Trust Me
*Three months later*
You weren't the same after that day, though everyone tried to comfort you just stood there emotionless. You couldn't think, everything reminded you of Law. You just spent days staring out the window like a statue. Your body didn't feel right either. Ace visited sometimes. You had asked him why he saved you when you were able to speak again. He just gave you that sad frown and said. "Because he sacrificed his life to save you, I didn't want it to go to waste."
Sabo visited too, your poor guardian angel who had no idea what to do to help you. He brought you some treats, hoping they would cheer you up or something. He even offered to take your memories of Law away. Bad idea. You snapped on the poor angel at the mention of it. Haven't really seen him since. Your dad tried to make you cookies but only ended up trashing the kitchen. You were just over everything.
Zoro marches into your room making you blink in surprise. "You're going to school tomorrow," He tells you.
"....No," You huff. He frowns, and looms over you.
"___ D. Donquixote, you are going to school tomorrow even if I have to bathe and cloth you myself." He rumbles, folding his arms.
"You wouldn't dare," You growl. He gives a smile which wasn't quite his.
"Try. Me." He growls still smiling. And you just had to try him.
You were in shock as he set you back down on your bed. He really did it. And he didn't even seemed bothered by it. Your mind whirled for answers for your questions. One stuck out above all. "Who... Who are you?" You breathe. He blinks and shifts nervously.
"Ah, I knew it was too out of character..." He muses, changing into your guardian angel. You scowl at Sabo as he avoids eye contact, scratching his cheek.
"Sabo," You begin, rubbing your temple, really glad that he wasn't really Zoro.
"___, please trust me. Go to school tomorrow, please." He murmurs, sinking down to your level.
"Fine, but don't you ever do that again," You tell him, pinching his nose. He smiles brightly at that.
"Really!? Yess!!" He gasps, suddenly hugging you. "I promise you won't regret it! I think.... See you in the morning!!" He chimes before vanishing in a flicker of light. You sigh and turn out the light and flop back on your bed, staring at the ceiling eventually letting sleep take you.
You woke up an hour before your alarm clock, panting and crying. You had dreamt of that day again. You hug your pillow, crying into it. You hated this. You had been so close to escaping, and yet...
"Love sure seems painful," A familiar voice makes you peer up from your pillow at the ex-commander.
"Hey Ace..." You murmur, wiping away your tears. He offers a smile.
"I heard you're going to school today," He rumbles.
"Sabo told you huh?" You guess. He gives a nod and snickers.
"If I had known that he was gonna bathe you I would've been here a lot sooner," He muses with a wink. You shake your head, a small smile tugging your lips. He smiles more, "Oh! Look at that! A ghostly smile!... That's what you call those right? Or is it poltergeist smile?" Ace wonders, slightly confused.
"Heh... Ghost of a smile you mean, now get out so I can get ready for school," You tell him getting out of bed.
"Can I help like Sabo did??" He inquires leaning closer. You push his face away, a chuckle escaping you.
"I'm gonna kick your brother's ass for that later, don't make me say a prayer," You retort. He pouts against your hand.
"Fine, fine, I'll just go beat your dad at poker again," He rumbles before flying out. You take in a deep breath before getting dressed. You pick up your pack and put it on, pausing briefly then continuing out. Your dad looks up as you come into the kitchen and smiles.
"Ace said you were going to school today, but Im still surprised." He muses.
"Well Sabo went to great lengths to get me to go so might as well see what he wants me to see," You reply with a shrug. Ace chuckles, tail swishing behind him. Your dad lifts a questioning eyebrow but neither of you clarify. You make breakfast and eat half of it (a certain freckled face demon ate the other half) and get up.
"Whelp! You go on ahead! Have fun!" Ace chimes shooing you out. You give him a look before heading out.
You were halfway to school when you hear your backpack unzip. You pause and look back just as a good portion of your make up homework is pulled out and yanked away in a gust of wind. "Shit!" You gasp, chasing after the papers. They lead you through a back yard into a street. Headlights pant over and as you're looking over, an arm wraps around your waist and pulls you back onto the sidewalk. You and your savior fall on your butts, panting slightly.
"That, was really close Miss," An all too familiar voice states as a tan and tattooed hand catches your papers as they drift over. You slowly turn your head as his silver orbs go over the papers. "Oh, I think I have a few of these classes." He muses, silver eyes drifting to you as a smirk pulls on his lips.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Trafalgar Law."
