Chapitre 24

Hey, I wanted to apologize if the chapters don't update very fast, it's just that I'm stressed about exams coming soon so I'm not feeling very motivated and I don't want to rush the story, hope you understand.
-------------------------------------------------------------

(Y/N) Pov:

You stayed here, dumbfounded, for a couple of seconds. You wanted to scream in your mind, 'Not again!?' like seriously, is this fake title gonna follow you for your entire life?

But, even if you had enough of this nickname, you were confused of how this woman knew it. You didn't recognise someone like her and she didn't seem to know you personally either.

-"Uhm..." How were you supposed to respond to that? You were the person she talked about but you didn't want her to think that you were really an angel. She was still looking at you with expecting eyes and her daughter was at her side, still confused about everything. You were more on the little girl's side.

-"Well kinda? I mean, people tend to call me by that name even if I'm not a real angel." You said while scratching your neck, still embarrassed about the whole thing.

-"So you really are..." She mumbled at herself, disbelief on her voice. You coughed in your fist, trying to bring you enough confidence to just ask a simple question.

-"If I may ask... How do you know that name? Or even knew it was me?" You asked her, confusion in your voice. She seemed hesitant to answer.

"I... Found out thanks to this letter..." She said, holding out a paper to you. With no surprise the writing was in German.

-"It's my husband who wrote it to me to tell me he'll be back at home after he got injured permanently. He mentioned an angel that he encountered during the battle where he got hurt." She looked down.

-"It's the last letter he sent to me. I was worried since he mentioned that a lot of people thought he had gone crazy since the moment he mentioned that angel. I would have considered it too if he didn't gave me such a precise description of what his angel looked like. It matched perfectly your appearance, that's how I knew it was you." She ended explaining,, her eyes were teary, I was sad for her since it was the last news she got from her husband.

But, you couldn't help but think... The story of her husband matched perfectly Christoph's before you met him once again... Could it be? After all, he talked to you about his family before but maybe he didn't had time to write another letter? Not without mentioning all the events that happened in the meantime of a couple of days, it would be logical that he couldn't find the time to send a letter, not without the censorship of the war.

You looked down at the little girl, it would explain all the familiarities she gave you. You breathed in and looked back at the woman, you didn't want to do assumptions too quickly nor upset the woman.

-"Excuse me... But I have another question." She looked at you then nodded, waiting for your question.

-"What is your husband's name?" She looked quite surprised at your question and you started to think that her tears were gonna fall out before she sighed.

-"His... His name was Christoph." She said... Her voice shaky. That pinched your heart a bit since she said 'was' instead of 'is', you knew it was because she didn't have any news from him. You wanted to tell her that he was fine, that you healed his scars and that he could walk just fine, but you didn't see him since the day where you got shot, there were a lot of soldiers who died back there, you didn't want to give her false hope even if it ached your heart to think that your friend was no more.

-"Why are you asking this exactly?" She asked you, you softened your eyes.

-"Because I know him." You told her, her eyes widened.

-"Wha- How? He just mentioned seeing you a brief moment, how could you know him personally?" She said, clearly distressed. (Not me thinking about all the people who simps for him in the comments) You sighed.

-"I met him again a few days later, it's his friend Berthold who lead me to him since I was worried about his injuries. After this moment I would spend all nights- I mean all days with them." You explained, you didn't want to explain to her all the thing with your dreams etc so you just cut the subject. She seemed surprised at your answer.

-"Berthold... Yes he was one of the closest friends of Christoph, but he didn't mention meeting you." Okay, there's two things. First, you wanted to scream at her to stop her from using the past in her sentences about your friends and second,  you wanted to thank Berthold to not mention you, you didn't want that a whole town or something starts calling you an angel, it's starting to really annoy you. Aren't angels supposed to be holy and pure? Like, don't look through my Wattpad historic! Uhm, moving on...

-"Mommy!" We were surprised by the little girl yelling to her mother. The woman (I'm too tired to look for a name, sorry) kneeled at her daughter's size with furrowed eyebrows.

-"Dear, you shouldn't scream in a cemetery, it's disrespectful." She lectured her, you facepalmed. Were you really chit-chatting in a cemetery? Yes, yes you were. The little girl pouted and crossed he arms (still making sure her flowers didn't fall off).

-"But I've been calling you for hours now!" The mother sighed before standing up.

-"Sorry sweetie, why were you calling me?"

-"I want you to tell me who's that person, how come you know them but not me?" The daughter asked, still pouting.

-"I don't know them personally, sweetie, it's the first time I meet them. But... They were a friend of your father." She told her, her daughter gasped, her eyes shined with admiration.

-"You were a friend of daddy?!" She asked you, excitement in her voice, you wanted to melt, she was so cute! She turned towards her mother.

-"Mommy, can we go with them today?" She asked with pleading eyes, the woman started to smile slightly, but you could see the sad look she had in her eyes.

-"Of course sweetie." She said quietly. That was good but you didn't know where you were going but the little girl seemed to know since she handed you the flowers she had in her hands.

-"Here! Don't drop them okay!" She told you, you nodded, holding the bunch of flowers in one hand. The little girl took your other hand and started leading you towards your destination.

You were getting more and more distressed seeing she leaded the both of you between the rows of graves. You saw she still had a smile on her face, surely she was too young to understand what they represented.

She suddenly took you out of the principal alley before engulfing both of you in a small row of graves before stopping completely at one in particular.

You raised an eyebrow at the little girl, she turned to look at you, she still had a smile on her face, even if it had gotten smaller than earlier. You looked at the grave in front of you, before widening your eyes completely.
