Part 1
Please Note:
" - " means that there is a new scene.
" ~ " marks the beginning/ending of Yoongi's dreams.
-
He was a very focused man.
Every morning he would do the same thing over and over again. Wake up, eat, take a shower, get coffee, work, go home, eat, sleep, repeat.
Min Yoongi never did like his job. He's stuck being scolded by his boss and customers being rude to him. To say that he liked his life would be very slim to being true. Doing the same thing every day and not having to use any real talents is just useless to him. He could really be something if he had the time or money to try. He doesn't make enough money to try and look good and he doesn't have enough energy to do anything with friends or family. He's stuck.
He never goes out anymore like he used to.
Sure, he wishes he does. He also wishes that he would have someone by his side to make going home be a lot more fun and worth it. There is just no time for relationships. An occasional cute guy will come along, but it never really works out the way they want it to. Yoongi merely wants a rescue. Someone to vent to, someone to make him feel alive. He needs someone who he'd enjoy being with. Forcing a relationship with someone isn't exactly what any person would want, right? I mean, who wants to live like that? Not Yoongi.
A soft sigh came from the boy as he put on his apron.
The place he works in has barely any value to Yoongi besides the fact that he gets sort of paid. It's a small restaurant with the owner, Kim Seokjin as the head chef. Yoongi cooks, but it's not near as tasteful as it used to be. When he first got this job two years ago, he was glad. Now he just ties his apron with no emotion written on his face and a sigh every time.
"Yoongi, get started." He heard Seokjin call sternly from the back. "Table five wants steak and you're late on the day we have only four workers."
He pressed his lips into a thin line as he washed his hands. "Okay, boss."
-
The day was finally almost over and Yoongi was staring up at his ceiling, trying to fall asleep. It was hard for him.
He picked up his phone and plugged it into his charger which hadn't been moved ever since he had moved into his little two bedroom apartment. The phone turned on and shined bright into Yoongi's face, making him shut his eyes. "Shit," he complained to himself as the sudden light hit him. He opened his eyes again and squinted at the only light that filled the room. The time on his phone was eight o'clock and the date was December 21, 2019. He didn't think that mattered to him as he opened his phone and sighed at the few notifications he had.
When he finally had nothing else to look at, he turned his phone off and threw it, hoping that it would land on his bedside table.
As his eyes closed, he could feel the darkness and quietness of his room take over him. He was falling asleep peacefully.
~
"Hello?"
Yoongi turned every way possible, only seeing darkness. "Hello?" He replied to the deeper voice he heard. It sounded like more of an echo, and it was as if it was right beside him. The thing is, he couldn't see anyone just yet. He just heard the voice of a man.
"Woah," He heard the voice again. "Who is that?"
Yoongi furrowed his eyebrows as he looked down, seeing nothing but blackness. "Where am I?" He questioned. He suddenly felt a hand touch his shoulder, making him quickly turn. He looked up with wide eyes, staring deeply into another pair of wide eyes as well. "Who the hell are you?" He asked with a slightly frightened voice.
The person stepped forward with a bright smile and suddenly held onto Yoongi like a koala. "Oh my God, I'm not alone anymore!" He cried out.
Even though the boy's arms were very lovingly wrapped around him, Yoongi couldn't help but think about how this person was a complete stranger and he didn't know where he was. "Where the hell am I?" Yoongi pushed the person off of him slightly as he looked around frantically.
"I don't know!" The boy raised his hand up to his hair and started nervously playing with it. "I've been here for so long.. Please don't leave me." He frowned.
Yoongi couldn't help but feel bad for the person, but this all felt so unreal to him. "Is this a dream?" Yoongi tilted his head slightly.
"No," The boy stated. "Well, I don't know.. Maybe it is. Either way, Hi. It's nice to finally see a face in this stupid place. I'm Kim Taehyung." He smiled like an angel.
Yoongi's mouth opened a little as he realize that the boy was trying to get him to introduce himself. "I'm Yoongi.. Min Yoongi. I don't think this is where I'm supposed to be-"
~
Yoongi opened his eyes and looked up to his ceiling as his alarm on his phone went off.
He had been sweating for some reason and his body felt a lot lighter than usual. The alarm on his phone kept ringing, so he finally turned over and hit the button to turn the annoying thing off. He looked at the time and groaned as he saw that it was seven o'clock. He didn't bother to look at anything else as he stood up from his bed and headed towards his bathroom. Time for another day.
-
A small blue bird landed outside of Yoongi's window.
He looked at it and bit the inside of his lip, remembering that he had seen a bird pretty much exactly like this one yesterday in the same place. Weird. "Here," He threw out some crust from his sandwich and pouted as the bird just looked down at it. That bird should be grateful, but it's not. What a rude bird. That's noted. No more food for the blue bird.
Yoongi huffed as he looked down at a notification on his phone. His eyes widened as he realized that he was going to be late for work. "Shit, not again." He picked up his jacket and ran out of his apartment door, not caring to realize that the bird had finally taken the bread and eaten it.
When he got to work, he sighed. "Sorry for-"
"Yoongi, get started." He heard Seokjin cut him off. "Table five wants steak and you're late on the day we have only four workers." Jin sighed as he eyed Yoongi down.
Yoongi furrowed his eyebrows as he put on his apron. Is he having déjà vu or something?
"Okay, boss.." He said unsurely.
What the hell?
-
Yoongi looked across the street and noticed a man on the phone, almost not caring where he was walking. As he walked by the guy, he could hear him say: "Well, I don't care what you want. Do your chores or you get nothing for Christmas." He said sternly. Yoongi couldn't help but chuckle at that. Children amuse him.
Once he finally got home, the bird was gone and his apartment was silent once again.
He couldn't help but overthink how literally every single order he got today was the exact same from yesterday. That's weird, is it not?
Yoongi plopped onto his bed and sighed. What a weird day.
His room was completely dark until his phone came on, blinding him. "What the hell?!" He groaned. He picked up his phone and pouted at it. "It's eight at night! Leave me alone!" He yelled at his phone. Something caught his attention, though. It's the same notification he got last night. Actually, the date says the same thing, too. Yoongi sat up in his bed and furrowed his eyebrows at his phone. "Wait, wasn't yesterday the 21st?" He asked himself with a confused tone in his voice. He decided to push it aside. Maybe he was wrong. Maybe he just needs more sleep.
~
"You left me yesterday!" Yoongi heard the same deep voice as a pair of arms was wrapped around him. "Where did you go?!"
Yoongi started feeling like he was going crazy. "Who the hell are you?!" He yelled.
Taehyung looked at Yoongi like he was stupid. "I just introduced myself yesterday, but I guess I will again. I'm Kim Taehyung-"
"Shut up." Yoongi help up his hand and started rubbing his head. "Why am I here? What's going on?" He asked.
"How am I supposed to know?" Taehyung looked confused. "You left yesterday. How did you do that? I've been stuck here for forever."
Yoongi looked up at Taehyung, who looked like he was glowing. "Where's the fucking ground?" He looked down and almost cried to himself. "This is so confusing. Why were you in my dream last night and tonight?" He asked Taehyung yet another question as if he knew the answer to it. Taehyung raised his eyebrow at Yoongi.
"I'm in your what?" He tilted his head curiously at the smaller boy. "Oh, we should play a game!" He suddenly said.
~
Yoongi opened his eyes just like he had done the night before. The alarm was going off and he was sweating even more than he was last night. "What the fuck?" He shook his head as he grabbed his phone. He looked down at it in his hand and his jaw dropped once he looked at the date. December 21, 2019. The same day it was yesterday and the day before. He's not going crazy. This is real, right?
He decided to dial his friend's number and almost bit the skin off his fingers as he bit his nails.
"Hello?" He heard Namjoon's voice sleepily answer.
"Joon," Yoongi angrily replied. "Stop playing jokes on me. It's not funny. What did you do? Change my phone so it'll stay on the same date? How do I fix it?"
Namjoon sighed into the phone. "Hyung, get some sleep. I can call Jin hyung and tell him you need it. Maybe he'll understand." Namjoon hung up on Yoongi, making him angrier.
"I'm not crazy!" He yelled into the phone and pouted.
-
After Yoongi got done in the shower, he went straight to his window instead of making a sandwich like he did yesterday- or whatever.
He looked outside of his window and squinted when he saw the blue bird once again. "This is no coincidence. What do you want from me?" He asked the bird as if he would get an answer. The bird merely flew away, not caring about Yoongi's problems. Yoongi let his shoulders drop and he sighed. How can someone literally live the same day over and over again, and why? Why would that happen? The same day he had the dream with that Taehyung boy in it was the same day he started having this problem. Maybe Taehyung is the problem.
Yoongi ran to his room and bounced as he flung himself onto his bed, ready to sleep and force himself to see Taehyung again, not caring about his job.
Once he realized he couldn't just fall asleep so easily, he rolled his eyes and finally walked to the store to buy something to make him sleep easier and hopefully longer. He got some sleeping medicine and he turned the temperature down in his house, knowing that it'll make him cuddle up into his blanket, and he made sure that he was comfortable. He wants to sleep as long as possible.
~
"Hi!" The sudden voice echoed from behind Yoongi.
Yoongi smiled at the now familiar voice. "Taehyung!" He turned around quickly.
"You're back!" Taehyung smiled. "You're here earlier than I thought. You left when I was going to teach you a game I made." He frowned.
"Why am I reliving the same day over and over again?" Yoongi asked suddenly, which confused Taehyung in every way possible.
"I'm sorry, what?" Taehyung chuckled. He started playing with his white shirt, which Yoongi had noticed that he was always wearing. He also always wears the same black jeans and his hair and personality never seem to change a bit. Everything about him was the same as if he was the one reliving the same days over and over again. Yoongi's outfits had always been different when he goes into his dreams. It's according on what he's wearing when he goes to sleep. That made him think: Does Taehyung see him in his dreams?
"I've been waking up on the same day over and over again." Yoongi stated, wanting answers. "December 21."
Taehyung looked off at quite literally nothing with a confused expression. "That sounds familiar." He furrowed his eyebrows. "But, I'm sorry. I have no clue what you're talking about. Why do you wake up on the same day, Yoongi hyung? Isn't that a little crazy?" He chuckled to himself. Yoongi rolled his eyes as he stomped his foot onto nothing.
"Taehyung, I-"
~
Something hit Yoongi, making him wake up. "What the fuck?" He looked up from his bed with hooded eyes. He saw Park Jimin standing at the foot of his bed with a small smile on his face. "I was talking to Taehyung, you asshole!" Yoongi groaned at the fact that he didn't get answers. Taehyung said that the date sounded familiar to him.
Jimin furrowed his eyebrows as his smile disappeared off of his face. "That's not funny." He suddenly sounded stern.
Yoongi's mouth slightly opened as he looked at Jimin. "What?" He questioned.
"It's been two years, but that doesn't mean that you can joke around like that, hyung." Jimin frowned. "I was here to give you the money I borrowed back to you." He held up some cash.
Yoongi shook his head as he reached for the money. "Two years since what?" He asked Jimin.
Jimin fixed the strings on his hoodie and sighed. "Since the wreck, hyung." He mumbled. Yoongi furrowed his eyebrows.
"Jimin, what the hell are you talking about?"
"Ugh, It's been two years since Taehyung and Jungkook were in that wreck. Don't you remember at all?" He rolled his eyes, but then his mouth formed an o shape. "Oh actually, I think you weren't even friends with Jungkook and I then, were you? Didn't we tell you?" He furrowed his eyebrows, then continued. "Jungkook and Taehyung were in a wreck because it was snowing and I guess Jungkook wasn't paying attention, but their car flipped and it put Taehyung in a coma. Jungkook was so devastated. I think everyone in school was, actually." He bit his lip as he remembered all the shit that went down that year. "Taehyung didn't even get to graduate with us. It sucked, man. They're my two best friends." He looked down and felt his eyes getting watery.
Yoongi couldn't help but be confused at this point.
"Jimin," He said, making the younger boy look up at him. "Take me to see Taehyung, please."
-
"Kim Taehyung," The lady opened the door to the bright room and smiled at the two boys. Yoongi had forced Jimin to make him take him to see the boy because he knew that he couldn't ask him tomorrow, because there is no tomorrow in his book, apparently. "It's late, boys. You only have twenty minutes, but if you stay any longer, I don't see you." She winked at them.
Jimin smiled at the lady and waved as she left.
"Tae!" Jimin smiled slightly as he walked into the room.
Yoongi walked in behind him, slightly nervous as he did so. He had seen this boy only in his dreams, how is he supposed to come face to face with him?
It wasn't as hard as Yoongi expected seeing that as he walked in, it was completely quiet. Taehyung looked like he was just asleep. Yoongi looked down at him as he walked forward. He sure is a beautiful young man. It's hard to see him usually, seeing that his dreams are dark and they can barely see each other. But, right now in the brightly lit room, Taehyung looks completely different.
"Tae, this is my friend, Yoongi Hyung." Jimin placed his hand on Taehyung's arm. "I know you can't see, but-" Jimin face palmed himself. "I'm bad at this."
Yoongi rolled his eyes as he placed his hand gently on Taehyung's arm. He feels exactly the same in his dreams. It's like he's not even in a coma when he is there.
"Hey, Taehyung." Yoongi said awkwardly. Taehyung didn't move or say anything, of course. "It's weird seeing you in person." Yoongi whispered.
"Hyung?" Jimin furrowed his eyebrows.
"It's okay," Yoongi shrugged. "You won't even remember this tomorrow, Jimin." He sighed.
-
~
"Hyung!" Taehyung yelled out once he saw Yoongi. Taehyung wrapped his arms around Yoongi and was smiling more than usual. "I heard you today!" He said.
Yoongi chuckled to himself. "You heard me?" He asked.
"Yeah, you and Minie!" He laughed. "It's been a while since I've heard anyone like that. I though I was just going crazy, hyung.. Am I... Am I actually in a coma? None of this is just a twisted dream? Being here?"
Yoongi sucked in his breath as Taehyung suddenly went dark with his tone. How is he supposed to explain that yes, Taehyung is in a coma and yeah, Yoongi has been reliving the same day over and over again? This all just sounds too dumb to be true.
"Hyung, you should've kissed me like a Disney movie and I would've woken up!" Taehyung giggled.
Yoongi laughed along, surprised that the boy was joking around about it. "Sorry, you're like ten years old. No can do."
"I'm eighteen!" Taehyung frowned.
"Actually, you turn twenty in a couple of days- Well, if time wasn't stopped for me, at least." Yoongi puckered his lips out as he sat down on the black floor.
Taehyung tilted his head as he sat next to Yoongi, closer than they usually are next to each other. "Twenty?! What do you mean time stopped?!..." He asked.
Yoongi sighed. "I've never been so confused, either." He chuckled darkly. "I've been waking up on December 21, 2019 over and over again. He explained.
"2019?!" Taehyung gasped. "Damn, how much have I missed?! I'm a full adult?!" He started freaking out.
"I don't know what's going on, but.. I guess I'm sorry that you've missed so much of your life." Yoongi looked over to Taehyung.
Taehyung sighed and held onto his knees. "Hyung, can you visit me again?" He asked.
"Sure-"
~
Yoongi's alarm woke him up once again.
-
"Here you go, sir." The lady smiled. "Kim Taehyung. You have plenty of time."
Yoongi decided to visit Taehyung once again. He called Namjoon and told him to tell Jin that he had important business to attend to, which wasn't a lie. It's not like he'll get fired or anything.
"Taehyung~" Yoongi slightly smiled.
This time, he was alone. He wasn't sure what he was supposed to do or say, but Taehyung wanted him to visit him, so he was going to. Nothing at all made sense to either of them, but that's okay because they're at least both confused together besides being alone.
"Did you know that you look completely different in person than you do in my dreams?" Yoongi chuckled as he sat down.
A sudden click was heard outside of the window to the room that Taehyung was in. Yoongi furrowed his eyebrows as he looked out of it and saw that damn blue bird.
"You little shit." Yoongi growled. He looked over at Taehyung and bit his lip. "Not you, Taehyung. I was talking to- Actually, nevermind." He rolled his eyes. He probably already sounds crazy to Taehyung, why should he tell him about how he was talking to a bird? He sat back down in the chair and sighed. "You'll get out of here some day." He nodded his head to himself. "Hopefully we both will."
-
On the way home, Yoongi saw the same man on his phone again. As he walked by, he was talking about Christmas and chores, just like last time. Of course nothing had changed.
Maybe Yoongi had a little hope every morning that the day would change. Maybe he didn't, though.
If the date changed, then what would happened to Taehyung? Would he still be in his dreams? Still in a coma? Awake? Who knows?
Hopefully he wakes up soon, though. Two years is a long time.
-
~
"Hyung, who were you talking to today?" Yoongi heard Taehyung's voice.
He turned around like usual and bit back a smile. "Nobody." He told Taehyung.
Taehyung smiled brightly at him/ "So you talk to yourself?" He giggled like a child. A soft child. A baby.
Yoongi rolled his eyes as he gave up and sat on the floor again. "No, I don't talk to myself." He huffed. Taehyung sat down next to him and to Yoongi's surprise, he rested his head on his shoulder. Yoongi didn't know what to think about it, but the boy looked comfortable.
"Hyung, it's been two years since I've talked to anybody." Taehyung suddenly sounded a lot more serious than usual. "I've been stuck thinking to myself and hearing other people talk to me, but I've never been able to say anything to them." He frowned. "I'm so glad that you're here. I'm glad that it's you and not some other person. You're actually really nice to talk to."
He nuzzled into Yoongi's neck and smiled. Yoongi couldn't help but feel his lips curve up at that.
Taehyung is glad that it's him.
~
-
Yoongi followed the blue bird this time.
He wouldn't let it out of his sight. He ran through people, not caring that he was in pajama pants and a thick jacket. He could've sworn that this bird was following him every day and getting his attention somehow. Why would this bird be trying to get his attention like it had been? It was never there before. Why now?
The bird finally stopped, and Yoongi hadn't realized that it had brought him straight to where Taehyung was until he was stood there in front of the building.
The bird chirped and pecked down at the ground. "You're still a little shit." Yoongi sighed. He walked inside the building even though it was pretty early in the morning. The same lady was there, said the same thing, and let Yoongi into the same room. "Hello, again." He sighed as he sat down next to Taehyung. "This is an every day thing, huh? She even tells me the same thing every time." He laughed.
Yoongi looked around the place in awkward silence. His eyes drifted onto Taehyung and he examined the boy once again. He looked so peaceful and his skin was glowing. Yoongi scooted his chair forward and placed his hand against Taehyung's hesitantly. "A stupid bird brought me here." He laughed. "He's blue and very annoying." He squeezed Taehyung's hand in hopes that he couldn't feel it. His hand was pretty big, but it was still very soft even though it felt dead in Yoongi's hand.
"You know what?" He suddenly straightened his body up. "I'm glad that it's you, too, Taehyung."
He looked at the door and hoped that none of the doctors would walk in soon. "I'm glad that I come here every day and I'm glad that you're in my dreams besides some old grumpy lady." He laughed to himself once again. "Just imagine if we were both completely opposite people. That would suck." He stated. "It really would."
A small smile was formed on Yoongi's lips as he looked up at Taehyung's face.
To his surprise, Taehyung's lips had moved upwards as well. "Woah," Yoongi's eyes widened as he saw that. He let go of Taehyung's hand and opened his mouth slightly. To him, it was like the dead was coming alive. He hadn't seen Taehyung in real life ever move before. He decided to leave, not knowing what was going on. He was suddenly scared. Did he do something?
-
~
"Why did you leave earlier?" Taehyung asked.
Yoongi jumped at his voice, not knowing that he had fallen asleep yet. "Because you scared the hell out of me, Taehyung." He stated.
Taehyung furrowed his eyebrows. "How the hell did I scare you? I didn't even do anything, hyung!"
Yoongi nodded his head as he sat down as usual. "You're right. You usually don't." He said as Taehyung sat next to him. "But then you were suddenly fucking smiling, Imagine how creepy that shit would've been if it were you there instead of me." He pouted. Taehyung shook his head.
"Hyung, people don't move when they're in a coma, do they?"
"No," Yoongi said.
"What if I was waking up and you left me there?"
~
-
"Taehyung, wake your ass up." Yoongi attempted to wake Taehyung up for forever.
Nothing was working like it was yesterday- or today- whatever. The same doctor came in and gave Taehyung the same treatment as usual, making Yoongi sigh as it lasted forever, as usual. After she left, Yoongi decided to grab Taehyung's hand again, liking the difference in their hands.
"You know, Im not trying to sound weird or anything, but you have the most beautiful hands, Taehyung." Yoongi stated clearly. He turned Taehyung's hand around and looked at his palm."Also, I bet you're really heavy." He laughed. "I wonder who cleans you off." His mouth opened once he realized that. "Yeah, how do you even bathe, Taehyung?!" He started laughing more. Taehyung probably thought he was just being stupid at this point, but Yoongi didn't give two shits and neither did Taehyung.
Yoongi looked up at Taehyung's face again and saw that smile again. "How are you smiling, Taehyung?" He asked, not expecting an answer. "I don't understand."
The feeling in the room was a lot lighter than usual. Yoongi had gotten used to talking about random things and laughing about them later on in his dreams with the boy. What he wasn't expecting though, was to witness Taehyung's eyes flutter open. It was nothing like what you would expect. It was as if Yoongi was watching a baby be born. Taehyung had not been awake for over two years.
Two fucking years.
When his eyes opened, Taehyung had not realized what was going on.
Yoongi immediately opened the door and got someone to come help, because he wasn't sure of what to do.His eyes were wide as he looked down at Taehyung, because what the hell was going on?
"How did he wake up?" The lady asked Yoongi. He didn't know how to answer, because he wasn't even so sure himself.
"I have no damn clue." He answered honestly.
The lady smiled as she looked down at Taehyung."Hi, Kim Taehyung." She said. "I've never seen your little eyes open before."
Taehyung stayed there, staring at the lady. He wasn't sure of what to do or how to do it. It was hard to move or talk unlike what it was like in Yoongi's dreams. "H-Hi." He muttered out.
-
Yoongi sat out in the waiting room with Jimin and Jungkook. He had called them because he felt like it was only right.
"Hyung, why were you here when Taehyung woke up?" Jungkook asked him curiously.
Yoongi blinked at him. He felt like time was finally going somewhere. He felt it. He felt the time changing. "I guess.. I don't know how to explain it."
"I didn't know that you knew him." Jungkook shrugged.
"Well," Yoongi bit his lip. "I'm not sure if I do or not, honestly." He replied truthfully. Honestly Yoongi was afraid to find out of the Taehyung in that room was the same Taehyung that was in his dreams. What if it wasn't? What if this was all just one big dream and he would merely wake up the next morning? What if?
-
It has been weeks now.
Yoongi had been checking his phone every single morning since Taehyung had woke up.
Taehyung told Jimin to tell Yoongi that he didn't want to see him yet. He wanted to be able to walk and talk properly whenever he saw Yoongi again.
Yoongi was scared at the fact that all it took was just talking to Taehyung to make him wake up and to make time start flowing again. Taehyung was the only one who remembered everything that Yoongi would talk about on each repeated day. It's like they were both reliving the days together and that made Yoongi slightly happy.
It was a scary feeling, too.
-
It was cold as hell outside and everything seemed ten times more scary to Yoongi. He was going to finally see Taehyung. In person. In somewhere other than a hospital room or his dark dreams. Yoongi walked up to Taehyung's door, hoping it was the right place. Sure, they hadn't really known each other for long, but they sure did talk about a lot before. Neither of them wanted that to stop.
"Hi Yoongi Hyung."
Yoongi's head shot up quickly and his eyes widened at the familiar voice.
"It's you.."
