Jungkook- Why Don't You Listen?!

One thing that separated BTS from other famous groups was how close of a family they truly were, not just among themselves but among their staff members as well. Many times staff was invited over to hang out at their place, it helped build lasting and trusting relationships within the entire team which is what contributed a lot to all of their success.
There was a new crew member named Loui who had been with the team for about two weeks now and the members had been meaning to invite him over so they could get to know eachother better but it had been hard finding the time. They took a quick liking to Loui based on how he acted at work. He was a very hard worker, and payed extremely close attention to detail. The members loved that about him, especially Namjoon and Hobi, because they were the same way when it came to being leaders. He was extremely kind and always super respectful to everyone around him, which made him get along greatly with other staff and the members. All the members had seen him as a fantastic addition to the team.
For the first time in weeks, the members would actually have some downtime. Jin decided this would be a great time and opportunity to finally invite Loui over to their dorm to hang out and build a stronger personal relationship, because right now their relationship was strictly business. He figured since it was going to be the weekend they could all have a few drinks together and loosen up.
"I'd love that," Loui replied. He had also been looking forward to the day he would finally get to hang out with the members at their place. He knew all the other staff already had, and from what he'd heard, they were extremely fun and chill to hang out with. He thought they were a great group of guys. Well, almost great. He hadn't admitted it out loud to anyone but he honestly couldn't quite stand Jungkook, the maknae of BTS. He thought the members babied and spoiled him way too much just because he was the youngest of the team. He thought it was a little odd how overprotective they were, and it was annoying to him. He thought Jungkook was way too helpless to be part of the biggest boyband in the world. He also thought Jungkook was just plain weird. Working behind the scenes he always saw the maknae staring off into space with no expression, or doing weird twirls, or annoying the hell out of his hyungs just because he knew he wouldn't get in trouble for it. He thought they were all way too patient and lenient with him, but he knew he had no say in the matter. He knew he couldn't tell the older members to discipline their own maknae, so he kept his mouth shut whenever he thought Jungkook was being annoying. He figured he'd have fun at the members house as long as Jungkook stayed elsewhere and didn't annoy the hell out of him or the other members. He thought Jungkook was annoying enough at work, he couldn't fathom how annoying he could possibly be at home with his hyungs. Their patience was beyond his comprehension, but he sure lacked that same patience.
----
The members were hanging out at home on a Friday night when Loui came knocking at the door. Everyone was excited to get to know this new member of their team even better.
"I'll get it!" Jungkook offered. He ran to the door and opened it, greeting Loui with a huge smile. Loui felt instantly annoyed, the last person he wanted opening the door with Jungkook.
"Here, help me with these," Loui said as he dropped a bunch of alcohol into Jungkook's hands.
"Isn't this too much?" Jungkook asked curiously. Loui had brought over a lot of alcohol and Jungkook thought there was absolutely no way any of them could possibly drink that much, let alone Loui. Jin walked over to help his maknae and Loui carry in the alcohol, "Jeez what did you do, rob a liquor store or something? You didn't have to bring all of this," Jin told his crew member as they all headed to the kitchen and put everything on the counter.
"Of course not, Jin, I brought this from home," Loui smiled.
"From home?!" The rest of the members said in unison. Why did he have so much alcohol in his house? They all wondered.
"Well you're all such hard workers, I thought we could all really let loose for the night."
Taehyung went over to Namjoon and tugged on his shirt sleeve, looking at his leader with some concern in his eyes. "Ah Taehyungie, don't worry, I don't know about Loui but you know hyungs won't overdrink or get drunk or anything. We know it makes you nervous," Namjoon rubbed his back and his dongsaeng smiled back at him. The members had apparently forgotten to inform Loui that Taehyung got nervous around drunk people. He loved to have a drink or two with his members and relax , but that's all it ever was. His hyungs and his maknae were well aware of his anxiety and they respected it and made sure to never get drunk around him. They would always stop drinking immediately if he asked them to stop or say he thinks they were having too much. The hyungs were somewhat grateful for Taehyung's anxiety because it meant they all stayed self aware and never over did it leading to something stupid. They always called Taehyung's fear a 'blessing in disguise.'
The members gathered around and grabbed some beers.
"We can either cook something or get takeout, I don't care," Jin offered to the group. He was silently hoping everyone would agree on takeout because he wasn't actually in the mood to cook, he was just being nice .
"Oh hyung! Hyung! Can we get Chipotle? Please please please! I loved that stuff when we had it in LA, I think there's one not too far from here because I looked it up when we got back to Korea," Jungkook asked eagerly with his hands clasped together. The rest of the members protested, none of them wanted Chipotle. They threw out other ideas instead that they all agreed on, except Jungkook.
"No! Chipotle! Chipotle! Chipotle!" Jungkook kept asking over and over. Loui bit his tongue in frustration. I knew he was annoying at work, and I knew he'd probably be annoying at home, but I never thought he would be THIS annoying.
"Sorry Jungkook, but it's seven against one, so you lose this fight," Loui told him sternly. Jungkook pouted, he knew Loui was right. He was the maknae and knew he had to listen to his hyungs in the long run. This was a battle he'd just have to lose. However, the members themselves were all suckers for Jungkook's giant pouting doe-eyes. "Well if it's okay with you Jin hyung maybe he can just order the Chipotle too," Jimin suggested, affectionately putting his hand on his maknae's back. Jungkook stood there hopeful.
"Of course. What would you like from Chipotle?" Jin asked his maknae. Jungkook's eyes lit up as he excitedly clapped and gave his oldest hyung his order. He walked over to his oldest brother and wrapped him in a tight hug, "Thanks so much hyungie!!"
"Yahh, don't worry about it," Jin ruffled his maknae's hair.
Loui kind of understood it now. No wonder why Jungkook was so annoying. He was spoiled at work, and he was spoiled at home. He realized the staff wasn't kidding when they said the members truly were genuinely the same on and off camera. Which meant Jungkook was annoying and spoiled all the time.
Jungkook's little protest had given Loui a headache. He sipped down some whiskey. He looked over and saw Taehyung staring at him wide-eyed.
"What you lookin at?" Loui asked Taehyung a bit more sternly than he had meant to. The second maknae shot Namjoon a quick nervous glance before looking back at Loui.
"Is whiskey your favorite?" Taehyung asked. He couldn't help but notice just how much whiskey the man had brought, and had been drinking. His members had only touched the light beers out of respect for his anxiety, so Loui was consuming all the whiskey he brought, along with all the other types of alcohol as well.
"Sure is, kid."
"Do you hold your alcohol well? I mean it just seems like you're kind of drinking a lot..."
A radar went off in Yoongi who was standing nearby. He knew in Taehyung language that meant he was getting uncomfortable. Even he'd admit that Loui was consuming quite a bit of alcohol, he could see why Taehyung was starting to get nervous. "Why don't you go into the living room with Jungkook?" Yoongi suggested. Taehyung nodded and grabbed Jungkook's hand, guiding him to the living room. Not only did Taehyung get nervous around drunk people, but he also got extremely protective of his maknae. He never really worried about his older members because they'd proven they could always take care of themselves. But when it came to his only dongsaeng he always had an overprotective big brother instinct. The rest of the members were also aware of this, which is why Yoongi suggested Taehyung bring Jungkook away with him. Namjoon decided to meet with them in the living room as well.
"Joonie-hyung? Loui is drinking quite a lot, maybe we could ask him to lay off a bit?" Taehyung asked. Taehyung kept glancing from the living room into the kitchen where Loui was laughing and drinking with the rest of the members.
"I would but it's alcohol he brought from home, I can't tell him he can't drink it," Namjoon was at a bit of a loss over what to tell Taehyung. Yes he knew his dongsaeng got nervous, but he didn't know how he was supposed to tell someone to stop drinking something they had brought themselves. Namjoon felt like it wasn't his place to make that request, and honestly none of them liked confrontation anyway. He knew it was their house and they made the rules, but he was also keen on honoring their guests.
"But what about Jungkookie?" Taehyung gestured to his maknae who was sitting right next to him.
"What about me?" Jungkook looked at his hyung.
"I don't know. I just get nervous when it comes to you."
"I know but you don't have to. I'm fine hyung," Jungkook said reassuringly. He never quite understood why Taehyung got so overprotective of him around people drinking. The older had mentioned before that it was because he didn't want to see him get hurt by a drunk person, but he didn't know where the fear stemmed from because he'd never gotten hurt by a drunk person.
"He'll be fine, Tae," Namjoon chimed in, "Don't worry, alright? If it becomes too much we'll call him a ride home, sound good?"
Taehyung nodded in agreement and decided to pull out a board game for him and Jungkook to play. Although Taehyung had stopped drinking a while ago, Jungkook was already three beers in. He had a pretty high tolerance. Taehyung didn't mind Jungkook drinking because he figured he could still protect him either way. Namjoon left the two and made his way back into the kitchen with the others.
The members were having a great time getting to know Loui more. The man had a ton of interesting stories , it seemed like he'd already lived quite an interesting life even though he wasn't even that much older than them. Jungkook had re-entered the kitchen after Taehyung had turned on a movie he didn't want to watch. He decided to listen in on Loui's stories. Loui couldn't help but become annoyed when Jungkook kept interrupting every 5 seconds to ask a stupid question about his life. Or he'd constantly be adding his little ad libs like "oo's" and "ahhhh's". Every time Jungkook annoyed him he'd take another shot. Jungkook was quite literally driving the man to drink. He thought he was going to go insane if the maknae didn't shut his mouth.
It didn't help that Jungkook may have also exceeded his alcohol tolerance limit. His tolerance was high, but not too high. Plus they hadn't all drunken together like this in quite some time so his limit was probably a bit lower than usual. However in the excitement of the night he wasn't even aware of how much he had been drinking. It was obvious he was getting a bit drunk.
"All right, that's enough maknae, I'm cutting you off now," Jimin told him and took Jungkook's beer from him. The can was empty at this point anyway so Jimin threw it away.
"Aww but we were just getting started hyung!"
Hobi and Jin both gave Jungkook a warning glare, and Hobi pointed to Taehyung on the couch who was staring at them and paying no attention to the movie, "You're making him nervous now, so no more."
Jungkook felt a bit guilty. He knew he was drunk and he knew how freaked out it could make Taehyung.
"SORRY HYUNGIE!!! Don't worry hyungie!! I'm not even drunk!" Jungkook yelled to Taehyung before stumbling backwards right into Loui. Maybe just a little drunk. Loui bit his tongue and shoved Jungkook away from him, but not hard enough for anyone to notice. He was extremely irritated. Taehyung pouted, he was a bit disappointed with Jungkook but he knew there wasn't much he could do at this point. As long as the rest of the members stayed sober, they could all be protective of their maknae and keep him from getting hurt.
Jungkook started making loud noises, and then told everyone he had been practicing animal calls. He started doing bird calls and dolphin noises.
"Must you do that? Must you yell? We are inside Jungkook. I can promise you aren't going to be summoning any damn fish or birds," Loui scolded Jungkook out of nowhere.
Jungkook completely ignored him, "I can also do an owl," he informed everyone before making owl noises. The members thought he was really good at it.
"Jungkook!" Loui yelled.
"What?"
"I said must you yell?! You're being so loud! We're inside!"
"Oh, sorry," Jungkook felt a tinge of annoyance and decided to go back to Taehyung in the living room, he grabbed his hyungs hand and tried pulling him off the couch, "Want to play with me?"
"I'm watching a movie Kook-ah."
"The movie can wait let's do something!! Play with meee! " Jungkook plopped himself right on top of his hyung. Jin started laughing at them from the kitchen. He always thought it was funny the way the maknae would usually annoy Taehyung the most when he was a bit drunk. It was comical.
"Get off me Jungkookieeee," Taehyung mocked the same voice his maknae had used. Jungkook started poking him in the chest and then tickling him. His hyung broke out into a fit of giggles.
"Kook stop!! Ahhh! Hahaha Jungkook stop!!!" Taehyung could barely breathe from laughing so hard while being tickled. The tickling quickly turned into a wrestling match on the floor. The members watched them from the kitchen, laughing at the two youngest members being playful in the living room. They all thought their two maknae's were so cute. Loui, however, did not.
"Why are they so obnoxious?" Loui asked Yoongi.
"You've worked with them long enough to know that they're always like this. Jungkook always starts some kind of playful fight," Yoongi replied.
"I thought that was just for comedic relief on camera, I didn't know Jungkook acted like that all the time."
"Of course he does. He's our youngest. He's crazy. Not to mention at the moment he's a bit intoxicated so that really isn't helping."
"Well tell them to stop. Tell Jungkook to chill the hell out already," Loui demanded. His headache was getting even worse as he chugged a container full of moonshine.
"Why?" Hobi asked, "They're just playing," Hobi started feeling a little defensive seeing someone have a problem with their two maknae's just having fun in their own living room.
Jimin had been eyeing Loui and couldn't help but notice how much he'd been drinking and how much his attitude was starting to change. He could tell that Loui was getting a bit frustrated with Jungkook and he didn't like it, "Hey um..Loui..I don't mean to um..not mind my own business and all but maybe...you've had a bit much to drink? Maybe it's time to tone it down a bit? I mean you've have quite a lot I think it's time to take it easy?" Jimin bit his lip, he felt a little awkward asking.
"Mind your business," Loui shot back. Jimin dropped his gaze to the floor without replying. For a moment he realized why drunk people made Taehyung nervous. He was feeling a little apprehensive himself.
Jin walked over and rubbed Jimin's back, "He's right Loui. Maybe we should call it a night with the drinking."
Before Loui could reply, Jungkook and Taehyung zoomed past them all, laughing hysterically. At some point their game of tickles and wrestling had turned into a game of tag throughout the house.
"Aish! Maknae's don't run in the house! You'll hurt yourself! Especially you Jungkook, you're not quite sober!" Namjoon scolded the two youngest. However his demand went unnoticed as the two kept running back and forth chasing eachother laughing. Hobi tried grabbing Jungkook by the shirt to stop him, but he made his way out of the grip as he continued to be chased by Taehyung.
"Jungkookie and Taehyung stop running in this house before you get hurt!" Jimin also scolded.
When the two were on their way back, Hobi jumped in front of Taehyung to stop him from running. He grabbed him and they both started to giggle. Taehyung stopped running but Jungkook didn't. He kept running back and forth and 'tagging' the members, and Loui, telling them they were 'it'. Every time one of his hyungs tried to grab him to stop him from running, he always escaped.
Loui had more than enough. As Jungkook made his way towards them again, he stood up.
"Your hyungs have told you to stop a million and a half times already! Why the hell aren't you listening you defiant little shit?!" Loui raised his arm and punched Jungkook right in the eye. The maknae fell and his forehead smashed into the corner of the counter leaving an instant bleeding and bruised scraped, when he hit the ground his head also slammed back into one of their cabinet handles.
"Ahhh..hhhh...oooww..." Jungkook grabbed his head in his hands as he curled into a ball on the kitchen floor and began to hysterically cry. His entire head hurt like hell.
"Oh no...Jungkook...I'm ..I'm so sorry.." Loui said as he started walking towards Jungkook.
The maknae scrambled backwards on the floor away from him, "Please...don't!" Jungkook screamed as he put his arm up in defense as to tell Loui to not come any closer. The members at first were all frozen in shock. It felt like it all happened in slow motion, yet so quickly all at the same time.
Loui just hurt Jungkook..
Our maknae is on the ground crying...
Our maknae was hit..
More loud sobs were heard as both Taehyung and Jimin dove to the floor to wrap their arms around their youngest.
"Maknae!!" Taehyung cried while holding Jungkook. The maknae buried his face into both of his hyungs and completely sobbed. Hobi and Namjoon also dropped to the floor to embrace their youngest. "Bunny are you okay?! You'll be okay, you'll be okay," Hobi kept repeating. Jungkook couldnt tell if he was crying because he was hurt and in pain or because he was scared. Probably both.
Everyone was trying hard to supress their anger, however with some alcohol in them that was hard to do.
Yoongi walked over to Loui and gave him a hard shove, "What the hell did you hit him for?!?!" he screamed. Jin had ran to grab towels to help clean the blood off Jungkook's face and to grab his poor maknae some ice packs.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to but he was being so annoying and disrepectful not listening to anyone," Loui was panicking, "He's the maknae here and he wasn't listening to anybody and I just-"
"So you think you have the right to punch him?!" Yoongi yelled. "Maybe I should see how you like being decked right in the fuckin face too then, huh?!" Yoongi balled his hand into a fist and raised it, but Namjoon got up and stopped him, "Hyung, don't."
Yoongi brushed Namjoon aside and got right in Loui's face, "Nobody, and I mean nobody EVER hits Jungkook. Nobody ever puts their damn filthy hands on our maknae. What do you think gave you the damn right to do that? Huh?! He's our fuckin maknae, Loui! What the hell!"
"I didn't fuckin mean to! But if he had just listened in the first place it wouldn't have even happened to begin with!" Loui protested. Jimin's anger boiled over and he started yelling at Loui while still cradling his maknae who was crying into his chest, "Are you trying to say it's Jungkook's fault that YOU decided to punch him in the face? You're seriously trying to do that right now?!"
Taehyung reached over and grabbed Jimin's arm, "Please.." he pouted. He was so terrified right now. As if drunk people weren't scary enough, something even scarier was angry drunk people. And this drunk person had just hurt his maknae. He was terrified the man would hurt someone else too if they also made him angry. He couldn't believe Loui had actually put his hands on Jungkook. Did the man always put his hands on people when he was drunk? That was exactly why Taehyung was afraid of drunks, and this was exactly the reason why Taehyung always became overprotective of Jungkook. He felt guilty as he thought about how the one time his maknae had actually been in danger he wasn't able to protect him in time. He looked down at Jungkook who was still sobbing while being cradled between him, Jimin, Namjoon, and Hobi and bleeding onto their shirts. He couldn't find much else to say while Jin was trying to wipe their maknae's blood away while Hobi held the ice pack to the back of his head. Jimin ran his fingers through Jungkook's hair but the younger flinched in pain, everyone felt their chests tighten even more. Their blood was boiling seeing Jungkook hurt.
"Maybe if you guys showed some damn discipline around here, shit like this wouldn't happen!" Loui was refusing to admit he was in the wrong. If the older members had taught the youngest to be more respectful, this would have never happened.
"So what, then? Are you saying we should just hit and beat him as a form of discipline?" Hobi asked angrily. He couldn't believe the stuff Loui was saying. Hobi wondered if he was always this scary while drunk, and if he'd ever hit anyone else too.
"Whatever it takes," Loui slurred as he began swaying on his feet. Jungkook tightened his grip onto his hyungs. The thought of his hyungs beating him scared the hell out of him, but he knew they'd never do it.
"I'm calling you a ride home, and just know if he ends up needing to go to the hospital, you're paying the bill!" Yoongi yelled, "Oh and by the way you're fired!" None of the members had any objections to Yoongi's statement.
"Fired?! You can't fire me!" Loui screamed in protest.
Jimin got up from the floor, his shirt covered in Jungkook's bloodstains, "We sure as hell can fire you. Or have you arrested. Actually, we should leave that up to Jungkook-ssi. Maknae?"
Jungkook filled with even more anxiety, Loui was already scary enough he didn't want to do anything that would make him even more angry, so he shook his head no and clung closer to his hyungs. The bruises on his eye and forehead were steadily growing, but his cut stopped bleeding. They were checking him over to make sure he didn't have a concussion from hitting the cabinet handle, it didn't seem like he did, but his head sure hurt.
"Guess you got lucky there," Jimin started, "But you're still fired. You really think we're going to keep you at the company knowing you hit people when you're angry? Not to mention knowing you hit our youngest when you're angry? No no no, I don't think so. We can't trust you after that. How do we know you won't hurt him again? We don't. Wait outside while I call you a ride to go."
Loui protested and started yelling things that were incoherent because he was completely wasted at this point. Jungkook and Taehyung both started shaking in fear, Namjoon and Hobi wrapped their arms around both of them tightly. Yoongi and Jimin both shoved Loui out the door and waited for a taxi, they came back in when Loui was gone. While they were outside their food had also been delivered, bad timing. Nobody was hungry anymore so Yoongi put the food away.
"Don't worry, I'll let the company know he can't come back," Yoongi reassured everyone. Now that Loui was gone, everyone's undivided attention was on the maknae. He had a pretty nasty black eye and a bruise on his forehead to match it. The swelling was going down a bit after Jin had held the ice pack there for a while.
"How badly does your head hurt? I don't think you have a concussion, but do you want to go to the hospital?" Taehyung asked.
Jungkook shook his head no without saying anything. The movement making him squint as it sent a shooting pain through his head. The members were getting increasingly worried that Jungkook wasn't saying much.
"Jungkookie it's okay.." Namjoon gently rubbed his hand on Jungkook's cheek, "He can't hurt you again," Namjoon hugged his maknae again and began to cry. Hobi was trying to hold back his tears but was struggling.
Jungkook looked around at everyone with tears still pouring down his face, "I'm sorry hyungies.." he whispered. Confusion filled the room. "No no no maknae don't be sorry. It's not your fault, he shouldn't have hurt you.." Hobi told him.
"I didn't listen to hyungs. I'm sorry."
Yoongi gently grabbed Jungkook's arm, "Look at me."
Jungkook had gone back to hiding his face into Taehyung's chest. Yoongi turned Jungkook's face to him when Jungkook was too afraid to look at him, "No matter what you did, or didn't do, don't you ever in your life think it's your fault if someone hurts you. I don't want you to ever think you deserve to be punched or hit or pushed or hurt in any way as a form of discipline. Seriously don't you ever blame yourself for someone else's actions. Nobody should ever be hurting you. Do you understand me?"
Jungkook stared at him in silence.
"Jungkook-ah? Do you understand me?" Yoongi asked again.
Jungkook shook his head yes. He had a severe migraine at this point and his forehead and eye were throbbing badly. He looked at Taehyung and saw the fear in his eyes. He finally understood his hyungs fear of drunk people, he was sure that from this day forward he would have that same fear. Hobi offered him some pain killers. Everyone's heads turned when they heard Namjoon crying pretty hard.
"Hyung?" Jungkook asked.
"It's my fault, I'm so so sorry Jungkook. Taehyung asked me to tell him to lay off the drinking before it got worse and I didn't listen. I'm so sorry to both of you. If I had just asked him to stop it.." Namjoon was cut off by Jin," Namjoon-ah it's nobodys fault but Loui's okay? Like Yoongi-ah told Jungkook, we can't blame ourselves for his own actions," He began rubbing Namjoon's back.
The members cleaned up the place and helped Jungkook get into bed, their maknae had quickly passed out from the painkillers and calming tea Jimin had made him. Taehyung and Jimin also crawled into bed with their maknae and they were all tangled up together. The hyungs watched them sleep from the doorway.
"Will Jungkook be okay?" Asked Hobi.
"He's a strong kid, he'll be alright. Scared I'm sure, but he'll get past it," Yoongi replied.
"Aish, what are we going to do with these maknae's?" Hobi laughed.
"Well I can tell you one thing we won't do is ever hit them. Seriously what the hell was that? What a damn psycho!" Jin exclaimed.
"Another thing we probably should not do is invite staff over for drinks anymore," Namjoon mentioned. All the hyungs agreed in unison as they closed their maknae's door and headed to bed.
What a long night.
-Fin .
