"i can't believe you're alive." monroe, a survivor that made it back with a few others, spoke as she hugged kodie.
"i can." octavia snorts, pulling the girl into a hug also.
"where's raven?" kodie asks.
"she's with finn." octavia frowns. "he's gone psycho, kodie."
"war changed him." monroe adds on. kodie hadn't spent any time with the girl, but she seemed pretty cool.
"war changes everyone somehow." she mumbles before looking around their new camp. when she spotted murphy a smile formed on her face and she looked at the two girls. "i'll catch up with you guys later." she rushed over to murphy and jumped into his arms, startling him as he held on to her tightly so she didn't fall. her legs wrapped around his waist and she buried her face in his neck. "i can't believe you're alive." murphy didn't say anything as he squeezed his princess tight.
when she finally jumped down he smiled at her, cupping her cheeks with his hands. "i'm not surprised you're still alive." a chuckle leaves his lips. "you survived three years on the ground, right? a forth one wouldn't kill you."
she laughs, "yeah, true."
"what happened to your hand?" he asks as he moves his hands from her face to her hand.
"i would try to play it cool and say i punched a grounder, but i actually broke it punching a tree."
"nice." he laughs. he simply stares at her as she looks down at her hand. "god, i can't believe you're standing in front of me right now. i missed you so much."
"i missed you too, trash prince." kodie smiled as her eyes began to water and she hugged him again.
"so," he says as she pulls away again. "i'm the most hated person in camp at the moment."
"probably because you wasted all of our gunpowder and told the grounders everything about us." she playfully shrugs.
"i didn't tell them everything." he rolls his eyes. "i didn't tell them about you being here three years longer than the rest of us."
kodie playfully rolls her eyes. "what a gentleman."
he scoffs, "obviously."
"i should go see finn and raven." kodie smiles at him.
he gives her a nod, looking over her shoulder as his smile fell. "go ahead, but come see me later, okay? i need at least one friend here."
"of course." she smiles, kissing his cheek before he walked away. kodie spun on her heels to walk in the other direction and her smile fell just like murphy's did when seeing bellamy standing only a few feet away from her. the lump in her throat wouldn't go away and her entire wall of numbness officially fell. she suddenly felt the pain in her hand, the pain in her head and mostly, the pain in her heart. "bellamy." bellamy stood there, staring at her with parted lips and slightly widened eyes. "i—" she licked her lips. "i thought you died."
he pursed his lips, "i'm still here."
"but how?" she shakes her head. "the explosion should've killed you and—"
"i told you to get to the drop ship." he shook his head at her.
kodie furrowed her eyes and anger started to bubble up inside her. "are you kidding me?"
"you should've gone to the drop ship." he said strictly. "what if you got caught up in the explosion?"
"well, i didn't." she retorts, crossing her arms over her chest. "and news flash?" she says as she walks closer to him so their faces were only inches apart. "if i went to the drop ship i would be stuck in mount weather like the rest of our people." she bumped his shoulder as she walked away and dropped her arms to her sides. octavia stood off to the side and kodie groaned, pulling her in for another hug. "i missed you so much."
she smirks, "my brother missed you too, you know? obviously he didn't say it, but—"
kodie shook her head. "i don't care about your brother." she glanced down at her hand and hissed quietly at the pain. "can you bring me to the doctor area?"
octavia nods, "yeah, come on." she leads the girl to the "hospital" part of the ark and kodie raises an eyebrow at abby as she was talking to a patient.
once abby took notice to the two brunettes standing by the entrance kodie spoke. "chancellor and doctor. must be a lot of work, huh?" kodie asks.
"sure is, but it's worth it." abby nods. "what can i do for you two?"
"my hand." kodie answers, holding it up. "i'm a hundred and ten percent sure i broke my knuckle."
"take a seat and let me see." abby says, gesturing to an empty bed.
"i'll meet you later, okay?" kodie says to octavia.
"i can wait." she insists, but kodie shakes her head, lowering her voice.
"find clarke. we need to start planning how we're getting our people out of mount weather."
octavia gave her a firm nod and left the room, so kodie made her way over to the bed and sat down. she unwrapped her hand as abby talked to yet another patient and once the bandage was off she hissed at how swollen it was.
"yikes," abby walks up and lightly grabs her hand, examining it. "it's definitely broken. does it hurt?"
kodie nods, "a lot."
"did it just start hurting?" she furrows her eyebrows. "i didn't sense any kind of pain before."
kodie bit her bottom lip. "i was numb before, but i'm not now."
abby didn't ask questions yet as she placed kodie's hand down on the brunette's leg softly. "i'm going to re-bandage it and have you put some ice on it for a few hours to see if the pain subsides." she pursed her lips. "i don't have any antibiotics that you could have to numb the pain, so ice is all i can do right now until we can find out if any other stations made it to the ground in one piece." she grabs some bandages and glances at the seventeen year old girl. "how did you numb the pain before?"
kodie licked her lips and shrugged her shoulders. "i shut everything off. i isolated my feelings and the pain."
"and returning to camp brought all those feelings and the pain back?" she asks and kodie simply nods. "well, let's see how ice works, yeah?"
kodie nods, "okay."
