O N E S H O T ~ V I S I T O R S
O N E S H O T ~ V I S I T O R S - This is a combination of two different requests because I think they'll work well together. So this is a combination of BookwormMDCCCXIII 's request "Percy thinking their child won't like him and they won't be able to bond?" And @KelpHead987 's request "Have one of them telling the Avengers the big news. And attempting to explain how that works."
"Do you ever get doubts?" Percy spoke up suddenly.
They were just relaxing in bed, the morning light shifting through the curtains. Percy was lying there, arms wrapped around Loki from behind. It was something Loki was slowly becoming accustomed to.
"Doubts about what?" Loki asked.
"The child." Percy said.
"This child is mine- ours. I am not giving them up." Loki stated, protectiveness flaring.
"Yeah, but what if-"
"What if." Loki echoed. "It's always what if. Percy, we've had this talk already. You'll be a great dad and if anybody tells you otherwise, then direct them my way. I'll sort them out."
"But what if we don't get along."
It wasn't a new question. Just phrased differently. Last time was 'what if they don't like me?'
"Percy-"
"What happens if we don't bond? I want to bond with my child. I want us to get along. I don't want to have the crappy relationship I had with half of my family. I want a relationship like I had with- with my mother."
Gods it hurt to think about her.
They'd overcome so many challenges together. Their bond was strong. She was his mother. He was her son. They had shared and created so many precious memories. Percy wanted a bond like that. But he wasn't sure he could obtain it. He didn't think he could earn it and he told Loki as much.
By the end of it he was crying, eyes splotchy and wet with tears. He hid his face in Loki's back. "They won't like me, I'd bet my life on it." Percy hiccuped.
"I wouldn't. I don't want to lose you so soon." Loki said softly, turning around in Percy's embrace.
"Yeah right." Percy mumbled. His head was now buried in the crook of Loki's neck.
There was a sudden knock at the door. Both lovers stiffened.
Monsters didn't knock.
Well, some did, but anyway.
The slid out of bed, Percy armed with his pen and Loki armed with, well, stuffed toys. It was the nearest thing and Loki knew it worked for ammo.
They looked at each other and Percy nodded in confirmation before pushing open the door and peering around.
"Well somebody's jumpy." An irritatingly familiar voice drawled.
"Tony." Percy deadpanned, putting his pen back in his pocket. He hastily wiped away the tears staining his cheeks, though he could not remove all evidence.
"How the hell do you know where we live!?" Loki demanded, storming up to the Man of Iron.
"Wasn't too hard to find with the right resources." Tony grinned, his answer frustratingly vague.
"Redecorating huh?" Clint raised an eyebrow, stepping uninvited into the house. "Bit more childish than I thought you were, but each to their own."
But Natasha was analysing the place in more detail. She highly doubted the baby play mat in the corner was for Percy or Loki- at least she hoped not. Her eyes narrowed.
"Were you crying Percy?" Steve asked, peering closer at Percy.
Percy turned away. "It's nothing."
"It's nothing," Clint mocked. "Whenever someone says it's nothing, it's always something."
"He's just stressing about the baby." Loki muttered offhandedly, but everybody heard him.
There was a collective gasp and exclamation, "The BABY!?"
"You heard incorrectly." Loki tried to cover it up, beginning to fiddle with his fingers.
"Then what did you say, Loki?" Steve questioned.
While Loki was dealing with Steve, Tony barged passed everybody and entered the house. He tried to be stealthy but it didn't work as Percy noticed almost instantly. Tony took off, sprinting through the house. Admittedly, he may have been making a lot of noise while doing so. Percy chased after him, and he knew the house better than Tony did.
So he knew exactly where Tony was heading.
"Tony, stop! I'm not going to hurt you! Just stop!" Percy yelled as the billionaire ran around the corner. The room was at the end of the hallway and Tony wasn't seeing reasoning.
Percy could've outrun Tony, but he was in socks on wooden floors and he was tired both emotionally and physically.
When he finally caught up, Tony was standing in the doorway, mouth agape. He clearly intended to hide in the room, but what he saw shocked him.
It was decorated for a baby. There was a cot in the corner, pressed against the far wall. There were stuffed toys and clothes and an assortment of other things. Percy skidded to a stop. Not long after the other filtered in behind him.
"Uh... guys?" Tony asked, his voice raising in pitch. "Who's the lucky guy and gal?"
Percy said nothing. Loki came up behind him and wrapped his arms around Percy. "We are." Loki glared at Tony, daring him to insult it.
"So you're adopting?" Natasha asked. She seemed genuinely curious, not mocking or anything.
"Not- not exactly..." Percy shuffled awkwardly.
"Then... what?" Clint frowned. Not a single one of them seemed to understand.
"I- well- uh-" Percy stammered. How was he supposed to tell them that Loki was pregnant?
Unlike Percy, Loki thought 'quite easily'.
"I'm pregnant." Loki stated.
Had Tony been sipping water, their walls would be dripping.
"HOW THE FUCK DID THAT HAPPEN!?" Tony demanded. Nobody else spoke, too much in shock.
"Well, Tony, you see, when two people get together, they can develop a relationship. Even if they aren't in a relationship, they can still-"
"I KNOW WHAT SEX IS!" Tony roared. "But how- what- Loki is a guy."
"I don't recall you ever checking." Loki snapped.
"Why don't we all sit down, and you two can explain." Steve was trying to settle everyone down. Nothing was going to be conveyed through yelling.
Percy nodded. He grabbed Loki's hand and tugged him back down the hallway. The others followed, acutely aware that they were holding hands.
Once they were sitting, Clint was the first to speak. "So explain to me how this works."
"Well-"
"Normally. What happened with you two." Natasha butted in, sensing Loki was going to go into his talk about the natural 'birds and bees' talk.
"Loki is a god, you all know this. He can change his Aspect and become female." Percy explained. As they didn't have enough chairs (they weren't exactly expecting visitors) Percy and Loki shared a chair and Steve and Natasha stood. Tony and Clint occupied the other two chairs. Percy refused to sit on Loki, so Loki sat on Percy's lap, resting his back against Percy. Nobody questioned the open show of affection.
"So... Loki is a woman right now?" Tony frowned.
"Essentially." Loki nodded.
"That's... different." Clint said.
"Everything else happens exactly the same as a normal pregnancy. We assume. I wouldn't know." Percy mumbled. He still felt tired.
"What were you crying about before?" Steve asked. Nobody had failed to miss the splotchy eyes, although the redness had long since faded.
"Percy doesn't think he'll be a good father." Percy hid his face in Loki's neck and hair. It seemed stupid to him now. Not everybody needed to know his thoughts and fears.
"I mean-" Natasha slapped Clint before he could finish that sentence.
"Look at it this way, you'll make a better father than any of these idiots." Natasha said.
"As a father myself I find that highly insulting." Clint grumbled. He thought he was a perfectly fine father.
"I'm happy to babysit." Natasha said.
Percy didn't think that was a very good idea. Loki was not entrusting his child to this lot.
"How long until you... have the child?" Steve asked. Though they could grudgingly accept it, the concept was still strange. Not to mention, Loki now had a mellow feel to him.
"A while. Maybe, seven months." It was hard to notice under the baggy clothes that Loki wore, but a bump was there. Whether instinctively or intentionally, both Loki and Percy had a hand on Loki's stomach.
Tony was beginning to feel a little uncomfortable. Just the concept of it. There was nothing wrong with the relationship itself.
A sudden feeling of sickness came over Loki. These days it wasn't uncommon. He gripped Percy's wrist and bent over.
"Loki, what's wrong?" Percy asked, wide-eyed.
"Bathroom." He muttered before he shot down the hall, stumbling over his feet.
Percy blinked, staring after him. Natasha smiled knowingly. "And there's the best part," She said sarcastically. "Morning sickness."
Tony took this opportunity to stand up and announce, "Right, well I think we should take our leave now. You appear to have things to take care of, call if you need anything." Slightly startled, the other three followed him.
"Good luck Percy!" Steve called over his shoulder as they left.
"You'll do fine as a father." Clint gave him a thumbs up and Natasha said she was open to babysit.
And with that they were gone.
Percy winced as he heard Loki retching down the hall.
Better go help him with that.

Ta da.
Did I meet standards?
With the whole bonding thing I tried to make it different from the 'What If' one shot.
And flipping hell is it hard to write seriously with what the only two friends that are still awake are talking about. Wtf is splorch!? Who comes up with this stuff!?
Peace,
