Day 3: Roasted

If you had been to Casterfil, one of the thing townspeople recommend you trying is the famous Shepherd's pie at Lady Rosemary's Bakery. It's described as a gourmet to anyone who visit Casterfil. Some investors has swung by with big fat contracts, hoping to gain profit from Lady Rosemary, but she always turns them down. Though the woman did not advertise in any form, her dishes are selling like hot cakes. She was even invited to host dessert banquet for the rich in town. And this year wasn't an exception. Jacob was excited the moment his father came to his room and asked him to co-host the party in order to celebrate his engagement with Beatrix. Right now, he's siting in his car with his dad to go to Lady Rosemary's Bakery and make a reservation with her.

The trip was quite long but they've finally reached their destination. Stepped out, a shop came to his view. Jacob was blown away by how simple it look. It's a two-stories building painted in rosa and white. Striped awning and above was a neatly hung sign that said "The Bakery". Glass windows with letters printed on them cursively, behind it, delicious cakes and pastries were displayed on white stands. Lavenders added up a touch to the exterior and the place is just fit in with the surrounding like a beautiful picture. The sign was turned and said "Closed" but Mr. Wrights still knocked on the door.

A young girl, supposedly twelve or thirteen, opened up to them.

"Evening, Mister. I'm deeply sorry to tell you that our shop is closed. Please return tomorrow morning at 7:00 for freshly made pastries."

"Evening, little miss. Can you please tell your owner, lady Rosemary, that the Wrights are here to book her service?" Mr. Wright's smiles gently.

"Oh, you're booking service. Of course, please do come in. I will inform her right away." The little girl squealed and ran upstairs. A few words exchanged as the sound of heels clicking from the stairs.

A woman in her early 30s walked downstairs and formally greeted her guests. Brown hair tied neatly into a bun, blue dress with white apron complementing her body perfectly. Green eyes smiled at the opposition and shook hands with them.

"Well, another banquet. Is it a bit too early for one, Karl?" They seated themself on the table for four. Water were presented to them by the little girl.

"I do apologize for the unexpected announcement but my son here is about to get marry. A celebration was obviously needed. And I trust your cooking skills than those abecedarians." Karl sipped

"You flattered me, Karl. Though the stock this year isn't plenty, I'll notify my sources to speed up their rate."

"I noticed, you had a new apprentice?" Karl glanced at the blonde girl cleaning the table before turning back to Lady Rosemary.

"Keen eyes. Yes, dear. It's difficult to look for new one as they come and go so quickly. Back to our schedule, may I ask when will this lovely gathering take place?"

" Two weeks, my lady. The party started at 19:00, Ruby Garden.

19:00, Ruby Garden.

Jacob, accompanied by his fiancé Milliana, was greeting guests at the party. All wished the couple a happy marriage and presented them small tokens for luck. It wasn't until everyone was seated did Mr. Wrights for attention.

"Welcome everyone to the annual gathering of Casterfil! I appreciated everyone who came here today to celebrate my son's engagement so I shall not waste more time and give the mic to the man of the party. Jacob Wrights, everyone!"

"Thank you, father. Woah, I'm very nervous right now. Thank you all for your presences today at the lovely Ruby Garden. As everyone knew, today is a very special day. It's the day I proposed to this wonderful woman right next to me and the moment she made me the happiest man in this world. She's the one I love with all my heart and I hope would go with me for the rest of my life." Jacob held hands with Milliana.

The crowd cheered for the young couple as they raised their glasses for a toast.

"To Jacob and Milliana!" Mr. and Mrs. Wrights gave their cheer.

"TO JACOB AND MILLIANA!"

Jacob continued after the liquor had gone down his throat with a tangy taste.

"And here come the main character of the night, Lady Rosemary!"

Lady Rosemary stepped out with servants strode alongside with her. The food was delivered straight to each table with lids on. Jacob handed the microphone to Lady Rosemary before returned to his seat.

"Thank you, Jacob. I am truly delighted to be here with everyone to show you my new dish. It has been hard to get this one to cooperate with us but we had managed to capture the flavor onto this dish. I'm certain it will fit your palates quite well. Please enjoy. Thank you."

The lid was lifted. The crowd cheered as they dug in for a taste. They moaned at the crunchy roasted texture and savory taste. Jacob curiously took a bite and let the flavor sink in. He has never tasted anything like this, and seemed like his wife hasn't either. Wishing to know more about his meal, the man left to find lady Rosemary just to encounter her sipping her champagne near the lake.

"Lady Rosemary?"

"Yes, Jacob?" She faced him.

"I wanted to say the meal was amazing. So exotic yet sweet flavor still lingered on my tongue. I was wondering if you could tell me what ingredients did you use to make it?"

Lady Rosemary chuckled.

"Well, it's not that hard to tell. You've seen it before so why bother asking?"

"Wait, I did? May I ask when?" He frowned

She did not answer. She gave him a folded handkerchief and left the scene. Jacob opened to find something rather peculiar. Hair. In the shade of the sun.
