Task Two

When it came time for the next task a few days had passed. Days where Stuart and Emily both questioned what to do about what how they felt. About what they wanted- no, needed, from each other. The rest of the team could practically smell the tension off the two, and they wondered what happened, but none of them dared to ask.

When the day popped up it was clear that this task was going to be more different than they thought. Because this one, was a sport. Quidditch from Harry Potter.

Team Lyle were all in mismatched clothes, whereas Graham's team, who they were up against, all had matching outfits on. Team Lyle would be representing hufflepuff, which suited them quite well as a team.

"Really?" Stuart asked, looking at the words on Emily's shirt.

"Yep." She nodded with a bright smile. "It's how I run."

"Who's hot and whose creepy?" Neha asked, amused.

"A lot of people, Neha. A lot of people." She said vaguely, her eyes landing on Stuarts who was burning a whole onto her head, before they both quickly looked away.

"Right..." Lyle said, looking between the two.

"What does this have to do with anything?" Nick asked no one in particular, they hadn't gone onto the field yet and they were waiting behind to go on. He looked at his red broomstick with confusion, and then shrugged.

"I have no clue." Emily shrugged also, putting her broomstick on the floor so she could pull her hair into a ponytail. She preferred having her hair down, running her fingers through it, she thought she looked prettier that way too. But when it came to working out she always thought having it up was better, it made her feel less hot.

Stuart thought otherwise, he thought that Emily looked beautiful with her hair up, and he could see her whole face when she wore it like that. He didn't know why the thought crossed his mind, he almost slapped himself for thinking that. He couldn't like Emily, not at all, they were just a one time sex thing. But if that were true why did he keep thinking about last week.

"Em, what's that?" Neha asked, pointing at a spot on the back of Emily's shoulder.

"What?" She asked, frowning , trying to turn to look.

"Looks like a hickey. Or a really weird shaped bruise." Billy added in, looking at it.

"I burnt myself with my hair straightener the other day." Emily shrugged, lying easily. She didn't know that was there. Mostly because she always either had her hair down and it covered it, or because she wore a jacket or a long sleeve shirt.

"Really? Hair straightener?" Stuart asked, an amused look on his face.

"Yes. It happens more than you'd think. I over heat my hair sometimes, and sometimes I get a bit too close to my skin when going down, it's not a big deal." She said with a shrug.

"Okay..."

"Guys it's teamwork, and team Lyle is gonna kill it out there! We're gonna crash this party!" Lyle tried to lift the teams spirits, but everyone just gave him a weird look or glare. "Okay, it's still in beta."

"Stuart, how can you still be wearing your beanie? I don't think I've ever seen you without it." Neha said as she put a blue sweatband on her head, she was getting really competitive. Emily remembered that he actually had taken it off before, after the last challenge when they were in her room, and she wanted to touch his hair again. It was surprisingly really soft. She again told herself off in her mind for thinking about that. Why do I even care enough to remember? It was a one time thing, and I don't even like Stuart. Emily thought, shaking her head at herself.

"I don't go anywhere without my beanie, I will wear it if I please." Stuart rolled his eyes, a thing he definitely tended to do a lot. It just comes with the sarcasm, and other things...

"Well okay then." Neha laughed.

"I don't understand this game." Yo-Yo had never looked so confused.

"Yo-Yo, you wing it. That's how I get through life." Billy informed him, although the advice wasn't all that great.

"Okay guys we're about to go on the field now. Team Lyle!" Lyle yelled, no one responded apart from a small cheer from Neha and a single clap from Emily.

"I have to ask though before we go- Are you going turn scary again or are we safe?" Yo-Yo asked, turning to Emily.

"Depends on if you suck at this game or not. Either way, we're about to find out." Emily shrugged, and with a sigh they ran into the cheering crowd, with Lyle leading the whole team out onto the pitch and they all ran on with their broomsticks in their hands. There were three hoops at each end and three balls in the middle, and that's where the teams met and Sid was there as the referee. Emily didn't hear anything he was saying, she was too concentrated on giving Graham a glare who was stood opposite her. They then went into a circle in their teams for a pre-game prep talk.

"Okay, rules. The beaters toss the bludgers at the chasers before they can get the quaffle through the three rings. No imperious curses. In the unlikely event of a dementor attack, use a potronus charm. I recommend the stag but that's just a personal decision-" Lyle started rambling about how to play the game, but of course they weren't actually going to be flying on their brooms and they didn't have magic wands.

"My potronus is a mink." Emily told the slightly older guy who gave her an impressed look.

"Cool-"

"Lyle, Em!" Neha started, cutting them off. "These beautiful idiots have no idea what you're talking about, use your muggle words, come on." She gestured to Billy, Nick, Stuart and Yo-Yo who had the funniest looks of confusion on their faces, causing Emily to giggle in amusement.

"Come on Lyle you're making me feel like I'm back in math class. You've got a couple of savants here with eye-hand coordination. Just say game on and let us play!" Nick told him, he already looked out of breath just from running on to the field.

"Fair enough. Version 2.0; peg them with the kick balls before they throw the volley ball through the hoop. Brooms in people, hufflepuff on three. 1, 2, 3." Lyle said quickly.

"Hufflepuff!" The whole team yelled, apart from Stuart who looked like he'd rather be anywhere other than here.

"Yeah son! Yeah let's get it!" Lyle yelled as they then ran to the back line to start, ready to begin the game.

They heard Graham yelling "no mercy" from the other side of the pitch to his team. He was taking it so seriously.

"Brooms up!" Sid yelled, signalling that the game had began. Everyone sprinted towards the balls in the middle, trying to get them first. Of course Graham's team got them first, already scoring within the first ten seconds.

They ran forward, blue team getting the balls first, and scoring. The blue team just kept scoring, more and more, with Team Lyle all confused on what the hell to do.

The only one actually playing with any common sense was Emily, and even then it wasn't good enough with one person against a whole team.

"Lyle!" Emily yelled and he passed her the ball, she turned and tossed it to Stuart. Only to later realize her was on his phone when the ball hit him upside the head, causing him to look up and around, confused and baffled.

"What the hell was that?" He questioned, confused.

"Why don't you try looking up and giving a shit, man?!" Neha shouted, annoyed.

"Oh my god okay!" Stuart said in a typical mocking voice, making Emily snicker who stood a few meters from him, having gone of to yell herself.

"She's right you know." She said, dodging a kick ball that was thrown at her.

"Oh shut up Emily." Stuart rolled his eyes, again, shoving his phone in his pocket.

"I thought you liked it when I was loud?" She asked in fake confusion, causing hims to reached over and try to smack her arm, and for her to move out of his way. Her and Stuart then noticed

Billy was getting annoyed and confused, he was swinging his broom around trying to hit people with it.

"Who did I hit? I wanna hit somebody!" Billy was yelling.

"Oh dear God." She groaned in annoyance. "I'm going to end up having another meltdown." She said, reaching up to run her fingers through her hair, only to realize it was still in a ponytail.

"Keep calm, it'll be fine." Stuart told her, and she nodded, trying to take a deep breath.

Sid blew the whistle, running towards Billy. "Keep the broom in between the legs folks!"

"Okay my bad. Lesson learned, lesson learned, let's go let's go!" Billy yelled, putting the broomstick with the red handle back where it should be.

"What the hell does this have to do with computers?" Nick questioned, and Emily agreed in her mind, but carried on playing anyway.

"Move fatty!" Graham yelled to Zach, who was on his team, so he could get out the way and he could score. Nick tried doing a dive to block it but he failed miserably, falling to the ground.

Graham ran around the pitch and gave everyone high fives. He somehow ended up next to Emily, and stood really close to her.

"Well this is embarrassing for you isn't it? Better get your team together before we win. Oh wait, you have no chance." Graham whispered to her, Emily felt very uncomfortable and removed her broom from her legs and pointed it at him.

"Don't make me shove this up your ass." She told him, before walking away with an eye roll.

Stuart felt a pang of hurt of some kind in his chest as he saw how close Graham was to Emily. It can't be jealousy, no way, he thought. Pulling his beanie down he let out an agitated sigh and questioned why he was getting all of these feelings that he couldn't understand.

"Time out!" Billy yelled after the blue team scored again.

"Time!" Sid blew the whistle to signal a timeout and the teams got back together for another pep talk. The current scores were; team Graham - 70 and team Lyle - 0. They had to get their act together if they wanted to be successful.

"Bring it in guys come on let's huddle up!" Lyle yelled, bringing the team together again.

"It's over." Neha shook her head in disappointment.

"Yeah, our team's a joke." Stuart agreed, taking his beanie off and throwing it on to the floor. There it is, Emily thought, the questionable urge to touch his hair again.

"Well I ain't laughing, what about you Billy?" Nick said, then turned to Billy who stood next to him as always.

"Hell no." Billy said as it was the most obvious answer.

"Listen we need to get our minds right and start believing." Nick started.

"This reminds me of a little girl who had to get her head right and start believing. A little girl from a steel town who had the dream to dance." Billy started, and everyone knew it was story time. "No one believed in that little welder girl, but thank god she believed in herself."

"Are you talking about Flashdance? That movie from the 80s?" Stuart questioned with that constant look of disgust crossed with confusion.

"Yeah you're damn right I am." Billy said quickly as soon as Stuart stopped talking. "That's exactly what I'm talking about."

"Got it." Stuart sighed, clearly not wanting Billy to continue.

"You know how she overcame those odds? She believed in herself and trying. She literally had to become a maniac." Billy continued, he'd never looked so serious about something he was saying since the interns had met him. Maybe that's why they were listening so carefully to his words.

"Have any of you ever been called a maniac? Maybe because you're a little bit different?" Nick questioned them.

"Yes. Every family game night." Emily said, nodding as she picked at her shirt, trying to do something with her hands so she didn't lash out at the fact they were losing.

"That doesn't surprise me." Stuart said and Emily gave a fake laugh before hitting his arm.

"Ow..." He muttered, rubbing his arm with a frown.

"My mom calls me a maniac every night when I tell her I love her." Yo-Yo admitted.

"Course she does Yo-Yo! And of course they do, Em! You are a little bit, in a good way! And guess what, Bill Gates, they called him a maniac too." Nick said, squinting from the sun.

"No question." Billy said in agreement.

"Yeah I don't think anyone ever really called him a maniac..." Neha said slowly.

"Well I just called him a maniac."

"You guys are getting off the point here! She had to strip down in to next to nothing, she had to sit in that chair and arch her back. She pulled the chain out of nowhere and doused herself with water!" Billy said, getting everyone's attention again.

"Yeah where did that water come from?" Nick asked.

"Who knows?" Billy said, shrugging.

"It came from her belief that it was there!" Nick said, sticking his arm in the air.

"She believed so hard she found herself with an audition in front of those stuffed shirts at the dance school. And she spun, oh and she spun. And she spun, and she spun, and she spun herself into that dance school. And she spun herself into our hearts." Billy had a whole lot of enthusiasm, and although this speech was confusing, it gave everyone else a little bit of enthusiasm too. They all felt prepared for anything.

"Now in the second half of whatever in the hell you guys call this game, can't we all be that little welder girl who wants to be something more?" Everyone nodded their heads. "Now look, I know you guys aren't excited that were on your team. But we're here, guys were in this thing together and I'm asking you to believe in yourselves. Believe in each other." The members of the team looked at each other with smiles, even Stuart and Emily did. "Now lets put on our leg warmers and dance our asses off."

"Come on you loveable maniacs get in here." Nick said, making the team gather in a tighter circle.

"All right, now I got an idea that I think would make Bear Bryant smile." Billy said, pulling them all into a huddle.

"No idea who that is, but we're listening." Neha told the man.

The second half began, and team Lyle were feeling a whole lot more confident with this whole game. They were actually scoring points, Stuart used his phone screen to blind someone, with a sun glare, the other team. It worked and she ducked out the way, making room so Emily could score. Stuart put his fist in the air and brought it down whilst yelling out a loud "yes!"

They all worked as a team, blocking the blue team's goals and scoring plenty, passing them to each other. Lyle kicked the ball from the floor towards Yo-Yo who used the end of his broomstick to score another goal.

"Eat it Malfoy! Suck it!" Lyle yelled towards Graham.

Stuart stopped someone from team Graham from scoring, by jumping really high and literally slapping the ball out of the way. Everyone on team Lyle cheered loudly, and it made Emily happy to see that Stuart was getting into this.

The scores ended up being 70-70, it was a tie when the game ended. But it wasn't over, a guy dressed in a golden skin tight suit ran onto the pitch and started dancing, he had a tail on the back.

"It's the golden snitch!" Lyle yelled, pointing at it.

"Who the fuck is this now?" Nick asked, baffled by the dancing, kind of creepy, guy.

One of Graham's team was on the floor for some reason and Sid was seeing what was the matter.

"Get the tennis ball and we win!" Lyle told the team who nodded, staring at the snitch guy who was now wagging the tail, which the ball was in to represent the snitch, between his legs at an odd angle.

Graham looked at Emily with a glare who was closest so she decided she would run. The two of them chased after the boy dressed in gold, Emily heard encouraging yells from her team behind her, which only made her run faster. She was way in front before Graham grabbed the end of her broomstick and yanked it upward, causing her to fall. Before she could move he stepped onto her back and jumped upwards, tackling the snitch guy and grabbing the ball, meaning his team had won.

As she still laid on the floor in pain, she heard Billy arguing with Sid about that being "illegal" but he didn't see it so he couldn't call it.

Stuart was the first to rush to her side, as she was trying to sit up slowly.

"Are you okay?" He asked, a look of worry was on his face, a look Emily had never seen before on his face.

"I think." Emily squinted, rubbing her head. She tried to stand up but only fell down again, Stuart caught her and put his arm around her to hold her up. "Hello. Didn't think we'd be in this position again."

"Oh ha ha. You're not okay, I'll take her to the nurse." Stuart said to the others, and they all nodded. They started walking off the pitch, and Emily had Stuart to lean on as she felt unsteady.

"Why are you being nice to me, don't you hate me or something?" Emily asked, raising an eyebrow at Stuart. His cheeks flushed ever so slightly, luckily Emily didn't see. "I mean, come on, I taunt you, and tease you, I take your phone, I make you socialize." She listed off and he gave a small laugh. Not a sarcastic one, but a real one.

"No, I don't hate you. I find you annoying, but I don't hate you." He told her and she smiled slightly.

"You know, being called annoying isn't half bad when it comes from a friend like you." She told him in amusement as they reached the nurses office.

When they left Emily had been told it was just a bruise where Graham had used her as a human step stool and a slight ankle twist. An hour and her foot would be fine, but the bruise might be sore for a few days.

When Stuart helped get Emily back to her room the two went in and sat down, just to talk a bit.

"I can't believe it's already been three weeks that we've been here." She said, shaking her head.

"I know, it feels like it has only been three or four days." Stuart said with a slight laugh, glancing at the girl who was staring at her hands in her lap.

Emily had already taken down her ponytail when they were waiting for the nurse, and now it was falling down all around her face. He could barely see her face with the way her hair was fallen around it. So he reached over and moved her hair away, causing her to look up at him.

"Hi." She said, suddenly very aware of how close they were.

"Hi." He said back, looking at her eyes.

It hit the both of them at that moment just how much they really did like each other. No matter how much they didn't want to admit it, they did. And it sucked, because if they didn't get the job then they would probably never see each other again and this would just fall into 'the thing I did that summer', and it sucked. It really sucked. Emily didn't want to start something she knew wouldn't last at least a year, and she knew long distance stuff never worked out after a while, and she didn't want that to happen with a guy like Stuart.

Then there was the whole 'what if he doesn't like me too' thing. In fact it was going through both of their heads, they knew they'd slept together, but some friends can do that and still not have feelings. But at this moment that was far from the case, they just didn't know it yet.

But right now, at this moment, they didn't care as they leaned in and smashed their lips to each other. Emily slowly leaned back with Stuart leaning over her, and Emily pulled away slightly, but they were still close enough that their lips were brushing as she spoke softly.

"This seems to be a losing thing. Every time we lose we find ourselves in this position, this going to be the last time or and everything?" She asked him teasingly taking his bennie off his head and tossing it elsewhere.

"I don't know. But I like that possibility." He shrugged, kissing her again. She didn't know what he meant, but she was too caught in the kiss to care or ask.

So instead she reached up, placing her hands under his shirt before slowly trailing them around to his back and pushing him down onto her more as he started planting kisses down her throat and chest, most of the makeup she placed over the bruises and hickeys from last time had already faded from all of her sweat from the game.

(I really, really, like being evil)
