Origins From A Maiden's Point Of View
Geno dropped his drink. "WHAT."
Reaper pulled his hood over his head, hiding his face. "Forget what I just said..."
Wisps of black smoke surrounded Reaper as he stood from his chair.
"I'm going out..." He stated lowly. The smoke consumed Reaper's body, covering his entire being in darkness. Then, the gas dispersed and vanished, leaving no sign of the god left.
Geno continued to sit at the table, his eyes wide and his mouth open. The calming atmosphere had evaporated into a state of still dread.
In a quick motion, Geno shot from his chair, running out of the small house and into the open world.
As he left, the shards of the mug remained shattered on the ground. The remaining liquid altered from a light chocolate brown to a deep crimson red. Upon a large shard of the mug, a reflection shone from the surface. It revealed a small figure, similar to the characteristics of a child.
It was smiling.
~~~
"REAPER!"
Geno's voice was becoming hoarse. Even though he knew that the god was long gone, he couldn't help but call. Geno knew that Reaper had lost his brother, but 'Executed'? That fact was shocking.
Why would Papyrus be EXECUTED?
"REAPER!!!" Geno yelled once more, his face panicked. Why didn't Reaper tell him that? It may have been a personal subject, but why didn't he say anything before? Were they not as close as Geno had thought?
The skeleton glanced around quickly, trying to find his beloved friend. He was outside of Life's sanctuary, drawing deeper into the woods surrounding it.
"Reaper, where did you go?" Geno whispered, starting to trail back to the sanctuary.
~~~
Life was sitting with the skeleton at her couch.
"No luck?" She asked. Geno shook his head, covering a small cough.
"...I didn't think that he would still be sensitive..." Life sighed, staring t her floor.
"Sensitive?" Geno questioned.
Life looked over at him, giving him a sad smile. "...Would you like to know the story...?"
"The story?"
"Of how Reaper had come to be..."
"Oh." Geno took in a deep breathe, shifting on the couch to become comfortable. "Alright. I'm ready."
Toriel nodded and begun.
Life was a beautiful thing.
She would dance across the world, giving everything her love. Plants and Animals were born from her presence. Birds sang and flowers bloomed. The sun shone from above as the world awoke with Life.
Life was happily married to her husband, The God of Skies and the King, Asgore. More gods and goddesses were created, giving the world it's beautiful luxuries.
As time progressed, Life was unhappy. She felt as if something was missing from the world. Something that could change the land forever. After thinking for what seemed as centuries, she finally realized. Many generations passed as Life began to create her perfect children.
They were the HUMANS.
She had planned their traits and structures so preciously and carefully. The first generation of humans were born into the world. They were pure at heart and all very beautiful.
Life was happy.
Asgore had become aware of these new beings roaming the world. Confused, he turned to his wife. The smile she was wearing was the most jovial smile Asgore had ever seen. It was so lovely, that he wanted to keep his beloved happy.
So, Asgore supported his wife's creations.
Days turned to months and months had turned to years. years turned to decades and decades turned to centuries. Life's children grew and developed, living a peaceful and happy life.
It was the Golden Age Of The World.
More time passed by, the gods and goddesses forming a kingdom and court in the sky. Asgore and Life both ruled the kingdom with kindness, looking over their land. It was beautiful. Life was overjoyed. Then, one day, something happened. A dear friend of the queen and king had spoken to them, concerning Life's children.
'They Might Corrupt' The god said. "They Might Turn Malicious."
Life was shocked. Her children would never become so vicious. She knew her husband would agree with her.
She was wrong.
The king considered the thought. He didn't want the world to be plagued with evil. So, he agreed with the god.
Life's heart shattered.
Heartbroken, she fled from the kingdom, swearing to protected her children from the rest of the court. Life had escaped to a small area of a sacred forest, creating her sanctuary within it. There, she could live. There, she could protect her loved ones.
...
Then, Death was created.
Life's children began to fall into a deep slumber, never to be woken again. It was devastating to her, looking over her dead children.
She would never get to see them again...
Tears were spilling from the goddess' sad eyes. Geno had been listening to her story, hanging onto each and every word. He slowly lifted his hand, but Life softly set it down for him.
"I am fine." She sniffed, wiping her tears. "Let us continue."
Life had become sorrowful.
However, she held her head high. If she couldn't protect her children, then she would just have to continue forward. Even though her heart ached from grief, she would still carry out her passion and duty.
So, Life continued to create her children as Death continued to take them away.
It was a sort of balance, which Life grew to understand. The more time she had watching her children, the more she realized. Her children would grow up, forcing their bodies to slowly decay into fragile forms. When it appeared her children couldn't function anymore, Death would take them away.
It gave Life a feeling.
Maybe Death isn't such a bad being.
Then, after many eons, they had finally met. When they did, they both engaged in battle, for they both despised each other.
Though, after some time, they had stopped and started to bond. Death would tell Life about his world while Life shared her world with him.
It was nice.
However, despite his smile, Death seemed...sad.
Geno blinked. "Sad...huh."
Life nodded.
Soon after, Death had told her something that she wouldn't forget.
'I had a brother, you know.' Death had started one afternoon.
'Really? That sounds lovely.' Life had answered.
'...He was.' Death responded.
Life, completely curious, asked, 'Was?'
It was the biggest mistake she could have made, for Death had broken down.
"Reaper was sobbing back then. I had never thought that he was capable of such an action, but he was completely broken."
"Wait, did he ever tell you how his brother died?" Geno asked, desiring the answer.
Life shook her head. "I didn't want to push him in such a state."
Geno thought for a few minutes before taking both of Life's hands. "Thank you for telling me that story, Toriel."
Life smiled. "No problem, child."
Geno gave her a smile as well before releasing her hands and running out the door.
He knew exactly what to do.
