"We're going to die in here, aren't we?" the woman said as a series of coughs left her throat. She looked at me with tears rolling down her cheeks. "I don't know who you are or why you came here, but please, you gotta go."
"I cannot leave you," I stated rolling over and then began to push myself off the ground. "You have a daughter, correct?" This seemed to catch her attention, she opened her mouth to speak, but I cut her off and said, "I told your girl I would find you and bring you to her."
"She's alive? My daughter's alive?"
I nodded and kneeled down pushing the feeling of faint away and once again picked her up in my arms. I fought the smoke and flames, making my legs move fast towards the exit.
There was a ticking sound as we passed a small room that had flames engulfing everything.
The woman in my arms gasped, and said, "Oh, my god, that sounds like another bomb! You have to get out of here!"
I could save her, I know I can!
My head felt as though it was spinning and my legs were shaking. I ignored it and continued to walk. I did not notice the small step in front of me until my foot got caught on its edge and I tumbled to the ground. The woman hit her head hard on the concrete and falls unconscious.
The air was thick with smoke, and I covered my mouth and nose but it still did not help.
"Jewels!"
I forced myself to look up from the place I was laying, I heard them call my name again. Seconds later, James and Jeremy appeared out of the smoke.
Jeremy rushed over to the woman while James approached me, both of their faces held concern, worry and anger.
"You okay, Lou?" Jeremy questioned. The woman told him she could not feel her legs. He picked her up with ease then turned to James who was just staring at me. "James, get Jewels out of here, geez, stop standing th—"
"Wait," I bring myself to my knees, remembering the bomb the woman, Lou, mentioned before. "There is a bomb." James's eyes widened. "What is a bomb? Why does it make you look so worried?"
"A bomb is what did this, the ROGS set one off," James finally spoke, wrapping his arm around me and pulling me to my feet. "I'm going to kill Derek when I cross his path next."
"Get in line, I'm killing him first." Jeremy was still facing us holding Lou in his arms. "James, for heavens sake! Come on before the—"
I spun around when I sensed danger, the energy within me floods through my veins making them glow, mixing with the orange and red from the flames burning just metres away from us.
"Jewels, you have to try to put this fire out," James suddenly said, causing an unwanted memory to overtake my mind, something that happened in my past. "Jewels!"
A loud explosion rocked the building. A cloud of debris, fire and smoke was moving towards us at high speed. The memory returned and I closed my eyes, remembering that day.

Many Earth years ago ...
Planet: Everotorn
Location: City of the Ancients (COA)
"Jewels, concentrate!" Mador yelled in my ear, slamming his staff on the ground and jolting me back to reality. "Princess, you must control this fire."
"I cannot! My power is evil, Mador! I will only make it worse!" The fire that had started when a hatchling knocked over a torch now engulfed one of our teaching temples.
High Priest Mador expected me to use this power, this evil power inside of me to control and put out the fire. I feared I could not do it.
"It is pointless to try to use my energy for good. It is only capable of doing bad!" I felt frustrated, ashamed and useless. "Everything I do results in terrible things. Please, Mador, I beg of you, do not make me do this."
"You must try, you must believe in yourself. If you doubt then you will fail."
I inhaled then exhaled, and stood before the burning room. "I can try."
"That is all I ask, now be one with your power but do not let it control you, as you must control it." I noticed Mador taking a few steps backwards until he was at a safe distance from me. "Hurry."
Holding my hands out in front of me, so that my hands were flat as though I was about to slap someone, I focused on the energy within me. My veins burned with the power flowing to my hands which now glowed brightly, my eyes locked with the flames, and my mind focused on how the flames flickered in the breeze and consumed everything in its path.
Soon the flames began to be pulled towards me but they did not hit me. I could feel the heat from them. Once the flames were close enough I moved my hands around my body, waving them in circular movements, and the fire followed.
"You are doing it! Now absorb the fire!" I froze hearing him say that, I must absorb it? How? It would burn me. "Your Highness!"
My eyes widened upon seeing the flames spreading away from me. All I could see was red. All I could feel was heat. All I am was useless.
Many Everotornians were about to fall asleep forever and I could not stop it.

Present Earth time ...
Planet: Earth
Location: Camp Jameson
I could see it, the wall of destruction and death heading towards us, consuming everything in its path. It was as though time itself had slowed down, I could see the horror on Jeremy's face, the way James looked at me with fear, and some other emotion I did not know.
When my eyes turned back to the results from that bomb exploding, I raised both of my hands in front of me.
"I will save you, all of you," I muttered loud enough for James to hear. This caused his eyes to widen and mouth to open, but I did not let him speak, I turned my attention back.
No one else would sleep forever tonight. I would not allow it even if it meant I would sleep for eternal myself then so be it.
My entire body glowed with the energy within. I would prove to these people who and what I was, where I came from and where it all started, and then there was only darkness.
I did not know what happened and I did not know how I came to be laying on this blue blanket that seemed to be attached to just a roof.
I attempted to ask where I was but it came out as a series of coughs, which caught James's attention, who was pouring himself a glass of water.
"Jewels? Thank god." He sighed in a relieved way. "You look like crap."
I did not know if I should laugh at his comment. "If crap is what I feel like, then yes, I agree."
"Guessing you wanna know what happened, yeah?" James pulled a wooden chair up beside my hanging blanket bed, and said, "You did save us, you saved the entire camp."
"I-I did?" I could feel my body relaxing. I did it? I saved them?
"Yeah, it's like you went supernova or something." He runs a hand through his black hair. "I pulled you out after, you were in a bad way. I mean, for being an alien and all."
"What?" I did not understand this alien?
"Well, you can't die, right?"
I frowned at this. "James." My eyes locked with his, I lifted my head slightly upwards. "I am not immortal."
"Oh, well, I just figured," he paused, then said, "Where are you from?"
He asked this and it brought back memories of my parents sending me away. I missed them, I missed the place of my hatching, my home. I was forced to leave in order to protect it.
"You know this," I said, wondering to myself if Everotorn was still there. If the war was over, and if so, then who became victorious? "I came from the stars and that is where it started."
"What did?"
I felt as though I was drunk from Macktious milk, but before my eyes closed once more and before the darkness could take me I managed to say, "It all started with the stars."
