all over the world. Oh, and she and Stuart are getting married.

At the moment Team Google, which is what they call themselves now, were all in Texas getting ready for the wedding. And to say that they were just as baffled as they were when time the team came down for Christmas the first year, that would be an understatement. But this time they had to do more than explore, they had to get ready for a Texas wedding.

Emily had to help them condition their stomachs for a Texas wedding BBQ. Because if there is anything Texas is known for, it's their meat. And at a real Texan wedding there are at least 12 different kinds of meat, and in a lot of different forms. Buffet dinners were the usual, and almost everyone always brought something or other to eat.

She had to teach them the Texas two Step, and that had to be Emily's favorite part of the whole thing, watching as her team mates either fell on their asses or just had fun with it. But despite none of them knowing what they were doing they had fun with it, and that's all that mattered.

Having them make the Groom's cake, that was a fun part that Emily loved. She loved watching Stuart argue with her family over why he needed his own cake, and them trying to explain to him what it was, and how it was a part of Texas tradition.

The groom's cake is one of the cherished Texas wedding traditions that usually added a unique touch to the wedding celebration. Of course, the traditional white wedding cake remained the centerpiece of the dessert table, but the groom's cake is just a chance for the groom to showcase his personality and interests with some out-of-the-box wedding desserts.

Whether in the shape of a golf club, decorated with the emblem of a beloved fraternity, or made in the image of a favorite sports team, the groom's cake was always a crowd-pleaser. It was a great tradition that honored the groom, making it known that the day wasn't just about the bride. Plus, it added a fun and unique element to the wedding reception.

And when Emily's dad brought out the shot gun in frustration that the city boy wasn't getting it, Emily finally got in the middle of it as Stuart dived to hide behind her.

"He's crazy!" Lyle said, jumping back.

"Woah!" Billy said, backing up as the rest of them did the same.

"Of course he is, he was born and raised in Texas." Emily said to Lyle with a roll of her eyes, calm as if this was an everyday thing. And it pretty much was.

Grand Entrance. In the Midwest, the Grand Entrance into the reception is kind of a thing. The parents, wedding party, and the couple are announced with a big musical fanfare. Usually there is dancing or the bridesmaids throw their flower bouquets to the groomsman and the Bride to the other women, or bride and groomsmen plan a fun dance for everyone to watch. It's almost always cringy and awkward, and no one ever knows what they are going to do until 30 seconds before it happens, but it's always very entertaining for the guests and sets the tone for how fun the party will be.

And just like every Texan wedding, it would naturally be everyone with in a twenty mile radius of the town. So it would be a very big wedding. And while neither of them were very religious they had their wedding inside Emily's childhood church, because just about everyone went to Church in Texas, no matter what religion or belief they had, they went to church.

There were about a million other things from both Texan traditions and Stuart's own family traditions they had to mix together, and while it was crazy and Wilde, they did it. And Emily couldn't stop smiling the whole time.

Except that day her brothers, sister, and parents insisted on taking Team Google out hunting. Poor Yo-Yo left with two full Eye brows and returned with two drawn on. He hadn't done the plucking this for a couple of years by this point, but Emily's family drove him to start again.

When they finally got to the wedding day they couldn't be more excited.

Emily and her brideamaide's, which consisted of Neha, Lyle's girlfriend and Emily's friend Marielena, Emily's sister Eve, and her childhood best friend Charity, were all ready by 5 P.M. to get going.

And when it was time for them to go down Emily was talked down by her father, and was met with a crying Stuart at the end.

But before they could start Stuart spoke up.

"Wait, you're missing one thing." He said and everyone looked at them in confusion. "Something old, borrowed and blue." He said, taking out his blue bennie, causing Emily to giggle as he put it on her head before she shook it in amusement.

When it got to the vows Stuart went first.

"Emily. You've been my best friend, my conscience, my happiness. I'll be the first to admit I never thought I'd make it to this day. I was a loner who loved his phone as much as oxygen when we met. And I always thought this was going to be the most difficult thing I had to do, but when I saw you walking down that aisle I realized how simple it was. I love you. Any surprises that come our way, it's okay because I will always love you. You are the person I am meant to spend the rest of my life with. I knew that the moment I saw you five years ago at Google. I'd been a follower on your page for a couple of years by then and, I'll admit I had a crush on you- who wouldn't? But the moment we met in person, I fell for you. I knew I'd give you the moon if you wanted it, and I still would. All throughout my last year of College I was asked by many different people 'Why not give other girls a chance before this time of your life is over?' 'Why dedicate everything to one girl you knew for only a couple months and you now rarely ever see?' and I never really knew what to tell them. But as I'm standing here now, I finally have an answer; because for me, it's always been you. I want you. Only you, forever." He told her and she smiled, blushing as red as a tomato. "You're turn." He said and she laughed, putting her face in her hands in slight embarrassment at how red her face was.

"Okay, um... Stuart, I can't imagine loving you more than I do right now, but I felt that way yesterday, and the day before yesterday, and the day before that. Stormy, I don't know what the future holds, but I know that I've never been happier than I am at this moment, marrying you. Five years ago I was in the zone. I was writing on a dry erase board, stepping on the back of the couch and walking all over you, trying to win the first competition to work at Google. And I remember that when we lost I went to my dorm to try and calm down, because everyone knows how messed up I get in a competitive environment. That's why I'm not allowed to play Football anymore. And I don't know, it's just something about the way you showed up at my dorm door step, asking if I was okay, willing to help me calm down any way you could, it made me fall for you instantaneously. And I never really understood the feelings I had, I didn't understand any of it until that night that Nick and Billy dragged everyone out to get some air and clear our heads, and then we ended up at the strip club. I don't know how, but being drunk off my ass, and watching you with that one woman, oh I don't know, I guess being that jealous just made me finally realize that I loved you. I thought that a job at Google was everything I could ever want, and it was. Because in getting the job I gained my best friends, and the man before me who I'm happy to call my husband. Or will be in five minutes." She said, getting a small laugh.

"The world really opens up to a lot of possibilities when you look up three inches, huh?" Stuart said, and Emily giggled, nodding her head.

"It really does." She agreed with amusement.

As the day passed by the first dance came and the two took it to the floor, with Emily singing the song she wrote for them.

"He's a phone call to his parents
He's a bible by the bed
He's the t-shirt that I'm wearing
He's a song stuck in my head
He's solid and he's steady
Like the Allegheny runs
He knows just where he's going
And he's proud of where he's from

One of the good ones
He's one of the good ones

A love me like he should one
Like he wrote the book one
The kind you find when you don't even look one
Anybody can be good once
But he's good all the time
He's one of the good ones
And he's all mine
He's one of the good ones

You'll know him when you see him
By the way he looks at me
You'd say he hung the moon
I'd say he hung the galaxy
Nobody does it better
Oh the way he pulls me in
I've known a couple bad ones
But they all led me to him

He's one of the good ones

A love me like he should one
Like he wrote the book one
The kind you find when you don't even look one
Anybody can be good once
But he's good all the time
He's one of the good ones
And he's all mine
He's one of the good ones

We should all find us one
They're out there, minus one
Some of the good ones
Yeah I got a good one

A love me like he should one
Like he wrote the book one
The kind you find when you don't even look
Anybody can be good once
But he's good all the time
He's one of the good ones
And he's all mine
He's one of the good ones
And he's all mine"

It was safe to say that they were going to be happy for the rest of their lives. How could they not be? Perfect job, amazing friends, and the love of their life next to them every step of the way. As far as they were concerned, they were living the dream.

The End.
